Love Always, Christmas by Karen Schaler was such a festive, heart warming, and heart breaking Christmas story. I didn't know what I was going to think about this book because I saw reviews saying it was like reading a t.v. script, but after I read this book it was so much more than that. Love Always, Christmas is about family, second chances, spending the holidays with those you love. I was surprised to find that a Christmas book can be a mystery, which this book had a little bit of. I'm so happy I didn't let these other reviews stop me from reading this book, because I loved every minute of it. I mean, let's be honest, the cover truly caught my attention, it's insanely beautiful, and gives off all the Christmas vibes. Christmas lights/decorations, snow globes, snow, cold weather, ugly Christmas sweaters? HELLO, I NEEDED THIS BOOK!!!!! This was my first book by Karen Schaler and certainly didn't disappoint. After reading this book, I did some research on this author and found out she's a queen of Christmas book, i'll definitely be checking out Karen Schaler's other books in the future. Please do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this book because Christmas is right around the corner, YAY!!!!

Libby Larson's plan is to get Christmas over with as soon as possible. Libby lost her father in Afghanistan serving his country. Libby's father started a bunch of their Christmas traditions, but after losing him, Libby is determined to keep his traditions going to honor him. Libby also lost her mother, her only living family member, and now wants nothing to do with Christmas. After losing both of her parents, Libby is trying to save her parents house, but everyday something new comes up and Libby is running out of savings. Libby is a social media manager trying to save their family home, but with funds running low Libby doesn't know what to do. Trying to keep herself busy so she can ignore the sadness that comes with spending Christmas alone, Libby is working on her first big project since starting her own business, featuring "Christmas Kitty", a cat that goes viral all over social media with Christmas content. Libby lives in Evergreen Valley where Christmas is in full spirit.
In Evergreen Valley, Libby is out going for a run one morning when she gets taken down by a big inflatable Santa Claus, this is where Libby meets Adam Thompson, Adam's parents just moved to Evergreen Valley and lives across the street from Libby. Libby goes to Holly Peak to find out who this twenty year old unopened Christmas card belongs to. When Libby arrives in Holly Peak, she learns that Adam is the town manager of Holly Peak. Even though Libby and Adam started on the wrong foot, Adam is the only person Libby can turn to, to help her find this mysterious person. Libby was always told she never had any other living family members, but when she finds out a family member sent this Christmas card years ago, Libby wonders why she was lied to her whole life. With secrets unraveling and getting help from Adam, Libby must join in on the quirky Christmas traditions Holly Peak has to offer. This is a delightfully heartwarming romantic story set in Washington state, in Seattle and in a truly magical setting in the mountains. Libby is not doing Christmas after losing her last relative, her mom, the previous Christmas. Her parents loved Christmas and started a Christmas decorating tradition in their neighborhood of Evergreen Valley in Seattle that all the neighbors carry on each year. But Libby cannot do it this year and has thrown herself into her business and saving her parents' home. An unopened Christmas card in the attic among decorations addressed to her mom leads her on a new adventure to the mountains and a delightful Christmas village, Holly Peak, and the sender of the Christmas card. And she runs into her neighbors' son, Adam, in Holly Peak where he is the town manager and attorney. She had a prior encounter with Adam that didn't go well when he was visiting his parents. What ensues after is a whirlwind of events from Christmas activities, accidents, weather events, and a community coming together to save a Christmas celebration, ending on a note of hope, love, Christmas miracles, and surprises. Lovey story recommended to those who enjoy a story filled with Christmas spirit. I received a complimentary copy from Hawktale Publishing and NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. This is the second Christmas romance I've read by Karen Schaler and ended up loving it. I am a big fan of Hallmark movies, so I am not surprised that I enjoy her books just as much as the movies. This was a sweet, heartwarming romance full of Christmas spirit with endearing characters. I hope to see it as a Hallmark movie one day.

I thought I'd love this, but it read like a TV script.
The one bright spark in the whole book was what happened at the end in the small town of Holly Peak, which I'll leave to the reader to discover.
I think the main reason for my two stars is that I was reading huge blocks of info dumps - either in text or dialogue - of backstory and feelings and thoughts rather than seeing them in body language and letting the backstory shine through in tiny pockets. It repeated a lot of information about how the two main characters were afraid or busy, and the big reveal of a long-held secret wasn't credible.
If you're a Hallmark movie fan, you'll probably love it though.

