He’s called a monster, a beast, a dragon, and he’s chosen me. I think I’m in trouble. Again. Yeah, alien abduction is for suckers. If I thought my life was bad before I woke up in the alien prison, it’s just about to get a whole load worse, because I’ve been rescued by an alien warrior who is much better at stripping flesh from bone than being a hero. Draxx has glowing green scales, endless muscles, huge claws and very often, a tail. He also prefers not to wear pants. He has cheekbones I could cut myself on and a set of lips which are very good at kissing. Ask me how I know… I’m on a personal mission. Not only am I not going to let alien abduction beat me, I’m going to find the other humans I heard in my part of the prison and free them. Nothing’s going to stand in my way. Not even the big green scaled alien warrior with a domination streak, dirty talk and burning desire to make me his mate. If he doesn’t get out of my way, I won’t be responsible for what happens next. The problem is, I think it’s going to be him stealing my heart. The Fated Mates of the Sarkarnii series continues with DRAXX, a warrior with a huge heart who doesn't believe he deserves love and a human who has had her heart crushed one too many times. Spicy, delicious and with always a HEA.

These Two Were Pure Chaos

The second book in the Fated Mates of the Sarkarnii. We fell in love with Draco in book 1 but Draxx was absolutely adorable ina grumpy sort of way. He and Jem were made for each other. Draxx needed someone who could match his level of chaos and Jem had what he needed in spades.

Jem was no damsel in distress and was always ready to show up and show out. She was on her own mission to help find the other missing women abducted but first she has to get rid of of the big green alien dragon who won't leave her side.

Both Jem and Draxx had obstacles they needs to overcome before they accepted that they were worthy of love but Sarkarnii love hard and they mate for life. Draxx and Jem takes us on a wild ride full of tension, angst, chaos and adventure. Jen was definitely Draxx's ride or d*e because she had his back without a doubt.

Watching the two of them bond and connect was chaotic poetry in motion.

3.5

Draxx was a fun MMC with lots of chaotic energy and Jem was a bit of a firecracker. They had some solid chemistry. The plot dragged in a few places though.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: torture (brief with minimal description), abduction (off page), medical experimentation

Imagine waking up in your own personal hell. Not knowing where you are or how you got there. Fighting to survive.
This sci fi romance has lots of action monsters and fated mates. But it is all they can do to survive in a prison full of terror.
The story is not overly long but it is entertaining enough to escape for a few hours.

🔥🔥🔥

I will keep this simple. I liked the characters more in this one, but the plot was too similar for me to have fun reading it. Draxx was more moody MMC (love a broody MMC) and Jem was a great fierce FMC. She never gave up on finding the other human women, and didn't back down to anything. Draxx also was confused on his feelings about Jem, but eventually accepting who she was to him, he went full possessive/protective mode.

It just wasn't different enough for me from the first one. The third one seems to maybe give me a new type of plot, but I am going to take a break from this series and see if I pick it up later.

I wanted to love this! And some parts of it, I did!
Other parts just did not work for me. The plot seemed incredibly incongruent, and the traits of the characters seemed to contradict each themselves. A lot of the plot didn’t make sense to me, to no fault of my own it seemed to go in circles. This had a lot of potential to be a great book, however, it just fell flat for me. I still really love the idea behind the series, and the overall plot, so I may continue the series, but this book kind of frustrated me because I was looking forward to
Draxx’s story, and the beginning hooked me.

