Lots of drama!
Ivy has married one of the male clients she had when working as an escort, but she’s not happy being the bored housewife after he moved them out to suburbia, and something calls her back to escorting but specifically for female clients, because she is done denying who she really is. When things get complicated with a first time client, things start spiralling out her control, but it might just be what she needed to get the restart to her life she desires.
Denial was full of plot twists, unexpected moments, and just life happening in that way it has a habit of doing. At no point was Ivy in control of her life, even if she felt she might be, which is completely realistic and I loved that. She just had to deal with whatever ended up coming her way the best way she knew how. She was flawed, made mistakes, tried to fix things, and followed her heart and her feelings; she was human and just wanting to get by, survive and live her life the best she could. It was such a rollercoaster of a story but had me hooked from the very beginning.
She had difficult relationships and situations to navigate, but I admired Ivy in being willing to start over again when what she thought she wanted, or what she had wanted at the time was no longer working. So many people stay in situations, and she did put in effort and try, but with some gentle encouragement from the right people appearing in her path or coming in and out of her life, she was brave in accepting something wasn’t working anymore and taking a chance on starting all over again to try and find what fate had in store for her next.
An enjoyable and dramatic story about a journey through life from a unique perspective. Really enjoyed the story.
