Tripp Sadie Allen is a pain in my side and the hottest girl I’ve ever seen. She holds the power to bring me the stories I need to be seen as more than a cocky hockey player, but a super-star athlete, Only, she wants nothing to do with me. My lifelong dream was to play professional hockey after I graduated. I realize that the one girl I can't stand is the same person I can't stop thinking about. Now I need to prove to Sadie that she's actually looking for someone exactly like me.
Sadie Everyone worships Tripp Stevens on campus. Well, almost everyone. To everyone else, he’s the charismatic, sexy-as-sin, star of the university’s Hockey team. But to me, he is the bane of my existence and in the way of the top story that would land me the Journalism internship I have been dreaming of my entire life. This job is everything I’ve ever wanted, and I won’t risk it for anything—not even for a hockey hottie that makes my blood boil and heart race. When all I want is to remain behind the scenes, pulls me into the spotlight. It’s all a game to him. He enjoys my misery. What he’s not prepared for though, is the sass and stubbornness that I am prepared to use against him.
Falling for Tripp wasn’t part of my plans, but it seems that fate has a mind of its own…Puck Me.
A longtime escapist into books, M.A. Lee began writing cozy mysteries and romances when other sources of that gold ran out. The gold nuggets of Mary Stewart, Georgette Heyer, Andre Norton, Phyllis A. Whitney, and Elizabeth Peters inspired her to write her own nuggets, even if they're only pyrite.
Look for the Into Death series, set after World War I, and the other books in the Hearts in Hazard series.
Favorite Books of all Time: Mary Stewart's My Brother Michael. Mary Stewart's This Rough Magic. Georgette Heyer's Venetia. Ellis Peters' The Virgin in Ice. Andre Norton's Year of the Unicorn
Authors that I will recommend beyond the influences and the favorites: Dorothy L. Sayers. Tony Hillerman. Tamara Leigh. Patricia Briggs. Lindsay Buroker. Linnea Sinclair. W.R. Gingell. Agatha Christie. C.J. Cherryh.
3.5 stars This was a great quick book. I really wish it was longer and maybe more spaced out as I felt the second half of the book was really rushed. Overall it was a cute book that highlighted the struggles of dating famous athletes and how not everything on social media is true and how easily it can be twisted. I wish the book touched a little more on Sadie’s home life since it seemed like they just dropped little bombs in every once in a while but never the end result to it.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Sadie has lived a life of privileged but her dreams of the life and the future that she wants could not be further from what her parents want for her, she has no interest in becoming a lawyer like the family legacy demands, her dreams are of becoming a journalist, a serious journalist. Moving away and getting in to Sunnyvale University was meant to be the start of building that dream, instead she has been tasked with making the notorious Tripp Stevens who is well known as a womanizer and the star of the hockey team PR friendly, however Tripp’s attitude and the way that he dismisses her causes her to rethink her Hockey Star Profile online with disastrous results, but what Sadie wasn’t expecting was that she would now be in charge of making Tripp look respectable and the more time that they spend together there is a side that she would never guessed existed. With her feelings towards him changing will she give in to the charms of a playboy and will she be just another notch on the bedpost?
Tripp has worked hard to get where he has, his life could not have been further from a secure and privileged home, but he is now the star of his college Hockey team and enjoying all the trappings that come with it, women are lining up to be with him in twos, threes and fours but recently his coach and possibly NHL coach’s aren’t looking at his reputation and seeing nothing but scandal and sensational headlines. So when he is ordered to play nice with a journalist who is meant to be helping re-brand him and change the perception of him in the public eye doesn’t go well he knows that he needs to buck his ideas up, he hadn’t planned on catching feelings for her or that she would be immune to his charms. But with his feelings growing for her by the minute and that all he can think about is her, but with his reputation will she believe that his feelings for her are genuine, or will his past destroy his future?
This is a new author for me and although I did really enjoy this story there was a disconnect on the chemistry between the characters and I did not feel that spark was there. Would still recommend the book and I will definitely read more in this series 4*.
We are at Sunnyvale College. Sadie Allen is trying to make it as a journalist against her parent's better judgement. She is determined to succeed at her dream. Unfortunately, she is forced to do an article on something that she has absolutely no interest in. She is more into current trends. Reporting on the Sunnyvale Hawks hockey team is completely out of her wheelhouse. Especially when her focus has to be on Tripp Stevens, the Hawks star player and major douche. Their first encounter garners a less than stellar web post that gets both Tripp and Sadie in hot water. They have to fix this and fix it fast or both of their careers will suffer.
Tripp was instantly attracted to Sadie but knew he needed to stay away. He needed her to write articles that helped his image. He had no choice. He had to spend time with her to get her to drop her attitude towards him. Spending time together gets them noticed by the wrong people. Trip ends up helping Sadie out of some sticky situations and she, in turn, writes articles that portray him in a different light.
After Sadie is forced to go to an away game with the team, things heat up between her and Tripp. The attraction is no longer deniable. They burned up the sheets in that hotel and returned as a couple. Unfortunately, they had several people trying to tear them down and apart. Will their love be strong enough to endure the criticism? I sure hope so. I liked them as a couple. This book is the definition of enemies to lovers. M.A. Lee got it right.
