BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Making Memories At The Cornish Cove' by Kim Nash.

Read and reviewed for Kim Nash, Boldwood Books, Book And Tomic and Rachel's Random Resources Tours.

Publication date 17th April 2024.

This is the third book I have read by this author. It is also the third book in the 'Cornish Cove' series but can be read as a standalone. I have also read 'Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove' (book 1 in this series) and 'Finding Family At The Cornish Cove' (book 2 in this series). I would highly recommend reading them all!!

This novel consists of 42 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case! It also contains a beautiful dedication to Kim's recently past Aunty Beryl, I'm so sorry for your loss Kim.

Yet another absolutely stunning page turner from the extremely talented Kim!! Well done Kim on an absolutely beautiful and perfect read!! This is the ideal beach read where you could sit there and turn around and just imagine the town coming to life around you.

This book is extremely well written with beautiful descriptions that completely drew me in. The synopsis and the cover match the storyline perfectly!!

I was absolutely landed to get stuck into this book after falling in love with Driftwood Bay in the first and second books in this beautiful series. I just knew this one was going to be just as stunning and I was not let down!!! The storyline itself completely swept me away. I absolutely adored the storyline and getting to know the lives of so many different people, seeing their relationships and friendships change and see how they react to secrets, heartache, changes, romance and everything else that goes on in this absolutely fantastic read!! Coming back to Driftwood Bay genuinely feels like returning to a much loved holiday destination where I cannot wait to meet up with old friends and make new ones discovering more about them each and every time. I had been to holiday in Cornwall in March last year where I fell in love with it and missed it before I read this book but OMG Kim has made me want to jump in the car and go straight back now!!! Thankfully I am returning to St Ives again in May so I don't have long to wait to return even though after this book it really does feel like I have this second returned after leaving there!!! Kim's evocative writing skills ensures the readers are absolutely sucked into the stunning storyline with the atmosphere and characters coming to life all around them.. I absolutely fell in love venturing back into Cornwall and Kim portrays life in a small town absolutely perfectly I became so invested in this book that it actually felt like going on a holiday and I absolutely dreaded coming to the end where I had to unpack my suitcase and get back to reality. It was an absolutely compelling and addictive heart lifting read that kept me turning the pages until late at night. I loved discovering the pasts and histories of the characters and the town and I was absolutely swept away in the story line. The town came to life around me and I cannot wait to return in the next book in this absolutely stunning series. This book really was an emotional rollercoaster ride that left my heartbreaking for Lydia, spitting my tea out while I laughed so much with some of the absolutely hilarious things Vi came out with, rooting for Lydia and Martin and much more. I can honestly say that at times I was laughing out loud at so many of the things the characters came out with and I ended up spitting out my tea on so many occasions I gave up attempting to drink while reading it at all!!! I have had an absolute week from hell and this book is exactly what the doctor ordered and it's made me feel so much happier and lighter so thank you so much Kim!!! This book is escapism at its best and is a perfect way to disappear into an amazing world for a while. It is one of those books that I just could not put down and drive everyone mad by walking around reading it every chance I got and ended up devouring it in one sitting!! This book would make an absolutely gorgeous movie which I would absolutely love to see!!

An absolutely gorgeous, page turning and addictive addition to a stunning series!! Don't even peek into this book until you've cleared your schedules as you won't

be able to put it down!!

Although this is the third book in the series I had would have had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

I was completely invested in the characters, along with the storyline, who were all, well almost all, absolutely fantastic with their own individual personalities and quirks. Every one of the characters had a part to play and they were all completely unforgettable. I absolutely loved meeting some of the characters from the first two books in this series 'Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove' and 'Finding Family At The Cornish Cove' along with some amazing new characters!!!
Each and every one of the unique characters I had previously met had already become like friends to me and it was lovely to add some more!!! I felt like I was leaving amazing people and friends and feel quite sad about that but am happy in the knowledge that this book is just the second book in this stunning series and I just can't wait to get stuck into more of these gorgeous books. I loved watching how so many characters and personalities from Driftwood develop and go from strength to strength from the first page to the last. I loved watching relationships change and develop and seeing how close knit many of them are. My heart completely went out to Lydia who seemed to go from one bad situation to another especially when she was already feeling so awful about the time she missed out with her daughter Meredith. Meredith is also going through her own problems struggling with the menopause and having relationship difficulties. I absolutely loved Martin who is Clem's father (Clem is Meredith's partner) who is such a sweet, kind gentleman who helps them both brighten up and feel better. It was amazing getting to know Dianne who had moved next door to Lydia while Celia (Dianne , with 2 n's sister) is off on a round the world adventure and it was lovely seeing her and Lydia get to know each other. Vi, honestly, make sure you haven't got any liquids near you (or need the toilet if your of a certain age) whenever Vi is about!!
I had previously met Lydia, Meredith, Martin, Clem, Vi and many of the other characters in this fantastic book including Gemma, Lucy, Occy and many more and I could keep meeting them time and time again and never get bored. I just absolutely adore this amazing community!! There are just so many wonderful characters that I could go on and on but this review is long enough!!! They all made me laugh, swoon, angry, cry, joyous and much more!!! All of these characters work absolutely perfectly together to make this a stunning page turner and I cannot wait to return to Driftwood to meet them again!!

