Much Ado About Omega

Rate this book
Potentially sweet, partially feral!

Brothers Orion, Archibald, and Bo Edris are three of the highest-ranking Alphas in the government, taking strong modern drugs to suppress their natural predator's instincts and ability to scent an Omega. Until one day at an important state dinner they scent Harmony Stirling. She’s an unmated Omega working as a waitress to earn enough money to start her own cupcake business. And she's trying to avoid attention from big, intimidating Alphas.

The drug is completely ineffective against how powerfully Harmony arouses all their suppressed protective instincts. The brothers are driven to claim her, but the sweet, messy, scatterbrained Omega isn’t anything like they expected, and she doesn’t think she can fit into their elite lifestyle.

What happens when three repressed Alphas meet one reluctant Omega?

Much Ado About Omega is a sweet & steamy standalone Omegaverse romance with low angst and high doting.Scenting, nesting, heats, knotsMFMM, no MMMulti-POVHEA

How was this marked as a SWEET read?? I don’t understand. This was horrible. They smell an omega right away and just take her. She has no say in anything. They want to mark her, fu€k her and impregnate her as soon as they meet her and she DONT WANT IT!! She asks a doctor for help and they just ignore her. They alphas just ignore her. — “I don’t want to have sex with any of them and their horrible big knots. How can I get out of it, Doctor?” They try and force her into heat so they can fu€k because she won’t be able to say no. So r@p3y

Sweet, campy, Omegaverse romance with creative world-building.

Summary:

Harmony is an undercover Omega. Originally from the country, Harmony moved to the Alpha-overloaded capital city for work, dreaming of one day opening a bake shop. Terrified of Alphas, Harmony carefully suppresses her Omega scent with herbs. Of course, the one day she forgets to take her suppressant, she is working a catering gig for Cammaris's top governing family.

There are Alphas and then there are Alphas. Three top-ranking Cammaris government officials, the Eldris brothers can't afford to be distracted by an Omega. Complete personality opposites, Orion (Enforcer), Arch (Minister of Innovations), and Bo (Head Flight Instructor), form a tense and disconnected pack. Yet, when the three scent Harmony, they are suddenly united in their devotion to claim her and keep her happy.

Having found Harmony, the brothers will not let her go. Will Harmony accept the trio as her mates? Can the pack stay united after the pheromones wear off, despite their differences?

In the background of these relationships, Cammaris has been experiencing severe drought, causing unrest within the country. Not to mention, there's something strange about the other Omegas living in the capital.

Review:

I see mixed opinions in the reviews, but I actually thought this story was super sweet!Three powerful dudes absolutely brought to their knees for this girl, so completely doting -- it's the fantasy.

The premise and pacing felt pretty similar to other Omegaverse romances I've read. Alphas previously uninterested in a mate scent THE super special Omega and try to claim her despite her reluctance towards Alphas -- it's a pretty standard plot.

Despite her initial hesitancy, it's not until Harmony feels comfortable with and expresses an interest in each of the males that she goes into heat, giving her at least a little time to assure herself that they actually care about her not just mating her (true, it happens fast).

The world-building is unique and imaginative, though I would have liked to see more of it, particularly in three areas:

1. I didn't fully understand what the story was behind why Harmony was so afraid of Alphas / did not want to be claimed. Usually, the Omega has had some Alpha-related trauma in the past or mating would significantly limit her independence. As far as I could tell, Harmony just thought Alphas were generally scary. I wanted higher, clearer stakes as to why so many real Omegas are avoiding mating, why their families don't want it, snd how that's related to the drought.
2. The fake Omega plot point was so interesting, but we don't learn very much about it--maybe that's coming in the sequel? It seems like all of the Omega issues are somehow connected to the country's drought and I just wanted to know more.
3. Along the same lines, what are the Omegas doing to bring forth the water? Do they have to be mated, or could this be something they could figure out and do on their own? Unclear.

(Side note: I liked that Omega is not gendered in this world.)

The most important thing you need to know about this book:

Bo is an absolutely sweetie + "baby girl" 🥹 ?? stop it, I want one

Conclusion:

In a nutshell--cute, fast, and fun. I ate it up.

The couple: Orion/Bo/Arch and Harmony

Romance trope: omegaverse
Length: 209 pages

Plot: Harmony is an omega from the country masquerading as a beta. She's working a catering gig and is discovered by three of the most powerful alphas in the land Orion, Bo, and Arch, brothers who form a pack. While she's not enthusiastic about being claimed, the guys will do anything to win her trust and affection.

