Kennedy Layne is a USA Today bestselling author. She draws inspiration for her romantic thrillers in part from her not-so-secret second life as a wife of a retired Marine Master Sergeant. He doubles as her critique partner, beta reader, and military consultant. The loyal dogs and mischievous cats appreciate her writing days as much as she does, usually curled up in front of the fireplace.
Another fantastic instalment to the Touch of Evil series…unfortunately in this book though, one of the team members is seriously injured🤕 In an effort to discover what’s going on, Brook and the team set up in the hospital to hold vigil and do what they do best…discover who has it in for them or the person injured🤔
I’m excited to see what happens and what investigation the team goes on next😁
Absolutely outstanding. This series continues to get better and better. The cast of characters is so good. It’s truly an unputdownable series. I can’t wait for the next book.
Evil touches our lives every day. We don’t always see it, hear it, or touch it…but it’s there all the same. Follow along as Brooklyn Sloane, a former consultant for the FBI, takes on cold cases that are thrown on a random desk to gather dust without a second thought to the victims’ families left behind. She knows all too well what it’s like to be the one left with nothing but unanswered questions. Her renowned career as a federal profiler was built on apprehending only the most notorious serial killers who made the front page of the national newspapers. Unfortunately, she failed to bring to justice the one who stained her soul—her very own brother. He is still out there hunting, but she fully intends to be the one who ends his reign of terror.
Silent Sin is the tenth book in the Touch of Evil Series by Kennedy Layne. Touch of Evil is a gripping blend of psychological intrigue, suspense, and raw emotion and follows Brooklyn Sloane, a former FBI consultant turned private investigator, as she tackles cold cases and confronts her own haunting past. Brooklyn is a standout FMC – she’s intelligent, determined, and yet deeply flawed. Her relentless pursuit of justice, particularly as she hunts for her estranged brother, who is a cunning serial killer, definitely added extra intrigue as well as a deeply personal layer to the overarching story. Ms. Layne seems to easily manage to delve into Brooklyn’s psyche while also maintaining the tension of the mysteries. Each book is a carefully crafted puzzle, with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. The dark, moody tone is balanced by moments of vulnerability and humanity, making the characters feel real and very relatable. Ms. Layne’s writing is sharp and evocative, painting vivid scenes that draw you into the world of crime and justice. It’s a must-read for anyone who enjoys a story that challenges the mind and tugs at the heartstrings. Prepare to be captivated - and maybe even a little haunted - by this unforgettable series. Happy Reading…
Brook and team take a hard hit when one is severely hurt at the start of the story. As details emerge it is clear Jacob is behind the attack and Brook goes off grid. Graham and Theo step up their presence and showcase their loyalty and the strength of their relationships with Brook and the team. The attacker is interesting in the manner and reason of the attack and her connection to Jacob. The twist of danger Brook experienced was unexpected and the two conversations with Jacob were chilling but fascinating for different reasons. Loved the coded messages Brook used and where she went for safe haven. A great read!
Former FBI agent Brooklyn Sloane is a profiler and owns S&E Investigations. She has hand picked her team. They also consult on some FBI cases. When one of her teammates is attacked, they believed it was random until evidence is found. Brook goes off the grid and leaves Theo in charge. Jacob Walsh is a serial killer and Brook’s brother. Jacob has orchestrated the attack on Brook’s teammate from prison. Brook and the team work to figure out who Jacob’s accomplice is. Will they find the attacker before they can attack again? I liked the others better. It was hard for me to get into it. Suspense.
Arc provided for an honest review...... This is an amazing series! I came across the first book by accident and fell in love. The characters are strong. The ongoing story between Brooke and her serial killer brother Jacob just gets better and better. The team as a whole is phenomenal. Author Kennedy Layne writes a story that you become invested in from start to finish, from book 1 to book 10. The quick chapters make you feel like you're speeding through the book. If you're looking for a great series, this is for you!!
You knew someone in the team was going to be hurt from the end of the last book. So when this one opened and Sylvie was hurt, not a big surprise. What was, was how Brook reacted. I found myself getting pissed at her, why would she just leave them all hanging like that???? Then as the book went on and other ties were found, it made sense and I liked that even her team got it.
It took some doing and it was close, but they got the bad guy and let Jacob know he lost this one again, which is starting to get to him.

Silent Sin grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go. The fast pace from beginning to end kept me hooked, but what truly stood out was how the story opened up deeper layers of Brooks' relationships — both with her team and her brother. It felt like we finally got to see behind the strong exterior, adding emotional weight to the action. Each scene moved the plot forward while also revealing more of the characters’ inner lives.
This story kept you reading to see what happens to one of the members. It keeps you hoping for a good out come and there is surprises in it that you do not see coming. I read this one in one in 24 hours, that should tell you something. If you haven't read this series, you must. Kennedy Layne knows how to write a story that you do not want to put down and want to go right to the next book.
Another great installment in this series. They just get better and better. I’m kinda bummed I have to wait so long on the next book but as they say good things come to those that wait. Do yourself a favor and dive into this series. You will not regret it.
This is awesome. But now I have to wait for November until the next one. Jacob is getting very restless in prison and I am getting worried for brook and graham. I bet he still has tricks up his sleeve or accomplices hidden in her teams lives like he did in this one. This is an excellent series.
Didn't want to put it down! Kept you wondering who and what was next. Just wish the bad guy had actually gotten the death penalty at the end but I'm assuming there's another book to follow
SO FREAKING GOOD. I had a lot of commitments during these days otherwise I would’ve finished this in a few hours. Consistently turning pages because it sucked me in. So much drama, so many things to unpack, love love love love!!!
Jacob has out done himself this time. He's managed to attack a team meme while he's in prison. There are some chilling scenes in this book when it proves how easy someone can come into your life meaning you harm.
Awe. I read these books too fast. I want them to last longer so I can spend more time with these great characters. Another wonderful addition to the series.
Once again, I was kept on the edge of my seat right from the start. This has been a fabulous series and I've already pre-ordered the next in the series, #11. Can't wait.
I really liked this one. It was gripping and there was real suspense to keep me on my toes. Things are evolving in the relationship between Brook, the main character, and her brother, the psycho.
At first I thought ehhh I’m tired of the story line. Then boom Kennedy Layne does it again! Kept me on the edge of my seat! So don’t give up if it feels like a slow start!