Congratulations Kim on yet absolutely gorgeous success!!! I'm definitely looking forward to my next holiday to Cornwall and cannot wait for the next book in this series!!! This is the exact reason you are in my favourite author club and here is to your next success 🥂 !!!

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Kim's 'Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove' which is the first book in this series and one I have already read and if you enjoyed this book then I can guarantee you will love that one too. I would highly recommend reading it!!!

Overall this is a perfect, stunning, page turning beach or fireplace read with an amazing gang of characters that will sweep you away to the gorgeous town of Driftwood from the very first page to the end!

Lydia intends on spending time with her daughter, Meredith, but she finds so much more than their connection. A spritely septuagenarian, having been married five times, she never expected to find love yet again. Moving to Driftwood Bay was a huge adjustment for Lydia. This is for more than one reason. Not only had she lived in America for years, she was rather estranged from her daughter Meredith.

While a big part of this fabulous book shows the slow-burn of what develops between Lydia and Martin, Meredith's soon-to-be father-in-law, it was watching the relationship growth between mother and daughter that was the real draw to this story.

What a wonderful story of family, friendship, community and love. With moments of sadness, this truly engrossing one-sitting read by Kim Nash is a fabulous addition to the other books in the delightful Cornish Cove series. This amazingly-talented author could not have written Lydia's character any better. This warm and engaging story had a really heartwarming ending as it was filled with wonderful characters and is an excellent display of growth and relationships.

Many thanks to Boldwood Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Just sometimes, a book turns out to be everything you could possibly want it to be. The author’s writing, the characters she creates, the settings, the way she makes you feel – they’ve always made me love her books, but this one was something particularly special.

When Lydia, Meredith’s mother, first arrived in Driftwood Bay, she was a rather less than sympathetic character with a fractured relationship with her daughter – but she was ready to stay around and work on making amends for the selfishness of her past, and they’re very slowly achieving that mother-daughter closeness they’d both rather like. With five marriages behind her, Lydia is now in her seventies and determined not to fade into old age. She’s happier than she’s ever been, fiercely independent and self-sufficient (which can bring problems at times) – but she understands the importance of friendship and support, with the lovely Celia living next door (until she decides to spread her wings with an extended holiday, to be replaced by her sister Dianne – insisting on her two n’s, and just perhaps not quite as lovely…) and Martin (the father of Meredith’s partner Clem, still getting over the loss of his wife) always around for her to share thoughts and concerns. When a parcel arrives, a box found by her last husband when clearing the attic, it brings back so many memories, including the pleasure she used to find in dancing – and a forthcoming competition (with Martin as a rather less than accomplished partner) will provide the opportunity to get her dancing shoes out again.

But the book focuses on the wider community too – Gemma and her now thriving seafront cafe, her sister Lucy with her new baby, Meredith’s struggles with the change of life (and its impact on her relationship with Clem – and his reaction to it all, that only made me love him more than I already did…), and local character Vi who is giving all the signs of struggling a little. Every single character is quite wonderfully drawn and entirely real, however peripheral to the story – and the bonds and ties between them quite perfectly captured. But I had a particular affinity with Lydia – she was so very easy to identify with (ok, other than the five husbands…), her voice clear, authentic and consistent, her thoughts and fears very recognisable and with real resonance to any reader of a similar age. Oh, if only I had a Martin though – through sharing her early morning yoga on the beach, the preparations for the dance competition, and working alongside him at the “repair shop” he’s set up in the local church, their friendship slowly deepens and I absolutely loved every moment.

The author’s emotional touch is absolutely perfect – there’s plenty of lightness and humour but this was a book that really made me feel, written from the heart, with people I really grew to care about. And yes, there were moments that brought a tear to my eye too – especially, but certainly not exclusively, where the mother-daughter relationship was the focus. With the warmth that radiates from its pages, the fresh starts and second chances that were so moving and believable, and the individuals who became my closest friends, this was a book that I entirely loved – read it as a standalone, or as part of the lovely series, but it’s a book I really can’t recommend enough.

Some authors write books that have the ability to envelop you like a hug. Kim Nash, with authentic characters and touching plots, often manages this, and, without question, Making Memories at the Cornish Cove continues her streak.

