When Jill Morgan left Tempest Island after high school, she didn’t know what she wanted to do the rest of her life. The only thing she’d ever loved was writing fiction, but that was a pursuit with no financial guarantees. So she did the responsible thing and got her college degree, then a job that provided a good living, and she wrote in her free time. She never expected to become a bestseller, but her books—written under a pseudonym—brought her millions of happy readers.

And a stalker.

When her identity is compromised, Jill decides to disappear until the cops can identify the man threatening her. Her first thought is returning to Tempest Island, one of the many places her father was stationed with the Navy, and the only one that had ever felt like home. Plus, she had connections there who could help her remain off radar. It was just a matter of time until the cops had her stalker in custody and Jill could get back to normal. But being on Tempest Island again brings back old memories and creates some new ones, forcing her to take a hard look at her carefully crafted life.

Can she build a new life for herself on Tempest Island? Or will the stalker end that journey before it even gets started?

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jana DeLeon was raised in southwest Louisiana among the bayous and gators. Her hometown is Carlyss, but you probably won't find it on a map. Her family owned a camp located on a bayou just off the Gulf of Mexico that you could only get there by boat. The most important feature was the rope hammock hanging in the shade on a huge deck that stretched out over the water where Jana spent many hours reading books.

Jana and her brother spent thousands of hours combing the bayous in a flat-bottom aluminum boat, studying the natural habitat of many birds, nutria and alligators. She would like you to know that no animals were injured during these "studies," but they kept makers of peroxide in business.

Jana has never stumbled across a mystery or a ghost like her heroines, but she's still hopeful.

She now resides in Dallas, Texas, with the most spoiled Sheltie in the world.

Our heroine has one mess of a life. I'm not a fan of all this but that is how Jana Deleon chose to write this character. She is just trying to stay out of the clutches of a stalker who has turned violent and not put anyone else she cares about in danger, but it all comes off with a martyr vibe and a coating of angst permeates the whole book. The last 10% of the book made reading it almost worth it. Almost, but not quite.

Jill Morgan is the only child of parents who were disappointed she is a girl. The only place they lived during her father's Navy career that she considered home was Tempest Island, Florida and the friends she made there became her true family. After a disaster of a relationship in college, she changed her name and moved across the country, hiding from her crazy ex. Writing was always her true passion, and she became a best-selling author while still keeping her true identity a secret. But her author persona has attracted a fanatic and for the last five years they have been sending her disturbing cards. Now the stalker has turned violent, and Jill is again on the run fearing what might happen if this person ever caught up with her.

She returns to the place and people she loved the most and has found a refuge there where she can hide until the police catch the crazy harassing her. But keeping her presence a secret on an island where everybody knows everybody's business doesn't work when Jill has an accident and needs help. The handsome Navy doctor, Pete McCord, has her rethinking her isolated existence and yearning for a different live, but that just isn't possible when the stalker is closing in on her.

Don't Read The Last Eight Chapters Right Before Bed!

I am a huge fan of Jana Deleon and have read all of her books to date. She is one of those talented rarities who can write belly splitting laughter, hot romance, and pulse pounding terror equally well. "Undertow" does not disappoint.

Ms. DeLeon creates likable, relatable, unforgettable characters. She writes both very strong, capable females and very strong, capable men secure enough to cope with loving women who frequently match, or outdo them in sheer badassery.

"Undertow" is another fine installment in the Tempest Island series. I loved it. That said, I strongly suggest that you do not read chapters 18-25 right before bed. Three Tums had NO effect.

Wowzah!

If anyone could possibly put this book down after starting it, I don't know how. I was a nervous wreck all the way through. I have been a huge fan of this author for years and have read everything she has written, but in my opinion, this series is next-level! I can't wait for the next ones.

Another great book from Jana!

I love Janas writing style. You quickly fall in love with the characters, and Jana keeps you on your toes wondering what will happen next. I love how Tempest Island has that small town feel, where everyone knows each other and help each other. A perfect mystery/thriller without all of the added sex/vulgarity.

