Fade Into You

Rate this book
Can keeping secrets destroy love? Or is it true what they love conquers all?

The last thing I needed was a wife… but that's precisely what I got when I showed up at my father's house to discuss the new girl in town. I walked in single, only to storm out a very married man.

Mackenzie Mercer can never be mine. Not when she belonged to my enemy. But for better or worse, we're in this together. We both have something at stake.

She needed protection. I needed answers. Our arrangement was only supposed to be temporary, but when I start mocking her—calling her "wife" at every chance I get, determined to hate her for a fate I've been forced to endure—the lines we drew start to fade into one, and what started out temporary starts to feel like forever.

Or at least it could be if our secrets don't destroy us first. I may have given her my last name for protection, but I never expected to become the victim in my own plot.

L.A. Ferro

13 books696 followers
L.A. Ferro has had a love for storytelling her entire life. For as long as she can remember she put herself to sleep plotting stories in her head. That thirst for a good tale led her to books where she became an avid reader.

The unapologetically dramatic characters, steamy scenes, and happily ever afters found inside the pages of romance novels irrevocably transformed her. The world of romance ran away with her heart, and she knew her passion for love would be her craft.

When she’s not trailing after one of her three crazy kids, she loves to construct messy ‘happily ever afters’ that take her readers on a journey full of angst, lust, and obsession with page-turning enchantment.

Chasing her literary dreams, she hopes to captivate her readers with the stories that have lived rent-free in her mind for years. As an avid reader, dominant alpha males and feisty heroines have always stolen her heart and she is optimistic her books will bring the same amount of heart and heat that inspired her.

Not fully explaining things can keep the reader’s interest at a high level, but after a point it becomes frustrating and wearing.
Also, neither the plethora of characters and the relationships between them nor the plot appealed to me, due to the execution with all that secretive ‘mysterious’ agenda.

Not sure how I feel about this story. I got bored waiting for some explanations or the story to actually go somewhere. So I skipped around and read different parts before skipping to the end to figure all out. Didn’t take long after that to finish it without having to stop hurling my kindle at the wall at how stupid the characters were being. There are a lot of secrets and I am fine with that, but I felt the bread crumbs to get to the climax were few and far between. In fact what we were given just kept confusing me. I like the characters for the most part, I just didn’t like the way the mystery unwrapped.

There is this feeling you get sometimes where, you are dropped in the middle of a brewing storm and everyone knows that you have been dropped in the middle besides you, well that's the feeling I had when i read this amazing book.

Conner and Mackenzie meet one night and let's say it was insta lust in such a raw sense. You are rooting for them from the get go. But oh no no it's not as simple as it sounds no ma'am, this book takes you on a journey that has you gasping and screaming and going awww all in a chapter.

LA Ferro has bought such suspense in this book that it made me not put it down at all. Yes I stayed up till 4 in the morning to finish this book and I do not regret it.
It's most definitely different from the usual books i read n it was such a pleasure to get out of my comfort zone and read it. As Joey says " woah, this is stop eating hot!" Well this is I can't stop reading hot. Truly is that just one more chapter and you go on and on and on.
I'm feeling blue cause i need more stories from this universe and all the secondary characters are so unique i want to know their stories as well.

LA I am waiting for your next, no pressure i will wait patiently for it!!!
Don't miss this read!!!

Can't put it down book

I am in aw of how freaking amazing this story was. I couldn't put it down and as the mystery slowly unfolds I was at the edge of my seat. It was so unexpected, but so well written. My heart was in my throat with this love story, and as the sexual tension grows and the banter continues back and forth, I rooted for Connor and Mackenzie.

L.A. does it again!!! Connor and Mackenzie had a wild ride! The emotional roller coaster was everything though and I loved it so much. I felt like I was on the outside looking in feeling all the emotions. The trauma that they felt you felt it to. The angst was high my gosh you were to the point where you were like just come on and do it already lol!!