In her third standalone book in the Cornish Cove series, Nash returns to the nearly perfect Driftwood Bay community, this time focused on Lydia, a five-times married septuagenarian who hopes of strengthening the bond between her and her daughter, Meredith. Nash revels in Lydia's voice, revealing a somewhat cheeky, though always considerate, woman who's still beating herself up over past choices. This results in several incredibly tender moments as Lydia attempts to navigate instances bitten by regrets while also discovering just what she wants in life. Though that's not at all to suggest this book is without fun—Nash's practically trademarked sense of humor is on full display, and Lydia, along with her cadre of friends and neighbors, are quick to offer genuine laughs.

It also helps that the plot moves along at a clip. While the mother-daughter relationship is always at least peaking out from the backburner, Lydia finds herself helping an aged friend with a big secret, repairing toys alongside her new and handsome neighbor, Martin, and even managing a sudden health scare. The bulk of the action, though, rests on the desire to relive her former dancer days, eventually roping Martin into entering a competition as her partner. Lydia's desire to do something for herself and attacking it with such passion is one of the biggest highlights of the book—though Nash certainly doesn't make it easy for her.

Above all, Making Memories at the Cornish Cove serves as an uplifting portrait of making the most out of a new chapter in your life. As Lydia gets tossed around in a world that won't seem to slow down, it's impossible not to cheer her on as she dances to her own beat. It's an utterly heartwarming read.

I received a free ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Generally steering clear of books with silver-haired protagonists, I was a bit unsure whether I would enjoy this read from Nash. Lydia, in her seventies and five husbands down, is a permanent fixture in Driftwood Bay in attempt to heal the relationship with Meredith (who readers get to meet in book one of the series). However, she still has a zest for life and I actually found myself warming to her very wise words.

It is clear that Lydia has lived her life to the full and I found her a really interesting character. She is not trying to solve any mysterious crimes or be any matchmaker, but she is a solid friend who imparts wisdom that even I found useful. I quickly warmed to her character and how much effort she is going to, ensuring that her daughter understands that Lydia is trying to make amends for the past. Her growing friendship with Martin sees Lydia renew her interest in sewing, helping to restore a number of items for the community. An opportunity to take part in a dance competition allows Lydia get even closer to her daughter and Martin, and I really enjoyed seeing her grit and determination – even when things start falling apart.

Things are not all plain sailing for Lydia and for most of the novel there is a cloud of sadness overhanging her character. I was worried this would make for a more grim read but I think the writer handles this with the sensitivity it deserves. Yes, there is a happy ever after, but I think Lydia’s experiences in the novel just make her more vivid and relatable – she is one of us who, even in her seventies, doesn’t always find life easy.

It was lovely to see the familiar faces of Driftwood Bay, as well as several new ones (who I hope will feature in later books in the series). By now, it feels like you are returning to a welcoming community and this light-heartedness is generally recognisable once more in this story. I have grown to like Nash’s writing style and this gentle narrative was a welcome break for a chaotic time of year. The seaside setting provided some much needed escapism and I especially liked how Vi and Dianne added some comic relief.

I think this book was written from the heart and I would like to think that some of Lydia’s words of wisdom were a true reflection of Nash. The importance of friends and family is paramount in this book and I think I even took some things away from this story that I could apply to my own life – Lydia has some useful mantras that I believe plenty of readers will aspire to.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When I was thinking about how to start this review, I contemplated saying something along the lines of my destination not being as exotic as some of my recent reads which were set in Greece and Italy, but that probably isn't really fair. I mean, if I got offered a trip to Cornwall I wouldn't really say no!

This is the third book in the Cornish Cove series and this book stars Lydia, who is the mother of Meredith (aka Mere), the main character in the second book. Lydia has moved to Driftwood Bay from America after her fifth marriage failed. However, Lydia has spent quite a bit of time working on herself and so finally finds herself settled in the town and building on her relationship with her daughter.

She enjoys her routine in town, which includes yoga on the beach and spending time with her neighbour and other friends including Martin, who Mere's partner's father. What she knows is that she has no intention of getting romantically involved with anyone - five husbands is more than enough for her, thank you very much!

Not content with getting us all obsessed with lighthouses, now Kim Nash has turned our heads to dancing!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two books in the Cornish Cove series, and this third was a wonderful addition. In Makin Memories, we focus on Lydia, the mother of the first Cove main character, Meredith.
Lydia is a woman of a certain age. In her seventies, she has been divorced several times and finally wants to put herself first. She is sent a box of old belongings that starts a cascade of memories from when she fell pregnant with Mere, and feelings arise once it starts.
Lydia loved dancing competitively, though no one knew this. An opportunity to take part in a competition brings many thoughts back to the forefront of her mind, including how she could improve her relationship with her daughter and whether, at 71, she is too old for romance.
What a lovely story! Easy to read and such fun, with plenty of revisits to the characters from the first two books, but enough in them for you to read as a stand-alone.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.

