Heir to the throne of the elven court, Prince Orrin Nightstar has enough on his plate without an everchanging Guard. Having lost a record number of Guardians to the wiles of love, he’s beginning to think he might be cursed, doomed to lead others to happiness while never finding it for himself.
It could be worse, though. He could be mated to the Guardian of the Underworld.
Erus—not Eros, thank you very much—hasn’t guarded the iron gates for millennium. It’s cold. Dark. Lonely. And frankly, boring AF. Besides, why should he limit himself when he can outsource the job? Instead, he devotes his time to overseeing the Guardians who protect the royal families
.And someone is screwing up the system. He never expected that someone to be his own mate. Nor did he foresee the chain of events their meeting would set into motion. After thousands of years of playing by his own rules, the consequences of his arrogance are finally catching up to him.
Now that he has Orrin, the stakes are even higher, and unless he can restore order to the Underworld, his new mate will be the one to pay the price.
Finally we get the Prince’s story! He’s been in previous books for a while and I’m glad he got his HEA! His fated mate was so entertaining! There were a lot of fun moments plus new beings in this one as well!
I’m not sure why there seemed to be such a big difference in the quality of this book compared to the rest of the series. It was super short, the plot felt rushed, and the conclusion was unsatisfying. Yes, it’s a happy ending, but in the whole book Orrin basically did nothing, and he just ended up following Erus around. Unlike in previous books, there’s little emotional development or bonding between the couple. The editing was also a lot worse in this one. I’ve diligently read every book in this series and I am legit surprised that this book is so unsatisfying compared to the others. I feel that Orrin definitely deserved a better story and I’m kinda sad at how his book was handled.
If you’re a fan of paranormal fated mates, this series is a great read for you
Rating: 4🌈
It’s been a while since I dove into the Blackhaven Manor series. I’ve been enjoying the sequel series , Hunter’s Hollow, so seeing this release brings me back to the original foundation and characters.
If you’re a fan of paranormal fated mates, this series is a great read for you. It’s instant recognition for each being that the one in front of them is their mate. No questions. Boom. Mine. And wonderfully, Steele is able to capture the essence of the moment and passion of meeting one’s fated mate. No matter the species or timing.
With this series, there’s a feeling of building upon the previous story, so that when those characters appear or events are mentioned, the knowledge of who they are and what’s behind the plot is there already. Like former Guardian Thorne McIver , a bear shifter, and his adorable mate, Wren Covey (Grin and Bear It). This pair, a favorite of mine, pop up everywhere. As they do here.
That’s a lot of the fun of the series too.
So Royally Flocked’s fated mates goes straight to the elven court heir, Prince Orrin Nightstar who’s been having nonstop trouble keeping his Guardians because they end up happily mated off his service.
That’s a major problem for the one in charge of the Guardians, one Erus, also known as Cerberus, Guardian of the Underworld.
This is a delightful romp through both the human realm and the underworld, with a scheming Hades nearby. And two fated mates who sexily and happily find themselves together forever.
Royally Flocked (Blackhaven Manor #10) by Arden Steele reminded me why I enjoyed the original series so and that I may have missed a book or two. Going back to remedy this now.
These are terrific paranormal romances, especially if you’re a fan of the fated mate trope. They are quick smooth reads, with interesting plots and great characters. Start with the first one, if you’re new to the series. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was another good addition to the Blackhaven Manor Series. I liked being able to immerse myself in this magical world that Arden has created. This is a paranormal fated mates story between Heir to the throne of the elven court, Prince Orrin and Erus, the Guardian of the Underworld their relationship moves at warp speed which is expected. I loved that Erus was basically an a*sehole to pretty much everyone, well really he just has absolutely no patience for anyone but his mate.
He’d do absolutely anything for Orrin and he just wants him safe, protected but the main thing he wants for him is true happiness. No matter what he decides to do. Pepper, Erus’s personal assistant was an interesting character and I’ve got my fingers crossed that he’ll eventually find his own happily ever after. I’m looking forward to reading What the Hex next, as well as more books by Arden Steele in the future. I’d recommend this book, series and author to others.
I was so beyond thrilled to see that Orrin finally got his story. At the beginning, I just couldn’t get into Erus as a romantic partner. He entered Orrin’s life like a brick to the face. There is no subtlety at all, he did what he wanted, as long as Orrin stayed happy. It wasn’t until their mating that we see beyond the “arrogant, selfish, asshole” to Orrin’s other half, pushing him beyond his royal and self imposed boundaries, and helping him realize he doesn’t need to be what everyone else needs him to be.
“The story of how Cerberus had caught a falling star and breathed new life into it.” ~ A very apt description of this book!
Royally Flocked is a quick read and was a nice way to spend an hour or so. Not one of the better Blackhaven Manor stories, but sweet in its own way. No real plot and no real angst. Erus is a bit boring as a MC even if he adores the prince but there is little character development with or for him. In fact that is the whole novella - simple characters - no real plot - and no world-building. Everything just rests on preceding novels. The one interesting part was that Skye does not like Erus - but we never find out why.
Firstly, I really hope this isn't the last in the series. Orrin has popped up in a lot of the books so far and I'm so glad he finally got his own story. Erus is the Director of the Royal Guardians and wants to know why Orrin seems to have such high turnover. His meeting with the Prince does not go how he expects. These guys have great chemistry and as usual, this is a relatively low angst, steamy read. I think Pepper was my favourite character
It’s finally Prince Orrin Nightstar’s story. Visiting Blackhaven Manor is always an enjoyable time, but I’m hoping we get some more stories set in the Underworld. Erus and Orrin were adorable and I like where things ended up. I did wonder why Skye was upset with Erus though. Because of the keres? It was never really explained. LOVED Erus calling Orrin “Little Star”.
I think this one is my favorite story of this series Black haven Manor!!! I don't know if it was the intended outcome but I laughed throughout most of the story!!! Especially between Erus and Hades I don't know if there are going to be more books but I sure hope so Thank you oh so much Lori
The characters were sweet and fun. Erus was a hoot. The editing has gotten worse however. Small things that are still enough to pull you out of the story. Frustrating to the flow but was fewer in this book I think then the last.
Awwwww Prince Orin gets his forever! This was quite a deviation from the other books. I was impressed with the detailed underworld and Hades. Not something I expected, but really enjoyed! Highly recommended
