This is a MMF monster romance with two gargoyle heroes, Klaus and Emmerich, and a human heroine, Morgan. It takes place in the same world as Stranded with the Kraken.
I read book one in two hours and then needed book two immediately. After such a “long” “wink wink” wait my answers have been met. I think the little amount of time was definitely worth it. In the first book we got a Mother Flipping Kraken.
Then in this lovely installment we got not one but hear me out two gorgeous gargoyles who love on their girl during the dead of winter. As a big fan of all things gothic this made me squeal at-least a few times during this read.
Our FMC Morgan is funny ,curious and brave which is quite refreshing to see in a romance. Honestly, I knew here that this was going to be hilarious!!
“The demon cocks its horned head to the side, shadows hiding its face. “What?” I clear my throat. “If you’re here to take me to Hell, I would like to ask you to reconsider. As you can see, I’m not dead yet, and, uh, I have someplace else to be.”
See how funny that was ?? I know you’ll love the rest when you give this a spin !!
Side-note this is a stand-alone so you do not have to read the previous first to enjoy this lovely read !!
Who wouldn’t want to get rescued from a snowstorm by a sexy gargoyle? Morgan, Emmerich, and Klaus had their Instalove romance while snowed in together. I loved that Morgan loved bats so much and that that was what led her to trek to an abandoned building. Emmerich was all golden retriever sweetheart vibes and Klaus was the grumpy to his sunshine. I would have loved more getting to know each other on page, but it was still a cute cozy story.
Spice: 5/5
Triggers: risk of hypothermia, sprained ankle, mentions of ex cheating, discussion of depression
This book was a perfect representation for why I don’t like MMF. Two gargoyle males who have a beautiful relationship find their third mate years after they’ve been together for awhile. It didn’t work and I thought the FMC was an afterthought and could have been benched. I think this would have been better as a MFM.
This is just my personal opinion and preference so take this as it is.
This is a fast paced, insta-love story following the human FMC Morgan, who is caught out in a snowstorm and meets her gargoyle fated mates, the grumpy Klaus and golden retriever Emmerich.
I loved the dynamic between the two MCs and how they were so different, yet as a trio everyone just fit together so well. It's always interesting reading how a new partner joins an existing relationship.
Low angst and alot of feels, this is an excellent holiday read.
When it comes to Monsters, gargoyles are right up the top for me. Growing up I was obsessed with the TV series Gargoyles and Goliath. The little nod to the Sea Dragons was a great touch!
I was lucky to receive a ARC of this story, and my opinions of this book are my own. Thankyou Zoe.
This book is so fun. Fast, sexy, and did I mention GARGOYLES?! Plural?
I devoured this MMF monster/human romance in two sittings.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick, spicy read, this is the book for you.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗯: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱… I only wanted to see if there was any truth to our small town’s scary stories—to satisfy my curiosity and forget all about my miserable lack of Christmas plans, all in one swoop.
What I didn’t plan on is the dangerous snowstorm or my bad luck, nor freezing half to death in the middle of the forest because I twisted my ankle.
When a demonic-looking, winged monster lands right in front of me, I realize it might not be cold that kills me, after all.
But the massive gargoyle—not a demon, Morgan—offers help and takes me to his tower. Only he calls it a roost, one he shares with his equally large, handsome mate.
Now they’re saying I’m the third roost mate they’ve been searching for. They want to court me, nest with me, and keep me forever.
But they’re monsters, mythical creatures I didn’t even know existed. How on earth is this going to work?
"We've been waiting a long time for a mate, Morgan. And every single day of the wait was worth it --for you."
Zoe is so talented at writing swoony monster males. Not only do we get one cinnamon roll gargoyle mmc but TWO! They have different personalities that perfectly compliment each other. But they're both equally protective and in love with Morgan.
I really enjoyed the goofy scenes of them trying to learn about humans and how to take care of her. And the spice? IT WAS SPICIN. They might not know what humans eat or that our skin is supposed to wrinkle up after being in water but oh boy do they know how to work the equipment.