I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review…

Making Memories At The Cornish Cove is actually book number three from the ‘Cornish Cove’ series, but can very easily be read as a stand alone without any problems at all.

This was a gorgeous slow-burn romance and was full of a sense of community with lots of wonderful characters coming along for the ride…

The setting was lovely and Driftwood Bay not only sounded warm and inviting but turned out to be the perfect place to live…

I loved being part of this story and felt like part of the community and really enjoyed everything about it…….

Worse one of the series :( so predictable, repeats itself throughout, same romance as the first two books the way it’s written. The main character who you hear about in the first book and briefly meet is so utterly different to this book - there’s no connection through the storylines of the books. I will read in to finish the series and I hope it’s different and not another same storyline just different people.

This is Kim Nash’s third book in the idyllic Cornish cove series. This is a community so lush you hanker after upping sticks and moving there. How lovely was it to be back in this beautiful community with all the fabulous characters from books 1 and 2 - I so want to move here!

Lydia and her daughter Meredith are the key characters in Making Memories at the Cornish Cove. Lydia having moved to Driftwood Bay to be closer to her daughter Meredith, who we met in book 1 when she arrived with a bang as the new owner of a run down lighthouse.

I was instantly dragged into their relationship, which was tentative and built on uneven footings to say the least. Lydia having left the upbringing of Meredith to her mother, Merediths grandmother, whilst she moved away, living her life from a distance, and getting through husbands at a rate of knots - five in total- that was some going!

Surprisingly, considering the character that Lydia was in the life before we meet her in Driftwood Bay, I really liked her from the off. Having reached her 70’s and determined to right past wrongs and make it up to Meredith, we the reader walk the tentative path with her as she gets to know the absolutely gorgeous character that Meredith is. They respectfully danced around each other as they got to know the things about each other, the things that others take for granted having learnt them over a lifetime.

As with books 1 and 2, book 3 is all about friendship, kindness and a community that comes together to hold each other up when needed. The supporting cast of characters in this story are just as delightful. In this story Kim Nash touched a few raw nerves for me, I could have been reading about myself when reading about the things Meredith was feeling and suffering with on her own, I’m sure there other women of a certain age out there who will have felt the same. Both Clem and her mum proving to be the rock she needed, supporting her and being there at just the right time, whilst keeping a respectful distance too.

The pages of this delightful story are filled with sadness and heartache but as ever peppered with humour and kindness, as well as what you always find in a Kim Nash book, a hearty helping of truth and reality. I absolutely loved it. I particularly loved the friendship that grew between Martin, Clems widowed dad and Lydia as they become tentative dance partners after entering a competition. It really was an uplifting read.

I have loved all of Kim’s books but this one is definitely her best yet. I said that last time when I read book 2 but this one really is the best yet!!!! This was a truly, touching story that spanned the ages and was a joy to read. Through Meredith and Lydia, Kim shows that it’s never too late to build bridges and mend fractured relationships with love, kindness and an open heart. This was a positive feel good book that I’m glad I had the opportunity to read, in a busy world this was a perfect little bit of escapism with more than a touch of reality.

Thank you too Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for letting me join the blog tour.

What another fabulous book in the Cornish Cove series this one is. Returning to some of the characters to catch up with things going on in their lives as well as learning more about them and newer characters is great.

This one focuses on Lydia, she is Meredith's mum and they have reconnected after many years. There is a past that gradually emerges and it is a chance for pasts to be dealt with. Lydia is enjoying being in her 70s and she is a very capable lady who does not feel old and has plenty of things to look forward to. She is given the chance for some new opportunities and a chance to do something she thought she never would. She has been married before and she is deciding if she needs a relationship or if she is happy in her own company. Living in this community of Driftwood is a way of finding herself if you like.

Along with Lydia and Meredith, we have Clem and his Dad Martin, a new neighbour and the vocal and wonderful Vi. Everyone needs a Vi in their lives, and they probably know someone similar... I am saying nothing about who she occasionally reminds me of! I think this is wonderful about this author's characters, they feel familiar and that is not just through reading the books in order, but that they do remind you of people you already know in everyday life. I think this is what makes this series so good and for me, it means the balance is right.

With new starts and fresh opportunities, things are going well, but there are some more serious aspects that the author brings in. This does leave a cloud over things and these are dealt with as any of us do in reality. We dwell and overthink and wonder about the what-ifs. Don't think this means the book is down and moody because it never is, the author knows her characters too well to let them suffer in silence. They do live in a close-knit community after all.

