**Release Date will be moved upAerilyn- The past has a way of catching up with you. Karma always comes back around.
People say that, but it’s a lie.
Growing up, I did everything my parents wanted me to. I got good grades, played every instrument, and attended every recital. I learned three languages and didn’t dare break the rules. I got into the best college and followed their plan.
I knew from a young age my life was not my own. I was merely an extension of them. A way to keep our money flowing and continue our family legacy. I didn’t need to marry for love. The thought never even crossed my mind, but I didn’t think they would hand me over to a monster.
In the end, all I have to show for it is my piece of shit car and the money I’ve saved in secret to get away from him. Anywhere is better than where I started, and I’m not picky if it means getting away.
It can’t get much worse… Right?
Kai- Being top side with my brothers was supposed to be an escape, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. I’d thought it would be a piece of cake, as the humans say. But I ate one measly human, and now I’m almost positive I’d prefer the wailing of the lost souls over Asta’s constant nagging.
How hard could it be to find another one? There are only a few Billion of them wandering around.
Did it have to be this one, though?
Running from Nightmares is book one in the Roommates from Hell Series. This series features multiple love interests and does end on a cliffhanger.

5 ⭐️ 1.5-2 🌶️🌶️
✨Angels, demons and supernatural creatures ✨Why Choose ✨Arranged marriage ✨Found family ✨Very protective MMCs ✨Betrayal
Angels and Demons, heaven and hell are at war. Angels have fallen, now to become 4 of the most handsome demon roommates Aeri finds herself living with! On the run from her arranged marriage, Aeri finds herself possibly exactly where she needs to be, or perhaps it’s her guardian angel.
Aeri finds her streak of bad luck finally seems to come to an end after her car breaks down and she finds herself stranded, only to have everything sort of just fall into place for her, or are there other forces at work? Aeri finds herself meeting a new friend that gets her a job at Purgatory, only this isn’t any regular club and Aeri soon finds out she’s the only mortal that’s ever set foot in this club.
Four demons are looking for a new roommate to mask their auras from the angels. Only this one may come with some baggage they hadn’t planned on. Maybe even a possible mate….only demons can’t have mates after their fall from grace, or can they?
I absolutely could not devour this book fast enough, the plot was absolutely fantastic and fast paced there was no right time to put this down! This Urban fantasy has quickly climbed to one of my absolute favorites I’ve ever read! I cannot wait for the next book because the cliff hanger was brutal!!!
Thank you so much to Sara Hinds for allowing me to read this pre-release in exchange for my honest review
For book One, I think this style of writing isn't great. I read till the end with minimal skipping though hence the 3* We spend so much time following Ariealyn (heroine) around working, we don't get to the plot. I'd understand if she spent that time in this slow burn getting to know the MMCs but she doesn't.
Nothing starts really happening till 80% and I say happening in loose terms. I actually found myself missing heaven and hell stories so Ruin kept me keep reading.
The information shared by the characters is done over dramatically. I know they are old but get to the point.
Also because I'm pedantic... A 5 bedroom penthouse with 1 full bathroom. The heroine goes on about being raised rich but thinks she has to take her laundry to a laundromat.... Never having her hair professionally styled....
My main worry with this series is, how many books are going to keep being stretched out for us to keep buying to get to the end???
There is a 50/50 of my being bothered by how this ends, there are so so many other authors. Did this standout for me, no.
Running From Nightmares, book 1 of the series Roommates From Hell, by Sara Hinds@sarahindsauthor First, I am a fan of Sara & this book was no different!
OMG! This was a great book about Aeri, Bast, Ruin, Talian, Kai & Asta! 😈😈😈 Just fantastic! Tropes: PNR: Demons, Mortals, & Angels, RH, no MM, fated mates & guardian angels.
I finished Running from Nightmares this week not realizing book 2 doesn't come out till next week or the week after. And IM DYING INSIDE. I can't breath without it..... now that the dramatics are over, in all seriousness, I loved this book! It was a perfect fall/halloween is book. Ive been on such a hell/demons roll lately, and i regret nothing. So the FMC is on the run, gets stranded in a small town, moves in as a temp roommate with 4 other guys.... who end up being demons. 😳 there's a demon dance club, shadow daddy's, tails and horns, angels and demons. The Roommates From Hell series I can tell with be something I am fully invested in at every release!