Commentary: Harmony was cute - sassy but not in an overdone, snarky, bitchy sort of way. She seemed to know there was no escape for her and she made the best of it, and then found that of course they really were the alphas for her.
I think the addition of the idea of fake omegas was intriguing (and I wonder if the alphas knew - they would have had to, right?) and I like the idea of the true omegas being able to solve the drought problems. I did not necessarily like the addition of shifter ancestry causing an alpha to go feral - seems like a case of everything and the kitchen sink. The story was sweet, though, and low angst.
And Harmony saving the whole servant family was adorable.

Why is this marked as sweet?

I can't help but wonder if other reviewers and I read the same book. This is absolutely NOT sweet! I read quite a bit of Omegaverse and while I would mark this as low-angst I would never say this is sweet.

The Alpha men adamantly do NOT want an Omega, however they scent the FMC at a dinner party and know she is theirs. She is trying to hide her designation and the Alphas immediately and quite literally chase her down, grab her, say she is theirs now, and talk amongst themselves about how they can't wait to put her into heat so they can mark and impregnate her... within minutes of scenting her for the first time ever. Meanwhile, the FMC is terrified, doesn't want these men, but they don't listen. They force her to take them to her apartment and have her pack her bags immediately, displacing her from her home without a care. Her protests continue to be ignored and they brush her off saying "once you're in heat you will want us". Like WHAT!

Then they force her to a doctor's office and continue to disregard how she doesn't want to be there or with them and even the doctor brushes off her feelings and encourages them to mate her when she's in heat.

There is ZERO courting. (unless you want to count that the men will just throw money at whatever she wants without getting to know her first. It all feels superficial and shallow) This whole thing felt like a Stockholm Syndrome book. They have her trapped in their house and wait until she's biologically primed for them, all the while complaining that they have to wait at all.

Also the random addition of the weird Omega powers at the end was a little baffling and out of left field. (I want to prove I'm an Omega so I will climb down this wall??? so bizarre)

I just can't with people calling this sweet. If this is sweet to you then I sincerely hope you find someone to treat you better in your own life because this is a giant red flag in book form.

As a side note not relating to the plot itself: it was kind of clunky to read. This is written in 1st person, multi-POV, but randomly switches from past tense to present tense, sometimes within the same paragraph. It made for an awkward reading experience.

Needs work

The storyline is unique and this could be a really good book but it needs a lot of work. The writing is immature, I also don’t think it’s been edited or proofread. Some chapters are in past tense when they should be present, and some chapters have both past and present tense. Sentences and paragraphs start on one path then out of the blue yeet to a whole other thought strain. There’s no world building or character development. One of the alphas, the playboy, comes to a meal (no real depiction if the meal is a luncheon or dinner) celebration for their retired father directly after leaving a spicy rendezvous with another woman and is immediately in love with the FMC as soon as he scents her. One moment the FMC is outside midday with the sun shining in her face, approximately an hour or so later she’s stating she’s going to bed for the night. There’s no real back ground to any of the characters. The pack takes the FMC to a lunch with their parents to introduce her and most of the interaction is about the FMC not knowing how to eat sushi. It was a struggle but I got about 50% through and I had to stop reading. As an abide OV reader, I understand how scents are the pinnacle of all OV stories, but the MMC scent is of rocks? There’s other turns of phrase that are unfamiliar or just not relevant to the story used and I could just not follow along. I would encourage the author to rewrite this story, maybe with a ghost writer, definitely with an editor and proofreaders. Plenty of readers enjoy beta reading for authors to help them along for free, this may be a possibility. It’s a lovely concept but execution falls way short of the mark.

Over-the-top can be charming, but not when it comes at the cost of, oh, the heroine’s agency. She’s very loud and open about how she does not want the men around her, yet they drag her their home, and even to a doctor, where the only discussion subject is when she will be ready to be fucked. They don’t ask her birthday; they don’t ask about her favorite food. They barely asked her name before they discarded anything else that came out of her mouth because it wasn’t as important as getting her fucked, despite the fact she’s very, very clear she doesn’t want that, ever.

