Amidst the tranquil shores of a secluded island, where faith meets mystery, a decade-old disappearance sets the stage for love, redemption, and the unearthing of secrets that will forever change the lives of those who call this island home. Welcome to Magnolia Island, where the past holds the key to the future.
Oceans of Mercy - A friends-to-lovers romance Knox has been a strong and steady presence in Allie’s life for as long as she can remember, their friendship spanning the test of time and multiple tragedies for them both. Still, as Allie begins to grow as a person and in her faith, she realizes she’s let those around her fight her battles for her for far too long. It’s time for her to step up and stand up for herself, but old habits die hard for Knox who has been her protector since childhood. Just as Allie and Knox navigate the growing pains of their changing friendship and feelings for one another, a routine dive reopens a long closed missing person case that has deeply personal ties to Allie’s family. At the same time, an unexpected career opportunity for Allie thrusts her into the spotlight and stretches their friendship to the point where they must either bend or break.
Flames of Faith - A second-chance romance Rob and Lexi’s relationship burned with the feelings they had for one another, but their explosive ending aided by the failure to reckon with their own pasts nearly broke them both. Now, Lexi’s back in Magnolia Island for the foreseeable future and comes face to face with a precocious little girl with her daddy’s eyes. She doesn’t know what to think, but their hearts pull them together the same way they did in college. Can time really heal all wounds, or are there some loves you just never get over?
Growing Hope - An enemies-to-lovers romance When Rockford Properties acquires a private nature preserve on Magnolia Island, their plans to build a resort infuriate environmentalist Sage. But, as she and Bryan lock horns in the fight of their lives, they uncover a piece to the Charlie Edwards cold case puzzle that no one expected.
Fighting for Truth - A fake relationship romance Never in a million years would these two have thought they'd find themselves pretending to be a couple, but diving deep into the Charlie Edwards cold case necessitates it. Not to mention, Gwyn's got some complications of her own knocking from her past, and Levi just might be the answer she's been looking for. As the two form an unlikely alliance to solve the case, they find themselves falling for each other in the plot twist neither saw coming. Still, it all may end in tragedy when the truth is worse than either could've imagined.
Melody of the Heart - A second-chance romance When Charlotte (Charlie) Edwards returns to Magnolia Island to help bring Randall Cromwell to justice, she comes face to face with her past in ways she never expected. Aiden isn't the man she left behind, and his faith lay in broken pieces at their feet. Refusing to run again, her job at the bakery and life on the island keeps Charlie busy until it all comes to a head in one satisfying series finale.
Good read but had some formatting issues and some continuity issues.
In the first book, Allie finds the locket of a girl missing nearly 13 years, presumably dead. In about the third book, we're told it was a bracelet. Later, near end of third book, it's again a necklace.
Several times, the sentences are like this one. With no spacing.
The story was good, but you absolutely want the whole box set, because the mystery lies within all five books.
I got this during a time when it was free on Amazon.
As long as you're aware this is inspirational and reference to God is heavy...I can recommend. Otherwise, you'll likely want t look elsewhere.
I really enjoyed the story, so you must be wondering why only three stars. There were details that changed in between the books. For instance, in the first book piece of evidence change from necklace to a bracelet to a necklace to a bracelet to a necklace again throughout the series of books. Also, within the same book, fax would be repeated over and over it again, even though that information was established, only a few chapters before.
Having finished reading the Magnolia Island Series Boxset, I must say that it is was a captivating, suspenseful, and wonderful Christian romance. It was remarkable how each of the four books in the series followed each other with most of the same characters, but with a different focus on each one. Anyone who loves Christian romance stories with a bit of mystery will absolutely love this series. Kudus, Mallory Ford for a delightful group of stories.
These are great stories of love and faith. As one reviewer noted, the editing fails in many places. Charlie's jewelry is a pendant in some books and a bracelet in others. Spelling, homophones, and formatting issues are frustrating, but if those don't bother you, you should love the books. I only deducted one star for the editing problems.
There are 5 novels, each one highlighting a Jameson sibling. The intertwined lives of Aiden, Sage, Rob, Allie, and Levi - each an adult struggling with something - weave tales of loss, love, forgiveness, and hope. Add in their faithful mother Lydia who runs a bed and breakfast and you have a wonderful backdrop setting. You'll fall in love with this family and the Magnolia Island regulars.
I really enjoyed every page of this series. The author painted such stunning and real pictures with her artful writing. Every character's journey to faith and victory was worthwhile following. It was had to stop reading and even harder when every story concluded. Fortunately it left the reader with an expectation of good things even amidst great sadness. I will encourage my girlfriends to also read this lovely series.