I can't express how much I enjoyed and Loved The dynamic between Mackenzie and Connor. The pace , this is such a page turner.
What I loved the most is how their raw and real version of themselves was at the beginning when they had no idea who they were , what they were to each others. And it all made sense when it came to their initial chemistry and attraction, they were basically inevitable and meant to be . The $exual tension WAS THROUGH THE FU©KING ROOF. At some Point I wanted to lock them in a room and let them have their ways with each so I can finally breath easily , you have been warned , this man is on his knees for his " wife" all throughout the book. 🥵🥵🥵,

The suspenseful setting and anticipation of what's going to happen next added more allure and darkness to the "small town" vibe going. I was definitely kept on my toes and on the edge of my seat at parts. The way this whole bunch of people morphed into a big happy family is just so wholesome 🤧🤧🤧 the way Mackenzie is with Summer ❤️🥺
And I couldn't have asked for a better satisfying ending 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 well done Ferro. 👏🏽👏🏽

I can't recommend this enough. The writing is fantastic and the tropes are just the best. Here's what to expect 🖤

1⭐️ just because of josh and the ending, i hate connor so much. Have actually never met a bigger crybaby and whinier guy. Everything he said made me wanna puke, its like he had a pea for a brain because something was definitely up. And it was not his iq to say the least. He had a full on temper tantrum for the entirety of this book and finished it by leaving his wife in the end to chase after idiots instead of waiting for TWO LITERAL SECONDS to hear the truth abt Josh. Tfo

Mac was there so long, they literally LIVED together but couldn’t have one single conversation? Is he 31 or 3? please, an ant have better communication skills atp. Connor acted like such an entitled spoiled trust fund rich kid. I hated how he spoke to his parents, fair enough that they don’t get along, but have some respect. Like have some decorum at least. Mac could not stand up for herself for even a second. The whole thing about the necklace made me so mad too, what do you mean she cried a little and then forgave him. BOY IF YOU SONT MAKE HIM JUMP HEAD FIRST IN THAT STUPID LAKE AND FIND IT

This book made me so mad I don’t even know why I finished it. Pissing me off fr. Won’t ever trust any recs from TikTok ever again.

Bye and from now on I will be protecting my peace and leave a book alone after the first sign of red flag because I cannot deal with another Connor. And the fact that his name is Connor? Ick in itself.

One of the most convoluted and slow moving stories I've read in a while. There was too much going on, too many moving pieces in the "mystery/suspense" plot, too many characters. When everything falls into place the resolution doesn't even matter because I was already over the book. Connor was an asshole on multiple occasions and didn't grovel at all. He just said sorry but kept doing it. He called her a slut and then treated her like one. All the possessive, she's -my-wife moments were overshadowed by his overall lack of consideration for Mac. I know the writing style was supposed to add to the suspense aspect of the book but all it did was open up plot holes and get frustrating instead of interesting. I kept hoping it would get better but it didn't.

We all know how most arranged marriages end. With a HEA, amiright? A little predictable.

However, predictable is the last word I would use to describe Fade Into you. L.A. Ferro's story takes you on SUCH a roller coaster ride on the way to that HEA! You're not just getting romance with this novel.

Obviously, Connor and Mackenzie have SO much chemistry right from the start. There's so much more than just romance to this story though. Just when I thought I knew where Con and Mac's story was going, swerve!, a new twist was revealed.

L.A. Ferro's writing gives you twists and turns, sports, a little suspense, A LOT of heat, and the ultimate HEA. I especially loved the Easter eggs like past characters making an appearance (I loved Holden and Aria in Dig)!

Do yourself a favor and fade into this arranged marriage between the Callahans. ❤🥵🌶

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶️4

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. When Mackenzie and Connor meet by accident it’s INSTANT chemistry!!! Later when they unexpectedly meet again is it fate?! Conner is the hot, dreamboat that everyone knows and loves and is proud of where he’s from! Mackenzie is the mysterious, new girl in town. When forced to marry they must fight against their natural instincts to fall for one another!

True to L.A Ferro fashion you don’t know which characters you’re going to love and which ones you’re going to hate! Also it’s IMPOSSIBLE to guess the ending! This book had me on the end of my seat! I felt like a detective trying to solve the mystery at every turn! Let me tell you the spice! The Spice!! 🌶️🌶️ The spice is FrEQenT and TOP TIER!!! 🥵🥵🥵🥵 I will never think of teepees the same!! I LOVED EVERY WORD of this book! You need to read this book! Don’t miss out on this L.A Ferro Gold!

Every single book that L.A. Ferro writes consumes me in the best of ways from start to finish. Fade Into You is no exception!