🔥 “I will follow you into the heart of a dying star if only to be by your side, my heartsfire.”
~~~
Jem is phenomenal! She’s fierce, brave, strong, stubborn and feisty. But she’s been dealing with quite a lot on Earth and being taken by aliens was the last thing she needed. But, despite her difficult situation, I loved the courage and resilience she showed. Even more, she was so fiercely protective and willing to bear any hardships to protect the other women. Jem is an incredible woman who doesn’t shy away from danger and I absolutely loved her!
Draxx is Draco’s younger brother and one remarkable male! The former Sarkarnii General is one growly, brooding, dangerous, deadly, slightly feral and unhinged warrior. And he’s a creature of violence and chaos who believes that, after failing to protect his people, his place is in the pits of Kirakos. But there is more to Draxx than meets the eye. Because the green-scaled dragon is also fiercely protective, strong, caring, considerate and clever. And he has a strong aversion to wearing pants, too. Even more, I quite loved his dominance, delicious possessiveness and filthy mouth. Draxx is absolutely amazing and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Jem and Draxx! Draxx and Drega go on a mission to rescue another human who is nothing like Draco’s mate. And she’s quite bitey! I loved Jem and Draxx together! I loved the tension, the bickering, and their banters and teasings were so much fun to read. And they make quite the awesome team, too. But with everything that has happened to Jem in the past, she’s not a woman who trusts and opens her heart easily. However, Draxx being his slightly feral, possessive and utterly irresistible self, manages to completely obliterate the walls surrounding her heart. Even more, I loved how protective, supportive and understanding they were of each other. And when they couldn’t resist the undeniable need for one another, the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot! Oh, these Sarkarnii males are absolutely knicker-melting! (And, yes, I DO want one for myself!) Draxx and Jem were absolutely perfect for each other and, after everything they went through, they more than deserved to find happiness, acceptance, healing and forever love together.
In addition, the storyline was phenomenal! We get to learn so much more about Kirakos and meet even deadlier creatures in the maze. And the unexpected revelations were absolutely mind-blowing. Humans and Sarkarnii might be more connected than anyone could imagine. Even more, we’re getting one step closer to finding the star map. With everything happening, I was glued to the pages till the very end, excited to see how everything will be resolved.
Overall, the story is another incredible addition to the series! It’s filled with danger, adventure, non-stop action, humor, drama, twists, suspense, smoking-hot passion and remarkable characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it!
Quick(ish) Review
The Sitch: Human women have been kidnapped (of course) and dropped on an alien prison planet because REASONS. You find out that they're fated to be mates of the Sarkarnii, some big dragon shifter dudes, including the MMC, who is morally against wearing pants and fights alot to forget his feelings. Great start. He meets the FMC
description
yes her name is Jem! and Yes I said it like that, every time. Anyhoodle, a British woman who has no idea why she's here but she's making the best of it, since she's used to getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop. Then romance eventually happens.
description
The Good: I liked the humor more in this book, mostly made in my own brain since I cannot say Jem without saying "truly outrageous!" in my head. Draxx is redonk most times but overall more fun than the last book. The dragon sexin' was as truly, truly, truly outrageous! (sorry I can't stop at this point) as I thought it'd be.
The Bad: Same as last book - the amount of time spent with these two talking to themselves about why they shouldn't be together can be cut in half. They're running around some maze that changes as the author needs it and there's no rhyme or reason to why and just when you'd think they're able to solve this problem and leave this planet, it doesn't work because they have more humans and dragons to hook up.
The Bottom Line: If i couldn't sing the Jem & the Holograms theme song in my head with this book, I may have liked it less. But I could so....
Good
Jem and Draxx
Warning: there is a small book-hook type cliffhanger in this, in the form of a rather large, unresolved storyline. It doesn’t rate too high on my trauma scale though, maybe a 3/5- and it does mean I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
***
Having been kidnapped by aliens, Jem finds herself in some place where she and a few other aliens are being experimented on; right as some large, scaled aliens break in and rescue her!
They are the Sarkarnii, a race of dragon shifting aliens, and they’re more than willing to help her; especially one called Draxx, who keeps referring to her as his mate…
***
This is the second book in the series, and it picks up shortly after the end of the first book in the series. While it’s a standalone romance, it’s part of an ongoing storyline, and definitely needs to be read in series order.
