Here comes Santa Claus…

When my heater goes out, it’s the last straw. With my car already in the shop, my hours getting cut, and Christmas around the corner, I officially give up. It’s time to ask my parents if I can move home. It isn’t the failing at adulting that gets me down, it’s returning to pack life. I left it for a reason; my mate wasn’t there. Heading back with my tail between my legs pretty much will guarantee I’ll spend my life alone.

But just as I’m about to call my folks, I see an ad for someone to play Santa Claus, one that specifically asks for all builds and ages. Sure I’m only thirty and sure I have a solid six pack, but good on them for realizing that make-up and pillows can do wonders during cos-play. Only when I arrive at the interview, I quickly discover that they aren’t looking for a mall Kris Kringle. No. That would be too easy. They’re looking for exotic Santas… yeah that kind. I’m about to leave, until I discover how much they want to pay me. Maybe, just maybe, I can be a naughty St. Nicholas for a bit.

Stocking Stuffer is a sweet with knotty heat MM Mpreg Christmas romance from the popular co-writing duo of Lorelei M. Hart and Colbie Dunbar. It features a wolf down on his luck, the human who is dragged to one of the wolves “shows”, some really bad dancing, Christmas magic, tree decorating, cookies, cocoa, snowy fun, true love, fated mates, a guaranteed happy ever after, and the best present of all… an adorable baby.

I liked the story, it was super sweet and fun- but I felt like I missed context. Like there was a lot background or history before the story and nobody explained anything. It felt like a book in a series, but not starting at the beginning. Left me confused.

Stocking Stuffer stars Fallon, a wolf shifter and dancer, and Astor, a human. This is told in first person from Astor and Fallon’s povs.

I sort of like the cover, except it doesn’t look like Fallon. I’m guessing it’s Fallon because he’s the Santa dancer at a club.

The blurb is kind of wordy and telling, so I’ll explain a bit. Fallon is thirty and lives on his own in a dingy apartment. He’s broke and takes a job as a Santa. He thinks it’s a job for a mall Santa, but turns out to be a Santa dancer. He’s lousy at dancing, but the crowd loves him, and he scents his mate in the crowd. Astor arranges a bachelor party for his friend at the club Fallon works at. There he spots Fallon, and despite being human, he is instantly drawn to Fallon.

As usual, this author team wrote a plot that interested me. But as usual, there were numerous problems with their writing, which I’ll list.

1) Astor and Fallon’s voices were the same. This is a predictable problem this writing team has. They can’t create characters with distinct voices. The voices are so similar that if there’s dialogue without name designations, it’s impossible to tell who’s speaking. I’d lose track of the speaker and had to go back pages to find out who was speaking for the sequence of events. The authors really need to practice or take lessons on writing distinct voices.

2) Some more about the voices. In the beginning, Astor’s voice was more assertive, so much so that I thought he was the Alpha. Fallon’s voice and attitude was more submissive or immature, which made him appear more like an omega. By the end of the story, their style of speaking, word usage for example, whining etc., was the opposite of the way they started the book. I know this makes it sound like they had different voices, but they don’t. When the character voices change so they end up sounding like the other character by the end of a book it’s confusing.

3) I don’t know why the shifter aspect was added to this story, it had no bearing on the romance or the couple at all. Fallon shows Astor he was a shifter and Astor didn’t have a problem. The shifter aspect seemed only to be written as a kink for the knotting and bonding, which could’ve been written as just part of this alternate world. The shifter aspect was irrelevant and I don’t think the book should be marketed as part of a shifter paranormal. So don’t think of this book as having anything to do with shifters because it doesn’t. Sneeze and you’ll miss it.

4) There was too much giggling. Does anyone know of men that giggle a lot? Maybe if they are boys/littles, but adult men?

5) I realize that what I read was an ARC, so I expect errors in spelling or missing words, which in this ARC wasn’t that bad. What I don’t expect is bad and obvious inconsistencies. I’m going to point them out here so you know what I’m talking about. I doubt the authors fixed it in time of publication.

