Fourteen years ago, I killed sixteen people and I'd do it again. Were you expecting something different? Did you think I would be remorseful? No. Each and every one of them deserved to die.
Now, I'm back to reclaim what was always supposed to be mine and destroy everyone who has wronged me or her. Those who took her from me will pay with their lives and I'll smile like the psychopath I am as I deliver my own twisted form of justice.
After all, it's Halloween. The craziest things happen on All Hallow's Eve.

Myers by Zepphora is a short horror romance story inspired by Michael Myers, following Damien King, a traumatized twelve-year-old boy who, after years of relentless abuse, finally snaps and embarks on a killing spree. Fourteen years later, that boy has become a man—and he returns to Chippewa Falls with one chilling purpose: to reclaim the girl he lost that fateful night, and to destroy everyone who took her away from him. 🔪🎃

Please note: This story contains extremely dark and graphic content, including explicit and gory murders (some of which are sexual in nature), multiple instances of sexual violence, and depictions of severe mental illness — psychosis (Damien) and sexual sadism (both protagonists).

───♡─────────────

♡ What I loved most:
• I enjoyed the similarities to the original Myers story — the book had an immaculate Halloween vibe 🎃
• The fact that Damien was a selective mute was my favorite parallel 🕯️
• It has multi-POV, which made the story feel more dynamic and gave it a little extra dimension 📖

✘ What didn’t work for me:
• First — why is this book called Myers if there’s no Myers in it? 🤨
• The writing could use a little improvement; while there were no major issues, I found many typos and had to reread a couple of sentences ✍️
• While I understand that both of the MCs were children when they met (a toddler and a twelve-year-old boy), I couldn’t help but be weirded out by Damien’s fixation on Trixie. If it hadn’t turned romantic, it would have been fine — but how can you romanticize someone you met as a four-year-old? I tried getting past that, but it kept bugging me 🥲
• Damien said quite a lot of wrong things — and it pissed me off.
First, he says this about a dog:
“Bitches can be so needy, am I right?”

Then, later in the book, he throws this bomb:
“Who gives a fuck if he’s screwing his step-sister? It’s their business alone. I’d still feel the same way if there was a blood relation.”🚫

• The killing scenes were way too much for me — overly detailed and unnecessarily twisted. Some were sexual in nature without being sexually motivated, which made no sense. It felt like the gore existed just for shock value 💉
• And worse? Our girly here ate all those deaths up — a clear case of sexual sadism. I wish this disorder wouldn’t be taken so lightly in fiction, but here we go again 🥀
“I’m more in awe of the death than anything else. Something about the way his body is displayed has my thighs slick with arousal.”

“I don’t know why, but all of his murders get me all hot and bothered. Maybe it's because I can feel his passion when I look at them. None of them got to me more than Calvin’s.
That one was so fucking hot. I could barely stop myself from (redacted).”

You get the idea.
• The nickname “my pretty little dead girl” appears repeatedly, yet we’re never told *why* dead 😭
• The plot did not make a lot of sense at times. Many things were too convenient, happening at just the right time or for no reason at all. For example, 🚓
• The emotional realism was nonexistent. Aurora’s acceptance of Damien’s actions was implausible—she’d have to be a sociopath, yet she didn’t display any such traits 💔
• Furthermore, I didn’t see the romance either in ❗️HUGE SPOILERS❗️
• And as if that weren’t enough — The absurdity of it all left me stunned 😵‍💫
• The scene where was another kind of twisted. I have no words 🫩

❀ Overall:
When I went in, I kind of expected a classic horror romance story — boy kills for revenge, boy loves girl, girl falls for boy, girl finds out boy is a killer, happy ending. However, this was something else entirely. The themes of psychosis and sexual sadism dominate the story, but not in a meaningful or reflective way. It’s darkness for the sake of darkness.
And besides the darkness? The story went from okay to what the actual hell am I reading. I’m honestly sad not to fit in with the many glowing reviews I saw, but this book just didn’t do it for me. The plot was illogical, the romance felt wrong, the spice was dull, and the emotional reasoning was absent. Despite its small length, it took me ages to get through.
I went in with high expectations based on other ratings, but unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy much of it. I respect an author’s hard work and support every writer’s journey, but I can’t overlook the difference between writing dark or horror romance and writing about untreated mental illness and disturbing scenarios. This story blurred that line too far for me. 🖤

This book was DARK and I ate that shit up. Out of the books I've read I'd say its pretty close to Skin of a Sinner. I just love a obsessed man who does everything to get his girl, that's a green flag🤭

OK, I don’t know if I should blame this rating on my mood or if my expectations were just too high. It had so much potential. I loved the setting, the vibes, and the whole Michael Myers retelling aspect. But I just didn’t really connect with the story or the characters. That said, I think a lot of people would really enjoy this one. It’s a fun, gory, kinky quick Halloween read.

