This was a good book on AI threats and opportunities. I think Harari explained the concept of democracy better and more clearly outlined the dangers AI poses to it in his book “Nexus.” I also think the language was fairly poor; it seems like nobody edited it, or if they did, they weren’t a native English speaker.
That said, I like how this book focuses on what could be done to address AI. The concrete suggestions for strengthening democracy and democratizing AI, summarized well in the 2-page “Executive Summary for Policy Makers,” are real strengths of this book. Overall, the last 3 chapters + the exec summary were the best parts of the book.

Hace un tiempo me tocó en #masacritica de @babelioenespanol “Filosofía política de la IA” así que cuando me asignaron este otro libro del autor, no me pudo ilusionar más.
La IA se abre paso en nuestro día a día de forma acelerada. Cada día nos presentan una nueva herramienta, hablan de nuevas posibilidades y está claro que ha venido a quedarse, la marcha atrás es impensable. Sin embargo, también vemos los riesgos que puede entrañar: se habla de su impacto en el empleo, en el conocimiento, y las regulaciones llegan a los debates parlamentarios, a lo mejor con retraso, pero llegan.
En este libro, como bien dice su título, el autor analiza su impacto en la democracia ateniéndose a los principios básicos de la misma definidos en la Revolución francesa de 1789: libertad, igualdad y fraternidad. Y, partiendo de que en la actualidad el poder de la IA y de los datos que genera no acatan estos tres aspectos por cuanto pertenecen a las grandes tecnológicas que son quienes ostentan el poder.
Finalmente el libro incluye una serie de principios para gobernantes, desde la necesidad de regular la IA hasta la importancia de educar a la población para evitar sesgos y manipulaciones; último aspecto que podemos constatar día a día en las redes sociales.
Un libro necesario y un debate, el de la Inteligencia Artificial, que deberíamos mantener porque, como todas las armas, esta no deja de tener doble filo.

Interesting book on a current topic. Issues are outlined rather clearly and the solutions in almost the same way. There's just something missing, or maybe I was fooled by the small size of the book. The discourse between abstract (democracy, communication) and more tangible ideas (AI can be used in x, y, and z) was, at times, a bit lacking.

A worthwhile endeavour that turned out to be repetitive and idealistic. He seemingly forgot about his Arendt-inspired totalitarian analysis until the last few pages of the book, in which he crams in Platonic calls for a Renaissance of the commons. While his ideas are good, his practical applications are under-researched.