Dedication reads: " To all my girls who love a man who's not only an alpha but has horns, wings, and a little bit of devil inside him"
Uuuuuugh you know when a story just hooks you from the first chapter and you blink and you've finished the book and you can't live without the characters you've met because they are written so well? THIS BOOK! The FMC is one of the strongest girls ever and I can't wait to see how she overcomes the drama as it unfolds. The MMCs - well, let's just say they are quite full of shit haha except Bast. I love him so much.
I read this book as an ARC & I really looked forward to this one: Angels & demons?🔥 Count me in!! 😉
As always, Sara didn’t disappoint with this first part in the series 😍 and I found myself not being able to put the book away & finished it in a few days. A perfect balance of an original story, interesting characters, spice/smut🔥 and action!
The only problem now, is that I have to wait so long until the next part comes out 😅
Holy crap this book was amazing! It does end on a cliffhanger that made me want to yell. I loved the tenseness of the entire story. Our FMC was running from someone and looking over her shoulder always. She finds herself in a town and stays there trying to find work and get her car fixed before running when. The demons are all grumpy and transfixed by her. I loved that some of them began to give into their cravings. I cannot wait for the next book.
First and foremost I want to thank Sara Hinds for the opportunity to arc read this. Let's get started.
What did I like?:
I like this author's writing style, read several books of her's and I can always follow them nicely and understand.
I liked the characters, especially considering there was a grumpy guy but he wasn't too mean. And I really liked that, the reason that's important to me Is because I've read too many why choose books where one guy is way too mean towards the FMC for no reason, so this was very refreshing to see. Every character feels unique to me, which I also consider important because I don't want to try to mix them up.
The plot was interesting, the relationship was very slow burn and I liked the world setting. Ruin was my favorite of the male characters, and I instantly felt his chemistry with the fmc. Something I think some characters have to work on before getting there.
Now you may ask, huh why did she rate this book 3 stars when she seems to like it. I'll tell you.
What I disliked:
My main issue with this book was Talian, he made himself look difference to go and hook up with the fmc and then calling himself Oliver. I did not like this at all, the fmc had previously briefly rejected Talian when he was being too pushy. So the fact that he would conceal himself to sleep with her and trick her really gave me the ick. Also with the fact that she gave consent to Oliver, she did not know it was Talian so to me it felt borderline SA. And he didn't even feel bad about it, he thought of the fmc as some sort of conquest. I really don't see any way for him to redeem that, tricking her, playing her all to sleep with her. For me that's disgusting. Talian wasn't a likable character at all for me and the fact that he doesn't think he did anything wrong, and that he didn't apologize rubs me the wrong way. It also felt weird that the fmc didn't get more upset. You were just told that a guy you slept with who you thought was a random guy actually was one of your roommate who tricked you. And she was fine about it?? Idk I may be overreacting maybe, but this is my opinion feel free to disagree of course.
Anyway I still thought the book was interesting and love to find out what happens next. I just don't care about Talian, like at all lol. I hope to get more romance development in the next book
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Any book from Sara is on my immediate read list, this one included. In Running from Nightmares: Roommates from Hell, we meet Aeri. Aeri is a sassy and hilarious FMC who is on the run from *him*. A person from her past that Aeri is so afraid of that she spends all her time trying to get far enough away that he can't find her. She makes it to Salt Lake City before car troubles and the resulting large repair bill makes her pause her journey to get as far as possible from *him*. A series of lucky connections gains her a friendly mechanic, a job and a place to live. Aeri begins to think her luck has changed. Her mechanic, Ruin, is the first 'friend' she makes in a long time. Her roommates, Asta, Bast, Kai and Talian are weirdly behaved and HOT, but the rent is cheap. She makes another friend, Lea, who changes her life with a well paying job. Aeri is reluctant to make friendly connections as she doesn't want to bring harm to these people she is getting close to. But things are not as they seem...