There are some wonderful heartwarming moments in this book and I will admit to a tear or two at some scenes. This is a fabulous book and would work as a stand-alone, but reading in order helps with the continuing stories of what are becoming regulars. One for fans of heartwarming contemporary fiction and romance, with some very humorous moments and great characters. I would definitely recommend this book.

This time round the story centres on Lydia, mum to Meredith who has moved to Driftwood Bay to be closer to her daughter and to make amends for not being a huge part of her childhood. Whilst mother and daughter have been getting on, it has been weighing heavily on Lydia’s mind and she wants to prove to her daughter that she is a changed woman and to have a great mother and daughter relationship.

Being on her own gives Lydia plenty of time to think about her life and the opportunities that she missed out on. What I loved most about this book is through Lydia as well as some of the other characters, is that its never too late. Whether that be in taking chances and doing the things we always wanted to or finding love, it doesn’t matter what age you are, there is always time if you make the effort.

There are so many wonderful characters and this is a place that has it’s community spirit at the heart of it. Everyone looks out for each other whilst being a reminder that its good to let people in and no one needs to struggle on their own. Vi is just a brilliant character who you never know quite what she will come out with and more than a few times she had my jaw dropping and doubled over with laughter. We all need someone like that in our lives. There would never be a dull moment that’s for sure! With Lydia being seventy one, and a young seventy one year old at that, it made me reassess the things that are really important in life and how companionship is a truly wonderful thing.

Making Memories at the Cornish Cove was such a beautiful and meaningful story that had me laughing out loud as well as feeling like my heart was going to burst with joy. It was an absolute tonic! I went through so many emotions and adored every moment of this wonderful novel. There are some authors and stories whose writing you just connect with on a different level and Kim Nash and her books does that with me. Funny, heartfelt, uplifting, just gorgeous!

My thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for inviting me to be part of the tour. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

Making Memories at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash
I was excited to read this book, as I loved the first book in the series (Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove) where we meet Meredith, who makes a new start in life by buying a lighthouse on impulse. This book (book three) features Meredith’s mum, Lydia and her story. Meredith is in there too, of course, so we get a chance to catch up on other characters and see how they are doing.
Lydia, lives at Bay View Cottage and is 71. I love older characters and Lydia is fab! She is divorced from Peter, her fifth husband.
The community of Driftwood Bay is wonderful. I love finding out who everyone is, how they get on and what they do. There’s such a great cast of characters here, but a few need special mention.
There’s Martin whose job reminds me of The Repair Shop on TV and I enjoyed finding out about the projects he was working on and their stories. He suggests him and Lydia enter the local dance competition and this brings forth a load of memories from Lydia’s past.
Lydia’s next door neighbour Celia is a similar age to Lydia and has a wonderful array of animals - two horses, four goats, chickens and a dog called Hobson. Her sister Dianne is moving in to look after the house and animals while Celia is away. We find out about her in this story.
Finally, special mention to the brilliant Vi. I love her, she’s hilarious! (Just don’t give her a letter to post!)
I can really relate to Kim’s writing, especially her authentic characters, wit and humour. I was already laughing along at page 2 at a situation I could relate to with delivery drivers. Her writing is an absolute joy to read, the warmth comes off the pages and you can tell she adores her characters. She tackles some serious subjects too, but everything is handled beautifully. Plus there’s the gorgeous setting. I think even I could be persuaded to do some early morning beach yoga if I lived there!
Another absolutely brilliant read from Kim Nash! Highly recommended.

Lydia is Meredith’s mum, and she has settled well in the bay. Except, sometimes she feels lonely, even though she keeps herself busy and involved in their wonderful community.

Martin is Clem’s dad, and he does a lot of restoration work, which Lydia also helps him with. They are the best of friends and are always having a laugh.

When Lydia’s neighbour, Celia, decides it’s time to go gallivanting off to Australia, she has her sister, Dianne, come to stay and look after all her animals. Dianne and Lydia soon strike up a great friendship, and Dianne is a source of comfort for Lydia, as well as being there for her through thick and thin.

When Driftwood Bay decide to put on a charity ballroom dance competition, Lydia ropes in Martin to be her partner. As expected, it’s not long before things go wrong and Lydia is left feeling devastated.

What can I say about this amazing book that I haven’t already said about the other books in this series?

It’s like coming home to your family and feeling all snug and cosy. I received a warm welcome back to Driftwood Bay.

What a character Vi is, she nearly caused me problems (due to my age) by laughing so much! She is totally inappropriate but hilarious in the way that only someone in their dotage can be.

I felt for Meredith going through the change. It is a hard thing for some of us women to go through, and I thought it was amazing of the author to bring it up and make it part of the storyline.