The novel combines fated mates, paranormal adventure, and spicy romance - perfect for the holidays! If you’re looking for a book that’s both heartwarming and steamy, this is it. It’s the ultimate escape for readers who want something light and entertaining. I love the balance between plot and spice all Ashwood's books, and this one is no exception. While “Snowed In with the Gargoyles” is undeniably a steamy read, it also has a coherent storyline that holds its own. The characters are surprisingly well-fleshed out for a short holiday romance. The two male gargoyles are the ultimate cinnamon rolls—strong, masculine, yet gentle and caring. I adored the female lead, Morgan, as well. A conservation biologist, she’s independent and strong while still embracing her feminine side. Their chemistry, both emotional and physical, felt genuine and left me rooting for their happy ending.
phewww where do i even begin with this review?? we already know i’m a certified Sloot for gargoyles and these two did not disappoint. klaus and emmerich are everything i’ve dreamt of and more. they are possessive and sweet and oh so kind. they are perfect for each other and their human mate, morgan. she is so nerdy and lovely and adorable. the three of them together gives me bisexual panic. what a perfect, stunning, spicy, sweet gargoyle story.
This was a fast-paced holiday romance and I loved seeing how Morgan would fit in with gargoyle pair, Emmerich and Klaus. It's told in multiple POVs, which I love, and it's pretty much an insta-love romance for these fated mates. Expect to be entertained and engaged as these three work their way to a wonderful and steamy HEA :D
Klaus and Emmerich are so cute and so emotionally constipated that I want to squeeze them!!! I love the cultural differences between humans and gargoyles. It was super cute and the perfect amount of spice.
I know the relationship is MMF, but I would have loved a MMF spicy scene!!!
This is the second book in the Clearwater Monsters series. It can be read as a standalone or even out of order with the first book, Stranded With the Kraken. There are references to characters and events in both books, but nothing too major that would take you out of the story.
I absolutely loved Stranded With the Kraken, which managed to develop the characters so well in such a short book. When I saw that the second book in the series was finally getting released AND that it was an MMF romance, I was so excited!
This novella definitely did not disappoint. Just like many of Zoe Ashwood other books, it is such a perfect combination of sweetness and spice. There are times where it feels a little rushed and things happen more quickly or kind of come up out of left field. Part of that is because of the whole fated mates thing, but also partly because it is a short and condensed novella, so can’t really expect a slow burn or gradual development.
I thought the 2 main male characters (the gargoyles) really complemented each other, but I would have liked to see more romance and/or spice between the 2 of them beyond what was actually shown. When it came to the spicy scenes, it was really MFM rather than MMF, which I was a tiny bit let down by. But the spice was still excellent!
I would give this 3 stars. I liked the first one more, but I can still see this one being added to my list of comfort rereads.
I received an ARC from the author via BookFunnel in exchange for an honest review.
This book is about a human woman named Morgan and Klaus and Emmerich who are both male gargoyles.
The book starts with Morgan being hurt in the woods when she was trying to investigate a place everyone thinks could be haunted by a winged creature. I think really also she was looking for Something to change in her life as well when she set out on this adventure but she underestimated the whether situation.
Klaus was out flying and saw this tiny human woman struggling in the snow and as he gets closer she think he is a devil come to take her away and as he rescuer she finds out he is a gargoyle and he realizes very fast he has just found the third to his mating roost. Klaus takes her back to his place and she meets Emmerich and he kinda freaks out. Both of the males can sense and smell that she is their missing mate and they are very emotional about it. Morgan feels some strange stuff too but she doesn’t know what she is feeling.
The sexual tension between the three of them is off the charts and she makes them slow down some although she is very curious for this experience. The have some fun times, the males have never seen a humans private parts or anything just like she had never been with gargoyles. Their first sexual encounter is pretty hot.. just curious experimenting and it’s fun to read and watch all of them follow their basic conclusions and finding what pleases them all. After this point it went way down hill for me. I like a good monster book and i don’t mind a good bit of smut but there has to be a balance and after this spot it was 90% smut and the plot was no more. If i just wanted porn i could type free porn into a search engine of my choice and watch any manor of porn at will but i like the character development and i like the plot and this one fell away then at the end we got a bit Of the character again. Started off so strong then like a teenage boy got overly excited and shot their whole load and we all went home highly unsatisfied. I do plan to read the last book in the series because the first book was so good and i am hoping it will not be as unsatisfying as this one was.
⭐️⭐️= unsatisfying nose dive into just porn. 🔈= listening with speechify app. ®️= rented it with kindle unlimited. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️= plenty of sex ⚠️= monster sex
Off to the last 📖 book in the series.

I did not expect to spend my birthday reading about two winged, stone-hard gargoyles tenderly worshiping a human woman—but surprise! This turned out to be the coziest, smuttiest, most unexpectedly romantic birthday treat I could’ve asked for. Bless Zoe Ashwood for knowing exactly what I didn’t know I needed.
