Join the fight for freedom on Alliance's newest member.
When Cordoba fell and his officer was murdered, Jacob T. Grimm vowed the fight wasn't over. With the help of DesRon 12 and the stalwart spacers of the USS Interceptor, he's going to bring the Guild to their corporate knees.
On Cordoba, things aren't going well for the Marines. Local infantry are eager to attack, while refugees are forced out of the capital city on the verge of winter. The Spanish planet is in trouble. However, not all is as it seems.
The ground forces aren't Guild and they have more advanced tech than the Alliance Marines. Gunny Jennings and Bravo-Two-Five will need to muster every ounce of courage to fight overwhelming odds in a battle they never planned for.
As the fate of the planet unfolds, ex-spy Nadia Dagher and a ragtag group of former Interceptor crew must infiltrate the Guild and find the true location of their home planet.
Jacob faces off against a superior enemy, one as ruthless as he is compassionate. If he can't find a way to win, all the people on Cordoba will pay the price.
Award-winning Journalist and USA Today bestselling author Jeffery H. Haskell thinks he should always be himself… unless he can be Spider-Man. Then, he should be Spidey. He’s a lifelong lover of comic books and science fiction, and he owns his geek status by quoting Aliens and Star Trek at every given opportunity. When he realized he could make a living writing about his obsessions, he jumped at the chance. With the incredible support of his amazing wife and spectacular children, Jeffery lives the dream of bringing his imagination to the page and on occasion, he writes about love and marriage.
Author is so great at telling the story: dramatics, action, battle scenes, relationships, humor, well crafted banter and creative tactics of thinking outside the box. All of these make the series a MUST READ!! And it’s a killer each time because the book ends and you’re so not ready for it to end; you just want the author to “hurry up already” so we can get our hands on the next one. It’s truly that good! Gotta say that I’m truly upset at the loss of one of the main characters though. And it seemed so quick, without a oartucyamiunt if attention to the battle action sequence, dialogue, etc that I would have expected for this character. And there definitely wasn’t any fanfare, conversation, shared grief among the group then and definitely not afterwards. It just seemed like it was treated as less than I thought it would have been. I kept thinking/hoping that somehow, someway that person would show up, but that never happened.😢 I will miss this character! Sorry, Mr Haskell, but I truly wish you hadn’t killed off this one. War — many times caused by people or organizations, like the Guild, who are out to take from others, no matter the consequences, no matter the harm (even deaths) it may cause— can only be stopped by those who are courageous enough to stand against them; people like Captain Jacob Grimm and his crew of the Interceptor. Oorah!
This is probably the best book in the series so far.
There are still downsides, though. With any work of science fiction, it is necessary to have a suspension of disbelief. It's a requirement for the genre and the majority of books/movies, etc, in general. Be that as it may, there are a few things that are really hard to let slide in this book.
The short time spent focusing on Nadia's mission to the guild home world, the apparent relative ease she and her team were able to escape completely unharmed and the Alliances complete steam rolling of the guilds defenses. (This simply could be due to the low amount of page time dedicated to this plot line) Not to mention, I fully do not buy that the Alliance, who were portrayed as these protectors of life and the innocent would willingly through their actions, glassed an entire planet killing billions.
The editing is also very bad. Missing words, random letters, quotations, etc.
Very well done. Book 6 was a bit disappointing because the first half was slow, author keeps pace going on this one and is back to developing an excellent series.
My only quibble is hero Grimm is almost too heroic, all the characters we’ve gotten to know survive and thrive.
Also, just because Alliance immensely damages the Guild’s main planet doesn’t mean they are done, likely to be something left in 5he ruins plus other planets and assets to rebuild - if someone tries.
But a late May 2025 release for the next book? For four hundred pages? Dude, I couldn't even enjoy the book the entire time I was just like, well it's gonna be a whole year now I guess. absolutely went from 5 stars to 3 and it's barely a 3. Great book though, Author is just a lazy ******
Jacob and the Interceptor are still orbiting the planet Cordoba. In the last book the smarmy Guild had invaded this planet due to an extremely valuable resource located beneath the crust. The Marines are on the ground while the destroyer is in space trying to protect them from the Guild ships.
The perspectives were mainly from Jacob, the Marines, (specifically Bond & Jennings), Nadia, (undercover on the Guild home world), and some of the political factions back on Alexandria. The dialogue and interactions of these characters was very well done. I have really come to care for them! It's not a bland cookie-cutter cast at all.