OMG . What an emotional rollercoaster that sucks you right in from the very first page and does not let go . I started reading Puck Me late last night and to say I did not get any sleep would definitely be an understatement. When we first meet Sadie - it appears as if she has everything she could ever want in life . She comes from a wealthy family , has a future ahead of her as a lawyer ( but that’s not the dream she has for her self ; that’s her parents dream . What Sydney wants is to become a journalist. When the opportunity arises for her move away and attend Sunnyvale University Sydney grabs hold and does not let go - what Sydney never expected was Tripp Stevens - star of the hockey team and a womanizer - at least that’s how he first appears. But there is so much more to trip then meets the eye . Because underneath the playboy every one sees is a guy who has worked his but off to get the life he has always dreamed of . Two people who seam like total opposites actually end up being perfect together. The angst , the humor , the witty banter , the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments, the love ,the passion, the family and friendships. Puck Me is a emotional rollercoaster that will grab onto all your emotions in ways you won’t even expect . You’ll smile , you’ll laugh you’ll cry and you’ll root so freaking hard
Sadie is in college. She's a journalist for her collages local paper. She's asked to write an article about their college teams' ice hockey star player Tripp. She knows nothing about ice hockey, but she's herd plenty and has seen plenty of bad press about Tripp
Tripp has a reputation, and it ain't good. He's the team play boy with the puck bunnies and also has a lot of bad press.
Sadie is now assigned to the Hawks as there good press journalist to help get tripps name outta the mud.
But their chemistry is undeniable and fast-moving. Sadie brings out the good in Tripp, but being in college spells for a lot of drama and gossip, despite there feelings for each other, there's always others who are gunning to rip it all apart.
This was a good read, I don't usually do high school/college reads as it's just too much petty drama for me. But this book was quite good, fast paced, great banter between FMC & MMC. Tripp changed so much, and I'm glad he fought for what and who he wanted. He never gave up on Sadie or their relationship. He proved time and time again that she was it for him. It's a very slowburn instalove kinda story.
Sadie has gone against everything her parents want her to do to forge out her own life and career. She has moved away from her family and friends to go to a college in California to study journalism. While studying she also works at the college newspaper and generally doesn't have a lot of free time. When her boss insists that she helps the hockey team, Tripp Stevens in particular, to improve their reputation, Sadie isn't happy. She's not a sports fan anyway, but Tripp is going to be a lot of work that she just doesn't want to take on.
The story tells us that not everything is always as it seems, and how social media can both elevate and ruin someone's reputation in the blink of an eye. Tripp is quite taken by Sadie as she is nothing like all the girls who throw themselves at him, and is much more challenging. A fab story all round with two great lead characters. Sadie's fiery nature and Tripp's surprising softer side are lovely to read. Will they ever meet in the middle, and can they fight the social media trying to keep them apart? You will need to read it to find out!
Puck Me is the first book in the Puck Me Series. This is a coming of age romance between Sadie and Tripp. They meet when she is assigned to write a rehab piece on his reputation. Tripp is a top hockey player on the college team, getting a full ride scholarship. He knew the playing hockey was his ticket to getting a better life and he has worked hard to get where his is now. Sadie grew up with wealth and privilege. But she wants to make her own way as a journalist, and not follow her parents into the law. Initially Sadie and Tripp do more than clash, but the sparks are still flying even if undercover. As they spend time together things start to thaw and feelings are caught. But can two opposites have a future together as their lives are just starting?
This is my first book by this author & what drew me to it to begin with was the enemies to lover's trope & mainly that it's a sports romance novel - my absolute favourite type of romance novel to read. Even though Tripp & Sadie's story is quite a quick read, it is a complete novel that I really enjoyed. The way they were together, snarking at each other was outstanding. Even though they were at each other's throats, you could feel the attraction simmering away. They didn't act on it right away, which had me all sorts of beside myself wanting to yell at my kindle to tell them to hurry up, and also on the flip side of the coin happy that they waited until they were both sure that this is what they wanted. But by the end of it, it was written exactly how it should have been, and I finished it with a smile on my face and eagerly wanting to read book 2.
On Sunnyvale campus, Tripp, the playboy hockey star, becomes the center of attention – both hated and wanted. Sadie, a journalism student, is forced to clean up Tripp's image through her articles. Initially not a fan, Sadie writes a critical piece, but her editor demands better stories, pushing her to spend more time with Tripp.
As they get to know each other, Tripp reveals a side beyond the playboy persona, becoming protective of Sadie saving her from what could have been a devastating situation. Sparks fly between them, but their relationship isn't all smooth sailing. Can Sadie overcome her doubts about Tripp's past, or is the playboy image too much for her to handle? Despite some dialogue feeling a bit unrealistic for college students, the book offers enjoyable banter and a peek into the world of the Sunnyvale Hawk's hockey team.
Puck Me by MA Lee is a quick and easy read centered around the Sunnyvale Hawks, a hockey team at Sunnyvale University in California. This is a mildly spicy college hockey romance. Sadie is a journalism student tasked with boosting the PR image of the bad boy hockey star, Tripp. She is reluctant to take this job at first, but once she does, she finds herself falling for Tripp.
