Definitely a book I could easily pass by, ("oh great another personal development pamphlet filled to the top with cheese") However, the contents inside hold more depth than the title lets on. Simple easy to understand, and yet profoundly applicable, if you're like me and need constant reminders that frequently the very simplest of things often have the most powerful impact on ourselves and those around us. It's a guide that emphasizes the power of positive reinforcement and how genuine encouragement can propel individuals to achieve more.

this book offers practical advice on how to use encouragement effectively. Overall, while the title may sound cheesy, the contents offer valid and actionable insights for those looking to inspire and motivate.
We’ve all seen books that are nice to read but not applicable. That’s not this book. This book is half anecdotes and half workbook. Instead of being full of vague ideas, it gives you specific actionable ways to make a difference in people’s lives around you, while showing how it made a difference in the author’s life. Could not recommend more.
Wow! This is a needed book. I heard Jordan speak at an event and started listening to the audio of The Art of Encouragement right away. It was well worth it.
In this book, Jordan talks about the important role that encouragement has played in his life, especially during difficult times. He also shares stories as an encourager and gives practical applications of how you can become one, too.
This is something I should know, but need constant reminding. Like most entrepreneurs, I can fall in the trap of always looking ahead and measuring progress by what has not yet been achieved rather than how far I've come. But encouragement can be so powerful, because, as John C. Maxwell says in the foreword, "Do you know how I know if someone needs to be encouraged? If they're breathing."
I think the same goes for encouragers. How do you know if you need to read this book? If you're breathing. I don't know anyone who couldn't be better at encouraging.
I have started picking out my ten people to encourage, as Jordan suggests readers do, and have ordered the physical copy so that I can take the action steps he lists at the end of each chapter. Because I want to be better at the Art of Encouragement.
A non-fiction book about being a servant leader and encourage people in different ways. It is a quick read. It has some nice suggestions for putting the topics of each chapter into action and following through with them. He doesn't offer much new by way of leadership but he presents it in a spiritual format as a Christian way to live life as a leader as how Jesus lived. Jordan Montgomery is a motivational speaker. It is a bit odd to start a book about leadership by telling us that the author is a liar and cheat, it lowers his credibility from the start. He uses the story of being fired for cheating as how he rebuilt his life after being fired and the people who helped him and taught him. He name drops that he knows all the big name leadership speakers, teachers, authors whose books we read and whose nuggets he passes along with his spiritual framework.
This one honestly surprised me. I came into it with fairly low expectations (I don't know why) and it started pretty slow for me. After the first chapter, I was hooked and interested in where he was going. With each chapter, there's a concluding "assignment". Since I was driving for most of the book (listened to the audiobook), it wasn't prudent for me to actively participate in the exercises. but I did think about them and found them to be helpful. I would definitely recommend for any Christian (in particular) who is interested in motivating themselves and others into interpersonal relationships and changing expectations through encouragement.
This book was good, I finished it in a few days. Jordan talks about life experiences and how encouragement picked him back up. He talks about practical easy to follow encouragement approaches. The different ways to encourage others, improving day to day life. It’s not what you say but how you say it. I will admit, since reading this book, I have applied some of the ways to encourage others form this book, and it’s made a positive impact. I’ve encouraged others in the past, but this just makes me feel real good about it. Great message and highly recommended.
Encouragement means a lot to me just like I know it does for others. That’s probably why I finished the book in less than a week. Be authentic, be honest, be vulnerable with others in the encouragement you give them is mainly what I took from the book. Excellent book. I absolutely loved it and will be applying what I’ve learned asap. Quick and easy read. Loved it.
He provides great, practical ways to implement the art of encouragement in our interactions with the people around us. His own stories help bolster the message that encouraging others matters. I now want to be better at looking for ways to encourage those around me.