The pacing was great, unlike the last book. As a matter of fact, this book was really fast-paced in comparison to the previous six. There were some terrific fighting scenes on the dirt with the Marines. The crew of the Interceptor above had their own fights and problems. And Nadia must eat steel rivets for breakfast. Speaking of her, she really has a lot of depth. Despite her fears she does what needs to be done. I like her attitude.
I preordered the next one in the series and it's supposed to be published the end of May in 2025. Bummer! I'm already looking forward to reading it.
An excellent continuation of the story. Both space and land based, with some espionage thrown in for good measure All the main characters are there and all of them feature heavily in one of the threads or other. It's a good story that keeps you engrossed from the beginning My only minor observation is, I wish authors out os precis of the story so far at the beginning, so those of us that have to wait 6 months for the next book have a reminder of what's happened. In my case I'll have read a 100 books in between and it's difficult to remember
TRADITIONS OF COURAGE is another perfectly plotted, exciting tale of the brilliant and honorable Alliance Space Navy Commander Jacob Grimm and his loyal crew. All the main characters get under your skin and into your heart. This series is full of military rescue action with just the right touch of space opera and humor. P.S. - I love the Glossary of Terms! Very helpful for this non-military girl. Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book with no strings attached.
Military writing fans may be happy with this series but to be honest I cannot be. So much military action and military jargon gets boring (although I will read the next book just out of curiosity). What I find more difficult to get along with are the numerous inconsistencies in the writing due to lack of revisions. Also I think SCIENCE in these novels is a joke, maybe the genre should be described as fantasy or (bad science)-fiction.
I can’t seem to get enough of this series. It gets better with each book. Grimm deals with more, and more powerful, enemies than ever before and Nadia is with those darn Army guys again! This book was fun to read and I’ll definitely read it again. I look forward to book 8. Read this book. You’ll be glad you did. This book is family friendly.
Freaking love this series! Hero’s and villains with clear lines between them … then the grey characters mixed in, but the hero’s are clear and the bad guys are … the bad guys!!! Can’t wait till the next one, and I’ll have to go check out JH other books while I wait!! Grimms war is an amazing series!
Even though the novel is divided into three narrative threads and the construction, from a temporal point of view, is often far-fetched, this seventh part of the adventures of Skipper Grimm, the space scout, is pleasant to read from start to finish. Not everything is clear in terms of logic, far from it, especially what concerns the Guild, but it is pure entertainment space opera.
This has been an entertaining read up to this volume. I probably won't finish the series because I don't remember the previous books very long. The advantage is that if I mark a book I like, I can read it several times over the years and still love it. The disadvantage is if I am interrupted when reading a series, I almost have to start over to remember the plot thread.
Grimm is sent on a diplomatic mission to Cordoba, a Hispanic planet which is immediately faced with a military coup that Jacob must deal with. His love, Nadia, is sent in disguise to the home world of the Guild to ascertain their exact location and status. More war and death are coming and many will pay the price of the Guild's inhuman practices. Excellent.
Book 7 develops along several plot lines, each of which is very good. They come together towards the end in a thrilling conclusion of battle and courage. The team of Commander Grimm and the rest of DesRon 12, as well as the Marines, have many insurmountable challenges. Courage and smarts allow them to prevail against seemingly insurmountable odds. Bravo! Looking forward to Book 8.
This series just keeps getting better. Nothing earth shattering in terms of change you mindset philosophy but just a solid engaging and enjoyable read. In all my years on Amazon, I have written fewer than 10 reviews. That I am motivated to write one now should speak volumes for the enjoyment I have derived from this series.
Haskell delivers another enthralling space navy book with engaging characters, an intriguing plot, a corporation as the villain, and some well-written opponents. Highly recommended, as are the rest of this series.
This could easy have been two novels. And it suffered as a result. Action was truncated. A physical transformation was nearly completely glossed over. And editing is still sloppy. Good stories, though.
The usual nail biting action as in all of the other Grimm books. I prefer the marine ground pounder action more than the space battles but the ship to ship action is good as well as are the spy adventures. Lots of good characters in this series!
"Traditions of Courage" keeps up the ongoing saga of Commander Grimm and his crew with all the twists and turns that makes this series as enjoyable as we expect. Well worth reading.
Another great book in the series and a thoroughly enjoyable read. I can't wait for the next book to come out and see further developments of the characters and story
I have read the whole series so far. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. This was possibly the best installment yet. Well written and edited. Can't wait to see what's next.