It hits a peak when Bo and Arch try to assault her. She’s crying, her clothes getting ripped to pieces as two large men fight to fuck her, as she asks Orion for help. And he goes:
She’s a naughty girl, asking me for help when she’s the one making it worse by driving my brothers to a fever pitch.
Except all she was doing was exist in the same room as them. They’re the ones who couldn’t keep it in their pants. And it gets worse when after Orion finally does rescue her and the men apologize for trying to rape her, she goes
“Well, no harm dome. I guess that was a little practice run. Anyone want to watch a movie?”
I cannot blame anyone for dropping this rape apology bullshit. It would be gross in any book, but it’s extra so in one that tries to pass itself as ‘sweet’.

Also, for a country suffering a drought, these men sure love talking about buying homes with pools, or building them.

Honestly, I couldn't finish this. This book lacked so much depth in the story, that it made everything seem so flat and uninteresting. The idea behind this onegaverse was quite different than average, where if an alpha scents an Omega he has immediate rights to claim her, and if they don't bond bite her in the height of climax during her heat then every subsequent heat will be excruciatingly painful for her. I wish there was just more development with the world that this was based in since the omegaverse is not the typical.

I also wish that there was more character development. I feel that each character lacked layers of personality, they were all just one note. I can see where the author was trying to go with each of their different types... Orion was the broody leader, Bo was the playboy golden retriever, and Arch was the bookworm... but they lacked so much more that it was hard to actually connect to and like any of them. In that sense, Harmony was even worse. She literally had no personality at all, like she had the smallest amount of sass at the beginning but overall she was a doormat. Couldn't really like her with a lack of a personality that she had.

I read 60% of this book and it's like nothing actually happened at all. It was so damn boring that I kept getting distracted by other things, which is never this case when I actually sit down with a good book... especially a good omegaverse. Even the steam was so boring and didn't even get me immersed within the story.

Over all, this was a total fail that I DNF 👎🏻

I don't usually give 1 star reviews. But this book just seemed rushed with a lot of dub con. I really think that the trigger warning needs to be expanded on because while it was sweetish the alphas were all "NO YOU MUST HAVE A HEAT SO I CAN BOND YOU WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT"
and she didn't want to bond anyone. And when her heat comes around, she's giving in but i feel like thats not consensual. that's more dub con if anything. and they stressed SO MUCH in the first few chapters like "They were so popular and they were f*cking anyone with a willing hole and they were all *ssholes but like..... She's all "I don't wanna bond with you. but i see the chemistry and I wonder if we could have something" and they're all "I have to wait 4 weeks to f*ck the omega I own? F*ck that!" Let's give her a heat by forcing her to stop taking supressants. now if they courted her properly, then I could understand. BUT they don't give her anything that she wants. Just a house and even then they don't do anything thoughtful. Like, sayyy, she loves roses, perhaps daily someone could give her roses. But no. nothing. and they're all like during your heat, you need a big nest to do the dirty with them all.
So...
You get the idea.
Don't recommend, will probably never read again because it wasn't really fun to read. I DNFed at around 60%.

Love,
Ishya

Super sweet steamy Omegaverse

This was a super sweet, super low angst, but very steamy, omegaverse read. It’s a bit different from others I’ve read. There’s three brother alphas, no MM. She’s a country raised Omega who has been taking suppressants and is fearful of all alphas. They’re city born, elite alphas. She’s working in the city as a waitress at a fancy event and forgot to take her suppressant and is scented by the wealthy brothers, who claim her. It’s insta-adoration on their part.

Editing- a few spots need touching up. Bo/Beau, etc. Overall not horrible, but the names drew me out.

There’s a lot of 🔥🔥scenes. The brothers all have very different and clearly defined personalities. I missed the omega nesting and nurturing I’ve seen in the handful of omegaverse books I’ve read before. There’s a storyline regarding some corruption- fake Omegas, a drought, and the alpha’s father pushing them to invade another territory, and none if it is resolved by the end. I can only assume it’s to be continued into the next book? But who knows? It just sort of ended abruptly. She’s also six months pregnant at the end, and it just ends. So, a but unsatisfying. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Overall, this book wasn't too bad. I don't think the part about mentioning the shifter's blood or even the omega magic was really needed in the story. Maybe if it was mentioned at the beginning of the book and continued to be talked about than it would have been better. Also, creating the fake omega problem was a bit out of nowhere and didn't add to the story much if any at all. Hopefully with any other books that will be in this series will continue on with the subjects and resolve them. I think this book was sweet and has some low angst at the beginning but, our FMC is over her fears and starts to like the alphas before her first heat so that was resolved. I was just hoping for more courting and maybe even having a reason other than "Alphas are bigger and better at 90% of things" like maybe she had a bad run in with some while hiding that she was an omega.