Many romance books are predictable, but her stories always deliver suspense and plot twists you never see coming. Did I mention the banter and spice is also perfection? I was invested in Connor & Mackenzie’s relationship from Chapter One and found myself laughing, smiling, and trying to unravel their secrets throughout this whole book. The side characters are also top notch and I hope to see more of them in future books!

Holy crap. I can always count on L.A. to keep me on my toes. I loved all of the banter between Mackenzie and Connor. I laughed quite a few times. There were some twists I didn’t see coming. I absolutely DEVOURED it. This book definitely makes brings the spice. It’s enemies to lovers, small town, secret identities, single dad, and arranged marriage. Cameron is one of my favorite side characters from any of her books. I also love that characters from DIG making appearances. I loved the way connor always makes her feel good about herself.

I am always stunned by how well LA writes. I love how well she puts a story together and how entranced I always am.

Connor and MacKenzie did not disappoint. I loved how she had us on the edge of our seats with heart pounding angst and extremely hot chemistry.

I will always look forward to her next book. She has such a way with storytelling that you will always crave more.

I am obsessed! I love L.A.’s writing. Its smooth like butter. The story was amazing it kept me wanting more. Their first impression of each other at the bar was 🥵 once they were forced into the marriage their chemistry was still there but add some secrets and enter bad feelings. I absolutely loved that Mackenzie redid Summer’s room once she read her letter. I hope there is a book two coming!

Just finished Fade into you by the talented L.A Ferro. I love her books they way they suck you in and you feel every emotion the characters feel. And this book is no exception. I love the story of Mac and Connor. How their lives were tied together before they knew the truth. Definitely need this book in paperback to add to my collection of her books.

Miscommunication and Lies

Unfortunately this book wasn't for me. Others have loved and I am sure many more will. My review shows my personal opinions and should be taken lightly as we all enjoy different aspects and topics in our books. ❤️

If the main characters would have had one real conversation during the book, none of the unnecessary drama would have happened. Everyone was lying and keeping information from each other to the point of it being unbearably annoying.

The MC was rude, possessive in a juvenile way (not a fun sexy way), demeaning, and just not likeable in my opinion. The FMC would stand up for herself, or attempt to occasionally, but then feel guilty or be so overcome with lust she let the MCs behavior go. Why does the MC think he can call her a sl*t at night and then try and tell her boss she's his wife and she belongs to him the next day..... the book was emotional whiplash in a bad way. I wasn't able to connect with the characters and found myself skipping parts of MASSIVE internal dialog that were unnecessary.

Sadly I would not recommend this book. I will read other books by this author as I loved the premise of it, but this specific one wasn't for me.

DNF @ 53%.

The hero was terrible. He called the heroine a sl^t but then proceeds to get really possessive of her and want to sleep with her. Then there’s the fact that multiple times the heroine said she didn’t want to do anything & yet the hero convinces her too??!?

Also, there’s too many characters & apparently everyone has been with each other.

I tried but the book wasn’t giving. . .

Mackenzie and Connor make for one heck of a married couple, even if was arranged. Even if it was to protect them, even if they didn't know each other. Secrets can only be kept for so long, and their outing can destroy more than the arranged marriage. There's so many people involved in the secret, and not everyone has all the puzzle pieces. Mackenzie and Connor have a lot to overcome, but only if they are trusting enough to share the puzzle pieces that they do have. There is so much at stake, the marriage, a kid, family members, Mackenzie's safety, her moms health, and the missing brother. Can Mackenzie truly trust Connor, or is he part of the problem? Is her ex innocent like he claims, or is he part of the ring? When a family enters into a dark business to rescue the victims, you're not supposed to actually fall in love with one. You're supposed to protect them until it's safe to move them back to their normal lives, but Connor doesn't follow the rules. He has his own problems, and Mackenzie's presence irritates the heck out of him. His life is about to be turned upside down, and not by the people he thought. Can the arranged marriage actually solve the problems even when the secrets come out? When all the players and puzzle pieces are put together, will they walk away from each other?

Ferro is a master at taking dark subjects and flawlessly adding them into the story. You want to cry, laugh, and yell as you read Fade Into You. You want to know all the pieces, and you can't put it down until it's solved. But that's not the only element at play here. There's an arranged marriage that loves to blur the lines. Ferro takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that has you rooting for a couple that shouldn't make it out of the arrangement. I really hope we get another book in this world, because it was an amazing read from the first page until the last!!

4.5/5 stars!

