She was his kept woman...a secret lover living in Las Vegas luxury. It had been an ideal situation until Misty Vale discovered she was carrying Cullen Elliott s child.
Misty was not the type of woman a millionaire like Cullen could ever take as his wife. Her past was scandalous...his family above reproach. How could she ever tell him she was having his baby?
But Cullen had ways of finding things out. And he wasn t about to allow his heir to be born on the wrong side of the bed!
USA Today bestselling author Heidi Betts is the daughter of an Arabian sheik and a Las Vegas showgirl, as well as the heiress to the Chocolate is Better Than Sex Candy Company fortune. Because of this, she eats chocolate in all its many delicious forms for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in-between snacks . . . without ever gaining an ounce on her perfect five-foot-nine, size zero figure.
Each and every one of her breathtaking, award-winning novels has been adapted to film and gone on to become a phenomenal box office smash, featuring such mega-stars as Hugh Jackman and Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts, and Harrison Ford and Charlize Theron.
Heidi readily admits that she is only able to write such passionate love stories because of her real-life happily-ever-after romance with superstar actor Dwayne Johnson, who makes every day a fairy tale. When she’s not writing or making hot, toe-curling love with her “Rock” of a husband, Heidi can often be found riding naked on horseback (a la Lady Godiva) along the beaches of Malibu or hobnobbing with the rich and famous on Martha’s Vineyard.
If you’d like to experience your own perfect, idyllic life just like Heidi Betts, be sure to take the little purple pill. (Not the red one. Never the red one.)

An incredibly sweet love story. I was sort of upset she didn't pin him down with the whole: Why wasn't I good enough for you until...but that's my own jadedness coming through. This heroine is not that way.
I would suggest reading some of the other books, though, I kinda felt lost at times.
This is book 5 in The Elliotts series. In this book, Cullen, youngest son of divorced parents Daniel and Amanda, finds out he is to be a father in 7 months. The mother is his mistress, Misty Vale, a former Las Vegas showgirl and five years his senior. Misty kept the pregnancy secret until she faints at her dance studio that Cullen bought her when she became injured and could not longer dance. Cullen wants to get married right away and Misty rejects his offer. He does convice her to fly back to New York to rest for a while. While there, he thinks he can talk her into marrying him. She continues to reject his offer. In New York, more family members question his decision just to make sure it is what he really wants. This story parallels that of his parents. They were sweethearts and she got pregnant out of wedlock. Patrick, father and grandfather to Daniel and Cullen respectively, forced the marriage. Everyone wants to make sure the same mistake does not happen again. Cullen realizes that he does love Misty and does not care what others think. Misty packs to leave and Cullen walks in on her. Cullen finally admits he loves her and she accepts his proposal. Patrick finally makes an appearance during the wedding. He speaks to Misty and welcomes her to the family and states that he noticed a change in Cullen since he started dating her. He implies that he knew of the affair for a very long time. And this book, a wedding scene is finally included. I liked this book. This couple is not one of my favorites, but I did enjoy them. This is very simple read. One of the more enjoyable aspects was that much of the story was told from Cullen's point of view. In writing this review, I realized how all of the authors up to this book, have done such a great job of keeping Patrick's character the same. He is the same ornery character in every book. His actions, however, go against what his family sees of him. And these characters are supposed to be very intelligent, but only see him in one dimenson. I did not like Bridget in this book. She speaks first and doesn't think at all. My first introduction to her was the second book in the series, "Taking Care of Business." She seemed so mature unlike this book. There are at least three foreshadows to Bridget's and Daniel-Amanda's stories. The most interesting foreshadow was to Bryan's story. I found at one inconsistency in book. On page 152 Cullen takes off his suit jacket, but on page 161 he has it back on.
Mr. and Mistress is the fifth book in the Elliotts continuity series, and like the first four, I also enjoyed it. This book features Cullen Elliott’s story as the youngest son of divorced parents Daniel and Amanda.
It is the best example of a rich guy who falls for a poor girl that will make you wish to experience it in real life. Haha. Am I too obvious? Oh well, I tell you, I adored Cullen in this story. He’s such a sweet guy. And this is a lovely story.
Without the knowledge of his family, Cullen has kept a mistress for the past four years. Seeing her whenever he went to Vegas and supporting her financially. Misty Vale is just a former Vegas showgirl, and she’s five years his senior. And she has been in love with Cullen, but she knew better than to act on her feelings. She knew she was not suitable for the likes of him and never will be. She was a kept woman.
