Gabbi lives in beautiful British Columbia where her fur baby chin-poo keeps her safe from the nasty neighborhood squirrels. Working for the government by day, she spends her early mornings writing contemporary, gay, sweet, and dark erotic BDSM romances. While she firmly believes in happy endings, she also believes in making her characters suffer before finding their true love. She also writes m/f romances as Gabbi Black.
This book contains two stories, Blue Sky Boyfriend about Tate and Wyatt, and Fly Guy Boyfriend about Tex and Third (Davey). Both are set in or near Mission City, a Canadian town located about an hour outside Vancouver B.C.
The first story is the tale of Tate and Wyatt, best friends and lovers in high school, separated for 15 years but now back in the same town, trying to decide if something is still there. Wyatt had stayed to run the family farm while Tate had left for prestigious schools and a life in London, which fell apart, sending him back to Canada, where he inadvertently got involved in a scandal that sent him home in disgrace. The two men tentatively spend some time together and find the physical attraction hasn’t waned, but is it possible to get past the hurts of the past to look toward a future together. Only time, communication, and understanding will tell.
Fly Guy Boyfriend is the second story about Davey (also called Randy and Third), a student getting his PHD in quantum physics at the University of British Columbia, and Tex (also known as Dallas), a helicopter pilot working for Davey’s father. Tex is sent to pick up Davey and bring him home for the weekend, unaware that Davey is petrified of flying. Tex gets Davey to calm down by letting him hold onto his leg the whole flight, demonstrating to Davey that this is a man who cares for and tries to protect others, and is someone he might be able to trust. Things are not all good with Davey’s family, and Tex offers the support Davey needs. Both men have a strong case of like for each other, which quickly grows to more, but will that be enough to build a future on?
The characters in both books are relatable and easy to root for, situations are basically realistic, and both relationships move forward quite quickly, leading to HEA. A quick, low angst read for a satisfying evening. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

Tate and Wyatt had it all when they were just kids, a love that was forever. But they wanted different things and went in different directions. After ten years, Tate comes home, and their hearts pick up where they left off. There are a lot of things that need to be addressed, but the fire between them is still there, and even though Wyatt was crushed, he is willing to let Tate put him back together again.
Tex came home from the military with a pilot’s license and hopes. What he found was a decent job and a feeling of being unsettled. He is happy enough, having plenty of options to scratch the itch he always feels; being pansexual, it's easy to find partners, and every single one of them is special. When he meets Davey, he suddenly realizes there is so much more to life. The gentle genius is exactly what his heart needs to be full, and a future with the boss’s son is what he needs.
OPINION: These are two short stories that give you the groundwork of Mission City. They are both packed full of great characters, which you only scratch the surface of, but I easily got invested in them. Their stories are simple backgrounds of some of the couples in Mission City, and you get a feel for the area itself. I loved both stories and the men in them. Since these are short stories, everything is accelerated, which is fine, but they could have each been full novels, and I would have read them. Both couples have plenty of spice, you won’t miss out on any of that. There are some great notable moments between the couples that make you smile. If you are reading or want to read the Mission City series, make sure to include these. They are a nice afternoon break with some fantastic couples.

The book contains two novellas. Both novellas are gay romance stories whose characters, though not closely related, are connected.
The first story is about a small-town farmer and a big-city rich (or at least once wealthy) man finding their way back to each other. Wyatt and Tate fell in love in high school, though they kept both their relationship and the fact that they were gay a secret at the time. The story is an easy read, not too long and although it touches on some serious topics, it doesn't dive too deep into them, just makes you feel their importance.
The second story, although similar in writing style, begins from a very different situation, which for me was a positive thing, that it was not two very similar novellas condensed into one book. Tex and Davey (or as Tex calls him, Third) meet during a helicopter ride. Their attraction for each other is quickly revealed, but the situation is far from simple, as the two men are completely different. For starters, for Tex, flying is everything, while Davey is terrified of it, not to mention their financial backgrounds and age difference. But the adrenaline-seeking pilot and the introverted scientist-in-training easily find their way together, and the only thing left is to convince themselves that, despite their differences, they are destined to be together.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading Mission City's love stories (if I could give 4.5 stars, I would), and would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a light reading or two fascinating small-town LGBTQ romances.
I enjoyed all the Love in Mission City books and this duet does not disappoint!

I do love Misson City and the boys that call it home. Two novellas in one yummy book.
