Your pack disowned you after they found out your child can turned black?!? 🤨🤨 idk gurl cuz it might be a racial thing.
The trope seems be a lot similar to the first one : Single dad ✅ Omega friends ✅ Big and rich alpha✅ Infuriating butler✅ ( butler's brother from the first book) Magical cart✅ Mc lost money because of scam✅
It's just so fucking lazy
The third act always seem so dramatic like telenovela dramatic, it's corny... And sometimes it felt too crowded I just wished the story focuses more on the main characters and I wished the side characters were just doing a cameo.
Well, this one was cute and so much better than book one! Onyx and Liem were adorable, and the chemistry and steam between them was delicious. I mainly read this because of the tropes (and kinks!! Breeding, lactation, double knots? yes please) but like I've said, I prefer Anna Wineheart when there's angst involved; I'm not much of pure fluff, silly, light-hearted romance girlie nowadays, and although there's a fair bit of emotions and feels, and a light underlying plot, it wasn't enough to keep my interest. BUT like I said, this was cute and I liked it, and I liked that the romance felt much more realistic than book one, and the characters were so much more well-rounded; plus, Alfie was adorable.
Okay, so now I know we're not really getting the world building in this series, I found myself appreciating the complete chaos of this book much more.
I really liked Onyx, while Liem's somewhat martyr-ish tendencies grated for a while. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of the 'I'm not worthy' trope in any sub-genre.
Alfie, their demon/wolf cub was a sweetie, though, and he exuded personality even while just a baby.
We get introduced to more of Onyx's friends who make up their somewhat different "pack" who I'm sure we'll be getting mote stories about at some point
And!!!
The baby kidnapping plot actually rears its head again, still with no actual further information, though, just another attempt to snatch the kid of another guy Liem befriends at the grocery store he works at.
I definitely found the story flowed more logically in this instalment, and I'm intrigued by the setting and the extra people who've just shown up.
Ah. This is starting to feel a little formula. Not sure about Liem hiding Alfie's identity, I'm surprised Onyx took so long to click, the answer was pretty much thrown at him. The shopping cart was entertaining. I adore the butlers, Hudson is just as troublesome to his master as Henry. I hope there are more brothers. Money issues, shadowy bad guys, meeting the parents. More friends introduced this time, with Joey being added to the trio baby group. Was gutted Liem's dads weren't around. I'm curious about the vamp. Still fun and fast paced.

I loved Anna Wineheart’s second book from the “Closet Baby Chronicles”. This book is about a relationship between a demon, Onyx, a wolf shifter, Liem, and their adorable baby Alfie.
Onyx and Liem had one fabulous night together in bed that changed both their lives forever. Liem has never felt safe after his ordeal with his pack members disowned him after they killed his fathers, and wanted to kill his baby. But that night he spent with Onyx made an impression of safety he hadn’t felt since the ordeal with his pack.
Onyx isn’t a demon that falls in love with anyone, but Liem turns out to be different than any other person he’s been with. Liem never blinked an eye when Onyx let down his glamour and showed him his true nature; he wasn’t afraid of Onyx.
Liem left him after that one night together, but he held a secret from Onyx for months about having the demon’s baby. As always, Anna Wineheart spins a wonderful story with the two dads getting back together, a group of trusted friends, and kidnappers after their babies.
Onyx and Liem find their HEA and a new addition to their family, but reading about how they came together and the threats to their lives you wouldn’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
edit: Jan. 17, 2024 I looked past a few things in this book that I shouldn't have, thinking that they were one-off instances. After seeing it happen again in the next 2 books, I had to come back to edit this review and my initial rating. I get that these are mythical beings and whatever, but the way Wineheart talks about different races/skin colors is just off. She's trying too hard to make it seem casual that it ends up drawing more attention to how awkward she is about writing about diverse characters. See my highlights on book 4.
initial review: Same format as the first book- but let's be honest, we're not reading this series for the plot. Unless by "plot" we mean a 6 foot "giant/mountain of a man" with a third leg and inhuman stamina. No complaints here
I am enjoying this new series so much and book 2 was as good as book 1 (how to hide your baby dragon). In How to hide your wolf cub we get Liem who is a wolf shifter and Onyx who is a demon. They were together a couple of nights ten months ago but then Liem ran away. during their encounter Liem went into heat and got pregnant so he now has a baby who he is trying to keep safe and hidden from Onyx as he is afraid Onyx will get mad and take Alfie (baby) away. However, someone is trying to kidnap special babies and Alfie and Liem are in danger, so of course Onyx volunteers to protect Liem and try to win him back. If you are looking for a book that has growly protective alphas and shy under the weather omegas craving for love and protection this is your next series! Tags: mpreg, hurt-comfort, breeding, too big/wont fit, size difference, shifters
Mpreg with a mixed species mating, demon and wolf shifter. Cute characters, i liked big, bad (caring and sweet) Onyx, Liem was kind and such a good dad. Alfie and his adorableness and Hudson's antics had me cracking up. Lots of spice. Yaeger and Elson make an appearance as well. You don't need to read the first book in the series to enjoy this one.