This book was entertaining and introduces us to several characters that will most likely appear in future books in this series. It was a good story, but I really felt it was very rushed at the end. The story was just starting to really get interesting and then it ended, so I hope going forward we get a little more substance to the stories. Overall a good book with a lot of promise in the series to come.
Journalism student and Reporter - Sadie (FMC) and Ice Hockey Player - Tripp couldn't be more polar opposites. Tripp is a cocky golden boy of Sunnyvale University but unfortunately the press seem to hate him and only publicize his faults. Things don't go much better when the reporter - Sadie is given an assignment to follow the team and write stories that make his image better. Only they cant stand each other. Lots of witty banter, flirting and sexual tension follow on from that.
Ive read a lot of school bully books recently so it was nice to read a book that wasn't focused on that. I really liked the relationship Sadie and Tripp had. A great read.
When Tripp is needing a positive PR spin for his reputation his coach hires the school journalism department. Sadie is the best writer they have but she has no interest in hockey or jocks. What starts off as a heated exchange, ends with a love between two people not expecting to fall. This was an interesting story with some emotional moments leading to various drawbacks along the way. An epilogue a few years later would have been a great addition.

Puck Me is a fiery, tension-filled enemies-to-lovers college hockey romance packed with witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and a heroine who refuses to fall for the campus heartthrob. Tripp Stevens is the star of the university hockey team, desperate to change his reputation from a cocky jock to a serious athlete. Sadie Allen is the no-nonsense journalist determined to land her dream internship—without getting caught up in Tripp’s orbit. But when their paths keep colliding and sparks fly, she realizes resisting him might not be as easy as she thought. What starts as rivalry soon turns into something deeper, making for a fun, swoon-worthy read.
Tropes & Themes Enemies to Lovers – The tension and banter between Tripp and Sadie are top-tier. College Sports Romance – A mix of competitive drive and campus drama adds excitement. Journalist x Athlete – A fun twist with the media versus player dynamic. Forced Proximity – Their constant run-ins only fuel the attraction. Sassy, Strong-Willed Heroine – Sadie isn’t one to back down, making her and Tripp’s dynamic even more fun. Spice Level 🔥🔥🔥 The tension is strong, and when things heat up, it’s well worth the wait!
This is the first in a new sports romance, and this is hockey star Tripp, and Sadie, who is studying journalist’s story. This is an enjoyable story which is a quick read, with enemies / lovers, family, friendships, emotions, challenges, redemption, and love, which leads to an intriguing page tuner. The only downside in my opinion, is that the story feels a tad rushed in places. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a contemporary hockey romance. The story follows the journey of an enemies to lovers relationship. The characters were well written. The emotions portrayed in the story were strong. Overall this story is a great spicy enemies to lovers contemporary hockey romance with a touch of spicy scenes.
What a realistic take on the struggles of a sports career. The need to balance life , career, and reputation. Finding the happy place you don't know is missing. Also following your heart doing what u feel driven to do. Solid story line kept my interest all the way. The characters grew through out slowly revealing them at the heart of it. This was a great read I can't wait to read the next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Tripp and Sadie didn't get along at first but time spent together getting to know each other changes that. I like how protective Tripp is of Sadie and how he doesn't let her break up with him when pressured. It was nice how the one trying to break them up is put in her place.
Nothing like a good enemies to lovers where the main male character does everything in his power to be everything his partner needs him to be. Seeing Tripp go from being an egotistical player to falling in love with Sadie and fighting to be with her gave me butterflies. A sweet hockey romance with a kick. Good spice and good plot.
I received an ARC of puck me Collage Hockey romance Trip is in need of good PR Sadie is the collage reporter, the banter and chemistry between Sadie and trip was amazing, I couldn’t help but fall in love with trip. They have there issues like most couples going through collage with social media being a cause for issues, but together they work through it. HEA
This is a very cute book of a journalist that hates sports and a hockey player who is always in trouble. But now Sadie has to help Trapp's reputation and write bout him they fall for each other. This book was a cute book. I can't wait to read book 2.
She is in college and she's a journalist major. She is suppose to help to clean up his reputation. They seemed to clock and build their relationship with each other. He seems different around her. He steps in when it seems that she can't handle a situation it was a good read can't wait for more
I really enjoyed the characters in this book and loved seeing Tripp and Sadie grow together. Jessica is an annoying character, but her behaviors help Tripp and Sadie get stronger. Very good book.
Started out strong and then it got to the point I was dreading to read it. I couldn't finish it. Not my normal kind of read, but could be for someone else who isn't into DR
I’d give this a 2.5 review. It’s alright but a bit cheesy, and it just seems like there are gaps in the story. I think it would have been a solid 3 stars if it were longer and had more gradual character growth.
This was a decent book I couldn’t really get into the characters but the story was good More than likely I was just in the wrong headspace But I finished it I liked it I’ll read another book by this author
I love an enemies to lovers and when he is the grumpy one 😍😍 I couldn't stop reading it!! I need more of these books. Everyone should read this book but read the triggers before.