But things changed between them when Misty accidentally got pregnant with Cullen’s child. Being responsible, he proposed to her immediately, but she refused. To make a long story short, Cullen proposed to her repeatedly, but she still refused him because she believed that if she married Cullen, she’d be ruining his life. And he is only asking out of obligation.
I know the pregnancy storyline was used often, but the author writes it so wonderfully.
But I’ve read some comments about Misty being so selfish and playing hard to get because she kept refusing Cullen’s marriage proposal. Actually, it was the opposite. She was unselfish. She loves him. That’s why she wanted to protect him. She would willingly walk away from him if that meant he would have all his family and his good name or reputation.
Asking Misty to marry him almost every day made him realise that he’s in love with her and wants to be a part of their child’s life, not just some long-distance father. And he does not care what others think, especially his grandfather. Although they are not my favourite couple, I still enjoyed reading their story. And what I enjoyed the most about this book was that it was told mostly from Cullen’s point of view.
Elliot's Dynasty is one of my favorites series. And I'm looking forward to reading the rest of it.
I fell in love with Cullen and Misty is such a big hearted heroine. Of course I knew they'd have an HEA but I was anxious to find out just how wonderful it would be. Cullen and Misty live on in my mind. Corny yes, but noetheless they do.
This a an incredibly sweet love story -- a Harlequin standard i.e. Rich Boy falls for Vegas Showgirl, but it was written with such heart. It was just something about these two and the way Heidi Betts penned them that made it a truly special read. Misty reminded me of Emma in Christine Rimmer's Bravo Billionaire -- beautiful heart and no game playing! Honest to a fault and no making the hero jump on command.
Perhaps it is Misty's desire to place her love for Cullen above her own needs. That doesn't mean she was a doormat -- just a woman in love and her love was so pure that she would walk away from her man if it meant he would have all his family and social status afforded him. Misty's unselfish made this story and Cullen's pursuit of her cemented it. This is one of the best of the Elliotts Dynasty stories. Between Taking Care of Business and Mr and Mistress I am not sure which story is my favorite about the Elliot Dynasty, but Mr. and Mistress is definitely the warmest and best on an emotional level.
The plot didn't ring true. "I'm a kept woman, a mistress, but I'm not a gold-digger, so I won't marry this attentive rich guy, that I am in love with, so I don't bring him down." Misty seems full of too many rationalizations as long as taking advantage of him is private and not public. I didn't have any respect for her. I liked Cullen's persistence in going after he wanted, and I liked the age difference of the couple, but even he felt flat as a character.
Opening scene was hot and I thought the rest of the book would follow a similar pattern but the chemistry petered out. Call me old fashioned but books where heroines are older than the heroes just don't appeal to me
Well miracles do happen. Patrick Elliott-does have a heart and sees the happiness in his grandson. True love and happiness sometimes need a push. It was good that Misty had a good heart and did not want to be Cullen’s downfall, but she had to learn to love herself first and not put herself down. The Elliott’s series is not as exciting as some of the other family series I have read
Not a lot of things going on. And just dragged out to get to the ending. Not a lot of story in this book. Not good/not bad just eh. Skip it, it’s forgettable.
she was a realistic woman and and she acted according to their mutual agreement. What she didnt take to account was that he was in love with her. :D ı took it my system now, Misty and Cullen was having an affair for 4 years. and when she got pregnant Cullen propose her but she thought, it was because of his over responsible character ( it wasnt a wrong assumption at first, but when they stayed Cullens home in NY they realized they in love etc) and she rejected. in the end, happly after and Patrick's welcome to Elliots talk. this book was more realistic and it got more solid base for a realitionship. ı didnt cry in this book thank god. :D

I liked this book enough, but apparently, I've been in a 'we don't communicate, but just assume we know what the other person is thinking' streak. Again, another storyline that could have been resolved quickly had the main characters just spoken with each other about the situation and their concerns/doubts.
I didn't care for the repetition of the fact that Misty didn't mind being a kept woman. It seemed to be in every chapter. As well, the one action of the grandfather seemed completely out. Of character and I didn't believe it. I was hoping for more from Heidi Betts as I love her knitting trilogy.
Claramente estoy leyendo la serie en desorden. No importa, la historia no me llego tanto, no se, es ciertas cosas le vi much parecido a otras historia. Me hubiera gustado que se desarrolle mas, como la historia de los padres.