Even though this is turning out to be an adorable (full of fluff) series... this one just had way too many sexy times! I know, I can't believe that I am saying that, but it is true... 😭
While I feel, that the books in this series are going to continue with a similar format, I can appreciate the different characteristics of each story! Onyx was determined to help Liem build up the self-esteem that he needed to accept his worth, and let's just say that he succeeded!
I wish we had about 50 more pages to give us a more detailed back story for Liem, but overall this story read fast and renewed my faith in mankind, regardless of species! LOL!!!
I am enjoying this series but there was way too much sex ( all the same sort of sex) and too much dirty talking for my liking. However, I di enjoy the story and Liem getting his happy ending. We were introduced to another dad struggling to bring up his baby, so hopefully Joey will get his happy ending.
My 2024 Reading Challenge for the month of February will be Beat The Backlog work (digital and print books). This includes-- You know what? Fuck it. My dog died and then I got the flu. This month has fucking sucked. I'm reading what I want right now, because I might make me happy. Here's Anna Winheart's "How To Hide Your Wolf Cub." It's the second novel in her Closet Baby Chronicles series. ["Liem has a few secrets. The second-biggest one? He has a baby.
A baby who's a secret from his other dad. A baby who's being targeted by shadowy outside forces because... well, Liem slept with someone he wasn't supposed to. And now he's exiled from his pack, his life and baby jinxed.
Worse, his baby's daddy has come knocking on his door. Onyx is big, strong and forbidden, stupidly handsome, and he's claiming to be Liem's bodyguard.
Liem knows better than to refuse protection. But how long can his secrets stay hidden before the truth blows up between them? Especially when Onyx oozes temptation from every part of his body, and there's no space in Liem's tiny apartment to avoid him. His tantalizing scent. His dark eyes that see too much.
Then there's the matter of Liem's biggest secret..."]
This series is more crack. Spicy as hell crack with a dirty mouth, but soooo good. It’s just like…addicting. The couples, the histories, the mystery, the danger, the secrets the dates love, the babies, the mpreg. All of it is so good!!
I forgot this was coming out until it was in my kindle library. Some reason thought was supposed to be February release.
Liem has a wolf shifter child that's rare because he's also a demon shifter. Liem is trying to hid Alfie because he's rare and there are people after the rare children like him. He's also scared that when his demon shifting dad finds out he might take him. He also is struggling to get himself and Alfie fed plus get rid of the slight problem that Alfie has gotten.
Then on the way out the door Onyx, who's Alfie's other dad shows up at his door. It's been 10 months since they were together and created Alfie, but he still wants him. Onyx is there to protect them since someone is trying to take the rare babies. Onyx is also friends with Yaeger who's with Elson, Liem's friend from book one.
I loved their banner and the size difference as well. There is plenty of sex between them and another child on the way as well after Liem goes into heat again. He's also worried because the mating bonds didn't take like he thought it would. It was why he fled months back after their one night together even though he wanted Onyx with him.
I am so happy that Onyx is there with them and that he got revenge for what Liem's former pack did to Liem's dads. They should have suffered longer I thought. We also see the other friends of theirs. Lots of knotting and I was glad that Liem realized he wasn't going to be tossed out when Onyx realized that Alfie's was his.
Excellent book and I can't wait for book three when we finally get to see what is up with their vampire friend being so weak and frail.
