Tales from Michigan Stadium takes you behind the scenes for some of the great moments in University of Michigan Football history. From "Kip" Taylor, who scored the first touchdown at Michigan Stadium in the late '20s, to Lloyd Carr, the Wolverines' current head coach, you'll get details of the stories you've heard about, and some that you haven't. Players who knew Yost, Oosterbaan, Crisler, Elliott, and Schembechler tell their stories about practice, famous plays, and games from one of the most tradition-rich football programs in collegiate history.
Cool look into the past history of the Big House and Michigan football. Enjoyed learning about a different era of sports. My copy was also signed by the author, who I used to listen to call games on the radio with my dad.
I got this from Dad a few years ago as a gift. I finally read it as my "briefcase book," meaning it was mostly read on the ferry. It is not that great. I knew about 1/3 of the anecdotes included in the book, but that's not the reason for the rating. Brandstatter is just not a very good writer. He's a king of the cliché. He comes across as a nice guy, an editor-less nice guy.
This is a great compilation of some of the greatest moments and stories that happened at Michigan Stadium. Brandstatter, a former UM player, does a nice job of detailing each story, as well as spreading them out over the 80+ year history of football at the Big House.
