Meesha Kingston thought her class reunion set on a Caribbean cruise would be the perfect getaway. Then the threatening calls began. Her violent ex, who nearly took her life, is back and he won’t be ignored. But Meesha refuses to alter her plans or live in fear anymore.
After suffering the loss of someone close to him, Sawyer James looks for opportunities to help people whenever he can. When his friend, and fellow Guardian Group team member, asks him to protect his sister-in-law, Sawyer agrees without hesitation—until he meets Meesha. The undeniable attraction between them causes less-than-professional thoughts swirling through his head.
Temptation escalates when Meesha admits she told her high school nemesis that she’s dating someone. Before Sawyer knows it, he’s offering to pose as her boyfriend on a romantic cruise ship for Meesha’s reunion. Will both of their troubled pasts prove too big an obstacle to overcome? Or can love truly conquer all?
I enjoyed this one. I don't read a whole lot of mystery, but every once in a while I just get in the mood for one. I liked the characters and the cruise setting was fun. I thought things moved a long well, the ending felt a little rushed to me, but overall it was a nice read to pass the evening. This was my first bool by Ms. Livingston and I look forward to reading more of her books now.
Content Rated PG+ Clean romance, kissing. No language, but some violence. Stalking and past abuse talked about. Kidnapping, and fighting. Nothing overly graphic.
Meesha is Kayleigh's baby sister. When they go dress shopping for a cruise Meesha is going on her ex calls. He is supposed to be banned from traveling because he lives in Paris. Meesha also has a restraining order out on him. She refuses to give up on the cruise because she planned practically the whole trip. It's her classmates ten year reunion. Tru asks Sawyer to go with her & keep her safe. They pretend to be boyfriend & girlfriend because Meesha had lied to her classmate because she was jealous. Sawyer agreed. However, when Meesha kissed him for "practice" it was the best kiss either of them had ever had. Meesha comes from a good sized family that is very close. When Noel (the ex) & Meesha first started going out he was kind & sweet. Over time he changed. When she tried to leave him he insisted she meet his parents. Because Meesha is sweet, kind, & forgiving she caved & went. Joel's parents loved her. When she was around he got the love & attention that he was begging for. Without her they ignored him. He started beating her. One night he broke down her door & he attacked her. If the neighbor hadn't called the police she would have died. She woke up in the hospital. And she didn't leave for the US until the bruises around her neck had healed. She didn't want her family to know.
Sawyer had a horrible childhood. His parents were drug addicts. They never had shoes unless they were handed down. They never had food in the house. All they cared about was getting high. To escape that life Sawyer joined the Army. He didn't have many friends until he & another guy got into a scuffle. A guy named Chris who was in his unit. Gunfire broke out the insurgents were moving towards them. Chris & Sawyer took up shelter behind a vehicle. When Sawyer turned & shot on instinct he realized it was Chris he shot. Sawyer had never forgiven himself. And he had resigned himself to be single forever because no one would love a murderer.
Fast forward to the cruise. Mia & Ryder did facial recognition scans on everyone on that ship. There was no sign of Noel. They got a room with two large bedrooms & A living room. Shortly after arriving they got ready for their first meeting with everyone. Meesha had to be there early to decorate. Her classmate didn't show to help out. Sawyer ended up helping & they were done in no time. When her classmate Anna finally arrived she brought her boyfriend with her. The minute Meesha's hand touched Tim's she got this cold chill down her spine & she felt sick. She didn't like him right off the bat. He kept staring at her. The next day Anna apologized for the way she had acted in high school & during planning the trip. She explained she had a condition that happened when she got stressed. They decided to be friends. Which meant hanging around Tim too. Throughout the trip he would say or do small things Noel used to. However, Meesha would write it off. They were attacked twice. Meesha was kidnapped twice. And during all this Meesha leaned on Sawyer. And Meesha convinced Sawyer that he wasn't responsible for what happened. And she convinced him that Chris would be mad that Sawyer was wasting the gift of life Chris gave him.
This book is wonderful and laden with suspense. Meesha has worked hard planning her class reunion on a Caribbean cruise. She is excited but has told the others she is bringing a serious boyfriend that she definitely does not have. Her last boyfriend was a stalker and abusive so she hasn’t had the desire to have another until now. Meesha begins to get threatening calls. Her sister enlists the help of her husband’s security team to come to their aide. Sawyer is selected and suggests he accompany her on the cruise and pose as her boyfriend. The question is whether or not he will be able to keep her safe from the danger they encounter along the way. Suggest you read the book to find the answer.