It was a lovely idea to have Lydia and Meredith still growing their relationship as mother and daughter, especially after the years spent apart. I could feel Lydia’s worry and unease at the past, I willed her to move on.

This is a tale of old and new, memories, and new beginnings. A story that made me laugh as well as shed the odd tear.

My thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

What a treat I've had. I got to read these books back to back. I reread the first book just to freshen myself with the characters and it was just as good the 2nd time around. I then dived into book 2, as soon as I finished that I started book 3. I could have happily continued if more books were available. I could read about Driftwood Bay, the characters and the goings on all day long. I want to live in Driftwood Bay.

I'm loving how the author has decided not to just focus on one couple/person through these books and has chosen to keep the area as a focus and allow us to follow the lives of the different character that live there.

In this outing we follow the life of Lydia. What a great character she was. After 5 husbands Lydia proves there is 'life in the old dog yet'. A repaired relationship with her daughter Lydia shows that if you can, you should. a great attitude to life.

By the time I had read this book I really felt like I'd spent time with some old friends. I felt like I knew so much about the characters that I actually knew them as people. Not just a beautiful read but a very realistic, uplifting, escapism read. I'm a huge fan of Crime thrillers but having read one of this authors books, I have had to read each and everyone since. There are not many authors that can take me away from my usual reads but Kim Nash has become a must read author for me and I will admit I often go in blind not having read what the book is about. I don't need to, I know I'll love it.

Get yourself a cuppa and a big piece of cake and get stuck in. This really is a beautiful uplifting read. Bravo Miss Nash for making me smile, laugh and maybe shed a tear or two. This series has been just the tonic I needed right now.

I have honestly loved each of the books in Kim’s Cornish Cove series and think that this one may very well be my favourite. Each of her books feature a range of ages, but this one focused on more mature characters for the central themes.
We first met Lydia in the first book in the series, when her estranged daughter moved to Cornish Cove having bought a lighthouse while scrolling through house listings accompanied by a few too many glasses of wine. Their relationship has slowly limped to the current status, which sees a glimmer of hope for a permanent ceasefire between mother and daughter.
A box from the loft of her former home triggers memories and a determination to take control of her future and includes a couple of moments when I actually howled with laughter. We soon learn that in her youth, Lydia was an accomplished dancer, and we get to follow the series of events that ensue when Lydia discovers an old dance dress and the matching shoes from her former life.
This is definitely an ensemble story with many familiar faces reappearing as the story unfolds. I think my favourite characters, beside getting to know Lydia, were definitely Vi and newcomer Dianne (with two n’s). They brought a breath of fresh air and some truly lovely doses of comedy. A special mention has to made to the gorgeous, platonic friendship that forms between Lydia and Martin. Martin operates a repair shop that is now based in the former church, and he finds his life interwoven with Lydia’s as they discover how deeply their connection is rooted.
There’s a lot packed into this delightful book from health scares, both physical and mental, for a few members of the community, to life-changing decisions and second-chance opportunities. Despite that, I never felt overwhelmed and instinctively knew that Kim would guide the story with a skilled hand.
This series is incredibly special, and I cannot recommend it enough.

What a delight! The Cornish Cove series by Kim Nash is such a wonderful, lovely, and heartwarming series. It is like a breath of fresh air. I love how this series focuses on community, friendship, family, relationships, and real-life issues. Like the other books in the series, Making Memories at the Cornish Cove is well written, charming, and a joy to read.

Lydia has moved to Driftwood Bay to be closer to her daughter, Meredith. After being married five times, Lydia is ready to focus on herself and the one love she gave up - dancing. She brushes off her old dancing shoes, finds a dance partner in Martin, a widower who owns the local antique restoration business.

I love how Kim Nash has the characters experiencing real life issues such as injury, loss, grief, health issues, marriage, and aging. I appreciate how her characters react and behave in realistic and understandable ways. As I mentioned above, I love the focus on community and friendship. This book has a positive and heartwarming message, it's never too late to start over or pursue your dreams. That second chances exist, humor is the best medicine, and there is power in positive relationships.

Delightful, heartwarming, and well written.

Making Memories at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

It’s never too late…

After five husbands and five broken hearts, Lydia feels like she’s always been chasing something. But now she’s found her purpose, and having moved to Driftwood Bay to spend more time with her daughter Meredith, she’s happier than ever.

But there’s still life in these old bones yet! With her newfound sense of identity, she’s keen to re-explore the things that made her happy as a younger person. Lydia’s passion was dancing – she used to compete in her younger years, and there’s no place she’s more at home than on the dancefloor.

So when widower and antiques restorer Martin tells her about a big dance competition, she’s ready and raring to bring more joy into her life. But while making memories with Martin, the more she realises that both of their hearts need restoring too...

