Milo is a grumpy old bear, but he has a good heart. In this charming tale, Milo wants to sleep during winter. But other animals need his help, and they keep waking him up. When Milo sleeps too long and misses spring, the animals he helped return a favor. This book encourages children to help others, even when they feel grumpy. This book is a part of the Fables from the Forest series. The series teaches students to love and respect nature while illustrating essential life lessons.
Sweet picture book about Milo the cranky bear who just wants a good rest for hibernation. However, he teaches us a lot more about consideration and selflessness along the way. Beautifully illustrated to highlight the beauty in nature! Great gift to teach children about altruism!
Kindhearted, Neighbourly, and Organically Colourful!
Great book to read to children, a step above first-readers, Milo the Grumpy Bear shares a rather complex 'grumpy bear personality' with simplicity and relatability. We learn a lot about real nature and our own nature through Milo, as he finds that selflessness is more important than our own desires or goals. Uplifting ending makes the story a joy to finish.
Illustrations absolutely need discussion, as the warm tones give the forest a very realistic appeal. With the foreground in fine detail, the images seem to pop out from the watercolour-like background. Composition and expressions tell much of the story themselves! Each page is its own work of art. Movement and action create dynamic images.
This looks like a fantastic start to a fabled series.
I absolutely ADORED this story! The illustrations were fantastic! But beyond that, the story itself was both educational and touching. Milo may have been a “Grumpy Old Bear” but he did indeed have “a good heart!” His willingness to forego his much needed sleep to help his forest friends in their times of great distress showed just how big of a heart he truly had. And the care and love the forest friends showed in return by letting him sleep in a bit longer, while being sure he still had the essentials he would need when he did finally wake wake showed just how much they all cared for him each other. I especially loved the picture of Milo eating the honey comb!! Love this book…and I’m almost 60 years old!!😂
Milo the Grumpy Bear is a charming story that delights both kids and parents. It teaches lessons about kindness and selflessness through the adventures of Milo, a grumpy but kind-hearted bear. The book stands out with its beautiful illustrations, featuring warm colors and expressive details that vividly bring the forest characters to life. This story is not just entertaining; it's a meaningful journey into understanding nature and building character. I like that it had bear facts and discussion questions to make it a great learning tool. Recommend for any kid.
Milo the Grumpy Bear takes young readers on a delightful journey through the forest, offering a charming tale of kindness and selflessness. The story succeeds in delivering important life lessons about friendship and altruism.
Milo’s adventures, accompanied by enchanting illustrations, create an engaging and endearing story for children. The additional educational content about bears adds a thoughtful touch, making this book a recommended read for both entertainment and learning.
First, the book cover is phenomenal. Second, I love the visuals; they're so good. Third, the text is easy to see, and it does not detract from the artworks, which is super important in a work like this. The fun facts near the end of the book were a great inclusion, and the storyline was great. This picture book deserves a five-star rating in my mind. I recommend this book for children.
This book is beautiful for teaching kindness to children. The story is charming, and the illustrations are stunning. I appreciate how the story teaches that even when we are too tired or when it’s not the best time for helping others, when we do, we make a big impact on their hearts. Then later, when we need help ourselves, we will feel the love returned to us. This book will help start important conversations with our kids.
This was a fun read. The end was very sweet and when reading this to my kids it provide the opportunity to tell them it pays to be nice and not a ‘grumpy individual. The illustration were beautiful and reminiscent of stories I’ve read as a kid. Nice little read to get the kids away from screen time.
Delightful children’s book about a bear that is both grumpy and helpful
Poor Milo keeps getting his nap interrupted by other animals asking for help. Even though Milo is grumpy, he helps them. The other animals return favors in the spring.
I read this story to my son and he really enjoyed it. We loved the fun facts and discussion questions as well. The pictures were really beautiful too! Lovely story