This series was such a blessing! I try to read only Christian books. I’m thankful that there are more coming out recently. Malory Ford is a very talented writer and holds your attention and interest from beginning to the last word! I’m very thankful for her talented writing.
So glad I read this series. There is mystery, drama, broken dreams, love and faith. Each character is well written, the developing stories so good. You keep reaching for the answers but it doesn’t all make sense till the very end.
The way Charlie's story was weaved through the whole series ensured I could not put it down till the last page. The characters felt like old friends come to visit, the setting was beautiful and the plot was flawless.
This boxed set follows the Jameson family of Magnolia Island. They aren’t rich or exceptionally talented or extraordinarily beautiful. But they are a family of faith (mostly), learning and stumbling and rising to try again. There is some suspense woven throughout each story too.
This was a very dramatic Christian suspense series that was full of The love of God and family. It's extremely well written and it keeps you reading straight to the end. Its s great read!
The Magnolia Island Series Boxset was an excellent series. The characters and the settings were well structured, yet the books flowed in an enjoyable manner . Insightful!
I enjoyed reading all of the stories included in this compilation! Each book was a part of the story but different enough to maintain the reader's interest.
These five Christian romance stories were so endearing and engaging. I loved how each story started where the prior one ended. I loved the faith filled tales.
This is a great series based upon siblings growing up on Magnolia Island. The role of faith is significant as forgiveness and love play out in the challenges faced.
I recently purchased the Magnolia Island box set by new-to-me author Malory Ford. The series has five short contemporary Christian romances, each featuring one of the Jameson siblings. The stories follow familiar tropes, including friends to more, second chance romance, enemies to more, and fake relationship.
I enjoyed all the stories, with each one getting successively stronger.
Oceans of Mercy
Oceans of Mercy brings together marine biologist Allie and her longtime friend, boat captain Knox. I’m always a sucker for a friends-to-more romance, and Oceans of Mercy ticked all the boxes while providing an original and engaging heroine. If this story had any faults, it was possibly that Knox was a little too perfect … at least, he was perfect for Allie, and that’s what I love to see.
Flames of Faith
Flames of Faith features single father and firefighter Rob reconnecting with elementary school teacher Lexi, his college sweetheart. But she isn’t so keen to rekindle what they once had when she does the math and realizes how soon Rob’s daughter was born after they broke up … One of the problems with Christian romance is that we don’t often get to see what a good Christian dad looks like, so it was great to have Rob show us a man who has overcome the mistakes of his past and dedicated himself to providing the best possible Christian upbringing for his daughter.
Growing Hope
Growing Hope was probably my least favourite story, for two somewhat shallow reasons. First, I’m not a fan of enemies-to-lovers stories. They’re just not my jam. Second (and this really is shallow), I have a black thumb so have an unhealthy aversion to people like Sage who can grow anything.
Fighting for Truth
Fighting for Truth was a fake relationship romance with an added twist: Gwyn isn’t a Christian and Levi (obviously) is. Some Christian readers don’t like fake relationships because it’s lying, although that doesn’t really bother me. Other readers don’t like Christian-meets-non Christian romances because the couple are unequally yoked. I can see their point, but I also love stories where there is a compelling conversion scene. (Not that I want a return to the days where it seemed every Christian romance had a conversion scene, but it’s great to read one occasionally).
Melody of the Heart
Melody of the Heart is the perfect end to the series. Aiden Jameson has only appeared in the series via Zoom, because he’s serving in the US Army in the Middle East. Melody of the Heart brings him home, but he’s and angry man who has lost his faith. While that was initially a little shocking, it also made for an excellent redemption arc and an excellent end to the series.
Overall
What made the Magnolia Island series (almost) unique to my mind was the overarching mystery thread running through the entire series. The series opened with marine biologist Allie finding a necklace she recognized as belonging to her oldest brother’s high school girlfriend—the girl who mysteriously disappeared one night close to fifteen years ago. Over the course of the series, the siblings discover one clue after another that brings us a little closer to understanding the “why” behind Charlie Edwards’s disappearance.
The other thing I liked was that I was able to track the relationships of the siblings and their partners through the series (which got occasionally confusing once we had Lexi and Levi—I admit I mixed them up a couple of times). It’s always fun to see characters from previous stories, even if I did binge all five over Easter weekend!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the Magnolia Island series. Recommended for contemporary Christian romance fans, especially those who like to see a common plot thread through a series.
Mallory, did an excellent job on writing these books. They were a great example how God mends broken vessels back to life. You will not be disappointed in these wonderful love stories.
