My sewing skills are probably at the intermediate level, yet there are many things I learned from this book. Notably, I learned about the importance of using your selected pattern to make a muslin toile (basically an inexpensive, quick, unlined, unfinished version of a garment) to make sure the fit is perfect, make adjustments to the pattern as needed, then use the adjusted pattern pieces on the more expensive fabric.
I was disappointed that there isn’t a section on how to make alterations to ready-made clothing, which is why this book gets 4 stars from me.
