I received this book as an ARC but this review is my own opinion.
This is a tale of witches, werewolves, vampires and much more. This is a fast paced book that kept my interest from the get go. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between the characters, the Spike references had me! I can’t wait to see where JN Moon takes us in the next book.
I got this as an ARC read and I appreciate the opportunity! The "Ok, Edward" sent me 😂 I liked the Twilight references lol I didn't care for how quickly the FMC fell in love. She even states she doesn't know him. I get attraction, but falling in love so swiftly without build up, isn't my thing. A decent read overall.
The story has a lot of promise. She’s an innocent witch who’s just trying to protect her friends. But the book… it tried too hard. it used language much larger than the story called for. When you read fantasy you’re reading to escape reality but multiple times the words (not even just different UK versions of the words) forced me out of the story because I needed to google or look something up. This isn’t how the average person talks. We say translucent or lethargic not some thesaurus version. I know writing is hard. I know putting your word out there into the hands of others is hard. But fiction and fantasy are escapism reads. We want the story to take us away. immerse us. There were also some missing plot points and forced dialogue. We didn’t get much of how people were feeling. Too many details of the rooms and not enough of the people. The nonverbal cues. Even where they were located in the moment. And the scene at the end of the book, when Lycaon and Elsa finally get together. It’s… it’s missing flow. It feels rushed and like an afterthought. It’s a good story but it’s missing a lot. The characters aren’t very relatable to me, because I don’t get to know much about them aside from look he’s mad just kidding he’s nice. I like the world created though.
I received a free arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
An Wow!!!
I loved this book, Lycaon and Elsa had chemistry from the moment they met.
The way that the characters smoothly and effortlessly worked throughout the book regardless of whether they were vampires, werewolves, witches or dragons shifters being introduced into the scenes was done beautifully.
The characters were very lovable with the banter that easily flowed between them all. It was a fast paced story and easy to keep up with the storylines. It’s left on a cliffhanger for sure! However JN Moon cleverly put in the first chapter of the next book which grips you even more than she had in this book and I seriously can’t wait to uncover what happens in the rest of the series.
I loved the bonus information giving you an insight on the historical significance’s!
Although I enjoyed the storyline, the pacing felt rushed, and some plot points and characters were unclear. The lack of clear explanations left me struggling to understand certain aspects.
I didn't like how Elsa was attracted to every male she was around; it would have been better if she was not lusting around every male and undeniably attracted to Lycaon.
I didn't felt any connection between Elsa and Lycaon it felt rushed.
Around 70% of the book became challenging to read, with unclear passages. Despite these issues, the book holds great potential, especially if the writing style is refined for a more immersive experience.
Had potential but failed in execution. I liked the sort of who-done-it mystery that unravels into a larger plot. However, all crises seemed to be remedied easily. I also found it sad that the father of all werewolves seemed so weak. He was constantly being beaten. The same can be said for the other shifters they come across. It was also boring that every time they failed and then came up with a new plan, and were like "you know what would help?" and someone was like "I know a guy". It just felt like they always had a solution at their fingertips, yet still failed. It left me not really caring about what was going on. I will not be continuing the series.
This urban fantasy romance features a fast-paced story with witches, mages, wolves, dragons, and vampires. The slow burn romance, magic, danger, and drama keep readers engaged. The world building, character chemistry, and banter are highlights. I would really like to see less of FMC lusting after every man she encounters, but other then that, the story pulled me right in and kept me entertained. I am really looking forward to book 2! I was given this as a ARC for a honest opinion and that is what I have given you here. I hope more ppl give this story a chance.
I was given this ARC for free, and want to thank JN Moon for this opportunity. I am leaving this review voluntarily. This story was built on a great foundation, and left me wanting more. For me it was a fast paced read.I enjoyed the diversity in characters throughout the story. The main character is a strong willed young woman. Elsa wants to do what is right even if the choice is difficult. My favorite quote is ‘ He twisted his lips. “No. Do you want me to?”-Lycaon’
Forbidden romance Slow burn Witches, dragons, and wolfs oh my!
This was the perfect book for October! It has was a very easy read and was really fast paced. You jump right into the story, which i didn't hate. There are a lot of characters introduced in the beginning but i loved getting to learn about everyone. I also enjoyed Elsa's character and how she was always up for a challenge. I can't wait to see where her story goes in the next book!