This book reads like a cozy monster smut romance book. Yes, it’s about a woman stuck in a snowstorm who gets rescued by two ancient protectors with wings and claws and very large… equipment—but somehow it’s also soft, warm, and endearing as hell. Emmerich and Klaus are clueless about human customs (tickling confuses them, Christmas sends them into a full-blown emotional spiral), but their gentleness, jealousy, and eagerness to please? Total panty-melting perfection.
The pacing is slow-burn in all the best ways. We don’t get insta-penetration on page five—Zoe drags the actual first time, letting the chemistry simmer with every kiss, growl, and erotic wing twitch. But when we finally get there? Fire. Absolute fire.
Was I a little annoyed when we were finally about to get the goods and the boys decided to get overly emotional about Christmas? Yes. Yes I was. I did not show up for ornaments and wonder—I showed up for wings, fangs, and some long-awaited monster D. But I forgave them because they’re precious and hot and clearly trying their best not to break the human they just claimed as their mate.
Also, thanks to this book, I’m now going to be eyeing every old building and rooftop statue with deep suspicion and deeply inappropriate curiosity. Just saying.
If you want a no-angst, emotionally safe, sexy-as-hell monster romance that’ll make you feel warm, fuzzy, and just the right amount of feral? This is it.
🗿 Two gargoyles. ❄️ One snowstorm. 💦 A very lucky birthday girl. And maybe a little Christmas spirit… eventually.
To be honest upfront, books that fall outside two people in a relationship are not my usual reading material. That said, I am such a fan of Zoe's writing that I was willing to give this one a go. And I am glad I did.
The positives:
Zoe has a real skill with writing MMCs who are both dominant and 'masculine', while also being emotional and gentle. Her MMCs are always swoon-worthy and easy to love.
Her FMCs are strong yet feminine and usually also fiercely independant.
Her lore is always so facinating and I always find myself wanting to know more about the world she has written.
Her books are usually an excellent balance of storytelling mixed with the sexy times......and the sexy times are sexy.
The negatives:
This is more a me thing but I am not the biggest fan of insta-love. It is just something I struggle with. I am also not a fan of the breeding kink. But those are me things and if those are your tropes of choice then this book will definitely be up your alley.
I personally didn't find this FMC as strong and independant as previous characters she has written, but she was still extremely likeable.
A few spots felt a little 'whiplash-ish' with one character feeling all the things, only to have anoither character then feel all those same things. Thankfully this is only one small part and doesn't take anything away from the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed this, way more than I thought I might. Zoe's writing is excellent and she somehow manages to suck me in within the first few pages every time. Her rhythm and tone is definitely on another level.
3,5 stars for me I liked the story and the characters. Morgan was a researcher that had to leave her dream job behind when her fiance cheated on her. Now, months after the breakup she was working in a boring job, and the only thing that made her enthusiastic was an investigation of the old ruined tower in the woods. She heard stories about ghost or paranormal creatures haunting the ruin, and she planned to see for herself what truly lived there. She was hoping for some big bats, maybe a kind that was not documented before, so she could write a paper about them, but instead she found herself her two fated mates. Klaus was a grump with a good heart, when he saw someone stumbling and limping in the woods he had to help. Finding his last mate was a surprise and a little bit of shock, he didn't expect her to be human. With how big and carnal gargoyles were he was a bit scared of hurting Morgan, but he couldn't let her go even if he tried ;) Emmerich was an enthusiastic and sweet gargoyle, he fell in love with Morgan at the first sniff and was like an oversized eager puppy doing everything to make her happy. He was such a cutie that I didn't expect him to be so kinky, and it saddened me greatly that we didn't get any sexy bondage between the trio. It's rare for me to want more MM in my menage/poly books, but they fit well together and Morgan clearly liked seeing them kissing and touching, so it seemed like there should be more action between the guys to get Morgan hot and bothered about, but there wasn't :(
This is the second book of this PNR series. I loved book 1 so much I didn’t even stop to review before grabbing and reading book 2.
I’m still going to grab more by this author but this book was a bit disappointing compared to book 1. The hot spiciness from book 1 was completely missing. The MC’s talk about having sex in the future, once they get to know each other more, but it doesn’t happen till near the end of the book. Also… 2 MAJOR MISSED OPPORTUNITIES BY THE AUTHOR:
1. There minimal menage scenes, considering they realized she basically always needs to have sex with them together, there’s really only 1 scene of her with both, otherwise it’s one guy then following after is the other (taking turns).