Y’all know how sexy this story is gonna be when this is the dedication…

“For the spooky bitches who always thought Michael Myers was swinging a horse cock and would fuck like a demon. He knows you can be a good girl and a dirty slut at the same time.”

Ladies and fellas😉 y’all gonna need to add this one to the TBR ASAP. A dark romance retelling of Halloween? Michael Myers? This story was everything I never knew that I needed. I’m a huge Halloween/MM fan and this story was hott af.

I hope to see more of these types of stories in the future. I’m doing more research after this one because I need more of these stories in my life🥵🥵

Wtf have I just read?
This book was terrible. The plot was incredibly predictable and riddled with huge plot holes.
Damien has been in prison since he was 12 years old, in confinement for 14 years, yet escapes and drives perfectly? Kills half the town without anyone seeing him, even while wearing a neon mask and hiding behind trees. He's mute, but somehow the female main character always knows what he means just by looking into his eyes 🙄🙄
The sex scenes were the worst I've ever read. The author repeatedly emphasized that his 🍆 was huge like a horse and curved. Seriously, the word "curved" was used so many times... we get it, his 🍆 is curved, but why the constant emphasis? Does it have some kind of special significance or holds some magical power?
The female main character waited years for the perfect guy to lose her virginity to, only to suddenly meet a mute weirdo that literally invades her house and she decides that he is THE ONE! wtf?!

The book wasn't dark or scary. The gory scenes were poorly written and overall the whole book was a mess.

I love the Halloween movies (especially the older ones) and was looking for a Halloween romance and stumbled upon this one. Myers is a standalone erotic horror novella and follows the movie fairly well although names are changed of course and it’s spicier and more gruesome. I liked it though. It’s an easy read and I wanted something dark, so it satisfied all that. My only complaint (and I’ve noticed this a lot in books lately so it may just be a me problem) is that the FMC comes off ditzy and dumb. I don’t think any female in her predicament would be okay with everything happening and her reaction to stuff is ridiculous. Other than that it’s a fun Halloween read if you’re looking for something quick and dark.

Only giving this 1 star because 0 stars is not an option….

What was this??? There was so much potential but absolutely fell flat. There are a lot of continuity errors, like you mean to tell me a man who has been locked up for 14 years is going to use the terms “plus sized queen” and “live in my head rent free” be so for real.

I wish I could go back in time and not read this because it was a waste of time.

A TU PAPÁ?? WTF??

michael myers meets scream, he slaughters & kills a whole town just for you !! 🎃🔪🖤

damien king, the mute psychopath that you are !!
at only 12 years old he kills a group of boys who bully him and he’s been traumatically abused by his older sister.
when he gets separated from his younger step sister aurora [bellatrix] he puts an end to anyone who’s in his way for her.
his obsession runs so deep since they were kids

aurora was delusional as hell not knowing that was him right in front of her like it was so obvious lmao but she progresses real dark desires.
oh and we know what book she reads with a skull & roses on the cover 💋

this halloween slasher retelling is one you have to read for spooky season especially if you’re a michael girly

I usually don‘t like retellings. But as a professional Michael Myers Simp, this book peaked my interest. But absolutely not…

It‘s called Myers but absolutely noone in the book carries that name. The plot was predictable ASFFFF. For several chapters straight the FMC keeps repeating that her standarts of men is super high and she’s waiting for the one man who can meet them, yet lets the stranger who broke into her room fuck her???? The sex scenes were HORRENDOUS. The horror wasn‘t horroring it was just disgusting. Dude nearly killed a whole town and noone was able to catch the big guy sitting for hours in the bushes and trees wearing a neon mask. PLEASE.

The book didn’t feel like a dark book. It felt like a book desperately trying to be Dark. Like making the FMC get turned on by dead bodies, making a lamp out of someones severed head, saying ACTUAL brother sister relationships are okay because it’s noones business?? HELLO????