From Fallon’s pov, the scene where Fallon is dancing for the first time:

“Sexy hunk at the back, show us what you got?” one guy shouted as I got the sleeves tangled before tossing it away, and it landed in the audience. Oops. Graham would be furious if someone took it home.

This next part is in the next chapter from Astor’s pov:

Sweat dripped down my spine when I shoved past people to reach the stage.

“I need to talk to you.”…

…I flung out my arm. He (Fallon) yelped, glancing at someone offstage, and reared away. I was left with his jacket, permeated with sweat and his intoxicating scent.

Excuse me? It’s like the authors wrote separate chapters and neither of them communicated with the other about what happened in their chapters. There’s no mention of Astor speaking to Fallon in the first scene nor Astor grabbing and pulling Fallon’s Santa jacket off. In the scene with Fallon’s pov, Astor isn’t even close to the stage, and some other guy was talking to Fallon. No customer grabbed for his jacket. Fallon took off the jacket himself and threw it into the audience. That inconsistency is sloppy writing because it’s an obvious mistake, not like simple misspellings, or the authors really need to get better betas and proofers before the book is sent out as an ARC.

The next inconsistency is when Fallon meets Astor outside the club. After they’re off work they must change into their regular clothes.

From Fallon’s pov:

I was supposed to put my stage clothes in a huge laundry bin, but Kent grabbed mine with a grin

So that means Fallon changed out of his Santa costume, except for his G-string, and is now in his regular clothes. The next scene from Astor’s pov is Astor waiting outside of the backdoor of the club.

He (Fallon) studied me wearing his Santa jacket.

This sentence needs to be clarified. There are so many 'he' that it sounds like Fallon is wearing a jacket when Astor is talking about the jacket he had from Fallon. This sentence is vague.

Overall, I liked the plot of this book, it feels like a Christmas story. The shifter aspect is insignificant and really has no influence on the plotline whatsoever. It was completely unnecessary. The authors still need to get better at writing distinctive voices for their characters because again, Astor and Fallon sound the same. The authors and their betas etc, need to get better at spotting the inconsistencies that are frequent in this writing teams stories. I’ve started to wean myself away from reading this team’s books because of these continuous problems. Despite liking the plot and the scenes at the club, I can only give, Stocking Stuffer, 3 Stars.

This is a cute little holiday fated mates story. Fallon and Astor were instantly attracted to each other. They just had to figure out a way to make the dream attached to Santa work out. One that didn’t involve one of them completely giving up their identity. (We still never really find out what Astor does for a job though.) While Fallon may not come down the chimney, he can deliver the HEA both he and Astor desire.

Fallon is thirty, no car and his heat is out in his apartment. He's got a crappy job at a waiter and is thinking about returning to his parent's home. He takes a job as Santa, thinking it's a mall job. It turns out to be at a nightclub. And even though he has no rhythm, can't bump and grind to save his life, the nightclub manager hires him. The first night on the job, he discovers his mate, Astor, a human, who is attending a bachelor party.
The cover is misleading. Seeing it, I was thinking, deep down dirty sexy times. Which is not a normal Hart and Dunbar offering. The blurb could have gone either way. What I got was a sweet, sometimes hilariously funny story. Which is Hart and Dunbar.
Fallon is great, outwardly confident, but nervous about his mate being human. Astor is totally cool, he has little problem with his mate being a wolf shifter. Astor is also confident, successful, and loves his job. He doesn't waste the book whining that 'woe is me, I'm an Omega with no mate'. Definitely a role model for the rest of the Omegas in omegaverse.
Low angst (and surprise, surprise it's all coming from the sweet Alpha), it's a fun, quick read. And I'll forgive the cover because.... it's a Hart and Dunbar.