This book was a lot of fun! I beta read for this book as well as arc read for it and reading it the second time was just as incredible as seeing it in earlier stages. I loved reading Aeri's thoughts, but REALLY enjoyed reading the guy's unhinged thoughts. They were just so funny and I loved seeing how their opinions changed over the course of the book. I don't want to spoil anything, some scenes were spicy and I was here for it. This is a definite must read. I haven't read anything quite like this story and I think you might love it too.
I received an advance copy of this book in return for my honest review.
This book was very intriguing. The whole time I just ate it up and wanted more. From the beginning to the end. Which I still needed more after the cliffhanger it ends with!!!!
Storyline: Aries ( which I love her name) needs a new start. She is on the run and running from an arranged marriage. The devil as she calls him but is he really that? She comes to a small town and unfortunately her car takes a bump and needs to get fixed. So she started setting up a new life to save money. New job, place to stay... About that place to stay. Did I tell you it's with 3 hot devil brothers!!! But she doesn't know it yet. Even tho she is hiding from her husband she starts to feel safe. She finds a new friend, new job, new place to live but will all that come to an end.
This book really keeps you on your toes! Page turner for sure. I am more than excited to see what happens next in this series with all the twists that were in this one. Then you find out someone sells Aries soul to be rich!!!! Oh heck no And the betrayal. I wasn't expecting that at all! That shocked the heck out of me and I was like " NO SHE DIDN'T" , you need to slap her to that one!!!! But you are going to have to read it to find out.
Overall this is a great ,fast read that keeps you on your toes the whole time. This author is great at twists and turns along with details in the book. Each brother is different in their own way and the character build up for that is great! I can't see what is next in this series.
TLDR; story is good but dialogue needs help and overall needs editing. An example of a good story but not the best execution.
First, the creative side of this book is good. You can tell the author is excited about the story and has a lot of ideas to share. It kept me going despite the execution issues.
MOST IMPORTANTLY dialogue is nearly nonexistent. Instead of actual conversations they’re often summed up in inner monologue. Which is: 1) boring 2) less immersive & feels like reading cliff notes instead of actual story and 3) stops readers from getting to know the characters
It’s the difference between personally meeting someone or only hearing about them from a friend. Dialogue is crucial if you want readers to actually know and bond with the characters.
This story could also use a good editor. There are several places where sentences get repeated, just phrased differently. Some scene transitions are confusing. There’s a couple continuity errors (ex. Lea’s hair is described as being down and long and then 2 paragraphs later it’s described as back in a ponytail). The tense changes from present to past, sometimes in the same sentence. I think a good editor would be able to fix these issues.
Won’t go into the spice reading as assault to me (to avoid spoilers) but curious if anyone else felt the same?
Overall I enjoyed it because I can see the passion behind the project. I’ll continue the series and hope to see improvement as the story progresses!
This book will leave readers thinking. This book ends on a cliffhanger. I don’t want you to be surprised like I was. Aeri is on the run. A series of unfortunate events lands her in Brigham City. Brigham City is not far enough away from whatever Aeri is running from. Maybe her luck is finally taking a turn for the better. Though her car is going to take way more money than Aeri wants to spend, the town seems to embrace her. Most particularly the mechanic, Ruin, gives Aeri the lead on a job and a cheap room to rent. She might be okay. Things are looking up.
Aeri’s roommates, Asta, Bast, Kai and Talian, need a mortal in their home to stay undetected. Yes, you heard me right. These four demons needed a human. There is something different about Aeri. She just fits in. Her new friend, Lea, even manages to convince her to work at Purgatory. A club with weird theme nights as far as Aeri is concerned. She is making good money and staying under the radar. At least that is what she thought until Buterfly night. Aeri knew as soon as she saw the theme that her luck had run out. Amazingly, Aeri’s roommates stand with her and are determined to keep her safe.
A lot of information comes out and Aeri is thrown for loop. Where this book goes from here is anybody’s guess. I loved it. I can’t wait to see what the next book in this series will entail. This is the first book I have read from this author. Ms. Hinds’ definitely has me interested.
The first book of Roommates from Hell by Sara Hinds is an enthralling start to what promises to be an intense, character-driven series. The story follows Aeri, a fierce and determined protagonist, as she flees her dark past only to face a wave of unexpected complications. When her car breaks down mid-escape, she’s forced to settle temporarily and start over with whatever luck she can find.