I could go on and on and on but I‘m done yapping😭

If I could leave negative stars I would. I am never. NEVER. Taking another GoodReads recommendation for horror smut. What in the ever-loving-fuck did I just read. There are a few things I would like to address and I will do so promptly, starting with the detachment from fucking reality that is this book:
I do not believe - I am no lawyer, mind you - that a TWELVE year old boy would ever be sentenced to life in prison immediately without being sent to juvenile detention center. I am also very fucking unsure where he learned how to drive if he was locked up for fourteen years. I am also very fucking unsure how he learned to tongue-fuck women like a god if he was locked up in a men's prison for fourteen years.

The writing: I'm convinced this was the first time this author has written smut. That or they're a man. Sentences like "...until my entire body seizes at thin air from the assault his delicious tongue gives me" and "but that doesn’t stop from it being the worst pain I’ve ever experienced in my life" made me physically cringe. And just because I couldn't stop laughing, here's this one: "splitting me in two with the sword between his thighs." To really drive my point home on how demented this whole "relationship" between Trixie and Damien is, the last time he saw her was when she was 4. FOUR. And he has to balls to say "Her cunt is mine, too." Someone, anyone, take the fucking wheel.

I have so many other opinions on how horrid this book was, but for the sake of my sanity, I'm just gonna move on. If you care to see a handful of moments in this book that almost made me physically ill, [ex: "I’m enjoying the soda. It’s really fresh"] look at my highlights & notes.

3.5/5 ⭐️ It was like a twisted mix of Halloween and Terrifier with a few spicy scenes thrown in lol very unhinged and definitely dark.

HOWEVER!! I wished the author would have aged up Aurora/Trixie so she was AT LEAST 20 years old. Because her age was so ambiguous I thought she was 16 throughout the majority of the story and nearly had an aneurysm! She's 18 btw but that really isn't much better considering Damien is 26.

Plus, what happened to Chunky Monkey 😭 I wanted Aurora/Trixie to meet her!

Wanna know my biggest issue with the book... no one was named Myers!? Wack...

fun for a Halloween read

Definitely dark! I flew through this and i liked the plot! Not a romance, its dark horror. Realistically she was too ok with everything he was doing and he completely disrupted her entire life and she said ok i get it lol but she was a little dark too! He wasn’t the only one with a twisted mind.

I’m literally cracking up at what I just read like you can’t be serious? Lmao. Was I entertained? Yes. Was the FMC in this book delusional as hell? YES! The storyline was okay. It was weird how he went from protecting her as a family member to craving her as his girlfriend. Overall it was an interesting read.

4.5!!!!

I was hooked from the beginning. There is so much murder and so much anger but all for a good reason, at least that is what Damien King thinks. This kid had so much responsibility and was treated absolutely shitty. Horrible things happened to him but yet he still showed up for Trixie and took the best care of her that he could at 12 years old. Trixie started staying at their house when she was an infant and he was 8. His step sister was supposed to be the one to watch her but she didn’t, he did. The book time jumps 14 years. At times I felt like I might throw up, it was that brutal. I don’t read a lot of horror for this reason but this novella sounded too good to pass up. I also have never read anything by this author. I felt like I was watching a movie the whole time. One thing I did have an issue with will be in the play by play spoilers. I’m not so sure finishing this book before bed was a good idea but I was too far in to stop for the night If you are a fan of Michael Meyers and Halloween, like gory detailed scenes, don’t care if the cops are ignorant, and don’t mind age gap then pick this one up.

it pains me to say this but the romance killed the book, this would have been such a perfect serial killer book, but the romance element and the fmc specifically ruined the premise.
Not to say that the initial plot made sense in the first place, Because this is a story about a dude who got obsessed over a toddler, When he was 12, and he came back for her years later and killed her entire family to get her, this would have been fine if he met her as an adult, and developed an obsession, but for him to develop an obsession over her when she was a literal baby, is a little insane ,even for this book.
The scene where he tells her that he killed her mother, made me extremely sad. But I kinda understand her reaction and her being understanding of his motives, because she's just as crazy as he is lol

But then again, it's a ruin book for me because of the romance, i would have loved the horror and gore as the whole plot and not as a mean to and end. i think it would have been so interesting to delve into the psyche of this serial killer man who started his killing sprees when he was just a preteen.

I feel like I should give this book 0 stars because of how absolutely fucked up it is but dammit I read it in like an hour and a half and I couldn’t look away.

Micheal Myers, Halloween, retelling. Damien King suddenly snaps one day on the night of Halloween at the age of 14. 16 years later he breaks free from prison to return to Chippewa Falls for one person, Trixie. This is a dark romance with an age gap. Some spicy scenes, lots of gore. Exquisitely reimagined!
