I never warmed to the art of Jon Bogdonove back in the day. I have only recently come to see that he may have been directly emulating the artwork of Joe Shuster himself, and playing to some innate strength he had in doing so. One thing I am now old and savvy enough to pick up in this re-read is the allusion to George Reeves’ trademark spectacular entrances by crashing through the wall (“Classic!” young Kieth exclaims; presumably the storytellers winking to the readers). The Cerberus storyline never excited me, and this re-read hasn’t increased my enthusiasm as it was did very little service to the overall saga as I can remember it.
