When the brilliant and goal-getter, Itunu had all her life mapped out with the help of God, she had no idea how unpredictable it was going to be. She looked God in the eye and called him a scam! Late bloomer brings you to the door of total surrender of God’s school of patience.
Late Bloomer gently, and maybe a little painfully ushered me into God’s school of patience… the one nobody willingly applies for but everyone must attend. 🥲
I loved how raw and honest Itunu, the FMC, was. No sugarcoating about how messy and convoluted her emotions were as she journeyed through the tough seasons of life, especially with regards to marriage (or the lack thereof). Through her story, I learned that doing all the right things for God doesn't mean that for a reward you'll get things according to your own preferences and desires.
If you’ve ever wondered if you missed God’s timing, compared your timeline to everyone else’s, felt embarrassed about “starting late”, smiled in church but cried in your room, been betrayed/disappointed/misunderstood by trusted people... This story is your mirror. 🫂 This book reminded me that delay is not denial, and blooming late doesn’t make the flower any less beautiful. 🌺
My only reservation was that the first chapter preamble could have been done away with and the story's essence still would have been retained. Plus, I'm still pissed off by Lanre. That guy needs serious therapy, maybe even deliverance for that stunt he pulled. (Not the Holy Spirit trying to still hammer forgiveness into my head as I write this 😂🥲😭)
Read with an open heart… and maybe a box of tissues nearby. 🥹💛