There is some considerable advancement in the ongoing background plot, as we find out a lot about the reasons behind the human presence on the prison world.
There are of course, plenty of sexy scenes in addition to the engaging main plot and the ever so intriguing background plot. There is a lot of action, and some cameos from our MCs from Draco, as well as further appearances of the other interesting Sarkarnii males, and the addition of some new characters.
This is a great, fast to read, sci-fi romance, for those alien and monster hero loving readers out there, and an enjoyable escapist read for the armchair space traveller.
Draxx is a Softie for Jem and I love it!
Oh Draxx…you surprised me! I have to be honest and say that I thought he was going to be a real tough nut to crack but he definitely surprised me by being dazzled by Jem right from the start. As soon as he saw Jem, his hips did a little popping and Boom💥 he was a goner for her. I absolutely love that! I love that there wasn’t any runaround with these two and that right from the start he knew without any convincing that he was going after her and she almost immediately gave into to him and surrendered. It was so lovely to read. Definitely a much needed change in tropes for me. I wish I had a dragon obsessed over me who wanted to do nothing more than worship me! Sign me up!
I definitely like reading more about the prison/maze planet they all find themselves in. It is like there is the possibility of an adventure and different creatures at every turn and I can’t wait to see what happens and if the Sarkarnii take it over or find a way off the planet. Another thing I really liked about this book was the introduction to several more human female characters and with that, the potential for more in the series. Yay! Oh Happy Day! I can’t wait to see how they all pair up!
I highly recommend this book and the one before it. Check them out!
Want an alien world of dragon shifters? Check ✔️
Want a not so distressed damsel who is cheeky and brave? Check ✔️ Want a luscious, hot dragon shifter who wants his treasure and no-one can change his mind ? Check ✔️ Want a mating ritual that is both sweet , endearing and laugh out loud funny ? Check ✔️
I've always loved shifters, but this is now my favorite one for dragons. Not haughty , British sounding bags of wind, but warriors with hungers , passions and the craziest sense of humor.
This book gets right into the story and weaves un the backstoty as it goes on. The back and forth between the main characters view points keeps each chapter fresh and none of that " woe unto me" stuff. The world that is created is well defined , and just when you think you have it all under your thumb, here comes a human to make it all the more interesting. The human DNA being the key to opening the maze and giving Draxx and his Kin the secrets to how to gain their freedom just floors me. I need more !!
This is book 2 , now book one us definitely on my list TBR.
4 Fab 🌟's for Draxx💖🔥
Draxx the second Sarkarnii to fall to a human mate. One who heals his wounded soul. Draxx was a general in the Sarkarnii Army and feels responsible for not stopping the almost complete destruction of his people. He has been wallowing in self doubt only allowing himself to feel the pain of the fighting pits. That is until Jem is rescued . Jem was one minute on Earth in the middle of a nasty divorce and the only decent thing in her life was her job. Being a lawyer that helps people in need. He life was filled with one disappointment after another. She had all but given up hope of finding love and a place she would be accepted and belong. Who knew it would take an alien abduction and a very gorgeous green dragon to change her mind. This second installment unravels more of the mystery of humans and Kirakos , more rescues happen and just when something is solved a new danger rises to take its place. I'm looking forward to the next in the series. 🔥💖🌟🌟💖🔥
Draxx and Jem, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g...
It probably wouldn't be a tree, but they would definitely be kissing.
Draxx would be in the dictionary next to 'alpha male' if the dictionary had pictures. He's very go-get-them and doesn't hesitate to do exactly what he wants to do, damn the consequences. He's really struggled with the loss of his family and friends, to the point that he doesn't even want to hope that some made it.
Jem. Oh, Jem. She is very strong and stubborn. She's a fighter, too, which is perfect for being Draxx's match. I love that she continues to fight for going back for the other humans too. She's very 'no woman left behind', and I just love it.
The storyline with this series is amazing. I enjoyed Amber and Draco's story a lot, and the way it led to Draxx and Jem's story. Now I'm waiting for our last brother, the healing fighter, to find his mate. But first! He needs a little bit of saving himself. Maybe his mate will be the one to save him?
Yes! Draxx Wears Pants! …Sometimes!
Draxx is book 2 in the Fated Mates of the Sarkarnii series and yet again another fantastic book! I loved getting to know Draxx and his broken heart, shattered self esteem and guilt. He is an exciting example of healing and growth. Jem is a lonely, insecure and yet strong abducted human female Draxx blasts his way into saving, protecting and falling head over heels for. And… we cannot forget the dancing!