Well...I will start by saying that this was an okay read and definitely fit the bill for the Christmas content that I was looking for but I was disappointed with this book. I read and absolutely loved Christmas Camp by this author and keep hoping to find another one by her that I love just as much, but sadly this one just wasn't it. There were tons and tons of typos, which led to re-reading sentences to make sure that I got the correct meaning and it was just ok. I did enjoy it enough to finish but I hope that the next book by Karen Schaler is a winner for me.

Libby is a social media manager attempting to keep her parents house in her family, but is struggling to come up with the funds to do so. Trying to keep herself busy so she can ignore the sadness that comes with a Christmas season without loved ones, she's working on her first big project since starting her business, featuring "Christmas Kitty" - a cat known for going viral with Christmas content. In the process of making this video for a company, she finds an unopened letter from a mystery friend of her late mother, and decides to travel to the nearby small town that shows on the return address.
This was the third book I've read by Karen Schaler, and sadly, my least favorite for a lot of reasons. For starters, here is what I DID enjoy about this book:
1. I loved all the Christmas vibes. If you want a book heavy on the Christmas content (with everything from Christmas carol cell phone ringtones to a dog named Rudolph), then this one will hit the spot.
2. The small town of Holly Peak seemed picturesque, just like in a quintessential Hallmark movie.
3. The dog, Rudolph, seemed like a great pal to have.
Unfortunately, the joy of Christmas writing was not enough to carry this story for me.
For starters, the dialogue in this book was absolutely brutal and redundant to read. I get that Karen Schaler is known for writing Hallmark movies and that those are known for cheesy, over the top sugary sweet speaking characters, but this was absolutely excessive. The back and forth between Libby and Adam would go on for full pages with nothing accomplished. In one instance, they told each other "Thank you!" back and forth (for the same thing) for 6 paragraphs. SIX. PARAGRAPHS. Again, I understand that these are supposed to be unrealistically nice characters, but this was painful. I was so bored that my eyeballs glazed over. I think what Schaler was trying to write as "banter" just read as bad conversation for me.
The romance in this book was such a slow burn that I gave up hope. I thought they were going to be just friends. But it's Hallmark-y, so certainly the two main people are going to get together, right? It took far too long and was SO awkward getting there. The flirting reminded me of conversations I had with my middle school crushes.
Libby's job as a social media manager/entrepreneur could've been presented in a really cool way, but instead, it fell absolutely flat. Almost all references to social media were obnoxiously incorrect to the point that I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. The amount of times she talked about how important hashtags are had my eye muscles strained from how far my eyeballs rolled into the back of my head. It felt like her entire career was riding on hashtags and that she really thought she could save a company from doom with the perfect one. Maybe I'm jaded after spending 4 years reviewing books on IG, but if social media is going to be talked about in a book, this was not the way to do it.
And lastly - the Christmas themed pasta mentioned was the final straw for me. Broccoli in red sauce? I'm done.
Perhaps I'm just not the target audience as someone who prefers books to be more realistic, but I like to think that I'm relatively decent at suspending any expectations that this style of novel is supposed to be believable. All in all, this totally missed the mark, and I can only hope my next Christmas read in 2022 is a better fit for my tastes.

I have read all of Schaler's books and I am never disappointed. This one really touched my heart I connected with Libby, and I loved her story so much. CeCe would be a welcome Aunt for me. I to like Libby have NO family so this just made my day reading her story. I hope you love this positive holiday read as much as I did.

This was a fun, festive Christmassy romp! This one seemed to be a little heavier than some of Schaler’s previous books, with Libby having lost her mother and having to come to terms with having no family at the holidays. I thought the hashtags bantering between Libby and the love interest was a bit more dragged out than it needed to be, but the story had a lovely ending. I love the idea of a Love Always, Christmas List! There was a lot of Christmas cheer, and fun festivities. It was a really cute read!

I thank Net Galley for giving me this book to read for a honest review in return. I enjoyed this Christmas story. Loved the cozy feeling even reading it on warm September days. I do hope this gets made into a Hallmark movie for the Christmas season.

This is my third novel by Karen Schaler having previously read A Royal Christmas Fairy Tale and Christmas Ever After. In Love Always, Christmas, Libby Larson is out running in Evergreen Valley, Seattle one December morning when she bumps into an inflatable Santa. The now squashed and deflated Santa belongs to Adam Thompson who has put it up for his mum. His parents, Larry and Carol have just moved to the area. Later, on her way to work an inflatable reindeer drifts in front of her car; once again it belongs to the Thompson family. When Libby arrives at work, the set she is working on for Santa Kitty proves unsuitable. Her client is Carter Pets and the star of the advertisement is a black cat with a white nose and paws, but the kitty is refusing to perform for Carter's campaign. Libby's friend and photographer, Tammi offers a suggestion and sends Libby off to fetch items for a stage change. Whilst doing this Libby finds an old unopened Christmas card and letter from a mystery friend of her late mum...
Karen Schaler has created some delightfully endearing characters in this gloriously festive tale and Rudolph was just the sweetest in the story. Love Always, Christmas, is highly recommended for those who love romances, Yuletide traditions, festive jumpers, and Crimbo ringtones.