In a turn of events, Aeri lands a job and finds herself living with four very distinct roommates 😈: Asta, Bast, Kai, and Talian. Each of them has a unique personality that adds depth to the story and a good dose of unpredictability. Asta is direct and bossy, creating some amusing tension Bast is reserved yet endearing Kai, often brash, adds a rough edge to the mix; Talian, with his own whitty charm, rounds out this unconventional household.
Aeri’s new friend, Lea, quickly becomes her confidante, adding a supportive element to Aeri's journey. And, of course, there's Ruin, her stoic yet intriguing mechanic, who hints at more than just automotive skills.
This phenomenal story brims with tension, desire, unexpected connections, and endless possibilities yet to unfold. It’s a must-read, bound to become a top-tier series you won’t want to miss!
I ate this book up. I know a lot of people wait until they have the next book, because they don’t like the cliffhanger… but man, it is so delicious… and it has such wonderful anticipation woven into it. SH does a great job of giving us subtle hints along the way…. Such as the possessive boyfriend isn’t all who we think he is at first…. And then the surprises keep coming until the end. Its one of those books where you watch the percentage go up and you’re at 93% and there’s no way you’re going to get answers or resolution, so you know the end is coming. And then the author just pulls the rug from under you… and goes YOU’LL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL NEXT TIME TO FIND OUT!!! Hahahaha. Some cliffhangers I enjoy, some I roll my eyes at. This one I enjoyed. And I have no idea how the guys are going to get our FMC out of this pickle. And what’s so special about our FMC that has all her demons/devils and an angel all tied up in knots about her… she’s only mortal after all… right? A few hints thrown in the book give me ideas, but that’s the fun of it, can’t wait to see how it plays out. I enjoyed this book immensely, and can’t wait for the next one to come out.
Aeri is haunted and hunted by the man her family gave her to, and finds temporary solace in a small town with friendly new faces and a well-kept secret. Answering an ad for a roommate brings her to a penthouse with some sinfully handsome guys. Finding out her new coffeehouse bestie is making bank working at a club, Aeri starts working at Purgatory and only gets herself in a deeper hole when she learns she didn't run far enough. It's a good thing her new roommates are willing to risk more than their time on Earth to protect her.
Aeri was resilient and took a lot in stride. Car blows up on the run? Check. Smoking hot roommies? Check. Hunted by a literal otherworldly being? Check. The aforementioned hot roommies are also otherworldly? Double check. She never has one of those big freak out moments and seems to accept her new fate with every twist. We stan an adaptable girlie. The boys are growing on me, and I'm ready for everyone to give in to their feelings and have an r-rated cuddle puddle. Despite the sizzling tension, there's minimal spice, but there's definitely steam! I'm very interested in how those last few scenes carry over to the next book because cliffhanger.
A book that Sara writes will always be amazing, I mean, this book absolutely blew me away fully. I went in blind other than looking at the name and cover of the book, and damn it did not disappoint one bit. I was hooked the entire way through, and all I need and want is more, and I sure hope we get it.
The book follows Aeri, who had been on the run from someone for quite some time and ends up in a town looking for a place to stay and work while her car gets fixed. This is where she ends up rooming with 4 guys: Asta, Talian, Bast, and Kai, who all happen to be demons, and indeed, roomates from hell. This book was absolutely crazy, I did not predict one thing, and there were so many plot twists at every corner, which improved how much I loved the book in my eyes.
I loved Aeri and seeing how she is past and current times, and learning the truth about everything was shocking. I, for one, loved our "mechanic," Ruin, especially at the start of the book. The plot twist ending of this book was crazy and I can't wait to know what happens next. I need more of this universe, pronto!
This book left me speechless and looking for more. I knew it ended on a cliffhanger but that one was so unexpected....
First off I had no idea how complex this was going to be. Its a case of everything lining up in a perfect storm. Where Angels and Demons are at odds a human keeps the peace....well sort of.....
I love that each of the demons has such distinct personalities. You want a shy golden retriever? You want a brooding antisocial male? You want your playful one who knows everyone loves him? You want the Alpha male who you aren't really sure where he stands? You want the genuine guy who calls you a sweet name? You want a high energy new bestie who give you no choice but being friends? Welp they are all here and it is amazing.
