Wanted: Nanny for preschooler. Must love dinosaurs, silly songs, hand puppets, and will definitely not fall for his single dad.
After my three-year-old terror on two feet turns my live interview into a viral joke, I’m crowned the internet’s favorite “zaddy.” Whatever that means. But when my newfound fame threatens my shot at tenure, I know I need help to keep my academic career on track.
In saunters Kennedy Novak, an effervescent ray of sunshine. With her megawatt smile and endless patience, she is a godsend, exactly what my son, Finn, needs.
Exactly what I need to stabilize my home life.
Which makes my attraction to her all the more problematic. Even though she’s twelve years my junior, I can’t ignore her lush body, the playful way she calls me “professor,” or how she moans my name when we almost kiss.
Yet I know I can’t cross that line and risk losing the best thing that has ever happened to Finn and me.
Until her ex comes back.
Then all bets are off. Because there is no way I’ll give up Kennedy, internet fame or tenured position be damned.
First and foremost, any single father romance that DOESN’T vilify the birth mother gets so many points from me. Maybe my standards are on the floor but what a refreshing deviation.
MAIN CHARACTER NAMES AND AGES Kennedy Novak (24) | Liam O’Neil (36)
FEATURES ∘ single father (3 year old son) ∘ nanny ∘ serious / carefree ∘ age gap (12 years)
REVIEW It can be a bit intimidating to drop in the middle of a series set in an even bigger universe, but aside from not knowing whose kids are whose (which honestly, is an issue in real life too), I had a pretty good idea of who the side characters were and differentiated them easily.
The romance was cute, a little tepid at times, but the intimate scenes were plenty spicy. I loved the friendship Kennedy had with Finn, the son, more than I cared for the romance between her and Liam. I also adored that Liam was a good father even before Kennedy stepped into the picture.
The only time I wasn’t enjoying what I was reading was during the third act conflict. It made me dislike both main characters because of how poorly and immaturely they both behaved. The resolution was done well with both Kennedy and Liam being considerate of the other. That paired with a short break from the book—which I had been reading almost constantly up to that point—my anger abated into mild irritation. A win is a win.
Tiny terror Finn just wreaking havoc wherever he went was the highlight of this book. I didn’t think he could get any cuter and then I found out he was wearing glasses, and my heart melted.
All around, The Nanny Tenure was a fun, heartfelt read.

I received a free copy via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a good read overall and there were parts I really loved and parts I didn't. Let's talk about it.
The chronic illness rep in this is SO good. Sophie has epilepsy and while there aren't any seizure scenes in the book, it's still a part of the story and Sophie talks about it loads especially when it comes to relationships, having kids in the future, sex while on meds, etc etc. I felt really seen by that and it was a raw and just real portrayal of what it's like to be dependent on meds to live a normal life, to always have to worry about another flare up and how it impacts your whole life. Major props to the author for that 🫶🏻
Okay, so, the relationship. Bit boring, ngl. I'm sorry, okay! They're cute! But especially in the middle, it just draaaags, they're already acting like a family, all his friends are like "u fucked right" and then when they get together it just keeps being boring.
The spice is 🥵🥵🥵 though. Definitely my fav parts hehe, I do love myself a DILF professor.
There's two parts to the breakup drama and I feel like they could've been handled soo much better, it wasn't even miscommunication, they just didn't seem to want to communicate in the first place, ughhh. Just seemed a bit inconsistent at times!
All this to say – it's a really quick and fun read, I had a nice afternoon with it and as I said, spice was a+ and so was the chronic illness rep 🫶🏻
If you want a single dad x nanny romance that’s different & refreshing this is the one!
“I had a hunch this girl got whatever she wanted.”
Liam and Kennedy were fun and the tension🤌🏻🤌🏻 I LOVED Kennedy’s relationship with Finn (Liam’s son) so much, it truly was the star of this book!
The “fck it” moment, the jealousy scenes and the way that Liam just wanted to take care of Kennedy!! We love a man who encourage his girl to chase her dreams and stands up for her in front her horrible ex!
Also the representation in this book was A+
There was one specific plot line I didn’t love but other than that, this was a fun time! Definitely recommend!
4⭐️ 3 🌶️ I received this book as an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Can I just start by saying there is a reference to Chapter 55 from A Court of Mist and Fury by SJM!!!!!
This is a very contemporary single dad/nanny, age gap (12years) romance that is so incredibly wholesome (but also very spicy 🥵)!
Hot Professor has quite the mouth on him:
——“Professor, I know you’re not the rule-breaking kind.” “I’d break every rule for you… Now are you done asking questions, or do I need to spank your ass until it’s red?” 😮💨😮💨🔥🔥 ——
This is definitely more of a medium to slow burn 🔥 but once we get to the spice it is HOT!