Коледно настроение на макс е тази книга, много приятно четиво и забавно. Главната героиня, Либи, е голяма шматка, на моменти е леко неловко чак, но пък много ми допадна като персонаж. Като цяло няма какво толкова да разсъждавам върху сюжет, герои и т.н, все пак това си е една нормална коледна книга, пълна с нейните баналности, но поднесени сладко и много примамливо за читателя. Обичам такъв тип книги и филми, много малка част от книгите в този тип са ме разочаровали. Тази е още едно добро попадение към колекцията ми от коледни четива. Историята беше увлекателна и я прочетох сравнително бързо, главният герой - Адам, изключително приятен и той, заедно с кучето му. Още от първите страници го срещнахме и ми хареса с чар и харизма. Адам и Либи много ми харесаха като тандем и двойка, настороението беше коледно. Като цяло съм доволна и препоръчвам да се чете, авторката пише много хубави книги от този тип.

След това обаче много ми хареса как цялата общност се обединява и помага в труден момент на коледното градче... и накрая как намираш любовта...

This was a fun, (mostly) light Christmas story about love and loss, family secrets, and community spirit. Holly Peak and Evergreen Valley are quintessential Hallmark Christmas small towns, and anyone with an ounce of Christmas spirit would love to visit. I also appreciated how the characters' emotional arcs were handled - more realistic and not totally wrapped up in easy movie fashion. I think the use of the word "hashtag" could have been toned down, but it was still a wonderfully lovely holiday novel. Thanks to Netgalley and HawkTale publishing for the advance digital copy!

A fun holiday read with a mystery thrown in! Karen’s yearly Christmas stories have become a tradition each year and it’s one I really look forward to. This story was really good. It starts off with a hilarious opening scene and the rest of the story is one I liked a lot. The mystery element of the book really grabbed me and pulled me in to the story. Another winner from Karen!

I Just love christmas books, they give me a calm feeling inside me. Christmas spirit, Quick banters,.snowmen soulmates, ugly.christmas sweaters, old secrets, family ties, and a sweet romance. This book has it all. So pull on your fluffy socks, grab a blanket , drink.cocoa , light some candles and dive into this book.

A perfect hallmark Christmas movie. It has that small-town feel and the characters both hit you up with their charm very quickly. Libby with her quirky and Adam with his good-do attitude even if he's a bit sore at times. Libby having the 1st Christmas alone after the passing of her mother then finds an old photo album which leads her to a small town to meet Cece who's a connection to her past.

I couldn’t believe I was going to read a Christmas book by an author who’s wrote Christmas movies for Hallmark & Netflix!. What an absolute treat I’m in for.
This is a full on feel-good Christmas romance story that will warm your heart and have you feeling in the Christmas Spirit even when you’re reading it on a rainy day in October like I did.
The slow burn Romance between Libby and Adam kept me entertained all the way through but what made this book for me was the gorgeous scenery, the endearing cast of characters and most of all the feeling of Christmas and family.

I am a big Christmas Movie lover and I love the Christmas Prince movies. When I saw that Karen Schalers book Love Always, Christmas was coming out I just had to read it.
Adams parents have always wanted to move to Evergreen Valley. They have been waiting for a long time and now they are finally there. Evergreen Valley is known for their Christmas decorations and Adams parents are going to fit in well. Adam is there to help them settle in and to decorate.
Libby lives in her parents house on the same street. Her father died a while ago and she lost her mother earlier that year. Libby has just started her own production company and the house need a lot of repairing. She has two choices, to make a lot of money or to sell the house. She has one project booked that she hopes is going to solve the problem.
Adam and Libby have had 2 encounters both time because Libby has accidentally destroyed two of Adams parents Christmas decorations. They have one thing in common, they have both been burned in love and have no interest in a love life.
One day Libby goes through some old stuff in the attic and finds an unopened envelope from someone called CeCe. Inside there's a photo of her mother as a child and an older girl. The letter is sent from Holly Peak a town that has won the competition Best Christmas town. Libby decides to go there to check it out for an upcoming photo shoot that she has and also to try find out who this CeCe is.
Libby’s plan was to stay in Holly Peaks for a few hours but things happen and she ends up staying a little longer. She has more time getting to know CeCe and a certain someone who also lives there.
This book has it all, it has love, humor, Christmas, food, a cute puppy and a little sadness. I loved all the characters in this book.

