Karrie is doomed to be ghosted by every guy she dates. They go out, have a good time, and then he disappears without so much as a text.
Her best friend, Zoe, should have been an investigative journalist. When Karrie finds a new date, Zoe digs up the dirt. To spare her friend the heartache, she handles things herself.
Karrie thinks she's cursed. Zoe knows she deserves better. And any guy who thinks he can dick around with Karrie finds out just how far Zoe will go to protect her friend.

So I loved it. I'm obsessed with Zoe, but Karrie is also amazing. There's so much love put into these characters, and you can feel it coming off of the pages. I liked all of them, including Zack who is a side character. Honestly, everyone needs a friendship like Zoe and Karrie. They both have so much personality, and one doesn't overpower the other. The banter the two is great. They're both funny and polar opposites of eachother, but it works. I personally wouldn't say this is a gory book even though it's about 🔪🩸. It's got a little bit of stuff but nothing graphic. It almost reminds me of a rom-com ish, but obviously not romantic. What did throw me off at first is the chapters do not have names stating the POV, instead it's a little picture. It's a super cute idea but really threw me off at first. There are some errors in there, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of it. I truly couldn't even tell you where they were if you asked me. I'm not left with questions or any kind of confusion. These authors quite literally spell it all out for you. They clearly work brilliantly together. It's a great book for a palate cleanser or if you want something on the lighter side, but has some 🔪🩸 in it.
I loved this book. It starts with a bang and throws you straight into some of the action. At first I was uncertain about it as it wasn’t hard to figure out some of the plot and I thought I was about to be disappointed but then there was a whole plot twist that I did not anticipate at all.
I liked the characters and I loved that the focus for this book was friendship rather than romance. The depth of friendship was great to read as well as the utter forgiveness and acceptance that comes from caring about your friends deeply.
The dialogue was funny and full of banter.
I think Zoe might be my favourite character - she’s just so cool and calm.
This was fantastic!!! So witty and funny, I buddy read it with a friend of mine and we were just laughing the whole way through. The premise is great and it's so well written, I ended up loving Zoe and Karrie so much, and even TCT! If you like dark romcoms like Butcher and Blackbird or Lights Out but without the spice, this is for you! It's just besties loving besties and I adored it.
"In case I got caught or something. I didn't want to take you down with me." "That is the sweetest, most twisted thing anyone has ever said to me." "Love you." "Love you back."
When your best friend is a serial killer. But she only kills the really horrible men you dated. That's true love, right? This book, as twisted (and at times, absolutely f*cked up!) was actually quite humorous as we go on this adventure with these two friends through their, what they call, the Scooby Doo adventure to find out more about what is going on in their world.
Regardless of anything else, this book was definitely worth the read and I am absolutely looking forward to book 2 (especially after reading the blurb for the second book at the end of this one!!)
I received an advanced copy of this book. This review is my own opinion.
'Love is Murder' is a peculiar sort of story… it's a murder mystery, suspense, and romance with a dual point of view – and it is astounding!
Karrie has a terrible dating track record… only it gets worse.. the men she's dated start ending up dead!!! Zoe, her best friend, starts digging and they find more skeletons than they were prepared for!!! In a way, I envy Zoe and Karrie's relationship, as they are devoted to each other. I love the characters and I'm excited to see where this goes in future books. I love the jokes throughout the story, as it really lightened it up a bit. I enjoyed this book immensely!
This was such a cute, fun read! Part feminine rage, part rom-com, part mürder mystery. Dexter inspired FMC vigilante of sorts, and a lot of humor sprinkled in. Zoe and Karrie are the besties you wanna be a part of! Great palette cleanser.
The premise of this story really excited me and the opening delivered the comedy, surprise, and a colorful Zoe. What I enjoyed most about this story was Zoe and Karrie's tight-knit friendship. It's more about female friendship than romance, with Karrie's dozens of cursed dates being the backdrop against which their friendship is cast.
Zoe's POV was my favorite, though early on I struggled to know which of the two povs I was in. Eventually, the chapter header artwork began to make sense.
While Zack is a side character love interest, he's decently colorful and interesting--and of course, handsome. He pairs just as well against Zoe as he does with Karrie in creating suspense and humor. For me, Zoe wins most-interesting character. She's funny, quirky, witty, and murderously fun.