Blue Sky Boyfriend
Wyatt and Tate had been clandestine boyfriends in high school, but as clandestine as they thought. Tate left town chasing his high-flying dreams. Prestigious schooling, climbing the ladder in high finance, husband, until the day the husband left, and his world crumbled. He left London and settled in Vancouver, B C. Things were looking up until he fell for a con and lost everything. At eighteen Wyatt and Tate couldn't meet each other's needs. Now, fifteen years later, they are facing the possibility of a second chance. This time will a small-town farmer be enough for Tate, and can Wyatt risk his heart again.
Fly Guy Boyfriend
Tex (Dallas) is a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie. A former Army helicopter pilot, he was medically discharged after a knee injury while playing touch football of all things. Didn't even get a good story out of it. He lives fast, plays hard, but there is more to Tex than he shows the world. Third (Davey AKA Randy) has recently finished his master's degree at MIT in quantum physics and has returned to Vancouver to earn his PhD at UBC. His father is pushing him to take over the family business, and his stepmother is pushing him to marry her niece, he just wants to be left alone to live his life. Tex steps in to protect Third have his six.

This is a sweet and very sexy duet of two male couples who find each other in their own special ways. First, we have Wyatt, who stayed home on the family farm, and Tate, who left and made it big. Tate was the love of Wyatt's life, and now he's back, completely broken. How they reconcile the hurt and distrust is very well-written and heartfelt. The love is still alive after all those years. Tate is goofy, and Wyatt is serious, but both are sad and find new reasons to be happy again. Second, there is helicopter pilot Tex and his passenger and boss's son Davey, a physics PhD student. They couldn't be more different on the surface, but both have fears to face, and they help each other to do what needs to be done. They also fall in love so sweetly. Tex is a cinnamon roll who cares for his damaged young man after he comes out to his family. These two fell in love so quickly, but the author made it believable. Gabbi gets so much emotion into these novellas--a sign of a great writer.

Mission City, a small town in British Columbia, is home to Gabbi Frey's amazing cast of characters. Duet adds two more couples to the group. The stories are novella length with lots of worldbuilding, character development, and steamy times. At sixteen, Wyatt and Tate were great friends who developed into lovers. At eighteen, they split, Wyatt to his family farm and Tate to big city life. This is a second chance story with a bit of angst. And lots of steam. And a dog, a service dog failure who is Tiffany of Healing Horses ranch. Just a totally sweet tale. Helicopter pilot, Tex, has a bum knee and a job that doesn't give him a lot of air time. Davey is earning his PhD in Quantum Physics, socially awkward and unimpressed with his dad's wealth. They quickly fall in love over two weeks time. Davey triggers Tex's white knight tendencies and Davey pushes Tex to go for his dream. Another sweet story. A quick read, very enjoyable. Hopefully there will be more Mission City stories. I received an advanced copy and this is my review.
This book includes two heartwarming stories set in Mission City, a Canadian town near Vancouver, B.C.
The first story, Blue Sky Boyfriend, follows Tate and Wyatt, high school sweethearts reuniting after 15 years apart. Tate left for a career in London that ultimately crashed, while Wyatt stayed to run the family farm. Now, back in their hometown, the two tentatively reconnect, finding that the spark is still there. But they must confront their past to see if they can build a future together.
The second story, Fly Guy Boyfriend, centers on Davey, a quantum physics PhD student with a fear of flying, and Tex, a helicopter pilot who works for Davey’s father. During a flight home, Tex calms Davey’s nerves, showing him a protective side that sparks trust and attraction. As family tensions rise, Tex offers Davey the support he needs, and their connection quickly grows.
Both stories feature relatable characters, realistic situations, and low-angst romance, leading to heartfelt happily-ever-afters. Perfect for a quick, satisfying read.
I am a big fan of stories where one MC is a city person and the other is a small town person. Grey here does a wonderful job of giving us the small town setting of Mission City and combining this trope with the second chance romance one. Wyatt and Tate were best friends with an excellent chance of becoming more, but Tate left for the big time while Wyatt stayed behind. When things don't work out for Tate, he comes back home and these two have to get reacquainted, reestablish the trust that was broken and figure out if they still work together as a couple after the changes due to age and differing experiences. In the second story, we meet Davy, a physicist (yay!) who comes home to a complicated family situation via helicopter. Unfortunately, Davy is terrified of flying. When Tex, the chopper pilot helps Davy through the trip, a tentative bond is formed and when things go south with Davey and his family Tex is there again to help him through. Wonderful setting and characters and I look forward to more Mission City stories.