It's getting to be that time of year again, as time flies. Sounds of mixed feelings depending on who you are talking to. I love getting into the Christmas Spirit and reading Award winning Karen Schaler's new Christmas novel has motivated me to do some extra decorating this year. This book really delivers the Christmas vibrations with just the descriptions of the atmospheric setting--a virtual Christmas Wonderland with beautifully decorated scenes both outside of the characters homes, which they go all out, but also inside their homes, as well.
Libby is a young woman who collides with Adam outside their parents homes when she crushes a large inflatable Santa Clause. Adam says that she has to buy its replacement from Germany. These two are like oil and vinegar at first. Libby is trying to hold onto her family home and is a marketing representative in Advertising. She is the only child of two deceased parents and is of the mind of some folks who just want to get the holiday over with and would skip it if she could.
Libby is upstairs in her parents attic and in a box discovers an unopened envelope, which her friend and colleague Tammi encourages Libby to open the card. Inside a photo album that belonged to her mother who she misses, she finds a childhood picture of her Mom beside a young girl her mother never told her about. Libby lives in Seattle, Washington, but takes a day to find the other girl in the picture by going to another village that really takes time to decorate for Christmas complete with Holly berries and Douglas Fir Trees with lights and beautiful ornaments. She learns that the girl in the picture is a woman in her sixties that is well loved in this quaint town in the Mountains. The woman's name is CeCe. Adam is also the town manager whose job it is to win the best decorated town in the State competition. He also deeply cares for CeCe. CeCe is an admirable woman who although she lives alone is active in doing things, and she starts getting ready for Christmas in October.
As Libby is asking CeCe if she is the mysterious person with Libby's mother the picture gets blown out of their hands, and as they both run to catch it, CeCe falls down and gets a concussion by hitting her head. Libby takes her to a clinic, but the Doctor who CeCe knows only releases her if someone can spend the night and monitor her. This is something Libby volunteers to do. The next morning CeCe makes a delicious recipe of pancakes and Adam stops by. Libby has also made the trip to see if the town's Christmas decorations is a place that she is going to pitch to a client and I agreed with her that it is lovely.
I was struck by the striking Christmas decorating and Christmas Spirit that these characters that Libby gets to know. CeCe has Christmas crystal angel figurines and beautifully decorated Douglas Fir trees in all of the rooms in her house. Libby doesn't like Nutcrackers and overturns them in CeCe's home.
This was a charming and certainly a big hit for me for getting ready for Christmas. It actually has a gorgeous plot and characters and stunning settings throughout the story. This is an excellent choice for those who need a slight nudge to help them kick start to prepare for the time of year that happiness is in the spirit of giving and not receiving. I loved this Christmas themed novel and recommend it to everyone. It is a feel good story without being a sappy predictable romance at its center. Animal lovers will find delight in this Christmas story and people who love delectable food with a sensual setting. This Christmas story is special and warmed my heart and is perfect for those who like Libby would rather not celebrate it because they don't have family find the Christmas spirit through good friends and community. While I was reading this I kept remembering one Christmas night driving in the car with loved ones and Viewing neighborhoods that lit up their houses and yards strung with Brilliant Christmas lights and attending a midnight Christmas Eve Mass when I was six years old. This book was able to evoke many more golden Christmas memories of the past that I had forgotten. Five Stars!

If you love Christmas, if you want to read a real christmas book with lots of christmassy things happening and lots of descriptions of christmas decorations and atmosphere this book is for you!!! And to top it all, this book is super well written and the storyline is perfect! I didn't know what to expect, and actually I was a bit afraid to be a bit bored by this book but all the contrary happened! I absolutely loved that book and could only recommend it all the christmas lovers out there!!!

When going through her mom's things she finds an envelope that will take her on a journey that she did not expect. While on her journey she meets Adam who stirs feelings inside her. This was a good holiday romance.