Let go of dreams in one hand, frees you to grab onto opportunity with the other. Fallon, left the rigid constraints of pack life hoping to break into acting and he wanted to find his mate. He has reached a point where life doesn't seem to be his friend. He worked in a drudge job. His mode of transportation needs a repair job he can't afford. He lives paycheck to paycheck and can't financially take surprises. The last straw is when his heating unit breaks. He thinks his only choice is to return home to his parents and pack life. Then he gets and opportunity of a unexpectedly unique job if he's willing to take a chance. Astor, is responsible for organizing the bachelor party for his bestie, Holden. Fallon, made an impression on Astor. Their first meet is a hoot! This is a fun, funny romantically sweet story about struggle and perseverance. Fallon and Astor are really nice guys and you pull for them to find their happy. Nice cover art! Nicely done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fallon is a wolf shifter who is really down on his luck. His car is broken down, his work hours have been cut and now his heat is broken in his apartment. He is thinking that he has no other option but to return home and be laughed at for being a failure. Then he does one last search for a job and sees a very well paying job as a Santa. He is desperate enough to take the job even though it is dancing at a strip club. He quickly learns that he has no sense of rhythm and is clumsy but he can bump and grind. He is shocked to scent his mate on his first night dancing.

Aston is a human who is arranging his beat friend's bachelor's party. He arranges for them to go to a stripper bar that features stripping Santas. When Aston arrives he finds himself drawn to a stripper. The stripper is the worst one on the stage but Aston can't keep his eyes off him. He even waits for the stripper to leave so he can get a date with him.

This is a really sweet story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Astor is a human omega who is successful in business, and when his friend gets engaged, he takes him to a nightclub where he meets his fated mate, Fallon. Fallon is a wolf shifter who is trying to make it as an actor, but all he manages to do is work hard but still not end meet. Then he answers an ad for a job as a Santa, when he arrives at the venue, it’s for a strip club. Fallon isn’t a very good dancer, but they give him a chance which works out well for him because even though he’s not a very good dancer he becomes the popular one. On his first night he meets Astor who is his fated mate. Everything works out for these two and they go on to have a happily ever after.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.

This is the story of Fallon and Astor. Fallon is an alpha wolf shifter who is trying to succeed in the city away from his old pack. When things keep getting worse, he sees an ad for a Santa job. This is the only thing that stops him from going home with his tail between his legs. The problem is, it isn't a mall Santa job like he thought. He is in a dance review in a club in a sparkly red G string and not much else. But he desperately needs the money so he is all in. Astor is an omega who believes he will never find his fated mate. But at a bachelor party for his best friend, he sees him on stage. This is their story. Fallon is slow to act as he is the alpha and yet he can barely provide for himself, let alone Astor. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. A sweet holiday read.

This is a low-angst, festive Christmas holiday novella that has all the good feels. Fallon, a wolf-shifter alpha, is very down on his luck and he needs money fast. He applies for a job as a Santa, but is surprised to learn it involves exotic dancing at a club. Still, the money is good and he's coming out of the trauma of poverty.

Astor is a well-to-do omega who is out at a club with his best friend and others for the friend's bachelor party. His eye catches one of the dancers on stage and he is immediately drawn to the alpha. At the same time, Fallon scents his mate in the crowd and spots Astor.

There are a lot of happy feels in this book, including a lot of hot cocoa and Christmas cookies. Adult onesies, movie marathons, and nights of passion round out the fun. This book has a predictable relationship arc, lots of holiday festivities, and a beautiful destined love.

First off, Fallon is NOT a typical alpha wolf shifter. He is super sweet but lacks confidence and coordination that shows when he takes a job as Santa. Not an ordinary Santa, but Santa, nonetheless. Astor is a successful human omega that is not typical for his designation either. Astor is sweet but does not take any gruff from anyone and is not afraid to speak his mind. When they catch sight of each other, things get heated quickly. Read along to see how a dancing Santa and a headstrong omega get together and make it work despite some self-imposed obstacles. There is also a sweet little one that shows up at the end that puts the cherry on top of a fun read for the holidays.

Fallon and Astor story was an interesting one with a wolf shifter and human pairing, a little holiday magic and cheer, as well as lots of love and sweet moments.
Their encounter was unique, the courtship interesting, and I totally liked the way Astor reacted to Fallon's wolf.
They were adorable, caring, but had little divergences thanks to little lapses in communication, as well as their financial situation.
I liked their bonding and teasing, the way they learn to support each other, the family they formed and grown along the way.
It was sweet, spicy, magic and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.