This was my first read by L.A. and I wasmore than impressed! This book has some of my favorite tropes - arranged marriage and single dad for the win!!! I have to say that this is so not your typical MMC and FMC forced to be married story though. I devoured it!! So much mystery and the plot twists kept hitting all the way until the end. My jaw definitely dropped a couple of times 😂.

Mackenzie is an incredibly loyal, sassy heroine and Connor is the possessive, grumpy/jerk with a soft heart MMC that will have you swooning uncontrollably- I’ll never look at a teepee the same. No spoilers though! 😉😜 so I’ll let you draw your own conclusions on that! The two are thrown together in a way that will keep you on the edge of your seat, guessing the entire time. It’s a wild ride!

The cast of characters L.A. has created have me immediately wanting their stories! I look forward to begging for them 😂 ahemmm L.A.!!! I received this book as an advanced reader copy and would more than recommend you to add it to your TBR/preorder/download it right now. You can thank me later!

Mackenzie is in a new place after an incident, and to start her life over. She is working at fields and making friends. Mac is late for work and almost runs over a man. When he lifts his head it’s the same man she had a brief encounter with but he’s looking at her like he’s not all that happy to see her. They end up getting fake married so she’s protected and they really don’t like each other. The attraction between them is intense. There are a lot of secrets and the more time they’re together the harder the attraction is to fight. Can they shed the secrets and be together? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book. I love Mackenzie and Connor and their character development. Great supporting characters. This book has secrets, mystery, intrigue, and the spice is good. Excellent plot twist. Read your trigger warnings and go grab this book now L.A. Ferro has done it again

I’m not a huge marriage of convenience girl, but I did enjoy this one. I love that the author started it off with a bang. It got me sucked into the story and eager to know more about the characters.

Of course, I’m happy to read about characters from other books that I enjoyed. It really just makes my heart happy reading more about Holden and Aria. And we get a peak at Daddy Everett 😍😍

I love the hot and cold of the main characters. You could tell they wanted each other but kept denying it. It really let it build up. I love the tension and the angst in this book.

I didn’t love that Connor was so cold. In the first book he was the happy go lucky guy. But the more you learn about his past, the more it makes sense! The plot twists in this one was nuts!! It definitely took me by surprise!

I’m sad this series is over for me, I enjoyed these characters and will be thinking of them often!!!

Was I in the mood for a contemporary romance when I picked this up? Not really.. But if it is written by L.A. Ferro I have to pick it up immediately. Let me tell you within the first 2 minutes I was hooked and devouring it at an alarming rate. The only thing making me stop was that I didn’t want the book and knowing these characters and their story to end.
L.A. Ferro always have you caring for her characters and being invested in the outcome and how we get to that outcome. I loved Connor and Mackenzie’s story. An unexpected arranged marriage, single dad, secret identity romance, with a little bit of sports thrown in.. who wouldn’t love that. It also doesn’t hurt that though the marriage is arranged all Connor can think about is her and the world “mine”.. melt worthy!

Overall I really hope to get more stories from this world. I need to know what happens with the side character Cameron!!! This will be a read I come back to over and over again!

I am so lucky to have experienced Connor and Mackenzie's love story. This story had so many complex layers to it that I was on an emotional rollercoaster the entire time. Mackenzie was placed in an unfortunate situation and used by many people in her life so when she is set to marry Connor they are less than impressed with one another. Connor has a complex history and life & throwing a new wife in the midst of it wasn't in his plans. I loved seeing these characters develop as individuals and as a couple. I love Connors possessive side!! I'll never think of Ikea the same way again. This has
•secret/hidden identity
•hidden family
•single dad
•sports romance
•arranged marriage
•small town

Where do I begin? This book was everything I never knew I needed, and so much more! I absolutely loved it. I was absolutely blown away. Everything from this author shatters all my expectations. The depth of the plot and suspense had me shook!

This takes place in the same world as the book Dig. This is Conner and Mackenzie's story.

Mackenzie has chosen to go into hiding based on a letter she receives. She is forced into a marriage with a man she meets by chance, Conner. Neither of them will divulge their secrets, so they remain at a stalemate.

As time goes on, secrets begin to unravel, and love begins to bloom.

What they don't expect is that their entire world implodes when real identities are revealed.

* The suspense and spice are phenomenal*
This in an absolute must read!