Zoe and Karrie are polar opposites in their styles and appearance and personalities, adding to the dry, subtle humor each murder creates. The ending brought a nice and unexpected twist that really had me holding my breath and smirking at the same time. The story isn't even close to horror, so you can't take the murders too seriously. NOTHING is handled too seriously, yet the comedy struck me as fairly low-key.
I didn't get the LOL moments I was craving, and docked one star for a bit of an ambling middle. I can't quite put my finger on why it didn't resonate, but the humor at best, pulled a few side smiles.
Zoe, Karrie, and Zack work to solve the mystery of Karrie's murdered boyfriends, while we, the readers know who murdered half of them. But the other half... everyone on page and we desire to know.
I entered the book expecting humor closer to "Arsenic and Old Lace."
This book contains a good bit of crude language, which I knew about before diving in. Spice rating: 0 Female friendship rating: 100%
Karrie thinks she’s doomed to be ghosted by every guy she ever dates. They go out, have a good time, and then he disappears without so much as a text. Her best friend Zoe should have been an investigative journalist. Because Karrie’s track record is a litany of douchebag disasters, whenever she has a date, Zoe goes digging. When she uncovers some nasty truths about Karrie’s love interests, she’d rather spare her friend the heartache and handles things herself. Karrie thinks she’s cursed. Zoe knows she deserves better. And any guy who thinks he can dick around with Karrie finds out just how far Zoe will go to protect her friend.

This book was sooo good! First of all I am a huge sucker for dual POV. The switching back and forth between Zoe and Karrie was so smooth. This book was so beautifully written AND THERES A PART TWO IN THE WORKS?!?
I loved these two characters. I loved that their styles were complete opposites and their personalities were so different. Zoe being about as dry as they come (not in a boring way) and Karrie being super chipper and animated. Even with that, their friendship was beautiful. They balanced each other out well.
I loved the vibes from this book and would definitely recommend it. The ending had me on the edge of my seat and I started speed reading to see what happened next. I love me a good page turner!
This was very different from what I normally read and it was a lot of fun!
Love is Murder is about Karrie and Zoe, childhood best friends who live and practically do everything together. Karrie is a serial dater and can never seem to find the right guy while Zoe is a clean freak home body who murders the suitors of Karrie’s that end up being legit terrible people. Because of this, Karrie thinks she’s cursed and now a cold case private detective has sniffed out the connection between Karrie and her trail of dead or missing exes and is determined to find the killer. But his biggest suspect is Karrie so she and Zoe decide to work with “True Crime Tom” uncover the truth to clear Karrie’s name while Zoe works to make sure her name stays off Tom’s suspect list too.
This book was witty and funny. It was not the type of writing you would expect from a murder mystery/thriller. Zoe is a straight up serial killer but I couldnt help but like her 😂
The story still gave you all the mystery/thriller elements you would expect but with much more humor than is likely expected. This is actually what made a read like this much more palatable for a reader like me!
Quick read, great pallate cleanser between heavier reads, and an overall good time
This was great, i enjoyed the writing and the banter and actually laughed out loud a few times. I loved the two friends being a contrast of each other but it didn't feel painfully stereotypical. Zoe was calm and collected but we still got her inner voice telling her to calm down and her worries, which i much appreciated vs purely cold and calculated. I did have a little trouble with the chapters, know who's POV it was, but it did fall into a pattern.
Reading this unfold was fun, i was hooked and needed to find out what was going to happen asap. Great story of friendship and a way we wish we could protect our friends from scummy people every day.
"You know I love you, right?" I mutter into the locks of blonde hair hiding her ear. "Mürder and all?" she whispers. There’s a rare vulnerability in her voice that nearly breaks my heart. "Mūrder and all."
If you need a book to read on a cool night, this is it. It was a quick read for me in the best way.
This wasn't my typical read, but I loved it. I usually read some form of romance and although there was a small aspect of romance, the book was more geared toward the love between inseparable friends.
I loved the friendship that Zoe and Karrie shared, they were complete opposites, but nothing could tear them apart, let's just say Zoe would go to extreme measures to keep her friend safe.
Of course going into it, you think you have the book figured out, especially after the opening scene, but I really wasn't prepared for the twist ! I also found that this twist gave the book an added story line that keeps the reader engaged, which is probably why I devoured this book in no time !