We get to know a little more about the other brothers/warriors, fight more of the bad guys, and uncover more secrets of the Kirakos prison maze. There is a lot of action, drama and plenty of spice to enjoy.
I highly recommend starting the series from the beginning for the best enjoyment. But even more I suggest starting all the way from the start of this universe with Hattie’s Rogue Alien Warriors series then the Elite Rogue Alien Warriors series (where we first meet our Sarkarnii heroes) it all makes for an adventurous binge read!
Don’t forget to click the link at the end of the e-book for a Draxx bonus scene that should not be missed.
"You don't have to fight for me, heartsfire. I am already yours. I was yours from the first moment I saw you, and I will be yours until the end of time."
4.25 stars
This was another fun and ultra sexy addition to this series! I loved Jem's strength and vulnerability; she was made to feel unwanted in her life on Earth but was able to find an obsessed and unflinchingly loyal mate in Draxx. Draxx was chaotic, slightly unhinged, yet completely dedicated to his mate. He also did not think he was worthy of a mate, but these two lost souls were able to find peace and unending passion with each other. I look forward to more from Hattie Jacks🖤
Tropes: fated mates, touch her and die, morally grey hero, fierce heroine, forced proximity, who hurt you, soft only for her hero, alien prison maze, mating frenzy, sex in shifted form, dirty talk, STEAMY🔥
Hattie Jacks delivers another steamy, dreamy, flame throwing work of dragon bad boy perfection with Draxx!
Jem is abducted by some aliens with a devious plan that requires human DNA. Fate drops her in the same prison as a band of dragon shifters with a desire to regain their kingdom and freedom. Draxx knows he’s found his heartsfire…his fate. He has to overcome his self doubt and work to save the other humans and win his little mate!
Their story is action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat till the end! There’s nothing like a great fated love story with realistic heroines that have experienced real life and the disappointment that goes with it. It makes the love that much sweeter. But most importantly I love a plot that keeps you interested and looking forward to the next book! More dragon boys please! 😍👏👏👏
3⭐️- interesting book! Wasn’t my favorite but was definitely an interesting concept.
I received and ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Jem wakes up discovering that she has been kidnapped by aliens. She is taken to the Sarkarnii quadrant and told that her mate is there. Draxx is hesitant at first to claim his mate, but unable to act against the pull he feels to his treasure. The Sarkarnii believe that the humans are the key to finding the map out of the prison they are trapped in. Jem struggles to come to terms with her new reality, but can’t help but be happy to have a new set of circumstances, somehow better than her ones of Earth.
Not a bad book, kept putting it down and couldn’t get into it, but the writing was well done, the story and world building was consistent and new to me, and the concept is definitely very interesting.
"You are my flame eternal"
This is book 2 of the Sarkarnii books, and it does not disappoint.
We are met with Draxx and he is a super grumpy cinnamon roll that only has eyes for Jem. For so long he has felt loss with his entire race being destroyed and that it was somehow his fault. Jem tumbles into his life and while he doesn't want to leave his self imposed prison, she literally drags him out of it and into the light. I love that Jem is a fiery brand of woman and lets him have it right back and is not a damsel in distress. She comes with her own trauma from a past marriage and other relationships in the past. Together they work to find love and what it really means. I absolutely loved this book, and I already cannot wait for the next!
What a grump he started as. and one tiny human changed it all. one who's selfless and wants to help them.
En route to free more human females, this tiny slip of a human wasn't what he was expecting. certainly not one that got his heart pumping with need and desire. convinced that matehood is not for him (he had his shot and lost her) , he tries very hard to ignore her. but as the saying goes = what the heart wants, the heart wants and in case of Sarkarnii's that heart is as stubborn as a mule and very very hard to ignore ;).
as these two fight, battle give in to their feelings, the overal story continues and we learn a bit more again about this "prison" and it's "prisoners".
a must read if you like them grumpy and possesive.
Finding the right one
Abduction to a prison-like planet with a multitude of other aliens is not what solicitor Jem ever envisioned for her future. Having read the previous novel in this and others in connected world connected series, I really enjoyed watching what direction this human-Sarkarnii fated meet story would go. The mystery/suspense of finding the map and human women partnered with revealing the importance of human-Sarkarnii partnerships was very interesting. Blending sci fi with tidbits of real life experiences also made it so easy to connect and relate to this couple. Being accepted, valued and loved for yourself is a universal take away that made this story a pleasure to read.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily sharing my honest review.
Definitely a must read!
