I heard Cory Allen on a MW podcast and decided to read his book because the podcast was pretty good. However, once I started the book, I never really got excited about reading it. It was a pretty easy read about mindfulness, I liked that it was written in a non complicated way and I agree with a lot of the ideas/topics discussed in the book. Just for me it did not have that personal feeling in it.

-----

Some ideas that I liked:
- When our body is tense, it makes our mind tense. And that makes our view of reality tense-which is exactly what we don't want.
- Self-growth is self-discovery.
- Rest isn't just about restoring your energy. It's also about giving yourself enough space to reflect so you can strengthen your perspective.
- Progress illusion: what happens when we mistake thinking about change with actually taking action.
- If you are doing something that makes you feel good, you should keep doing it to keep feeling good. The benefits will stack up.
- Knowing is different from confidence.

⚡This book is about learning practical ways to take charge of your mind, let go of the old thought habits and approach life with clarity. This book is really like a plan to become more brave and new you. It will make you to stop overthinking, control impulsive thoughts and gaini power over your thoughts. It makes you to learn to accept your own love, care and admiration.

⚡ The book is divided into 5 parts divided into 18 chapters. Each chapter will make you brave than before. This inspiring book awares us to don't worry about fitting into the illusion of normal. Stop over fearing your power . Focus on doing things yours way. And let those challenges you spent time avoiding give you the meaning you've been searching for all along. Letting go of the desire to impress others puts you in a mental power position.

⚡When you no longer care what other people find valuable, there is an automatic internal shift toward peace. That's because the fuel for self consciousness is a need to please others so you can feel safe and free from the fear of feeling vulnerable. The book is a reminder that if you want to be happy, prioritize doing things in life that make you feel alive. And make sure it isn't something other people say should bring you joy. Forget what other people think and do exactly what gives you that feeling like nothing else. Then do it again and again.

⚡It is a transformative read that offers a roadmap for anyone looking to reinvent themselves and live authentically. The author's insightful guidance and relatable narrative make this book a must-read for those seeking to embrace change and cultivate a life true to their values. Whether you're at a crossroads in your life or simply looking for motivation, this book will inspire you to take bold steps toward becoming the best version of yourself.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish this one. The scope of the book was broad, so each chapter was fairly superficial in the material it covered. It was like a series of Instagram posts put together. Not for me, but it might be helpful for other getting started on their self-healing journey and looking for an introduction.

This book masterfully demonstrates how adopting the right mindset makes achieving ambitious goals attainable. If I could recommend just one book to guide you toward personal and professional growth, it would undoubtedly be this one.

✴️While habits play a crucial role in our daily lives, the discipline required for meaningful growth comes from our inner conscience. This book offers practical mental models and techniques to cultivate such a mindset.

✴️It has been instrumental in helping me recognize and address the negative mental narratives we often create through overthinking or baseless assumptions. Additionally, it provides effective strategies to manage the anxiety.

✴️The author shares profound lessons on unlocking our potential and overcoming the obstacles and assumptions that hold us back. This book inspires us to recognize our intrinsic value and harness it to tackle significant challenges and seize opportunities. With its guidance, the progress we aim for in life feels not only possible but also achievable in a smoother, more intentional way.

✴️Rooted in the philosophy of stoicism, the book presents foundational values that help clarify and deepen our understanding of the topics it explores.

✴️I wholeheartedly recommend Brave New You to anyone seeking clarity, motivation, and actionable insights for personal transformation.

I picked up this book after hearing the author on "The Psychology" podcast. I was looking for something spiritual / mindful based to read. It is a pretty easy read. I've also listened / subscribed to his podcast, which I generally describe as deep thoughts for 15 minutes.
He said when he was guest on the psychology podcast he was trying to jam everything he knew to help others into the book. It definitely read that way, as if he was, in short chapters, trying to be concise about what he thinks will help the reader create a better self.
I agree with a lot of what he wrote, and have thought similarly, or more likely, read similarly, elsewhere. I thought the book was a pretty easy read, sort of mindfulness 101. And there is nothing wrong with that, in fact, that's excellent, because mindfulness doesn't have to be complicated. I'm honestly not sure where my lack of enthusiasm comes from. I never got really excited about the book once I started reading it.
I still think it is a good book for those looking to be more in control of who they are, which would start with mindfulness.

This book will help you transform your instinct that more is possible into reality.
Many people understand that their thoughts influence their lives, but they often don't know how to act on that knowledge. They live passively, letting life happen to them. Brave New You shows you how to take charge and live more intentionally.
I've shared a few insights from this book and will post a full review soon. Loving it so far this is the perfect book to kick off 2025 !

I think this is a really good book on self growth and development. Last year I read Yung Pueblos ‘Lighter’ which did a lot for me of what this book is doing and I found it transformative. I recommend both.