2. WTH is up with the guys being super close soulmate/partners and we never see them together AT ALL- NOT ONCE- NOTHING MORE THAN A KISS!!!! 😔😔 It’s like they were gay (literally never being with a woman before) and now they found a woman and completely forgot about and ignore each other? We didn’t feel any sparks between these two who could have just been ‘friends only’ from what we see of them in this book. I don’t know if author writes other MM but I HATE when authors shy away from exploring that dynamic once the female character is introduced. It’s like a strict MF writer wants to add spice but doesn’t want to write MM scenes or something. I don’t get it but it’s just a huge disappointment.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and I was very excited to be given the opportunity to read this book before it came out.
If I’m being honest I wasn’t sure at first if this would be my cup of tea. I really enjoy what I’ve read of the black bear clan series, but the first few chapters of this book seemed faster in pacing and more modern in setting. As soon as I got to the chapters that changed perspective I was won over. Zoe is amazing at writing from the perspective of both her male and female characters and I thought it brought great depth to the story to be able to hear our new gargoyle lover boys perspectives.
Morgan is interesting and well thought out as a character. She’s resistant to her situation at first but her background as a scientist and her need to reclaim herself and her life is a very relatable driving force for her character.
Klaus and Emmerich have fantastic chemistry together and they seem like a real couple with deep love and wants from the moment their dynamic is introduced. I like that Morgan didn’t intrude on their love but rather added to their family.
This was a fast read I was able to finish in just a few hours, and left me wanting more stories from the world of Clearwater. Another fantastic read from Zoe Ashwood.
I definitely enjoyed book 2 in this series more than book 1, it allowed for growth from the characters and more character developments and I laughed a ton in this one, and I appreciated the nerdiness from the FMC haha about bats and getting to know the gargoyles and their similarities.
I think the narrators did a better job in this one than book 1, so I could easily give this 4 stars. I had a little bit of whiplash when it came to some of the feelings from one of our stone guys, and some of the story was a little clunky but overall I enjoyed how different this one was than what I had read/listened to before. I do wish we got more from their MM relationship but I can understand the author was not trying to expand this one too much, they are more novellas than full blown stories. I did like they were German and I thought the little touches from the narrators were good. If they had a harsh accent I was worried I wouldn't be able to understand them. I thought they did a good job with the quips and cute "human" moments and being confused by their customs haha. Thought the sexy times was fun too.
Do we get to see the 2 friends meet up and talk about their mates and how things happened? I haven't read book 3, I will wait to see when it comes to audiobook because I want to see their girls night catch up hahaha.
4.25 stars. Morgan, the female conservation biologist lead, is scoping out a “haunted” tower, hoping to find a new species to investigate, since her work is boring and restricted. Caught in the snow, she sprains her ankle and is fearful of freezing until Klaus, one male gargoyle lead, drops down to introduce himself and save her.
Klaus knows she’s their third mate when he scents her, so he flies her back to the tower he shares with Emmerich, the second male gargoyle lead. Now they just have to convince Morgan they’re not scary and that she wants to stay with them as their much loved mate.
This story is tri POV, well written and edited, and a steamy, contemporary fantasy romance. I enjoyed and was amused by Morgan’s returning focus to her research. I enjoyed her curiosity over the gargoyles and her desire to learn about them. I enjoyed Klaus and Emmerich’s willingness to let Morgan explore. I enjoyed Klaus’ initial restraint due to concern over damaging Morgan, contrasted with the way he let go when he was reassured about her “sturdiness”. I enjoyed Emmerich’s sweet nature and his enthusiasm. I enjoyed the erotic intimate scenes and the relationship development. I enjoyed the joyful enthusiastic ending.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
This was so sweet! And I felt all the lovey cozy vibes. ❤️🤭
Zoe Ashwood is definitely my favorite author, and I will continue to read her books. This is just a book lower on my list of favorites.
I loved how Morgan was so brave and curious which was so refreshing. And I definitely laughed a few times, she can be quite funny. 😂
Emmerich and Klaus were pretty adorable with the way they acted. They’re mated to each other, and clearly love each other. Although sadly we don’t see any MM action on page.
The only other thing I didn’t like is how gentle they were with Morgan. Don’t get me wrong, I liked how they cared for her and looked after her, and loved her. But when it finally came time for penetration sex I just wanted them to rut like crazy and that didn’t happen.
But it does happen in the epilogue so hey, can’t complain. 🤷♀️
I think I’ll come back and revisit this when the audiobook (if there is one) releases. I think the audiobook will be much better.
TW: Cheating (Not by MMC’s or FMC), Breeding, & Growling (a LOT of growling 😏).
