Ganesha, first among gods, is loved by a Billion Hindus in Bharat (India) and all over the world. Every task, project, work or Puja (prayer) always begins by invoking Ganesha and seeking His blessings. Ganesha is Vighna Harta (Remover of Obstacles) and Chintaa Mani (Resolver of Worries). He is the Lord of Wisdom and the Bestower of all Wishes.
Ganesha Purana opens our eyes and mind to give us a grand vision of the Unlimited Power and Grandiosity of Lord Ganesha. He helped Brahma create Life. He helped Vishnu save the world. He helped Shiva defeat evil. He saved the King of Devas - Indra. He saved Earthly Kings, Common people and even Sinners who sincerely prayed to Him. The Purana includes mesmerizing Sahastra Nama (Thousand Names) of Ganesha to give us a glimpse of His Glories!
This is a brand new Simplified edition of the Ganesha Purana. The original has been simplified and retold to make it easy to understand. There are also, specially created for this book, beautiful illustrations included in the book. Sri Ganesha Purana Simplified is a guidebook to help you start on an amazing spiritual journey of self discovery with Ganesha - the Remover of Obstacles and Resolver of Difficulties.
Sri Ganesha Purana - Simplified: Part 1 Upaasna Khanda by Ishwar Joshi Awalgaonkar is an enlightening and accessible retelling of a vital Hindu text. Having read three of Awalgaonkar’s previous works, I had high expectations, and this book did not disappoint.
It simplifies the extensive narratives and rich symbolism of the Ganesha Purana, making it easy to understand while preserving its grandeur. The book highlights Lord Ganesha’s roles and offers lessons in resilience, faith, and devotion. The inclusion of the Sahastra Nama enhances spiritual practice, and beautiful illustrations add a visual dimension.
Clear and focused, it is suitable for both adults and younger readers exploring Hindu mythology. I recommend it.
Highly simplified, without any sort of interpretation of the essence of the stories. Good first start. Wish the original Sanskrit mantras were included though and not just the translation.