I also really enjoyed the chapter heading art, I've been seeing more of it lately and I really like the idea of the art showcasing which POV the chapter is in.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read more! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick comedic crime-ish read, with an inseparable/complete opposites duo, and lots of witty banter !
*** Please note, although I received this ARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own ! ***
The idea of this book was EXTREMELY fun. Although there was some bumps in the road regarding plot, I THROUGHLY enjoyed it.
I loved the friendship between Karrie and Zoe. The bond between the two of them is so similar to my me and my best friend that I just felt right at home. The idea that my bestie would murder my horrible dates is HILARIOUS and I almost wish it were true.
This book was fun and different and kept me entertained the ENTIRE time and I can't what adventures await in book two!
🔪 Review 🔪 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was fun! I loved the friendship between Zoe and Karrie. They’re polar opposites in so many ways but compliment each other all at the same time. The twists, the banter, the surprises… all so amazing! Everyone needs a friend like Zoe 😂. Some twists I predicted but there were a couple that I definitely didn’t see coming! Super fun, quick read that fits right in with spooky season! Thank you to Tracey Barski, Ch Lyn and Bound by Mischief for allowing me to be an arc reader for Love is Murder!
I did love this book. The premise of it is fantastic. My favorite was Zoe. Couldn't get enough of her and her quirks. The fact that she is an absolute lean freak but does what she does is a hilarious oxymoron. Karrie and Zoe's relationship gives me Wednesday and Enid.
I completely missed the mark on who the bad guy was and that is a first for me. I was so sure. Read if you love a girls-girl best friend relationship, murder, mystery, and a love interest.
This book was such a fun ride. I really enjoyed that it was written by two authors because it meant that the writing styles were different enough in each POV that I didn’t even have to think about who was talking.
This story contains the friendship I think we all hope to have. No judgement and unconditional love. Also, I appreciated the amount of lines that had me laughing.
LOVED THIS BOOK SOOO MUCH, I THOUGHT IT WAS SOOO CUTE!!! A story about friendship and relationships in one and it was done perfectly:). Only got this book because the authors were at my local barns and noble and I couldn’t be happier I picked it up‼️‼️ the mystery was fascinating and had me turning pages for hours!!!!!!Thank you Tracey
Loved it! I can’t wait to read the next one. This was my first book by Barski. I recently got a chance to meet her at the Fantasy Forge Book Con. All of her books sounded wonderful so I bought one of each. This was the first book I selected to read and I am so happy I have so many of her other books to read. Now I have to figure out if book two is out and, if so, if I bought that one at the con 😂
Maybe close to 5 stars. Fun but also realistic storytelling about friendship, love and d bag men. With murder and menace, to boot! I met one of the authors at an arts and crafts fair in December and was intrigued enough to buy the book. I'm looking forward to the next book when it comes out!
Just finished this fun murdery/mystery book! Loved it, caught myself chuckling out loud! Lots of great, smart, funny banter btwn characters as they navigate a murder mystery while one of them happens to also be a murderer! Lol! High recommend!
This books is a blast to read! The main characters are beautifully written, the banter hilarious, and I had so much fun reading this book. I couldn’t put it down and finished reading in one sitting.
Karrie enjoys the company of men. Her roommate, Zoe, is a germophobe and doesn't like being in public.
After a few dates, the men start ghosting Karrie. The police interview her after the disappearance of her latest guy, Derek.
She meets a guy named Zack who asks her about the disappearance of Derek and other men she has dated. This is when Karrie realizes the men haven't just ghosted her but they have all been killed.
One night working with Zack to investigate the disappearances, Karrie finds a picture of the killer. It's Zoe. She admits to the killing of the men who had colored past but not the good guys Karrie has dated. There is a second killer and they set out to figure out who it is and to pin all the murders on them.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author/pr group. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
If your best friend isn’t willing to go a little unhinged for you… is she even your best friend? 👀
This book was wild in the best way.
Karrie has the worst taste in men. But instead of just venting and moving on, her best friend Zoe takes “ride or die” to a new level …. Seriously I love Zoe and Karrie’s ‘s friendship and just how different they are.
When a podcast host starts digging into a string of missing men, things spiral fast. Secrets unravel, loyalties get tested.