This book was very wholesome in the aspect of found family and how their relationship as a family develops. The little boy in this reminded me so much of my own stepson and I felt like I could see myself in Kennedy because of my own journey of becoming a stepmom.
There is mention of domestic abuse and narcissistic behavior for anyone needing to be mindful of triggers. We also have a FMC with a chronic illness (epilepsy) which I have never seen represented in a book before.
Overall this was a very cozy, enjoyable read and I would recommend!
Let's be honest, Kennedy Novak is a bit of a train wreck. She's sweet and adorable, but she has some bad habits and low self-esteem that have her making occasionally questionable decisions. Even so, I couldn't help but like her. Her heart is in the right place, but I agree with Liam that she apologizes WAY too much.
Now, Dr. Liam “Hot Professor” O’Neil... woo-wee! I'm adding him to my list of BBFs. I hope he doesn't mind me calling him Zaddy as he dishes out the funishments. 😘 Kennedy has the right of it when she lets him do... *sigh*... all the naughty and amazing things he does to her. *double sigh*
She’d gone from cute nanny to siren, and I hadn’t been able to stop staring. -- Liam O’Neil
While Finn steals the show a few times, this really is about Liam and Kennedy. He harps a little too much on the age gap, and she's got her esteem issues, but beyond that, they are fantastically matched. They may take things slow, but their chemistry burns white hot on multiple occasions. 🥵🔥💦
This is my first book by Sophie, but I suspect I'll be back. Oh, one last thing. Make sure you pick up the bonus epilogue. It does not disappoint!
H = 36; h = 24
I was gifted a copy of this book as part of a Facebook giveaway.
Okay, I LOVED this story, I mean, I lived my best life while reading this book 🥰
Kennedy is a 24-year-old girl who hasn't had it easy, but she has a huge heart. She offers to be the nanny for Liam's three year old boy (such a sweet kid) and let's just say that's where it all starts. Liam knows that she is "off limits" not only because she is his child's nanny, but also because he is much older than she is (he is 36 years old). I have to say, I'm a fan of a good age gap and here I felt it was well written.
The story unfolds slowly, I won't lie to you, when they finally express their feelings, I was screaming into my pillow so as not to wake anyone up, because it was worth it. These two won me over and the way Kennedy fell in love with little Finn, oh my God, I fell in love too! Yes, there is a bit of drama, but I liked how they dealt with it.
This is the first book I've read by the author (whom I thank for giving me an advanced copy) and I will immediately add all of her books to my TBR because I undoubtedly loved her writing style.

This book is about Liam, a single dad and Kennedy who is the nanny of his adorable son Finn.
Liam is a cool guy, serious but sweet at the same time and naughty when he has to be 😉 Kennedy is a ray of sunshine but a bit immature for my taste. I liked the way the author addressed Ken’s health issues and incorporated them in the story.
I found it nice that it took them a while to move forward, it’s no insta-love romance, although I wasn’t exactly feeling the chemistry. I thought the spice, once they stopped fighting their attraction, was too much (I’m referring to the quantity). It was as if it was there to fill some story gaps. The short 3rd act breakup, also didn’t excite me.
-Dual 1st person POV -Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Overall: 3.5/5 ⭐️ for me.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Sophie Andrews did it again! The single dad's club series will always be one of my favorites! Liam and Kennedy were such a fun couple to read about! I love Kennedy's relationship with Finn. I loved the Sarah J. Maas reference. This book was wholesome. I highly recommend reading this series! I'm looking forward to reading more future books by Sophie Andrews.
I absolutely adored Liam and Kennedy! And Finn was the absolute cutest kid.
For the mom, Tessa, to not be in the picture, it was such a beautiful way to showcase co-parenting without the mother off on sabbatical being the bad guy.
I thought there was a lot more depth than I expected there to be which I really appreciated.
There was so miscommunication that I could have done without because that’s not my favorite trope but over all, I absolutely loved this story!
Boss/Nanny 12 year age gap Slow burn
Thank you, Sophie for giving me my first ARC experience! 🤍
It’s time for book two in the Single Dads Club and up next is dad to the prince of chaos Finn and recent online sensation “hot professor and zaddy” Liam O’Neil! And boy did this deliver, I loved it so so much. I adore Sophie’s writing, she has an incredible ability to build the most likeable and relatable characters, set a scene and build an incredible story that had me consumed right from the first page. This was a beautiful, witty and steamy romance that will warm your heart.
𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: single dad x nanny, age gap, professor mmc, slow burn, plus size fmc, secret tattoos and glasses.
While being a slow burn, the witty banter, mutual pining, amazing chemistry and tension between these two was palpable and built up into an incredible connection between the two of them. And when the Hot Professor finally gives in? He’ll set your kindle up in flames, because this man had a mouth on him and they were explosive together!
Kennedy is me, I am Kennedy. I loved her instantly and could relate to so many aspects of her character. She was a breath of fresh air. A theatre nerd who’s flighty, a little chaotic and will take bribes in form of retail therapy at the beauty store, she’s the kind of girl you want to be around. My heart ached for her a number of times, because she’s on a journey and it’s a rocky road while she’s working on herself and figuring out what she wants from life and where she belongs. I loved the way she found that with Liam and Finn.
And a moment for the healthy co-parenting relationship please. I enjoyed the dynamic with this, the open communication and the friendship Kennedy formed with Finn’s mum, it was special and done so beautifully.
Please be sure to read the bonus epilogue because it was super sweet. This group of single dads is so fun, I love their banter and enjoying seeing them, along with their kids, get their HEA’s. The teaser for book three had me emotional and I am so ready for Jude’s story. I’ll be here, waiting.
okayyyy so this was my first sophie andrews book & definitely not my last because this was so freaking sweet 🥹 like, yes it was a little more slow burn??? than i expected, but it totally worked for the story.
kennedy is a bit of a hot mess ( girl, same ), and i was lowkey annoyed during the third act conflict because both her and liam were acting immature BUT the way it got resolved?? felt very adult and actually made sense, so we love that. 👏🏻
only slightly off-putting thing about this book was that anytime they were having a serious conversation liam was dismissing it to have sexy time, which annoyed me 😒 but that’s whatever.
now let’s talk about dr. liam “hot professor” o’neil because 😮💨🔥 i am absolutely adding him to my bbf list. he was so patient, charming && when he gets all dominant??? ma’am. kennedy had the right idea letting him take the lead. 🫠
also… little finn?!! the toddler chaos he brought had me smiling the whole time. and then the glasses?? i melted. 🥺👓 he was so realistic too like actually written like a three-year-old, not some weird mini adult.
there is some om drama with kennedy’s ex ( ugh. ) & a third-act breakup ( boo ), but it wraps up with an hea && a bonus epilogue set in the near future that absolutely delivered. 💖
🌶️ spice: 4/5 🌀 drama: mild, but not annoying 🫶 ending: satisfying + sweet 📖 pov: dual / first person 🧠 overall: a cozy, slightly spicy, emotionally satisfying read with lovable chaos and some swoony moments. would def recommend!
Liam published his first book about how America’s current politics were transforming and got a lot of attention after the video interview. He received unwanted attention on campus where he is a professor, online commentary, his email is ransacked with females, he was really struggling. Especially at home. He needed a nanny and someone to help organize his chaotic life.
Kennedy just got fired and found out her room isn’t available anymore due to the landlord selling.
She’s out with her sister at a live music bar where she spots the “hot professor” and overhears how he needs a nanny. She goes to him and states she wants to be his nanny especially if it offers a room.
After giving into Kennedy, he offers her the job. He’s nervous but is willing to give her a shot. Over time he notices the grown in his son, Finn. His speech is getting stronger and his attention is lasting longer. Kennedy has a lot of patience for him and they are always doing something. The only issue both Liam and Kennedy face is trying not to fall for each other!

💭What a sweet and sexy fun read. An unlikely pair finds love after trials and hardships.
I loved thiss!!! The tension the slow burn god was everything!!!!!❤️❤️ And I loved her relationship with Finn and the spice was lit 🔥
My main critique would be that the ending and the whole conflict of him getting the tenure felt a little to rushed and over the place+ they never explain how and why they pardon him and granted him the tenure. It felt too convenient and all knowing it was how this book starts and all + her character i felt was too flimsy didn't know which way to go and sometimes i became exhausted and frustrated with her but well nevertheless i so recommend thiss
-single dad/nanny -slow burn - strangers to friends to lovers - lotsss of sexual tension -spicy - mild third act break up - mention of epilepsy - healthy for the heart and soul
Sophie does it again! She’s such an amazing writer!🙌🏻 Liam and Kennedy’s story was sweet and spicy in all the right places. Finn (Liam’s son) was extremely cute and definitely stole the show at times. I also loved how Kennedy was an epilepsy rep. Sophie did an amazing job describing some of her struggles and fears and how she just learned to live her life. It’s a slow burn between Liam and Kennedy but when the spice finally kicked in? It was fricken delicious… Who knew a nerdy, blonde, professor MMC could have such a filthy mouth on him?!😏🤭🥵
Kennedy needs a job, and a place to stay so when she overhears someone at a bar looking for a nanny, she weasels her way into getting hired. Liam is drowning in work and parental duties so he is thrilled when Kennedy proves herself as a nanny, but there’s just something about her that draws him in. Kennedy tries to focus on herself, her job as a nanny while chasing her dreams as a theatre star, but she secretly craves more from Liam. Throw in a sleazy ex, and a knight in shining armour moment and you have yourself a fab book!😉
If you enjoy “forbidden”, age gap, single dad x nanny romances you’ll enjoy this story!