well this book was kinda ridiculous😆 i mean that title/cover does suggest that it's a lighthearted book which is totally what i expected & what this delivered with some extra action💥✨
some noteworthy things that were fun(ny): ⤷ each chapter had a title which i really loved as this seems rare (or at least in the books i usually read, sadly) but also the chapter titles were hilarious as well! ⤷ magical inanimate objects that had their own personalities - especially the shopping cart that befriended one of the MCs!🤭 ⤷ Onyx - i think i loved pretty much everything about him, & yes i reallyyy loved his monstrous traits ofc🔥 but i also loved his personality, how he interacted with others, & how he treated Liem with respect & how very protective he was of him ⤷ Onyx's butler, his whole personality & his relationship with Onyx were fun plus i really loved how he called Onyx "Damon Master Sir" 💀 ⤷ how Liem tried to hide his baby's "demon" traits from Onyx..🤭💀
so yeh, overall it was a fun read with some danger lurking bc of some baby kidnapper villians.. (which plotline didn't really seemed to be resolved, tho there's a HEA/HFN ending here, i suspect that storyline would continue in the next book). honestly a lot happened in this book, kinda gave me chaotic vibes but ig i was here for the ride🎢🛒
This is another entertaining book in the Closet Baby Chronicles. This time, Liem is the one hiding a pregnancy and it's from Onyx, the large demon who makes for a very good bodyguard/Intimidator. Liem has been taught to believe he's not good enough for anyone by his old pack and has kept the baby a secret for months. Now, just like in book one, someone is after Liem and his baby and so Onyx steps in to keep them both safe. Of course, being in close, confined spaces has their attraction flaring to life and makes it extremely hard, pun totally intended, to stay away from each other. I really like how the story develops between the two shifters. Onyx may be a strong, alpha demon but he never pressures Liem, allowing him to make choices, especially concerning baby Alfie. He only steps in to overrule when there is an immediate concern for safety. There is a good balance between their relationship and the drama that comes towards the end as those in search of rare dual species babies come hunting and Onyx is out to avenge the death of Liem's parents. Cute, hot, fun and action scenes all mix to give readers a great story with some interaction with other alpha and omega characters that will hopefully be getting their own stories soon, and Hudson is a laugh with his constant teasing of Onyx, the seemingly big, bad demon who is truly as sweet as anything to those who matter. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Liem and Onyx had lots of fun but Liem ran and when the results of what he did come to term he loses everything. Now he is living on his own and barely scraping by. What can Liem do when Onyx shows up at his door claiming he is there to protect Liem and his baby? I enjoyed Onyx and Liem’s story. It is a cute and sexy read. The two are good together and it was nice to see the way their relationship grew and deepened. Onyx is a sweetheart and ready to protect and help those that need it. I loved seeing Liem grow more self- assured as he spent more time with Onyx. The love that they have for each other and as a family shines throughout the book. Their journey moves at a good pace and is full of emotions. Not only did I like the main characters but the supporting ones made an impression as well. I was quickly pulled in to their story and engaged to the end. I am eager to see what comes next in this world.
Cute fated mates, secret baby romance. Really enjoyed this addition to this great new series! I love how protective and sweet Onyx is toward Liem and Alfie. The big bad demon is a wonderful father and mate. Liem is very insecure and struggling hard to protect his baby son after having gone through a heartbreaking ordeal. I loved every moment of Onyx being there for him and making him feel cared for and safe. I liked the mix of sweet and sexy moments with the more suspenseful ones as the MCs and their friends try to protect Alfie and other mixed-breed babies from the unknown criminal organization that’s kidnapping them. To say nothing of other dangers, closer to home, or pack rather. There’s a wonderful cast of secondary characters, and I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.
This time it's Liem who gets romanced. He's been hiding out after he ran from his pack when baby Alfie was born. He's exhausted and broke and lonely. Unfortunately when Yaeger, Elson's mate, is aware that Liem has an unusual baby so he's at risk, he sends Demon Onyx to guard him and Alfie. Onyx - the one night stand and unknown father to the demon/wolf cub of Liem's. It takes him a while to find out but even before that he's considerate, caring, and sexy. Amidst the threats we have new daddy Joey becoming friends, and we meet Onyx's crew again including Telos who is hilarious. I really hope he goes through with his undercover plan in book four. Meanwhile, there's danger, steam, laughter, self esteem issues and found family. Good fun.
This is a nice addition to the Closet Baby Chronicles series. Alfie, the half wolf shifter, half demon, baby boy, is funny and adorable. His parents aren't too bad either! Onyx and Liem can't keep their hands off each other, and they also can't stop their deep feelings. I love how Liem, despite his lack of confidence, can bring Onxy to his knees. The overarching storyline from the first book continues here, with bad guys stalking and kidnapping special shifter babies, though there isn't as much focus on that this time around. I enjoyed the sexy romance here, and I look forward to getting closer to solving the mystery of the kidnappers in the next book. I'm loving this series.
OMG, what a fantastic book! The perfect sequel in this series. A wolf cub that sometimes shows his demon side. A wolf and a demon who can't get enough of each other. A sarcastic butler with lots of good stories. And knotting scenes that are so hot, but also embarrassing. The danger comes from several fronts. Only one is totally resolved. The rest should be addressed in the next book. But this book had me enthralled from the first pages. You will simply love this story complete with an adorable baby. You simply must get this book now!