I was constantly surprised by how this unravels and I need to know what happens next. Why did that ending happen because it makes no sense based on who was involved. I need answers immediately..... Ugh.
Read it because its amazing and nothing is quite as it seems.
This book was such an easy book to devour. The plot kept me intrigued the whole time, it was fast paced but had everything I wanted at the same time.
I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and being able to see the multiple points of view. I can’t deny, I did enjoy reading Aeri’s thoughts but the guys unhinged thoughts were something else entirely and I was here for it!
There’s so much tension, desire, unexpected relationships between characters and more. The guys are written so well and so incredibly individual which I find the lines sometimes blur in reverse harems but it definitely didn’t in this one. You’ll definitely struggle to have a favourite.
I swear I didn’t see half the things coming and that made the story that much more interesting. Plus I loved that this book was quite a lot of book & not as much spice. That cliffhanger ending was a brutal one and I demand book 2 lol!!
Running from Nightmares is Book one of the Roommates from Hell series, and what a fantastic start it is. Im always jumping at the chance to read a Sara Hinds book and when this one came about, I took it. This book grabbed me and didn’t let go. I love all the main characters. I don’t think I can choose a favorite between, Ruin, Asta, Kai, Bast, and Talian. Although right now I like Talian the least because of what he did (you will have to read the book because I don’t do spoilers). I love grumps so I automatically fell in love with Kai. At the same time, I love cinnamon rolls, so I automatically fell in love with Bast and Ruin. I can’t explain why I fell in love with Asta, maybe because he is the take-charge, no-nonsense type of guy, but also maybe I will treat you like you’re my queen. We shall see as the series plays out. I cannot wait for book two!
As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what I like you may not.
"Make no mistake, craving you is a weakness. One I in no way intend to continue to indulge past tonight, but it seems you had the right idea. I should have left before I got myself in trouble, but now it would seem it's too late, and you are too delicious to pass up."
Fallen angels, heaven and hell, demons, mortals. You can't ask for anything better Right! Well how about some powerful sexy demons. The icing in the cake.
This book had me hooked the minute I picked it up. The FMC runs from the nightmare of her arranged marriage. She becomes roommates with 4 hot demons and has a hunky mechanic. You got twists and turn. People throwing wrenches into plans. I can't wait to read book 2 to see if she can endure the mess that book 1 ends with. And these men can try to lie all they want but this little mortal has wormed her way into their black hearts 🖤
There is a lot of scene setting to begin with as Aeri is on her own but once the other characters appeared and the dialogue was flowing I was hooked. This is a slow burn paranormal romance but something tells me when these guys fall they are going to fall hard! They are all at different stages of intrigue/attraction/denial at the moment and it kept things interesting on the romance front. I'm not quite sure how to feel about Oliver as that connection felt a bit off (had Aeri met Oliver first I would have a different opinion) but 4 stars for Asta alone! He's definitely my favourite. I like Aeri but I can't believe she ditched sweet Olga; I was totally expecting her to pop back up at some point. And the villain reveal??? LOVED IT.
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
Running From Nightmares is the first book in the Roommates From Hell series and follows Aeri as her car breaks down and leaves her needing to find work and somewhere to live for a few weeks before she carries on running from the person who is chasing her.
I personally found this book harder to get into than any of Sara Hinds other books I’ve read but once I got into the story I found myself totally addicted and couldn’t put it down. The story itself was great, I loved the twist at the end I didn’t see coming which has left me on the edge of my seat, already looking forward to the release of the second book. I loved the characters and the push and pull between them.
Overall, I found this book to be a thoroughly enjoyable read and a fantastic start to a new series. I would 100% recommend giving it a read.
This is the first book in Roommates from Hell series and it is absolutely 💯 phenomenal! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️ read for me! The introduction to the characters was brilliantly executed!
Aeri our fmc is on the run when her car breaks down. This puts a serious damper on her plans... now she needs a job and a place to stay. She feels her luck is taking a turn for the good when she finds a quick job and a place to stay with 4 roommates. Asta, Bast, Kai, and Talian. Oooo there's a mechanic aka Ruin... Add in a new friend Lea. Asta is bossy, Bast is shy but so perfect 😍, Kai is an ass mostly and Talian well he is Talian.