After reading some of the reviews, i wondered if I was reading the same story or not, because this is sweet. I didn't find anything forced or dubcon, noncon even.
Slight pacing issues, the whole thing about fake omegas wasn't expanded upon. And if omegas could bring forth water and nurture so much then why wasn't Harmony's village super prosperous since it did contain more than 1 omega. But anyways if you ignore those other aspects, it was decent.
It was also the only omegaverse book I've read which did not talk about slick. Also the knotting was.... nothing since they seemed to deflate almost instantly.
I might try out the second book too

I dnf'd at 16% and I felt that was generous. I read a LOT of omegaverse and I realize they come in all shapes and sizes - dark, sweet, spicy, slow-burn...you name it. I will enjoy it all. But ugh. I just couldn't with this one.

The FMC is soooo weak-sounding and pitiful. The alphas were not just overbearing but almost like dumb Neanderthals. They discover she's their scent match then go after her like, "You Jane, me (us) Tarzan." And apparently in this world once they tag her, she's theirs! Finders, keepers! There's nothing she can say about it. AWFUL.

I'm sure if I had continued to read then the plot would've gotten better but I needed better, sooner. Sorry!

I was going to DNF around 20-30% but for some reason kept reading. Harmony doesn’t want alphas but once the MMCs smell her they don’t take no for an answer. They didn’t even try to win her over or anything they were just like “once you go into heat you’ll change your mind and we’re gonna claim you”. And that’s basically what happened then all of a sudden she loves them. There was no actual relationship development. She keeps saying she doesn’t want to be with them and they don’t listen and she tells the doctor she doesn’t want to be with them and he does nothing. This was so gross.

I have no idea in what universe it is considered as sweet when the female looses her identity, has no say over her body, is potentially assaulted, looses all sense of autonomy and is belittled when she speaks up in fear.
They meet and he instantly says he's in love with her and whines about the fact that she's not in heat because he wants to bind them together permanently...and continues to whine about the fact that she's not loving him back, isn't in heat and continues to assault her - which is her own fault for walking into a room that he's forcing her to stay in?

Delicious!!! I love omegaverse RH stories. Harmony was so cute and I loved seeing her get comfortable with her Alphas and show them how much she wanted them. But it was even better seeing how the Alphas changed so easily for their Omega and it be real fate and love, not just hormones.
I do wish that we saw more of Arch tying up and spanking Harmony and I really hoped that Orion would lose more control and show Harmony his true First Alpha dominant side.
Loved the story and can't wait to read the next one!!!

I give up.

Maybe reader error here, but there's so much disconnect in the writing style that I could not appreciate the characters thoughts, actions and motivations. It's just a jumble. There are sweet moments, but it's a weird insta-romance that somehow skips three weeks in the build up. It has potential, but I felt like its story mapping did not match the tropes chosen for the plot-line. Just an...odd bit of novel.

Fake omega town

I really enjoyed this refreshingly different omegaverse. I loved how primal Bo was. Orion was the ultimate first alpha. The balance between omega and land seems to be causing the drought, it just felt connected. I would have given it a 5 stars but that ending was abrupt and left me hanging on what was going on with fake omegas. The story just seemed unfinished.

Not great

I love a good omegaverse and this one wasn’t one of those. No story, no depth and no character development. It kind of reminded me of stories my teenagers would write where they have to get so much done in one session. Generally bland and boring, and the characters flat and annoying.

Very very inconsistent and all the plot points were unnecessary. Felt very Wattpad. ALL of it felt overdone and ridiculous.

Omegaverse. Knotting. No shifter/monster. No Virgin. No cheating. No OMD/OWD. OTT fluff and besotted MMCs. MMMF. Brothers. Biting/marking. DP. Spanking. Hidden power in omega. Billionaire alphas. I hate everyone but you alphas.

Much Ado About Omega

This is a fun story of a girl who has hidden who she is and the jaded wealthy Alphas who fall quickly for her. Loved their protectiveness and willingness to change some of their ways for her. Thanks Valancy for a great read. I wish you had more books to read right now. 😊

it's not particularly realistic even for an omegaverse, but it was certainly entertaining and a fun light read. there wasn't much conflict about wanting her and instead focused on the agonising wait for her heat. it kinda gave Stockholm syndrome. more lust than love, really. but it was still a fun read!

This author has potential but this was really not good. There was no thought to the plot or storyline and the characters actions were seemingly random at best most of the time. The dialogue was choppy and the writing was often hard to follow.