⛵🌊Holy hell this book is reaching 20% and still not really starting! Why do we need every tiny detail of every freaking thing? I know everything about this towns sand to sky to woods of her furnitures.

⛵🌊Ok now we're adding secondary characters pov cause we ran out of unnecessary details of Jill.

⛵🌊They're conversing...a lot. But still the spark is not there.

⛵🌊Almost 60% of the book, now Jill's story feels like a subplot.

⛵🌊Why would you roam around a town you grew up in without a disguise if you want no one to recognize you

⛵🌊Yeah announce it to the whole town that's she's staying with you, why don't you? It's not like she got some stalker or anything....

⛵🌊I get the remote place might have been safe but alone while injured? Nah that's just dumb for plots sake.

⛵🌊It took 4days of procrastination to pick this book up and finish the epilogue.😒

great cliffhanger!

In keeping with the other 2 Tempest Island novels this is a romance hidden inside a thriller. The female lead, a well known author who writes under a pseudonym, has spent 5 years running from a stalker. She changed her real name, as well as having her writing pseudonym, but that only gives the police 3 possible sources of where the stalker comes from & they explore every one. In the meantime our heroine is falling in love with the naval doctor who has stepped in to treat her after a badly twisted ankle. Good read for a dull day which needs excitement! It does make me miss the Shayne Archer series…..I would love to read a final book in that series. Please?

I had high expectations for this book, seeing the ratings. All started out well. Soon, though, I knew it was the same type of book I dislike: much internal dialogue, cardboard characters, profanity, and insta-romance (with words like "rippling biceps"). The cherry on top was the extreme predictability. I did force myself to finish. Another thing: the unending repetition of facts makes me wonder just how stupid the author thinks her readers are. Or is it laziness, to make a page quota? I've given 2 stars instead of one because it was fine for the first 15-20%.

I don't think the romantic pair had enough interaction before instalove or whatever it is. The internal dialog of the heroine was indistinguishable from the first heroine in the series. Just bored.

Also in this day and age the woman who makes a career out of marrying and alimony is not a thing to be admired. It's no different that a man marrying a woman because of how she looks on his arm. I don't find these characters cute or adorable.

Fun romance mystery for a quick rainy weekend read

A great cozy beach mystery full of twists and turns, believable characters and gentle romance in on an island in the Gulf of Mexico. Couldn't put it down. Five stars. Can't wait for more from an author I just discovered Kindle surfing. Highly recommend.

4.0 stars

How often can you say this was your least favorite book in a series and still give it 4 stars? That is how much I love Jana DeLeon’s writing. Both narrators were fabulous. The resolution was partially expected. However, I was still shocked by the twist at the end.

I look forward to the next book in this series. RECOMMEND!

Loved this Tempest Island Series

I read all 3 books in this series and I loved every one of them. This author keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. A few surprises you didn't see coming too. I love her style of writing. I am just sad I have finished reading all three. I am hoping more are coming out in the future.

I'm enjoying Jana Deleon's Tempest Island series. All are similar with someone stalking a woman that returns to Tempest Island and the friends all circle the wagons to ensure they are safe. Of course you have to love the navy men that are there to be the heroes as well ... though the women are very capable handling just about anything and are successful to boot!

Undertow

Loved this series. I want to live on Tempest Island with these characters, Bea's
Book Store and Birdie's ice cream shop and Alayna's restaurant.

I am in love with Fortune's series too but really don't want to live in the Bayou. But love to meet Fortune. Ida Belle. Bertie even Ronald. It is official you are one of my favorite writers. More please!!!

I am loving this series. There’s romance, suspense, mystery and thriller all wrapped into one what’s not to love? You can read it by itself or read the entire series. You don’t want to miss out on this one for sure though

Great

As with all of her books I couldn't put it down. It's as if you know them an you can't wait for their trouble to end. The bad part is that also ends the book. On the look out for more books of all my friends so I can laugh and cry with them.

Excellent read but...

I love all Jana's books. But I was hoping this third one would build on the stories of the first 2. Not another one with the same plot line. but it was a joy to repair it.
