Kerry J. Donovan

36 books284 followers
#1 bestselling author with the US-based Lucky Shores romantic suspense series and the Ryan Kaine military action thrillers, and creator of the popular DCI Jones Casebook series of police procedurals, Kerry J Donovan was born in Dublin, before spending many formative years in West Wales.

Kerry earned a first-class honours degree in Human Biology and a PhD in Sport and Exercise Sciences. A former scientific advisor to The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, he helped UK emergency first-responders prepare for chemical and biological attacks in the wake of the 9/11 atrocities. This background adds a keen scientific edge to Kerry’s writing.

Kerry’s life experiences help him add an extra layer of realism to his stories and his characters. For example, readers will discover the water-borne adventures of his action hero, Ryan Kaine, a former member of the Royal Navy’s Special Boat Services, as authentic and exciting as a night-time dip in the Bay of Biscay.

As the owner of a “pristine” Honda NC750X, you’ll often find him touring the less well-known regions of Europe in search of interesting locations for his novels. A life-long sports enthusiast and open-water swimmer, the moment Kerry catches a glimpse of the ocean, it’s off with the bike leathers and on with his wetsuit.

A citizen of the world, Kerry recently returned from spending two decades living in the heart of rural Brittany and now lives with Margaret in a recently renovated bungalow in Nottinghamshire, UK.

When not writing, Kerry enjoys riding his motorbike, jogging, swimming, spending time with his four wonderful grandchildren, and travelling the world.

A kidnapped wife, a desperate husband and some rather nasty and ruthless killers.

Ryan Kaine has his work on this one...

Ryan Kaine still trying to stay under the radar from the British agencies and police.

Ryan faces some nasty characters in London, France and Netherlands.

Helping a frightened and worried man trying to find his kidnapped wife being held somewhere, but where and by who?

Of the many authors authors I follow and read I am happy to say it's great to be fully up to speed on Ryan Kaine one of the great characters in the world of action thrillers.

Always powerful and realistic characters that you get to know through the ongoing story, now on book twelfth. Lots of twists, surprises on the way.

Always filled with strong storyline, hints of a dry humour, pace, tension and plenty of action. The author always gives a few hints of the future battles ahead for Ryan Kaine and his loyal friends.

Lots of chasing, battles, twists and action.

Kerry, thanks again for another gripping story. I am ready for the next one !

Another adventure that I was excited to read !!!

I was absolutely Thrilled when I saw that there was a new book !!!
I enjoy these books immensely !!! Some of the past books had a Lot of negative comments about different ethnicities, but the last few books have REALLY cut down on that. That makes me Very happy !!! My reading experience with these books is now amazing !! I am not from the UK, so an awful lot of the slang is difficult, but that in no way detracts from the overall story . Do I have questions ?? Of COURSE , I do !! But even without knowing exactly what is going on , Captain Kaine and his troops make me cheer for them !!!

This story picks up right after the last story . About six months after that fateful day that the plane was shot down . Ryan and his friends are still helping the 83, and this adventure gives us a troupe throughout the continent. Lots of great descriptions, and scenery makes a stupendous read !!! I think that should I ever find myself in these places, I would know my way around 😃
This book was a delightful read, and I am always anxious to read more !!!

They Just Keep Getting Better

And I’ll be sad when I’ve finished the last in the series. But then, I do hope that Mr. Donovan continues to write more. He has proven to be quite prolific, so I harbor that hope.

As to this Ryan Kaine installment, I enjoyed it a great deal. As a fan of the Denzel Washington EQUALIZER series of movies, I can’t help but make comparisons. While Donovan’s prose isn’t perfect, it’s bloody good—and getting better. And, I freely admit, I’m a sucker for the Good Guys win/Robin Hood aspects. Donovan has struck a chord in me.

Pease carry on, Mr. Donovan! Thank you.

Best books ever!

I loved the characters in all of the books. Even the bad guys were realistic! The books never slowed down or got boring in any sense. I read at least one a day and sometimes started on the next in the series. Totally let down when the last book was done. I want the 83 to continue forever! In fact, I have read every one of Kerry Donovan’s books and not sure where to turn next. Ryan Kaine will be my hero forever!

Lara

I like her character but she makes me mad when she wants to tag along when kaine says no. She does not have the training that he has or the skillet not even close. Yeah she can do pretty good on her own. I will give her that.but to be get pissed is just ridiculous . He needs to focus, I already returned the previous book so this was more about book 11. I have not finished this book yet, but I know it will be good.

Good book…but…

During a save-the-day and save a life, there comes a point where there needs to be a fast flight on a private jet.

This dialog happens:

“I was talking about the environmental costs,” Micah muttered. “So was I. We’re buying carbon credits to offset the emissions. Three times as many as the system calls for.”

Seriously?

We are in a huge hurry but have to discuss the credits????

BS.

Otherwise a Five Star Ryan Kaine story.

As has been the case with every one of this series…outstanding. Now the wait…for the next story. I love the style of story telling Kerry chooses here. The flow of the story, looking at things from both parties in succession, the small details included. Fast paced, page turning entertainment at its finest!

Just love this series

This is a very readable series from book one through to book 12. It would be a dreadful shame for all The 83 to end up requiring the help of Ryan Kaine but would mean I get to enjoy 83 stories. The stories aren't always happy endings which is sad but gives more depth to the characters. All in all just read the series. You won't regret

A fantastic story and series

This was an intense story with heartbreaking tragedies, secrets, lies, betrayals, as well as intriguing twists that will keep you guessing until the end. Not a story or series to be missed.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

A good, if meandering story.

A loosely jointed plot that sort of wandered about. Good action and dialogue, and MUCH less Laura and her drama, which is very welcome. It feels like this series may wrap up in the next few books. We will see.

Basically a Good Story But…

There are way too many details that get repeated over and over. And if I have to read “He puffed his cheeks out” anymore I might scream. Worth the read but best if you can scan a page, pick out the needed details and skip over the repetitive minutia.

An excellent addition to the Ryan Kaine series

From the beginning this book was gripping. There's plenty of action, tension, character development and storyline to keep you hooked, and forcing you to read just one more chapter. I thoroughy recommend reading the series.

It's very annoying. I read this one at a fast and furious pace and now have an empty space again. Have to wait for Kerry to scribe more of this brilliant series. Thank, sir

Another task which lead to justice

Enjoyable covers helping a couple related to the 83 trust. A kidnapping, smuggling and a lot of dangerous people whose only interest is money. Evan though Kaine is tired he couldn’t let anyone down.

Excellent read.

Having just read On The Offensive Book 12, I was disappointed to find that it is the last in the series. I have not yet read a Kerry J Donovan book that I didn't enjoy. Just hoping now that there will be more Ryan Kaine novels to follow.

On the Offensive.

Excellent as usual. Such a great story line and interesting show of corruption can lead. This writer has a good grasp of knowledge on so many subjects. Can't wait to continue on to next book.

One of the better books in the series.

This wasn't a bad read a bit more like the first ones. The editors do need to be a bit more thorough in their proof reading some poor typos and factual errors.

Ryan Kane is truly amazing in how he handles things. He brings quite a few surprises as he takes care of the “83” Trust. This one though hits hard for everyone.

Always riveting

I have enjoyed reading this Ryan Kane series with its twists and turns and surprise plots. I will say though that the fight scenes are becoming redundant, perhaps do to my lack of interest in boxing jargon and also so much attention on people wetting their pants !
