Why does the Book of Prophecies smell so familiar?
If this suspect-sniffing werewolf is lucky, the grimoire will lead Noema to the family she can't remember. Or will it destroy the 'pack' she has now?
Every decade, an ancient pirate ship appears on Bewitcher's Beach's shore, and residents celebrate a reunion holiday with the ghosts of long-dead pirates. But where there are ghosts, there is also danger, and with the spell that once protected the town gone, Noema's found family is exposed.
When the town votes for Noema's plan to restore the protection spell, she finds the grimoire with the answers is missing and the last warlock to attempt the magic is dead. Even worse, her hunt for the Book of Prophecies and a newfound romance pull her into a murder investigation that leads her to the opposite end of the killer's weapon.
Staring down death just when she hoped to meet an ancestor, Noema must rely on the family she's built in Bewitcher's Beach to survive.

A sweet story about supernatural creatures, found family, an amateur sleuth, and maybe a love triangle?
This book is so much fun and now I dream of my 10th birthday party at our local roller rink and cotton candy and Saturday morning cartoons! (Literally craving certain smells and tastes from childhood memories!)
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this ARC and will definitely be purchasing a physical copy!
I love 90s nostalgia. The lore behind this series just keeps getting better. I'm Team Sourdough, but Team Skates isn't bad either. I love found family books.
I was sent this as an arc. The review is my honest opinion.
This was such a fun, nostalgic read! Despite having a love triangle (which I'm not a fan of, personally), this book was actually even better than the first! I read it in two settings because I just *had* to know how things worked out in the end! And wow, what an ending! Just absolutely fantastic! I can't wait for the next book!
I have loved the Bewitcher's Beach Mystery series, by Emily Fluke, from the start. I've been eagerly anticipating book 2 since I finished the first full length novel in the series and the novellas. The wait for book 2 was over this month and it did not disappoint!
Every ten years a pirate ship appears on Bewitcher's Beach. Residents of the small town come together to celebrate a reunion with ghosts of pirates who have passed on. This also brings danger with the protection spell over Bewitcher's Beach gone.
The town votes for Noema to restore the protection spell that is in the grimoire, but The Book of Prophecies is missing. Furthermore, the last warlock to attempt the magic is found dead. Soon, single mom and werewolf, Noema, finds herself in the midst of a murder investigation...and a love triangle like no other. She wants to give her pups the holiday celebration they deserve and she also wants to find her long lost family. Can she find the grimoire and restore the protection spell in time to accomplish these goals, while also sorting out her feelings for two different characters? Or will she miss the opportunity?
What a ride this book was! I really enjoyed seeing familiar characters from previous installments, as well as meeting new ones. All of these characters are well-developed, yet they all still have even more room to grow.
What I love most about this series is the world building. This is a paranormal cozy with some interesting characters and a unique setting. Bewitcher's Beach's residents include humans, ghosts, fairies, werewolves, gargoyles, witches, and more! I never felt overwhelmed by the wide range of characters. They are all interesting and fun to get to know. Some of them may not even be who they first appear to be!
The mystery is strong with lots of twists and turns. I love how the subplots are woven into the mystery. It's a complex plot, but tied together masterfully. I did not know who the culprit was and I was shocked by the big reveal. Also surprising was the way one of the subplots unfolded. I can't stay too much without giving away spoilers. You just have to read it!
While this is a much more complex and deeper plot than previous installments, it maintains the nostalgia I so loved in those other books. The series is set in the 1990s. That decade was a significant part of my life and I enjoyed traveling back to that time period.
If you enjoy paranormal cozies, you will not want to overlook this series. And if you're on the fence about paranormal cozies, give this one a try. I have a feeling you will enjoy the ride. While each one is a self-contained mystery, you will want to start at the beginning to follow the subplots. So grab the popcorn (it's mentioned throughout the series and you will crave it) and get started! I felt satisfied at the end of this book, but it also left me eager to read the next one!
Thank you to Emily Fluke for providing me with an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book and in fact I am just loving the whole series, yes I know it is only book two but still I want the next book. Both books have proved to be entertaining and captivating. I love the characters, authors can have so much fun when writing about super natural characters because they can use there imagination. This is certainly the case with this author but she gets it right and backs it up with a great mystery story too. Okay there might not be a huge suspect list but there is still a few surprises that I didn't see coming. It's also fun that the main mystery does get solved but you also learn a little bit more about Noema and the town with each book.I hope I don't have to wait long for the next book to find out more. With the town no longer protected, there is talk about cancelling the once a decade visit from the ghostly pirate ship. Noema was hoping the captain of the ghost shop would have answers to her family history and the only way to make sure the celebrations with the ghosts goes ahead is by recreating the protection spell. The witch who was going to try fails to turn up when a storm hits the town, then the grimoire containing the spell goes missing and one of the only know witches in town is killer. Can Noema use her werewolf sniffing skills to find another witch, the spell and a killer or is it already to late? I like the narrator. She uses her own magic to create believable characters, each with there own voice. She also manages to take you a roller coaster of emotions as the story unfolds. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Summoning, Skating, and Skulls by Emily Fluke, narrated by Madeline Mrozek, is Book 2 in the Bewitcher's Beach Paranormal Cozy Mysteries series. After listening to Book 1, I was looking forward to finding out what happened next in this series; I’m happy to report that Book 2 begins where Book 1 left off. For this reason, I recommend you start at the beginning (even though it isn’t entirely necessary). Getting to know the town, its people, and the amazing Noema (my favorite character) is a must! Despite being a werewolf, she is super relatable and very down to earth. Emily Fluke does a great job with character development, and I love that the same characters are reintroduced in this book, as well as their relationships with one another.