Thank you to Sophie for sending me an early copy. All thoughts are my own! Can’t wait for the next single dad romance instalment!
kennedy’s just like me: epileptic, hates driving, apologizes too much, and thinks rodgers and hammerstein’s cinderella is the best movie musical
seriously though sophie has easily become one of my favorite authors <3 she’s just so great and i love her so much <33 more people need to read her books!!!!!
I’m a sucker for a single dad romance, so I knew this read was gonna be pretty enjoyable. There was so much I loved about this book. The slow burn, the tension, the pining, ugh. He’s so protective over her but doesn’t stop her from going after what she wants, I love it! I also adored the kid in this book, he was just the cutest. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the third act break up, personally I found it to be a bit unnecessary and extremely avoidable. Other than that, amazing read!
Tropes: single dad x nanny, small town, found family, forced proximity, slow burn, mutual pining, protective mmc
My first Sophie Andrews book and what can I say, but dang professor Liam is such a decent and dirty guy, and Kennedy is such a lovely underrated and sweetly stunning young woman.!
Their story is well written and highly entertaining, I would highly recommend it.
Thank you sooo much to Sophie Andrews for an ARC of this book. It brought me out of such a big reading slump, I was so uninspired with every book I picked up but this one got me.
I love Sophie’s writing and the characters were SO good! I really loved both of them and sometimes you just need a hot single dad/nanny romance in your life. The age gap was 10/10. The tension and chemistry was 10/10.
This is a great 4 star read - I only haven’t rated it 5 stars because it wasn’t a life changing read as such but it was fun, entertaining and SO CUTE. Like I said, it brought me out of a reading slump and I finished this in a few days so I’m eternally grateful.
omg omg omggggg. this was my first ARC & single dad trope that i have read !!! i absolutely LOVED this book. the characters , the SPICEEEEE. god , i love it. i can’t wait to read more books by this author !!!!
i don’t even want to see the fight resolved i genuinely don’t think they should be together
to sum this book up
kennedy: im sorry im stupid
liam: it’s okay stop saying you’re stupid
after everything she done that affected liam she always spun it on herself which made liam have to comfort her instead of the other way around. I get when you do something that hurts somebody else ofc you’re sorry but the tears were so annoying
Thank you to Sophie for noticing on Instagram that I live local and sending me this to read early!
I have been branching out of my thriller comfort zone into romance lately and this far exceeded any expectations I had. Liam is a Single Dad who needed a Nanny. Kennedy needed a place and a job. She convinced him to hire her and wow were sparks flying! This slow burn was so tantalizing. I was giggling and then screaming at my book to ‘kiss her already’!!! It was so wholesome how Liam protected her and how she was trying to be the best role model for his son!
This comes out in TWO days and I HIGHLY recommend reading it. I am definitely going back to read the first one!
Liam has been dubbed “the Internet’s HOT PROFESSOR” thanks to his 3-year-old son, Finn, bursting into the room during an interview carrying a diaper in his hand. Liam’s phone has been blowing up with messages of all kinds. He can’t do his job, take care of Finn, and deal with this new found celebrity. He knows he needs help with Finn. He needs a nanny. But he has no clue how to hire one. This is where his “single dad’s club” buddies decide to help. They get together at the local bar to figure out how to hire a nanny.
Kennedy has been fired from her job, wrecked her car in an accident, and will soon be homeless. While sitting with her sister in the local bar, she sees Liam, hears from their mutual friend, Nate, the bartender, that Liam is looking for a nanny, and decides this is exactly what she needs to do. So. She makes her move.
And here is where Kennedy and Liam’s story begins.
There’s a big piece of my heart that now belongs to Liam O’Neil. Wow. What a delicious cinnamon roll hero. And Kennedy. Oh my heart. She’s had it rough. An abusive ex. Her self worth is shot. She’s afraid of loving Liam. Afraid she doesn’t deserve him. My heart broke for her. More than once. But Liam is determined to show her how important she is to both him and Finn and remind her of everything good that she deserves.