This is an exciting and thrilling urban fantasy romance. A well written and fast paced story that draws you in as we follow Lycaon and Elsa on this extraordinary adventure. Witches, mages, wolves, dragons, vampires, slow burn romance, magic, danger, drama, this draws you from start to finish. Fantastic world building, secrets and lies, our characters have incredible chemistry and fantastic banter and I look forward to reading more of this series.
I always say I will not read a series unless it is complete but clearly I don’t know how to listen…
Ugh!! I love/hate a good cliffhanger!! 😩 I love a good slow burn, and lots of action, which this book has. I like to read to escape reality as I’m sure many others do, and after a stressful day at work, this book what just what I needed. I’m loving the main characters energy and cannot wait for book 2!!
I liked the premise and storyline well enough: a young witch, struggling to fit into her local coven, finds herself in the midst of an ancient power struggle among supernatural creatures, only to fall in love with a werewolf in the meantime.
Where I struggled was the writing itself. Some of the scenes felt rushed, almost like the author wrote a brief summary of what was to happen and forgot to flesh it out.
Another thing that bothered me was how Elsa found herself physically attracted to basically every male character she encountered. This caused me to wonder which of the werewolves she met would be her eventual love interest. Her undeniable attraction to the werewolf in question would've made more sense if she wasn't lusting after the other men around her.
Overall a decent story with potential, but I would've enjoyed it more with more mature writing.
This story sucked me right in! The flow is fast and easy to read, the world building and characters are seamless. The one thing I don't like is the cliffhanger...I want more now! I love this author and I am never disappointed!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Awesome book! Filled with witches, dragons, vampires and more. Battles, love, adventure. Magic and emotional rollercoaster. A little bit of spice! I felt like I could relate to Elsa . (Coffee lover and a witch!) I could picture every character and the scenes. It had me on the edge of my seat!! I can’t wait to read book 2!!!
I enjoyed this story as it was an interesting world that JN Moon has created. This fast paced story had so much packed in it.
I did find it a little hard to keep up with all the characters however this is the first book I have read from this author so the characters could be from a interconnected series, I haven’t looked into that yet.
I received this book as an ARC . It was a great book. I really enjoyed it and finished it in a day and a half. Elsa and Lycaon are great characters and a great pairing. I loved all the other characters too. I can't wait till the next book in the series comes out!
I loved this book! I can't wait to see what comes in the next one! Will the amara be taken down, or will its reign continue? I have enjoyed Elsa's journey so far!
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the characters and the storyline. The original werewolf, the father of them all! Was seriously awesome. The way the author brought it all together had me reading till I fell asleep. Very nice JN Moon, I'm definitely a fan!
I liked the premise of the book, but could not fully connect to the characters, or with the writing. The use of more difficult words than necessary did detract from overall enjoyment, as well as the rush of "love" to someone she doesn't know. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
I have more questions than answers; Why are there no female wolves? How is Elsa attracted to every male shifter she meets (wolf, dragon, mage, vampire)? I’m at 86% and I’m yet to read that Elsa has eaten anything apart from coffee. does the main character not eat? How does she have the energy?

I received this book as an ARC and I’m thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the launch of this book.
I enjoyed the book and the relationship between the MMC and the MFC but I did feel like I’d missed out on some sort of previous context. I think I may have been thrown off because when the ARC download opened, it opened 3/4 of the way through the book and I didn’t realize until I was 3-4 chapters in and had to start from the beginning. Because of that, I kept going back and remembering parts of previously read and it just kind of jumbled together.
Overall, I did love the book and I wish their relationship had been highlighted a little more throughout. They had such a deep connection instantly but then were subsequently separated several times thereafter.

From the moment I started reading this book I was instantly intrigued. You get brought straight into the story in a good way.
The pacing? Spot on. This isn't a novel that lingers unnecessarily. It's a brisk, straight-to-the-point story that makes for a perfect weekend read. Yet despite its swift pace, there's depth to be found in every chapter.
One of the standout features was how seamlessly the author introduced new characters. Instead of jarring breaks or clumsy introductions, each new character felt like a natural addition, weaving effortlessly into the existing narrative.
The dynamic between the characters truly shines. Their playful banter is a highlight, striking a balance between genuine, heartfelt moments and light-hearted exchanges. The relaxed writing style of the author gives the narrative a comfortable, engaging flow, without losing its depth or significance.
And let's talk about that ending – enticing, to say the least! It leaves a lingering promise of more adventures, which I am certainly looking forward to.
Received this ARC in exchange for a sincere review, and it truly delivered.