'There was something about this Santa that had me believing I might just get everything I wanted for Christmas after all.'

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun, sweet read. I liked both Astor and Fallon. Fallon is a down-on-his-luck wolf who left his pack rather than spend his life without his fated mate- wherever they may be- and isn't doing very well. He managed to get a job as a sexy Santa for a three day trial as he is not a good dancer. He doesn't expect to scent his mate on the first night. This was definitely an unconventional meeting- and I loved it! They had a few kinks to work out, but it made the relationship all the more believable. 4 stars.

Fallon has taken a job as a Santa, but little did he know.. that this wasn't a 'normal' Santa gig.

Astor is visiting the club for his best friends bachelor party, there he discovers a connection with one of the Santa's.. what does it mean?

I thought this book was good, I liked the concept of there being a different way to play Santa, that was cool. I also enjoyed the fated mate aspect. I just thought that with Fallon being a shifter that would be more of a prominent feature but it wasn't... Which left me wishing that it was. Overall, a decent read.

Fun Christmas story

This was a fun Christmas story featuring a down on his luck Alpha wolf shifter and a rich human omega. I liked how growly and possessive Astor got for the hot dancer he couldn't keep his eyes off of. What Fallon lacked in dancing skills he sure made up for it with his enthusiasm and the crowd is eating it up. It's gotta be hard meeting your fated mate at a dance club but these two make it work. I enjoyed the time they spent together before fully bonding. Their story was fun, sweet, and sexy.

I loved Stocking Stuffer by Colbie Dunbar and Lorelei M. Hart. I loved Fallon and Astor's story. I loved that the omega was the one with money and the alpha was the one that was dirt poor, his words. I also loved their chemistry and how much fun Fallon had while performing his sexy Santa dancing job. And that just goes to show that a gorgeous body will get you an exotic dancing job even if you don't have an ounce of rhythm.

Stocking Stuffer is about Fallon an alpha wolf shifter who is down on his luck and Astor a human omega. I loved how different these two are from the normal alpha and omega stories. This is another sweet, cute, spicy, and sometimes funny story from Dunbar and Hart. I love this low angst book. This book was full of Christmas fun and a sweet little one at the end. I would definitely recommend this book.

Absolutely adore holiday romances and this alpha wolf/omega human pairing was sweet. The mating call was strong for these guys and it was almost comical how they eventually got together. Not much angst and conflict other than financial hardship for our alpha which was a little different than I'm use to with richer omega/poorer alpha...made things interesting...everything worked out lovely with a delightful ending. NICE!

Fallon is a wolf shifter who is broke and takes a job as a Santa exotic dancer. He meets his mate Astor there and the two fall for each other. This is also an omega/ alpha book with mpreg. It's a quick, fluffy story with an HEA and no angst, a veritable Christmas treat. I received a copy of this book through Booksprout and this is my voluntary opinion.

I'm losing faith in these authors.

The book is supposed to have dual pov, but there was no clear differentiation between the characters, it could very well have been just a pov and it wouldn't have been noticed.

The book has typos! 😐😐😐

The story had neither rhyme nor reason. It concentrates on irrelevant details and leaves out more important things.

At the end I'm just disappointed 😥

A really cute, short read.

It has lots of super cute festive activities like tree cutting and gingerbread house making.

I loved that Fallon was a bad dancer. So many books just make everyone good at every job so it was nice to see a character who liked his job but was terrible at it!

Overall it was just a cute, quick Christmas book.

Another great book by this dynamic duo. Fallon is a bit of a down on his luck Alpha that finds himself maybe having to return home when he lucks out with a unique job. Astor is dragged to a show for his friends bachelor party and ends up falling for Santa.

It’s OK

Storyline and character development are minimal with nothing much to bring any tension or interest into the plot. Things mostly just happen, rather calmly, and with no stress. Of course it ends well, but by then it is just as expected.