My Opinion

Kim Nash is back with another delightful book set in Driftwood Bay. I have missed a book in this series but I was able to follow along with ease. This was a wonderful tale of friendship, family and community and it was such a heart-warming read. For me this was such an easy book to read, it had a great plot and some amazing characters - I mostly read this in short sittings and it was just so easy to dip in and out of. With some familiar characters from the earlier books returning to Driftwood is like coming to visit old friends.

Lydia lived in America most of her life and recently moved to Driftwood Bay. She wants to establish a relationship with her daughter Meredith, but that is easier said than done. Lydia and Meredith’s relationship understandably takes some time to flourish. Much time has been lost over the years past and it isn’t easy for them to turn back the hands of time.

Lydia not only wants her relationship with Meredith to grow, but the unexpected happens. Lydia has been divorced several times and she never expected to find love once again. Lydia meets Martin, who happens to be Meredith’s soon to be father in law. Not only does the relationship between Lydia and Meredith mend and grow but so does the friendship of Lydia and Martin.

This lovely story of family, friendship, reconciliation and new beginnings was an absolute delight. Driftwood Bay is a wonderful place to visit, very picturesque and full of amazing people. Life there seems so peaceful and it was an absolute joy to return there. I truly enjoyed all the wonderful characters in this story, however, my favorite was definitely Lydia. Author Kim Nash will draw you in to the story at the very first page and will not let you go. If you’re looking for a heartwarming story that hits all the feels, with a delightful ending, this is the book for you. This book is an amazing addition to the Cornish Cove series. I loved it and I know you will too.

Firstly before I get into my review I want to say what a beautiful dedication the author has written for this book. It’s so emotive and I certainly shed a tear seeing the love she has for her aunt. It really makes this publication feel like an honour to read, knowing it was written at such a difficult time. The letter to Aunty Beryl is just perfect. Sending love to Kim Nash.

My Review:
Kim Nash has such a beautiful way with words.

They flow so effortlessly that you can’t help but go through several emotions when you read her stories. Not only is she a beautiful writer she writes deep meaningful stories you can relate to whether it’s through elements of love, humour, friendship or elements of sadness that she portrays so delicately, which flow through her words.

Driftwood Bay sounds like an idealic seaside village to live, a beautiful place where life’s pace is calm and serene, where everyone is a friend and looks out for each other. The characters are all as important in their own right and with each book we are emerged back into a community of well written characters whose lives don’t stay still but have also progressed along with the main focus of the one character. I can wait to see who book four will be about.

If you want a new author to try you absolutely need it to be Kim Nash. She really is a phenomenal writer.

Well DAMN! I didn't realise this had been released and when I realised I made sure I downloaded it immediately. I don't read that many books in this genre but Kim Nash is an author who hits the spot every time! This is the third book in this 'series' if you can call it but you don't have to have read the others. However, the first two books set in the Cornish Cove tell you the stories of other people living in this beautiful place. This book we get to know more of Lydia. Lydia is Meredith's Mum (Book 1) and after a few husbands she has finally taken the plunge and moved back to the UK from the US and has set up home in the cove which means she lives nearer to her daughter.

Now Lydia is of a certain age and has been there and done it nine times out of ten she finds herself re-evaluating her life and what she wants from it. As per the other books we get to see all kinds of characters, some old and some new. Lydia decides to really focus on friendships, rebuilding her relationship with Meredith and really becoming part of the amazing community she lives in. As with any other book Kim Nash creates I didn't want to put it down and was truly sad when it was finished. Luckily for me, not only do I have another of this authors books to read, but the next book in this series is out on the 28th October named The Bookshop at the Cornish Cove!

Well, from the dedication right to the very end,
This was a great read in which time to spend.
So much resonated with what's happening in my life right now
It seemed especially pertinent somehow.
No, not relationship wise I'm pleased to say,
But some of what happens to Lydia along the way!

The community at Driftwood Bay has welcomed her there
Giving her time with her daughter to share.
There are also friendships developing, too,
And so many things she's starting to do.
There's also the chance to join in a competitive dance
If only she dare give herself the chance!

Introspection to acknowledge what brought joy in her life
And memories rekindled from times of strife.
A box full of mementoes, a journal and more
Help her to the past re explore.
Whilst Martin shares memories of his grief
Helps bring them both some relief

With anecdotes bringing laughter and a smile to my face
- especially the new post box that's such a disgrace -
Accidents, health scares, new schemes and more
Make this a fab read you shouldn't ignore!
I really enjoyed it and hope you'll soon try it to see
If you like it too and agree with me!

For my copy of this book I say a huge thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review!

