Christine Pattle writes thrillers. Countless hours spent watching every high-octane film available in her youth instilled a permanent love of edge-of-your-seat suspense. She soon moved from film to books, devouring all things thriller, crime and mystery.
When she’s not writing, she’s busy scaring herself silly riding big, feisty horses, or walking around the countryside dreaming up exciting new plots. As if that wasn't enough, she still manages to squeeze in the day job, trying to make small budgets do great things in the fight against homelessness.
This time it's Alfie who gets himself into trouble and Rose comes to his rescue. Alfie's daughter, who he hasn't seen since she was eight and her mother remarried and moved to New Zealand, comes to town. As part of her job as an environmental engineer, she is abducted while investigating the local dump. Alfie goes looking for her and he disappears, also. Another four human trafficking victims are added to the mix, and their lives are all in danger. The man abducted along with Billie, Alfie's daughter, dies. The traffickers are frightened by all the search activity going on and decide to move their captives to a new location. The writing is top notch-riveting! The characters are believable. I highly recommend Dark Shadow! Jean, ARC Team
I enjoyed learning more about Alfie, who has been a minor character from the other stories. Thankfully the others are all back as well, although the story is easily a standalone. Just like the others, this ends with another mystery. Can't wait for the next Murder Mile story!
A great story filled with love, intrigue, twists & turns. Well written with complex characters & and plot that will keep you reading well into the night.
This thriller keeps you turning the pages to find out what the next twist/turn will be! I highly recommend this book along with the rest of the series. You will not be disappointed!