Prepare to fall in love with this boss/nanny, age gap couple HARD. Besides heating up the bedroom and I mean super steamy times, they also feed each other waffles and cinnamon apples. Liam and Finn sit in the front row and bring Kennedy flowers for her opening night at a regional theater. And any scene with little Finn will melt your heart.
These two are everything …… their struggles and ultimately their path to love. It’s an absolutely beautiful story. I finished this book on the plane, tears proudly displayed, and telling the lady next to me to grab this book immediately. I promised her she wouldn’t be sorry. A favorite read of mine for 2024.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It was good until it wasn't. I really liked Liam and Finn. Kennedy was immature especially with what she does at the third act breakup. She behaved more like a teenager than a 24 year old woman, and that's my hard no in books. I want characters to act their age.
Liam is a 36 year old college professor who is trying to write a book and get tenure at his university. He's floundering since the mother of his 3 year old son is in Antarctica for work, and he's got his kid all by himself trying to work full time. He needs a nanny. Kennedy overhears this in the bar they all frequent and applies for the job right then. She's flighty with the mantra "if it doesn't bring me joy, quit doing it." (Well I don't like paying taxes, but I go to jail if I quit.) This immaturity gives Liam pause but he still hires her. She's also epileptic but she manages it with medication.
She is a good nanny and mother figure for Finn and all seems perfect. Her ex starts pestering her but that's short lived. Everything goes great until Finn gets hurt and has to go to the doc for staples in his head. This is where she got on my nerves. It's not even a communication problem. She just acted like an idiot. I almost DNF'd at 88% but powered through till the end. She still didn't do enough to make up for their conflict and of course made it all about her.
Thank you to the author for allowing me access to this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
« But now, with Liam and Finn, I think I knew - deep down - my purpose was to be with them. To love them. »

I don’t often read contemporary romance. But when I read and rate one a 4 star, you know I’ve enjoyed it.
I might have related to Kennedy a bit too much. From her personality to her body type, to just her. And Liam? Yummy man.
A little bit of a slow burn, we really had to wait for it. But it made sense and worked with the story. I also love that the kid, Finn, was part of the story but wasn’t overwhelmingly present. I’m not a fan of kids, and even less of kids in romance books, but Finn was a happy little menace.
The spice wasn’t constant but good when it happened. Our Hot Professor was quite spicy in a low-key way.
I do wish Liam had a revenge moment with that asshole from his school. Would have loved that.
I will say the whole TikTok aspect made me cringe the tiniest bit, but it wasn’t a full-on ick. Made sense for the story but you know still a bit cringy.
Overall, I’d love to read more books from Sophie Andrews!

Once again Sophie has done it again! I am not going to do it justice on how much I enjoyed this book but once I started, it was hard for me to stop. I was forcing myself to take my time and just enjoy it when I read it.
I just get sucked into the way that Sophie writes her characters. They feel like your friends and realistic in their thoughts and actions.
This is the 2nd book in her Single Dads' Club series and this focuses on Liam. A single dad whose baby mama is away in Antarctica which means his busy 3 year old son will be with him full time. He is a professor and author and needs help with his son and the household. He meets with his friends at their local bar to come up with what kind of nanny he wants when this beautiful woman overhears and wants the job. From there Liam was smitten.
Kennedy was such a refreshing FMC for a romance. She is young and still trying to figure out her life. Her sister is overbearing and very protective of her sister which is understandable as Kennedy as epilepsy. Her boyfriend Dean was such a good counteract to her personality. Kennedy has a lot of skills but just didn't know what to do with them. And this position allowed her to pull from all her experiences and was the best nanny Liam could ask for.
"I'd break every rule for you."
There was a scene that I didn't realize would be so sensual until it was happening. Kennedy offers to give Liam a haircut. The mechanics of the head washing and cutting. You could feel the sexual tension between them. It was certainly brewing in that moment. Shortly later there was a moment that was the big turning point for the two that had me so sad for Kennedy but knowing Liam was there to rescue her - gahhh. I do not condone any sort of violence but in the book - this was so hot. The spice, the spice, THE SPICE. Hot damn the professor has a way in the bedroom that makes you blush. He was so careful with Kennedy and always was asking for her approval.
Despite their age gap, they worked so well together. Even when the 3rd act conflict happened, it all just felt so real and honestly I definitely would've reacted the same way as Liam.
I am not doing this book justice so please read The Rehearsal Fling and then jump into this because you won't regret it!
I love that we got to see all of our favorite single dads! I have missed Dylan and Gen and so I'm glad they are doing well.