Loved the first book in this series and was looking forward to this book, I pre-ordered last summer. The story is okay but it just got so repetitive with Liem’s self esteem issues and not feeling worthy or loveable and scared to tell Onyx he loved him. Then every scene with heat was the same. Onyx has a huge cock and Liem can take it. Also, several times Liem’s name was spelled Liam, very disconcerting. Won’t be ordering the third book! It’s sad, not sure why the first book was so good and then this mess of a book, maybe Anna Wineheart is an alias for multiple authors.
I loved How to Hide Your Wolf Cub by Anna Wineheart. It's the second book in the Closet Baby Chronicles. I loved Liem and Onyx's story. I loved that Onyx ends up being Liem and Alfie's bodyguard and I loved how hard Liem tries to hide that Alfie is Onyx's son, thinking that Onyx might take him away from him. I loved that Onyx made friends with a shopping cart and ended up naming it Cuddly Pumpkin since that was what Liem wanted to call him. I loved how Liem helped Joey buy groceries and how he sympathized with him. I can't wait to see who the next book is going to be about.
I enjoyed this story. At first it seemed pretty similar to the first book so I was having a harder time getting into it. I did like that it did end up being different enough in the end. Wish we had a couple more answers by now about the bad guys. I'm not sure how many books the author has planned for this series but I'm thinking maybe the bad guy problem is going to be really stretched out so it can be in all the books. Anyway, I really enjoyed Onyx and Liem was ok. I wish he had more confidence and then maybe he would have never initially left Onyx. Alfie and Hudson were great side characters too, even though Alfie is just a baby.
I connected more emotionally with Liem and Onyx in this book compared to the MCs in book one. Their characters felt more developed. The pace is still fast, and the conflict still easily solved, but the deeper emotions felt by Liem and Onyx made this novella feel like a fully developed story.
I enjoyed the smut just as much as the first book. However, the walking around, and in front of people, while knotted was kind of strange. The last time they do that, they're not even knotted, so not sure why it was necessary.
I'm looking forward to the next book. These are great quick reads and palette cleansers, or to get you out of a slump.
4 adorable, steamy hot stars!! ❤️ ❤️ Never thought I would love a book with such a mix of tropes, Omegaverse, shifter, mPreg, paranormal.. but the overall result was a sweet love story of finding one's soulmate and life partner; even if you are a wolf-shifter and your baby-daddy is a demon. 😈. I loved the side characters too, Hudson the butler, Alfie the baby and Cuddly Pumpkin the cart.. 😳🤪 I'm loving this series so far and looking forward to the next one.. Highly recommended to everyone who loved How to hide your dragon baby 👍👍
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
I like this story because it shows the lengths that Onyx is willing to go in order to take care of Liem and his baby, Alfie, even when he doesn’t know that the child is his. I also like the friends that stand together for each other and the love that each shows for their mate. The help is hilarious and the threat to the babies makes one cheer for the protectors. A HAWT reading.
I didn't like this book as much as the first in the series. I don't usually enjoy second chance romances anyway, and I don't think this one was done particularly well. I didn't believe the wolf shifter's explanation for why he previously hid from the other MC. I also didn't like how the reader wasn't shown any of the big final fight. We see the perspective of the worried partner at home, but none of the action. That felt lazy. I don't think I'll rush to pick up the next book in this series.
So so brilliant. I loved Onyx! He was super sweet and fierce and a great big marshmallow. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his mate Liem, even when Liem didn't think he was worth it. As big and scary as Onyx was, he was a pushover in proving his worthiness as a mate. I look forward to reading the next story by this brilliant author, Anna Wineheart.
Opposites attract??? Onyx battles for Liem's affections and a place by his side for life, then he battles pure evil that has designs on his baby. Onyx is a demon with a huge heart for those he loves. Can Onyx win the biggest battle of his life, or will he lose his future and his children??? This was a bit intense and had me crossing fingers and toes for a good outcome for Onyx and Liem!!!! The magical shopping cart is always a sweet bonus. Lol.
Liem is living hand to mouth and trying his best to keep his baby safe and hidden. When a threat to his baby brings the one man whom he cannot forget to his door, truths will be revealed and passion will be ignited.
An entertaining read that has an overlapping story arc and characters from the first book in this series. Liem and Onyx were perfect for each other and I loved the supporting characters and the way the enriched the story. Definitely looking forward to more in this series.
This started off really well, and I loved Liem trying to conceal Alfie's parentage from Onyx. I enjoyed Hudson, the butler, and Cuddly Pumpkin, the almost sentient shopping cart (I know, a real hoot!!). The thing I found distracting? All the sex. It was great to begin with, and maybe it's my age, but it became too much, especially when they get frisky when Liem is in active labor. Seriously??