The Guardian group’s Sawyer is handsome, strong and haunted by his past. Meesha, the sister of a Guardian group employee, is haunted by her own past.
The immediate physical attraction these two feel for one another is supplemented with real knowledge of the other’s character as they experience fun times on a cruise interspersed with dangerous encounters that seem random, until it becomes obvious that randomness has nothing to do with it.
I enjoyed Sawyer’s and Meesha’s romance and the care they took of one another.
The ex-boyfriend that Sawyer is protecting Meesha from is a true villain, and is truly unhinged.
A romantic read and sometimes an intense one—I loved it!
An Army vet falls in love with his best friend sister-in-law .
Loved being back with the guys from Guardian Group Security. Sawyer and Meesha story was a love at first sight. It was exciting from start to finish. Sawyer became her hero protector and lover all in one. He believed in her when she didn't believe in her self. She loved even after what he did in the military. Tru and Kayleigh so wanted them to be together. Her ex Noel was a real piece of work he destroyed two women. Hope Anna ends up finding someone. Looking forward to Walker story I still have others to read in the original Guardian group guys. So happy for Truman and Kayleigh starting a family. Meesha and Kayleigh got two great guys. Hope their sister Autum has some one nice too.
What a great romantic suspense. I liked everything about this book. My heart was pounding at times and I was holding my breath at other times. The chemistry between Meesha and her bodyguard, Swayer, was off the charts from the first moment they met and continued as he agreed to be her fake boyfriend on a cruise for her tenth high school reunion. The author kept me guessing what was going to happen and when it would happen which made the story so interesting and fun to read. I could not put the book down until all the tiny pieces of the puzzle came together. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I love the Guardian Group Security series. There is only one problem and that is waiting for the next book. I’m going to admit I was having heart palpitations over Bree Livingston’s description of Sawyer. Wow, just Wow. Of course, that is true of all the employees of Guardian Group. I was ready to go on the cruise with him. The author has again given us a story with romance, humor, mystery, danger and a few twists and surprises.
Romance, sweet, contemporary, suspense Meesha and Sawyer’s story was an assignment for Sawyer to keep Meesha safe on a reunion cruise. Events pull them together as they pretend to be a couple, but their immediate attraction and chemistry upon meeting builds the pretend into something so much more as they try to keep her safe from her past and the present danger. Fun suspense read with a fun setting. More of a 3.5 for me as a reader, but rounded up.
This book is just as good as all the other Bree Livingston books that I have read and I've read many! I love the mystery in this and I love Sawyer. This whole series is really, really good. I would recommend it to anyone who likes some romance and some mystery. I love the men who work for the Guardian Group Security. They care about keeping people safe.
Meesha arranged for a cruise for her class's 10 yr reunion but her stalking ex has resurfaced and no one wants her to go. Enter Guardian Security, especially Sawyer, and things begin to get really interesting! Can Meesha hope that Sawyer's plan will work even though danger is running around rampant? Can Sawyer get out of his own way with life and Meesha?
I enjoyed this book. The actions of the characters made me gasp, laugh and cheer. The story gives a glimpse into what childhood abuse or neglect can do to one person while making another be better. Trauma is bad but can be overcome if you open yourself. This story has some good life advice while being entertaining. Enjoy
This was a great romantic suspense. Sawyer is a wonderful yet broken hero. I loved seeing him come to life again. Meesha is a lot stronger than she realizes. These two had so much chemistry. I really enjoyed their story. There was just the right amount of suspense for this clean romance.
Meesha and Sawyer meet because Meesha's ex comes back stealing her and Sawyer is to be her boyfriend of her High School Reunion Cruise to protect her. Great story, wonderful characters and great to see the others from Guardian Group Security!
Definitely needs a dose of editing. While I absolutely appreciate a clean book and author, it does leave a sour taste in my mouth to see so many errors…wrong words, inconsistent timeline, wrong name used a couple of times.
This book was amazing and I'm going to read the first book I missed. The storyline kept you wanting to see what happens next. Very well thought out ending. Enjoy