As for the narration, Madeline Mrozek again proves why she is a favorite among so many audiobook listeners! Her ability to bring characters to life is unmatched. The distinct voices she uses help move the story along, and her tone is always spot-on. She makes each scene easy to follow, and she always keeps me laughing! For this reason, I recommend listening to the audiobook (either on its own or alongside the Kindle version), so you can get the full experience.
Summoning, Skating, and Skulls: Bewitcher's Beach Paranormal Cozy Mysteries, Book 2 by Emily Fluke, narrated by Madeline Mrozek, deserves 5/5 stars! If you love clean mysteries with characters who feel like friends you’ve known your whole life, this is the perfect book (and series) for you. I promise you won’t be disappointed! Thanks for reading my review; I hope it was helpful. Happy listening! :-)
Summoning, Skating, and Skulls by Emily Fluke was absolutely worth the wait. I’ve been hooked on the Bewitcher’s Beach Mystery series since book one and the novellas, and diving back into this world felt like coming home—if home was full of ghosts, spells gone wrong, and pirate reunions.
The setup is wild in the best way: every ten years a ghostly pirate ship shows up, and the town throws a celebration. But this time, the protective spell over Bewitcher’s Beach is gone, and things quickly spiral into danger. Noema—werewolf, single mom, and queen of holding it all together—is tasked with restoring the protection magic. Only problem? The grimoire is missing, the last person who tried it is dead, and suddenly she’s in the middle of a murder mystery and a love triangle.
I loved seeing familiar characters return and meeting new ones who instantly felt like part of the pack. The world Emily Fluke has built is rich and cozy, even with the dark twists. Ghosts, witches, gargoyles, and more—all woven in so naturally. I never feel overwhelmed, just curious and invested.
The mystery had me guessing the entire time, and one particular subplot hit me in a way I did not expect. No spoilers, but wow. Also—the 90s setting? Such a perfect nostalgic touch. And yes, the popcorn cravings are real.
This book had it all: humor, heart, danger, and just the right amount of chaos. I was satisfied by the end, but already dying for the next one. If you love paranormal cozies with big heart and even bigger twists, this series is a must.
Get ready for a wild ride in *Summoning, Skating, and Skulls*, where ghostly pirates, secret spells, and a touch of romance make for an unforgettable adventure! When the Book of Prophecies goes missing, Noema's quest to restore Bewitcher’s Beach’s magical protection turns into a high-stakes race against time and danger.
Imagine a town where every decade, ghost pirates reappear, and chaos follows. Now, throw in a grimoire that holds the key to saving—or destroying—everything Noema holds dear. As if that’s not enough, she’s swept into a murder mystery that’s more treacherous than a ghost ship’s final voyage.
With danger lurking at every corner and a sizzling new romance, Noema must rely on her makeshift family and her own fierce determination to navigate this magical mayhem. Emily Fluke delivers a cozy paranormal mystery that’s equal parts spooky and spicy, blending small-town charm with 90s nostalgia and a dash of danger.
If you’re craving a tale of enchantment, intrigue, and a heroine who skates through peril with style, this book is your perfect escape. Buckle up because this rollercoaster of magic and mystery will leave you eagerly flipping pages and wishing for more!
Look, I know I’ve said it before… But I’m gonna say it again. I love these cozy nostalgic reads from Emily!!! Summoning, Skating, and Skulls picks up where Book 1 of the series leaves us…. Intrusive thought - These need to be in one ginormous book so I can then flip through the pages without even having to take a moment to grab the next one!! 😬♥️
Our favorite super sleuth is at it again, only this time, the suspicion is at her very own doorstep!! With the magical surroundings of the town at jeopardy and the upcoming ghost pirate reunion holiday (ugghhh… why can’t we have things like this?!), she’s doing everything she can to figure out what’s going on while staying out of the way of our favorite hunky Sherriff Sett (SWOON 🤤) and his ex-girlfriend who is his new partner in the department (Yes… You can totally hate on her. Don’t feel bad. Seriously. Just trust me on this).