This book contains two novellas, Blue Sky Boyfriend and Fly Guy Boyfriend. The characters in both stories are likable and I enjoyed their storylines. The first one told us about Wyatt and Tate who had been high school sweethearts until Tate went off to the city and Wyatt remained in their hometown to work the family farm. After many years away, Tate finally returns home. Will Wyatt offer him a second chance to restore their relationship?
In the second story, we have the meeting of a helicopter pilot Tex and a young man afraid of flying. In his unique way, the pilot reassures Davey and gives him confidence. When Davey’s family is not so loving, will his caring pilot be more receptive and welcome him? Will Davey find this is where he wants to be?
The stories are well written and enjoyable. Grab your copy and find out whether each story will lead to a HEA.
This two book set was well-written and had genuine emotion and connection. In Blue Sky Boyfriend, Wyatt and Tate got a second chance at love. You could tell how much they were attracted to each other from the start and then after they met again when they allowed themselves to feel something real. It was satisfying to watch them fall in love for the second time, even among all the chaos and problems that had arisen. In Fly Guy Boyfriend, Tex was sweet and a good man, and Davey was troubled, but very redeemable. The MC’s had a good dynamic and their opposite personalities attracted, which was interesting to experience. You could see the attraction is very mutual; you could tell how they were both falling for each other and that it was more than just physical. I love this author’s writing style, and these books were well worth the read.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a difficult book for me to review. First off, the book is well written and easy to read. It contains two novellas. The first is Blue Sky Boyfriend. This is the story of two high school sweethearts who meet again later in life. I have read this story before but didn't realize it right away. I have to say that it just didn't grab me. I couldn't relate to Tate's character. I ended up skimming in parts just to finish. I found this story okay but forgettable. The next one is Fly Guy Boyfriend. I just loved this book. I was invested in both Tex and Davey. I loved watching their relationship grow. I really enjoyed this story. Overall it is a good book. So I averaged the two scores into a 4 star.

There are two enjoyable novellas in one book. Blue Sky Boyfriend This is a lovely second chance romance. Wyatt is a small town farmer whose heart was broken by Tate when they were both 18. Tate is coming back to town with his tail between his legs. I enjoyed the writing and seeing how they make their way back to each other.
Fly Guy Boyfriend Tex flies helicopters but Davey, a scientist, is terrified of flying, so at first glance it does not seem like a match made in heaven. But it's wonderful to see how these two men support each other and how Davy helps Tex achieve his dreams.
In both stories, I enjoyed the secondary characters as much as the main ones, and the plots are enjoyable and well paced. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wyatt and Tate were inseparable during their youth but went their separate ways after. 15 years later Tate had made a mistake that brings him back to town. They meet and discover their feelings haven’t changed. This story moved very fast from just meeting to living together. I was a bit unrealistic but given this is a novella it makes sense.
Tex and Third (Davey) was similar but different dynamic. Tex is the employee of Third’s wealthy father and sees the distance between Third and his wants compared to his family’s wants. Again everything moved in an unrealistic manner but the story was well written with emotional needs being thrust to the fore.
This duet contains the stories: Blue Sky Boyfriend Fly Guy Boyfriend
I really enjoyed these two stories. I've read Blue Sky Boyfriend in an anthology last year, but Fly Guy Boyfriend is new to me. Both were really cute stories with likeable characters and good chemistry. I actually liked Fly Guy more. Here is my original review for Blue Sky:
Blue Sky Boyfriend
'Seeing Tate nearly stole my breath. I fingered the inhaler in my pocket.'
I enjoyed this story. I liked both Wyatt and Tate. This was definitely a second chance romance and a bit of an emotional read that dealt with forgiveness and redemption. These men have history, and it was nice seeing them catch up and get reacquainted after 15 years apart. 4 stars.
This treasure was such a joy to read! Although I think I may be leaning more towards Third and Tex’s story but only because they had to endure so much to reach their happiness. Not discrediting Wyatt and Tate by any means, just felt a little more connected with Third.
As always though, Gabbi delivers an incredible storyline with realistic hardships, even if money was technically not an issue for one couple. Wyatt and Tate did have a lot of interesting moments but they did finally get their HEA years later.
It’s always great to see a peek into side couples in an intertwining story. Mission City seems to be bustling with action and so much love!
Blue Sky Boyfriend Tate's desire to be successful has cost him everything; his marriage, career, self-respect, and Wyatt. Coming home again he's burdened by guilt. I liked that Wyatt doesn't hold him at a distance but he does expect honesty and open communication, nudging Tate toward counseling. The ending was wonderful.