This is the second book in the Fated Mates Of The Sarkarnii series. If you read the first book then you know why the Sarkarnii are on this miserable prison planet.
Draxx is somewhat of a loose cannon , fearing his old self is lost, that is until he meets a feisty , quick as a whip human female. Jem. She alone sets him back on his rightful path.
Hattie created two wonderful characters, whose destiny intertwine. The journey they take is filled with knowledge. Coming from hidden sources.
When a Sarkarnii male meets their fated mate, they will stop at nothing to protect them.
Such a beautiful, romantic sexy read. Talk about creating your own fire 🔥
Love these alien handsome monsters! Jem finds herself being held prisoner on an alien planet when she was abducted from earth. The good thing about this abduction, her life literally sucked on earth. And the other good thing is that although she was thrown into a prison and is basically going to be a science experiment for her captors, she is kidnapped again by a tall, green, scaly monster/dragon named Draxx. These books by Hattie Jacks consume me. I love Draxx and his brothers. It's steamy and sizzling when these two get together. You do not want to miss this book and the other ones in this series of good-looking monsters and their mates.
The General
3.5 stars
The general gets a surprise when he goes on a mission to find the humans. He finds his mate, Jem.
In this book we find out why Draxx was so unhinged and going to the pit.
Jem's backstory is given...a father who gave her up for adoption, adoptive parents who didn't treat her well, no mention of her mother and a ugly divorce.
This was an instalust story. Jem's declaration of love kind of rang hollow. Her go to response was what Draxx wanted. For a lawyer, she lost her own opinion quickly.
New humans were introduced, hints of future pairing/books given.
Still love the banter and undertone of love between the brothers.
I for one am a total sucker for Hattie Jacks works.
I was soooo excited to see this series got a box set and preordered it with the quickness ✅
When I saw the second book was for Draxx I was SO excited. Draxx had been promised a mate before his world/kind was destroyed, Draxx has a serious case of survivors guilt, but then he met Jem. I felt like the prison planet is a really interesting concept and I enjoy the bigger picture of why they’re there. Like all of Hattie Jacks books this one got spicy quick! No slow burn needed! 5/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Jem and Draxx
Draxx in an excellent addition to the Fated Mates of the Sarkarnii. Draxx is a quiet mystery in the first book Draco. We know he is angry and tries to quiet his mind fighting in the pits. Jem wakes up after being abducted from Earth, confused and scared, definitely not expected a big green guy saying "Mine!". Their story is sweet. They help the other heal mentally from past issues. As always, the Sarkarnii males are reading for claiming their mates with some nice spicy scenes.
Pants. Pants!!! Pants are apparently optional.
At least to Draxx.
I really like Draxx the big, chaotic, loving, scaley, male Sarkarnii hero of this book.
Jem has to overcome her insecurities with men and relationships in order to fully bond with Draxx. Draxx in turn needs to find himself and deals with trying to be a good male for his female.
I found the humor in this book chuckle worthy. Like, pants. And hips snapping this way and that for dancing while maintaining it is not for a mate.
Anyways, a great second book in the series! I’m excited for the rest of the series!!!
After reading the first book and being introduced to Draxx, I was actually looking forward to his book. When we're first introduced to Draxx he's a broody type that they have to drag out of the fighting pits. He had a sweet disposition but a tortured soul. They kept with that for about one chapter and then Draxx just became a copy and paste personality of Draco. Sigh... so much potential wasted. As always, the female characters are stupid pushovers. Jem follows along with this trope. There's so much world building and this series could be so good..... the author just failed at the characters.
Omg.
This book. This series. Everything about it is amazing. The writing is fantastic, the plot is phenomenal, the action, suspense and banter is plentiful. Draxx was everything I thought he would be, and his issues with pants were giggle inducing. Jem was a strong fierce woman who had a shitty upbringing and life and had a hard time accepting what was in front of her but the push and pull between her and Draxx was mesmerizing. I could not put this book down and oh, do I want more. It was awesome to see a little more about the other warriors but January is so far away (not really but I'm being dramatic because this series is amazing.) Must read for anyone who loves dragons aliens, romance and dominant males who go gooey for their strong sassy women
General recovery
Draxx spends his days in the Pit, in mindlessly bloody fighting. It beats the guilt that assails the former General who lost rank, honor, and all his people. The rescue of human Jem signals a reversal of fortune for Draxx, and all the other imprisoned Sarkarnii dragon shifters. Jem takes a bit longer to get with the new program, but this messy, sexy, action-filled war of liberation leaves no one behind - except Drega...