There are secrets, hot 🥵 demons, angels, spice, banter, and soul contracts. I literally stamped my feet at Lea and grrrr to the evil bad guy...
I need book 2 like I need to breathe! Beware of the cliffhanger!
I’m a sucker for all morally grey men and demons on top of it!? I melt. This is a dark why choose. The plot is great. There’s some suspense to it and I really like the concept. It’s different from other books I’ve read.
Sara writes the most swoon worthy men. All are so different from each other. We have some enemies vibes, unhinged moments and I gotta say…BAST I absolutely adore him.
"𝔸𝕟𝕪𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕖, 𝔸𝕖𝕣𝕚, 𝕒𝕟𝕪𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕟𝕖𝕖𝕕.”
I can’t wait to read about how the future relationships develop. Aeri is a great fmc, very strong and super sweet.
The spice was hot, I found this book more plot driven. I really loved it and can’t wait for the next!
Warning... This one ends in a minor cliffy, to some, it might be major, but it's really not that bad.
Aeri is on the run for her life, we don't know why at first, just know she's running from a man her parents forced her to date. She basically has the clothes on her back, a small bag or 2, and the meager money she was able to save before she went on the run.
Her car breaking down wasn't what she wanted or expected to happen, but maybe this could be a blessing? Enter a handsome mechanic that helps her in more ways than one and a few demons/devils that run a club and need a human.
Be ready to be kept on the edge, you won't know what's happening at times or how they pieces fit, but when they do, boom light bulbs going off everywhere.
Hot guys everywhere, what is a girl to do? Enjoy it I say! There are some triggers, so be aware of them and go in with your eyes wide open.
Running From Nightmares is the first book in the Roommates from Hell series. This ends in a cliffhanger.

Aeri is on the run and breaks down in a small town. After clicking with a mechanic named Ruin. They become instant besties. Deciding to stay a while, she finds a new place to stay with her four new roommates, Bast, Talian, Kai, & Asta, what they didn't know was how much they needed her just as much as she needed them.
What a fun start to this series. It was a bit on the slower side, but everyone was super likable and I am super hooked! Definitely looking forward to reading the next book!!
I loved reading this first book of the series, laying all the groundwork for the next book.
Aeri is on the run and needs to get away as far as possible. Unfortunately, luck isn't in her favour when her car breaks, making her have to stop while it's being repaired.
She needs a job and somewhere to stay stat!
She is lucky to find a job and somewhere to live, the only catch it's 4 hot demons as her roommates.
These dark mysterious men are resistant to Aeri at first, but she has a way of getting under their skin.
And now the thing that she's running away from is catching up to her.
I was distraught with lea at the end with what she did!
I can't wait to read book 2, as this one pulled me, and I finished it in a day!
I wish I could crawl inside Sara’s brain and see what she has in store next for these character. She loves cliffhangers and this one is another for the books. Aeri is not the fmc we are used to from Sara’s stories and I’m excited to see how she grows not only individually but with the guys as well. I also and really interested in more of her backstory and who she really is. Also I mean I’m a sucker for demons and angels and masks… sooooo this is definitely right up my alley. Each of the guys are so different from the next and I can’t wait to see more of their personalities to come out. Being on the run isn’t easy and I applaud Aeri for trying to get away from her situation. I’ll be waiting on pins and needles until I can get more her story.
This book I devoured way too quickly… I swear I just started it… yep it’s one of those! You’ll be drawn in and just keep reading until you realise you should have been asleep hours ago - but it’s worth it!!
The characters are loveable, they make you laugh and also make you want to punch them for being horrible… it’s a journey and one I couldn’t put down or get enough of. I can’t wait for the next book.
You’ll meet (in no particular order): Aerilyn, Bast, Asta, Ruin, Kai, Tailon, Lea and butt-face (yeah not the name but you’ll agree).
It’s got fun, small town, city, coffee, bar/club and of course a little bit of smexy. Slow burn, so don’t expect it jumping off the page every chapter; and honestly it doesn’t need it.
Seriously Sara Hinds has become one of my favourite writers.