If you haven’t already, what are you waiting for?!! I hope you all enjoy this book just as much as I did!! Thank you Emily for the advanced reader copy ♥️♥️
This is the second Bewitchers Beach book. Though it could stand alone but you’d be missing out. If you’ve been a long time follower of mine, you know that I love Emily Fluke, her books always just hit the right way. I was very excited to read her second book in the Beeitchers Beach series, Summoning, Skating, and Skulls. I want this to be a real town and I want to live there. Fluke has an amazing way of setting a scene. She also knows her tension. The romantic entanglements in this book left me so frustrated. Noema has two choices and honestly I’d root for either. The mystery for this second book took me by surprise. I thought the motive was going one way and then plot twist. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens next to these characters. I think this cozy mystery series is going to be a good one from Emily Fluke.
Getting to know the characters in this series has been amazing so far. Each one has their own particular personality and their own favorite things. This book I especially got to know what a few things about the main character Noema, including how she can smell emotions on a person leading her to assist is solving so many cases.
This book gave us a look at a character by the name of Judy. The librarian with a passion for protecting her books & more than a few anger management issues. I actually enjoyed her aggressive & possessive approach giving light to book dragon as a term.
Once again, I felt like I wanted to visit all the Cozy nostalgia of Bewitcher's Beach.
Another murder mystery and I loved it just as much!! You go more depth about every character, meet a few new ones, and help figure out who the murder is!! I was getting better and figuring out who it might be but it still throws you into a loop!!! Also I love the recipes at the end of the book. I've never had a book do that but I'm definitely going to be making some of these. I honestly cannot wait for book three, I need to know what happens with Noema and the rest of her pack. Plus I need to know what happens with her love life. If there's an in-between book between this book and the third one. I will definitely be reading that too. I feel like they tie everything in together was giving little details. So make sure you read all the little books in there, the Pre-Sequel and book 1.5!!
The towns folk are excited about the visit of a ghost pirate ship that happens every ten years. Well most people are. There are still some who are afraid, especially since the towns protections are down. They are also upset because a murderer is on the loose. They killed a warlock who was trying to restore the protection spell and the spell also disappeared. Noema found the body and she is anxious to find the spell. In her attempts to find the spell she finds a possible new love interest, a new witch in town and that someone is now trying to stop her. With her hopes that one of her ancestors might be on the pirate ship, Noema is trying hard to figure out who the killed is, so that the pirate ship can come to shore. Another enjoyable story in this series.
3.75⭐️ i enjoyed this more than the first! I’m really getting into the paranormal cozy mystery genre & I love the nostalgic 90s halloween vibes of this series.
Every 10 years a ghost pirate ship visits Bewitcher’s Beach, but this year, with the protection spell over the town being broken, the town is at risk & thinking of canceling the holiday. Noema takes it upon herself to see that this tradition continues, the only problem is the Book of Prophecies that is needed to restore the protection spell is missing & there has been another murder in town.
I received this as an audio ARC & am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Noema is a mother of quadruplets, small business owner, playwright, and werewolf. Being a werewolf, Noema is more like a K9 cop without a handler. Come for the characters and laughs, stay for the plot twists and suspense! I loved this fun piece of paranormal nostalgia! Voice actor Madeline Mrazek is always provides a great interpretation/listen with all the voices, emotions, and hints of both overt and suppressed laughter. I won this fun audiobook in a giveaway. Yea for me! #BookDragon
I love these cozy murder mysteries by Emily Fluke. They are fun and suspenseful without being too frightening. This book seemed shorter than the last two but was still good and was not a remixed version of the first two, which is refreshing. I literally can't wait for the next book to come out in March. I wish there was a way I could read it early lol.
This book made me smile. Such a nice break from crazy life. Some of the things I thoroughly enjoyed were the setting and banter between characters, whom I love. The details add a whimsical but real feeling to this continuation of the story. Perfect for a quick read that leaves you satisfied, but wanting more from this little town!
This book is so much fun! The chapter headings are delightful, the worldbuilding is fantastic, and the story is captivating with wonderful characters. I loved the ending!
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
This story was definitely more complex, and I loved how casual/natural the 90s references were (they didn't feel forced). I also love the complexities with Noema's smell abilities. The mystery was very interesting and fast paced, and the culprit surprised me!
4.75 I loved the second book just as much as i loved the first one! The coziness and nostalgia persist while the mysteries keep me guessing. Love, love, love the main character. I’m definitely thinking about getting a physical copy of this series… I’m excited to read the third one!
This series is just cozy mysteries set in Halloweentown, and I love that. The first half of this one wasn't really grabbing me, but the second half picked up.
Summoning, Skating, and Skulls is the second book in the Betweticher's Beach series and you must read the book to understand this one.
There has been another death in town and now the effort must be increased tenfold before another death or poltergeists could hurt anyone. Noema has been trying to figure out a way to get the wards back up to protect the citizens of Bewitchers Beach from another catastrophe.
Why this book is amazing: ~Single POV ~Paranormal Mystery ~Set in the 90's ~Werefolves, ghosts, gargoyles and more