Fly Guy Boyfriend Tex seems a bit at loose ends. He has lost his job with the military and even though he's still flying he is unsettled. He has no roots or real personal connections. Meeting Davey has him questioning the emotions Davey brings out in him. Davey is a shadow. His social anxiety and the loss of his mom have him at the mercy of his Dad's overbearing whims. I liked that Davey found a bit of strength when it came to Tex. The ending is very satisfying.
This is a duet of two short novella’s set in the mission city universe both are well written enjoyable reads, the first novella Blue Sky boyfriend is Wyatt and Tate’s story which is a second chance love story and novella two is Fly Guy boyfriend which is Dave’s and Tex’s story which is an age gap romance. This is another good addition to the mission city universe and have both been individually available before as part of an anthology or giveaway but is a lot easier as a duet. Well worth a read looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
This is two stories in one book. Book one.. Wyatt stayed in Mission City after graduation to help run the family farm. Tate left for college and after graduation quickly found work in finance. Fifteen years later Tate is back but he is not the man Wyatt remembers.
Book two... Davy (or Third) is the only son of a very successful business man. But he wants to live his own life not take over the family business. Tex gives him the confidence to speak up and also take what Tex is offering.
I received this book from GRR This is my honest review
Two great novellas that left my heart full and a smile on my face. Both have great men that connect, have to learn to give and take to new circumstances to find love. In the first book two high school sweetheart reconnect many years after one (Tate) broke the others heart (Wyatt) only to find the first love has never wavered. In the other an older man helps a young man discover and accept himself, as their mutual attraction grows. Both have great characters that make you believe in love. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
Both these stories broke my heart and warmed it at the same time. The pain that Tate went through was horrible but had it not been through what he did he may not have come home to his family and the man who had his heart all along. Their story was almost instant but it made sense because they already loved each other. Tex and Davey had to get to know each other, Tex took a minute to realize he was falling for the young man but even before he realized it he was all in and very protective of him. Both stories were great, so much love and an amazing ending. ❤️😀
Ehhhh…I didn’t like Tate very much in the first story. He just came back and expected Wyatt to be available? After 15 years? Nah….plus it seemed like Tate really had loved his husband and was sad it ended. It was hard to believe that they were soulmates.
In the second story, I didn’t really care for Tex talking about his conquests all the time. I hate when one character has so much experience and the other is practically a virgin. Not sure I believe that Tex would have given up his lifestyle so quickly.
Two for one! Childhood sweethearts who lost touch and a pilot and his “passenger”, each have a story to tell and each does it well. These two stories are sweet with low drama and both have happy endings that are well deserved. They both move quickly, they both are entertaining and they both leave you pleased with their happiness. Both short stories but each packs a lot into the pages.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Two very entertaining novellas. Wyatt and Tate’s story is a lovely low angst second chance romance, with two lovable main characters. I especially loved Wyatt and his willingness to forgive Tate and how he helps Tate forgive himself. Tex and Davey have a sweet age gap romance. These two fit together well and I loved their willingness to compromise and accept their differences. I enjoyed both novellas.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this small collection of stories. There were two novellas in this book they were both great stories. I am coming to love the people in this town. I loved the story lines of both of these books they both help my attention and if I had to ding them for anything it would be that I just wanted more that was just me being selfish and I wanted more to read about them. I'm very excited for what's going to be coming next and I can't wait to continue on in this series.
Both of these stories were pretty good for as far as they went. There wasn’t much, if any, real angst with Wyatt and Tate nor with Tex and Davey. As for the latter pair, they are two of the most likable characters in the series so I feel like I was robbed of a fuller story. If I had to venture a guess, these two shorts were written solely for the purpose of introducing context when these characters make appearances in later stories.
This book contains Two novellas. Each book has it's own unique storyline with strong characters and sweet romances. The author does a great job developing the stories and paints her scenes perfectly, delivering two entertaining reads. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This cozy tale turned out to be the perfect read for an overcast, drizzly Saturday snuggled up on the couch. It's gentle, with a little angst, and touching as two men reuniting years later. Old hurts, new disasters, a ton of family members putting in their two pennies worth of opinion, but Wyatt and Tate find their own way out to the mess, along with the sweetest dog. A lovely read.
I've read several books written by Gabbi Grey; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the two-book collection in the Love in Missions City: The Boyfriend’s Duet. Each book is well written with interesting story lines and characters.
