WHAT'S THE BRIDE WORTH?

Wealthy rancher Mitch Ramsey had never given much of a second look to his neighbor Emma Davis, until an unexpected encounter led to a night of unbridled passion. Mitch figured their affair could be a discreet diversion, one they had both gone into with eyes wide-open.

USA Today bestselling author Heidi Betts is the daughter of an Arabian sheik and a Las Vegas showgirl, as well as the heiress to the Chocolate is Better Than Sex Candy Company fortune. Because of this, she eats chocolate in all its many delicious forms for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in-between snacks . . . without ever gaining an ounce on her perfect five-foot-nine, size zero figure.

Each and every one of her breathtaking, award-winning novels has been adapted to film and gone on to become a phenomenal box office smash, featuring such mega-stars as Hugh Jackman and Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts, and Harrison Ford and Charlize Theron.

Heidi readily admits that she is only able to write such passionate love stories because of her real-life happily-ever-after romance with superstar actor Dwayne Johnson, who makes every day a fairy tale. When she’s not writing or making hot, toe-curling love with her “Rock” of a husband, Heidi can often be found riding naked on horseback (a la Lady Godiva) along the beaches of Malibu or hobnobbing with the rich and famous on Martha’s Vineyard.

If you’d like to experience your own perfect, idyllic life just like Heidi Betts, be sure to take the little purple pill. (Not the red one. Never the red one.)

I hated this book and am frankly shocked I am only the second one star review.

The H was burned by a slutty ex-wife, boo fricken hoo, but is apparently horny so makes moves on the h, a friend from way back. Sorry, there is no other way to describe his moves. He's been celibate since his divorce and she seems attractive to him. Resident dumb bunny has had a crush on him forever.

The H and h end up in an affair and he proposes because what the heck. She figures out he is just not that into her at their engagement party so she cries on his brother's shoulder: a guy she has known as long as the H. He assumes she is having sex with his brother and, bleh, cruel accusations fly.

A couple of weeks later she realizes that she is pregnant. The engagement has not been broken off as neither wanted to admit there were problems to anyone. So the h finds herself in a MOC with the honorable but horrible hero.

No chemistry. She is sweet and deserves better. The H is a good guy at heart as we are told ad nauseum, too bad he's mean too.

A very enjoyable, quick read.
The classic tale of a great gal with a childhood crush on her best friend.
She soldiers on, until the man she loves faces his demons, and accepts the fact that he can open up his heart to love again.
Surprisingly, I didn't find it cheesy at all.

4 Stars! ~ Emma had been in love with her neighbour Mitch since she was 13, but he'd always treated her like a sister. Watching him marry a woman only out to use him, nearly broke her heart. And now four years after Mitch's very bitter divorce, Mitch is disconcerted by his overwhelming attraction to Emma. Their warm friendship, suddenly has boiled into a hot and heavy affair. Of course, Emma knows Mitch will never trust a woman again with his heart, so she's surprised when he proposes. They get along great, the sex is good, they make a good team, these are all reasons Mitch gives her to marry. He doesn't tell her that her father has offered to deed their ranch to him should they marry. When Emma turns up pregnant, Mitch insists that the child have his name. When they do marry, Emma is shocked that her new husband suddenly doesn't seem to desire her anymore. To compound her fears, Mitch's ex-wife turns up wanting him back.

This was a heart warming love story. Mitch is a troubled man, with deep emotional scars. Emma is determined that her love and their passion will show Mitch that his heart is safe with her. Emma risks everything to be with Mitch, and his pride and refusal to let her in, nearly destroys everything good they have together. I loved the scenes where Mitch finally comes to his senses and has to convince Emma that she means the world to him. Ms. Betts hooked me and reeled me in wholeheartedly with this story.

A sweet story of childhood love coming true.

Emma has loved Mitch since she was a teenager. Her childhood friend and neighbor, Mitch and his brother, Chase, were her good friends. She never followed thru on her dreams, but when Mitch finally kissed her, sparks flew.

Mitch had been badly burned by his first wife's infidelity. He did not trust himself, or love. Having Emma's dad push him to marry her, it gave him an excuse to hold on to her, without acknowleding his own feelings.