I !I've Zoe Ashwood books this one was a cozy holiday read that made me wish for a Gargoyle or two of my own. Morgan just got out of a deal relationship, is Christmas and she didn't want to go home and her best friend is out on a date. So what sides she decide to do? Why of course go out in the late afternoon, in the middle of a snow storm to investigate a sighting of a winged creature at a tower. What does she find or should I say who finds her two Gargoyles looking for the mate of their hearts to complete their family. Emmerich and Klaus are from Germany and they've moved to this little town because its pretty save for paranormal beings to live in peace here. While out scouting Klaus find a female alone hurt in the snow he can tell immediately from her scent that she's his mate but he doesn't want to scare her off. Morgan can't believe she's in the presence of not just one but two Gargoyles had they treat her better than an male she has ever dated before. They agree to spend the Christmas holiday together. Will Morgan want too stay with her gargoyles? Can Emmerichand Klaus convince her that no one will ever love her more than they will? Its Christmas so that means wishes and dreams do come true read and find out what happens you won't be disappointed! 🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🌶🌶

We got a sneak peak into this story from the last one when Emmerich crashed into Ariel and Jaspers house on Christmas to get supplies for their mate. But it’s totally standalone. It’s very sweet. I love that they are scared they will hurt her because she is so fragile (and came almost frozen to death with a hurt ankle). But after a while it got a little repetitive. I like that they discuss jealousy in the thruple. It feels more realistic and I like the solution they came to. But again it took to long. There was also no plot. Literally none. And if you have no plot then it needs to be short (it was mid at like 230 pages) or it needs to be SMOKING hot. And it was nice but not smoking hot. I was also super disappointed there was no MM action beyond kissing especially considering the book mentions how hot their sex is.
Monster (gargoyles). MMF. Emmerich and Klaus and Morgan. No virgins. Fated. Roost mates searching for a third. Scenting. Big cocks. Nesting. Breeding. Cums from licking pussy (Emmerich). Biting (klaus). Himbo (Emmerich). Biting mate mark. First human and first woman (Emmerich). No DP. Epilogue 6 months later with her deciding to get pregnant. No OMD/ OWD. No cheating. No breakup. No angst. No plot.

I love everything that Zoe Ashwood writes, and this was no exception.
Morgan is a scientist at heart, and when she heard of the mysterious flying creatures that have been spotted in the abandoned tower outside of town, she can’t wait to go investigate. Snow storm be damned. But then she gets hurt and rescued by gargoyles, she discovers far more than she bargained for.
Klaus is an older Gargoyle, the quiet brooding sort, but he adores his roost mate Emmerich, and has dreamed of completing their home with a third.
Emmerich is the sunshine to Klaus’ grump. He’s sweet and thoughtful and such a Golden retriever.
This is the second book in the Clearwater Monsters series. The first is Stranded with the Kraken. You don’t need to read it to read this one, but it is referenced and you do see the characters again. Plus it is some of the best tentacle smut I’ve read, so what are you even waiting for?
MMF (though there was no on page ⚔️) Super steamy. Super cozy. Instalove. Fated mate. Quick read.
Whenever I read Zoe Ashwood book I know that it is going to be a feel good story with light angst and spice! This book was exactly that.
The main character she got over a bad break up and is kind of doing reckless things and finds herself with two gargoyles. The gargoyles were originally in a relationship together and then she comes in. I won’t say too much so I don’t spoil it.
This is a standalone so there’s a bit of instalove But I feel like it’s not so instantaneous that it would make someone not want to read it.
The book is definitely spicy. However, the MM scenes really only include kissing. There’s nothing else that happens between the two. So if MM is not your thing, you can probably skip past the kissing, which is incredibly brief. And if MM is your thing, there’s very little.
I really love the world that Zoe Ashwood is building and I cannot wait for the next book to come out.
If you like your romances cosy, spicy and with a couple of large (very large) cinnamon roll monster mates, then this is the book for you.
It’s a spicy monster romance where our human FMC gets to have two fated gargoyle mates and she doesn’t have to choose between them.
It’s Christmas, its snowing, the conditions outside are treacherous but our bat-crazy FMC goes on a solo hike through the forest in search of the large winged species rumoured to live in an abandoned tower.
She gets more than she bargained for when she injures herself trying to get back to her vehicle and is rescued by a very large gargoyle, who recognises her as the third fated nest-mate he and his partner have been searching for.
She doesn’t take much convincing and what follows is a spicy exploration of what it means to be the only female in a very active mated trio.