In the Cornish Cove series’ latest installment, readers visit Lydia and Meredith’s new lives in Driftwood Bay in Cornwall. Seeing the move as a fresh start and a new beginning to Lydia’s post-marriage life (especially since she has married five times and had her heart broken each time), Lydia rediscovers her old habits and the things that brought her joy all those years ago: dancing. When another inhabitant of Driftwood Bay, widower and antiques restorer Martin, informs Lydia about a dance competition, Lydia sees this as her chance to live her life for herself and maybe find new happiness. With a charming and quietly cozy coastal setting and a cast of funny, lively, and unique characters, Nash’s novel is a perfect summer read for fans of romance and fiction novels with older protagonists. Matching the slower pace of life in Driftwood Bay, the pacing of this book is leisurely, but the adventures of the characters are not, as they live full lives within the pages of this novel. The characters star as the heart of the novel, and the relationships between Lydia and Meredith, Lydia and Martin, and many of the other characters in the novel are absolutely heartwarming and enjoyable to follow.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood books for the advance copy.

Making Memories at the Cornish Cove” is a super continuation of the story of Meredith and her no longer estranged mother, Lydia. Both now fully ensconced in life at Driftwood Bay.

Reading this is like returning to the arms of a loving family. Each character in the series has their own story to tell with secrets, often shared as they find the comfort and understanding of friends in the community .

As with all the books in this series, Kim interweaves joy with sorrow and delicately covers big issues such as teenage pregnancy, cancer, menopause and the loss of a partner.

I find it very refreshing that the main characters are not bright young things just starting out in life but older people, finding their way and in particular finding joy in all they do. Meredith is in her 50’s, her Mum her 70’s and Vi her 80’s all of these women are experiencing aspects of life that require a change of mindset and as the stories unfold we see how they cope, learning to accept support and friendship to forgive, forget and move forward mist of all to love themselves and all the changes that are occurring. I was completely absorbed whilst reading and particularly enjoyed the journey Lydia goes on as she rediscovers her delight and skills on the dance floor.

Thanks to Boldwood books for a Netgalley arc of this book.

Returning to Driftwood Bay this time the story is centred around Lydia, Meredith's mother, who has moved there to be near her daughter. To be honest anything set in Cornwall will grab my attention, and I also love stories set in small communities, but this isn't the only reason that I loved this book. Having the main character at a similar age to myself helps me with an insight into them, although there is a wide range of ages in the story, so you don't have to feel left out if you're younger. It is actually quite a deep book, showing how communication is so important in relationships, without being too heavy. There is a lot of dancing involved, something I know absolutely nothing about, but there is also a thread that anyone who has watched The Repair Shop can relate to. I'm really enjoying this series and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

"Making Memories at the Cornish Cove" by Kim Nash. What can I say other than I enjoyed it and read over a couple days. Who doesn’t want to escape to a small village by the sea...

The setting of a tiny village called Driftwood Bay sounded breathtaking, I could picture it especially as I have visited small villages along the coast of England. It had everything you could want in a story love, family, community and second chances.

I found the characters to be well developed, and multi-dimensional. There were multiple sub-plots like the dancing competition, the relationship with her daughter to keep you engaged and interested in the outcome. It’s a great series, and I can’t wait to pick up Meredith’s story in the next book!

I will definitely read other books by this author.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Boldwood Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Making Memories at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash and is the third book in the brilliant Cornish Cove series and it was another beautiful book from start to finish.
All of Kims books I have read especially this series has been written from the heart and this one was no different. This book was a beautiful, heart warming story that will take your mind to a better place especially if it is raining outside.
Once I opened this book on my kindle and started to read Making Memories at the Cornish Cove I wanted to be there, sitting at a little tea room eating Scones and cream with a pot of tea reading this book......and become apart of this story. This is why I love Kim's books.......

I loved it especially as it is a "down to earth book" and I highly recommend it.

A great holiday read and a welcome trip back to this part of the UK.

Big Thank you to Netgalley and especially Boldworld books for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Returning to Driftwood Bay was a pleasure and this time, the story focuses on Meredith's mother, Lydia, who has moved to be near her daughter and to rebuild their relationship. It was interesting to this from both sides, Lydia and Meredith and to see that often, Lydia anticipated Meredith's reactions and got it wrong. Meredith is her main motivation, but Lydia also feels that there may be other aspects to her life to explore. She wants to be a nurturer, to have people to care for and look out for.
Friendship and family are so important and there are plenty going on in the community to fill the story with some amusing moments, especially where Vi was concerned. Lydia's growing friendship with Martin allows you to glimpse the younger Lydia as she reconnects with dancing. Lydia is a character with a lot of baggage but she proves to have a kind and caring heart.
In short: a warm, uplifting tale.