What a wonderful heartfelt Christmas story! It was inspirational, not cheesy, made me giggle, shed a tear and gave me hope. This was a new author for me, certainly won’t be my last read from her. It’s a cute Rom-com with some mystery set at the ultimate Christmas town. Holly Peak is in the mountains near Seattle. This is where Libby is juggling as a new entrepreneur starting a Social media company while trying to pay the mortgage on her parents house. The loss of her Mom, best friend and last living relative was devastating. Her conniving X-boyfriend broke her heart.
Libby no longer looks forward to all the Christmas festivities, too many memories just make her sad. Most everything bad that ever happened in my own life was around the Christmas holiday, so I totally sympathized with her emotions. She is keeping herself busy just to get through the loss and grief. Her parents had organized the neighborhood decorating into an annual event. Now hers is the only house not bedecked.
Libby is always in a hurry, a clumsy accident waiting to happen. In a twist of fate she literally runs into her new neighbors son, Adam. The hilarious incidents escalate and had me in stiches. I absolutely fell in love with Libby! She was so realistic, funny and she would be my new favorite friend. Later as she and her best friend, Tammi, are searching through Christmas boxes an unopened card falls out.
That twenty year old Christmas card sends Libby on a search for the sender, to a magical town called Holly Peak. She again bumps into Adam and before long the sparks are flying like snowflakes. The Christmas card precipitates unimaginable changes to everything in Libby’s life. The adventures keep coming, long hidden secrets are revealed, and even more questions arise. Family is complicated, so is love and forgiveness. Libby has so much going on my head spun! If you want a Christmas book with all of the holiday spirit, sense of community, love, and one hilarious misfortune after another, this book is for you!
Libby Larson is facing her first Christmas without her mom, and is also at risk of losing her family home in Seattle. While trying to launch a new campaign for her business, she has some hilarious run ins with inflatables, the neighbors grouchy son Adam, and a fiasco with the cat ‘Santa Kitty’ that she’s trying to launch the campaign of. While trying to create a new holiday set for the photo shoot from her families decorations, she finds an unopened Christmas card from 20+ years prior. She goes on an adventure to the town Holly Peak to find Cece, the cards sender, and ends up running into, literally, no one other than Adam! Libby Larson is facing her first Christmas without her mom, and is also at risk of losing her family home in Seattle. While trying to launch a new campaign for her business, she has some hilarious run ins with inflatables, the neighbors grouchy son Adam, and a fiasco with the cat ‘Santa Kitty’ that she’s trying to launch the campaign of. While trying to create a new holiday set for the photo shoot from her families decorations, she finds an unopened Christmas card from 20+ years prior. She goes on an adventure to the town Holly Peak to find Cece, the cards sender, and ends up running into, literally, no one other than Adam! Book 180 of 2022
I stumbled upon Karen Schaler’s “Christmas Camp” last year, and I remember seeing how easily it lent itself to a movie. I believe I even said I would probably like the movie better than the novel (which is unusual)! This is another sweet Christmas story set in the most picturesque holiday town(s). The main characters don’t get off on the right foot, but the spirit of Christmas prevails, as it always does, by the end of the story. Every detail of these small mountain towns was well thought out.
Where I took off a star was because of Libby’s family. On one hand, she’s devastated by the loss of her mother & not wanting to face her first Christmas without her mom. As the book goes on, her mom and grandparents’ character was called (somewhat) into question. I didn’t feel like their characters were consistent. Otherwise, this was a cute Christmas story that I would definitely watch on Hallmark!

I didn’t think my heart could get any fuller, and then that hashtag from Adam did it. So many people shared their love and time to help the the town.
As with every Karen Schaler book you get so much more than you bargained for. Right from the very start I felt like I was there along side Libby and Adam. The descriptions of the Christmas decorations and the streets were so detailed and beautiful, it was actually a bit disappointing when I looked up from reading and reality wasn’t as beautiful as Holly Peak.
The family story of CeCe and Libby is heartbreaking, and my heart went out to both of them, I’m really happy that they finally connected. Libby and Adams love story was lovely and it was nice to see it slowly develop, the friendship and mutual trust and respect finally evolving to a beautiful love story. A real Christmas hug in a book.

I absolutely adored this Christmas romcom. It’s such a light festive read that’s perfect for the holiday. I’ve seen it compared a lot to hallmark movies and honestly it’s way better than that! This is my first book by this author but it will not be my last. I love her writing style, and the characters she writes.
Libby has faced many hardships with her dad, with to cancel, but she is determined not to give up. She wants to continue her fathers legacy. Once Libby and Adam meet the story gets even better. Although they don’t exactly have the meet cute you’re expecting. This story left me wanting to visit these towns and immerse myself in the holiday spirit! I can’t forget to mention the fact there’s some mystery to this story, with secrets that will be unraveled. It truly keeps you wanting more!
