So this is an anthology of short stories that are all Halloween based and smutty. They also have a variety of well loved tropes from age gap, taboo, primal etc. Smut varies from story to story, but they’re all either HEA or HFN.

I wanted to love these. I was born from the era of Wattpad One Shots and was LIVING for it. But there were a few concerns;

The writing seemed fairly juvenile given that it is sexy shit we’re reading about. The first story especially had me debating DNFing. I can deal with big age gaps if the younger character is mature. Fully could’ve believed the FMC was 14. It was gross. But they’re all fairly basic in their writing, we aren’t talking literary awards anyway cause its erotica, but damn..

Typos throughout, sentences repeated, paragraphs repeated, words missing, it needs a thorough edit and possibly a rewrite of specific portions cause it was jarring as hell.

And the final issue, which is thankfully more of a personal issue than a wider one; none of the stories were OMG SO INTERESTING I HAVE TO READ ON. They seemed fairly basic, redundant plots that didn’t have anything key about them to make me want to read on. I finished it cause I wanted to give it a fair shot.

The idea of spicy Halloween short stories definitely sounded promising for me but unfortunately this one just didn't work.

I read the entirety of the first story but struggled with the writing and the pace of the story. I feel like short stories can be really difficult to execute well in general but I think romance ones are even harder to get right. This one just felt quite cringe at times and very unrealistic.

I decided to give the second short story a go before deciding to give up on it. It felt like the author just duplicated the same smut but put a slightly different story on it. It was at this point that I just couldn't go on so I had to DNF it at 25%.

Unfortunately I can't say I recommend this one. I think the length of these stories just didn't work for stories that the author wanted to tell.

Dnf at 54% I skimmed through the last short story and didn’t really have any interest in it. I don’t usually rate my DNFs but this time I did the average of the 3 stories I did read since I was over halfway through.

The 1st was a 2.25, 2nd was a 4, and the 3rd was a 3.25 averaging out to 3 stars.
