First of all, I'm always honored to be chosen for an arc for a debut author. Writing a book is a monumental task and it's certainly not for the faint of heart. I know we go heavy on vibes in this house, and I'm grateful to have been selected!

The Heat of Seas is most heavily fantasy, though it's a darker fantasy with just a touch of romance. The author listed content warnings, and I'd certainly look them over. Your mental health matters. I also wouldn't pick this up expecting high heat. There's a splash of spice, I'd say maybe two chilis, so if you're a mood reader like I am, your inner mood gremlin needs to file this one under "more fantasy, less smut."

I would have loved to see this book go through more developmental edits, though. The story is so interesting and I'm so curious about what's going to happen, but the pacing is slow; part of that is due to the nature of the tension, but part of it is because it's very VERY easy for debut authors to fall into the trap of repetition. This author was less repetitive than some debuts I've read, but it's really a very common trap. I think once she trusts her readers to retain the information, she'll find a number of scenes can be trimmed down to improve the pacing.

Overall, this author shows a lot of promise and I'm interested to see where she goes from here! I'm so excited to watch her grow and for this story to develop!

Ms. Deanna Hill can go "shuck a shell". Why you may ask? Because she wrote my newest favorite book of 2024 and I don't have the next book in my hands already.

Debut where? This book is SO beautifully written and Deanna has such a magical way of invoking emotions within you for every single character through her words. "Epic Fantasy Romance" is such an accurate phrasing to describe this book. I was on a rollercoaster ride from the first page to the very last page, that I did not want to come off from. I am absolutely IN LOVE with every single character in this book and am so invested in their journeys. With this one book she has become an auto-buy author for me.

There's not much else I can say without spoilers. But I will say the euphoria I felt reading this book is something rare. You know when you read THAT amazing fucking book that physically stays with you during the whole read-through and even after? Yeah, this was that book.

What can I say except I lived and breathed every word of this story.
It's beautifully written, the plot is captivating, and my emotions were all over the place with these characters!
Beautiful worldbuilding, swoony romances, morally grey characters, secrets, prophecies, and deliciously steamy scenes, this book has it all.
There is so much intrigue and mystery in this multi layered plot, and the switch up in POV helps connect with all the characters.
A stunning debut that leaves you desperate for more, especially with that cliffhanger! I can't wait to read more of this enchanting world.

✨ARC Review✨

⭐⭐⭐⭐ for The Heat of Seas by DeAnna Hill

Let me preface this review by saying that I'm not much of a Fantasy girlie, I dabble in it but I'm not a huge fan, so fans of Fantasy will probably love it even more than I did.

I enjoyed the multiple POVs quite a lot, I find that they added intrigue to the storyline as certain secrets were revealed slowly depending on the character's POV. This story does end on a cliffhanger so be warned but it made me want the next book in the series to be available now! I found that this debut set up a rich fantasy world delightfully, and yet there are still so many unanswered questions to be addressed in the rest of the series (hopefully).

This was my first instance of the MFM trope, and while it wasn't super spicy, it is open door and has the potential to become spicier as the series progresses; I quite enjoyed the forbidden romance/arranged marriage tropes as well. If you enjoy the he-gives-her-a-nickname-in-another-language trope then you'll enjoy this one for sure, and it's a swoon-worthy one at that.

Thank you to @wildhill_reads and @boundbymischief for a copy in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this debut! The world-building was easy to follow and made sense, as did the lore of the world (what was explained in this book - we will definitely be receiving more explanations in the next book). I liked that it was multi-POV - I love the insight into characters minds, how they feel and think.

I loved Carnaxa and I am SO excited to see how she grows as a character in the next book. Ereon is another character whose growth I am eager to see. I am super excited for the next book!

Read if you like:

LOOK— I found this book because I was searching KU for a pirate fantasy romance (DON’T JUDGE) and this wasn’t even a pirate fantasy romance so how did I end up here???! I’m not proud of reading this one, but I had to commit to finishing it once I started. And I really have been through it with this book. Characters making all kinds of WILDDDD decisions, WILDDDD plot points (surprise throuple? No one asked for that), and sentences like:
“This festival, I might just have to attend. See what has everyone stirred up about.” and “The words are formal and for right now, they don’t make any sense at least not right now.” WHAT.

This was like watching a Lifetime movie and I was yelling at this book while reading it, BUT I HAD THE SADISTIC GOAL TO FINISH THIS AND I REACH MY GOALS DANGGIT!!

Respectfully, a 4.38 average rating for this book makes me want to bawl. We’ve strayed much too far from the light. I will not be reading the sequel, but I hope y’all have a grand ol’ time.

The Heat of Seas by DeAnna Hill 🌊

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4

This is a fantastic epic dark fantasy romance with a fantastic world and fantastic characters. The plot line is thick and flourishing and truly makes my love for morally grey characters greater. This book comes packed with forbidden love, arranged marriage, and most importantly, multiple POVS.

“𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚.”

At first the multiple POVs were hard to understand but overtime I got the hang of them and loved them. I am so glad to see Ereon’s perspective because without it I’d see him as a completely different character.

“𝙄 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙙𝙤𝙢.”

Carnaxa, the FMC, is amazing and I love her to pieces. Especially her friendship with Siphonie. They are both powerful women and I can’t wait to see where the next adventure takes them. Anara was another female character that was mentioned but she’s full of mystery and secrets so I can’t wait to see her storyline develop.

“𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩. 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧.”

This book ended on a huge cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next one! ✨ The next one is going to bring more of that fantasy element I think this book was lacking. So bring it on!

“𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙨, 𝙙𝙧𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙥 𝙖𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢. 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙡𝙮.”

Carnaxa has an arranged marriage with the prince of Shaston, Ereon. After sneaking out one too many times, she’s sent to his land. However, Ereon has his own secrets & motivations. Carnaxa, her bodyguard Thylas, and her cousin make the trek to the other kingdom.

Okay for starters, I did NOT realize this would be a series 😅 I enjoyed the characters & watching the story unfold as they journey to Shaston. I was concerned that a certain trope would make an appearance, but was pleasantly surprised. I love the unrequited love between Carnaxa and her childhood friend. We love when he will do anything to protect her.

The scene in the woods really changed the trajectory of the story. And Anara is quite the interesting addition to the story. But that ending?! I’m can’t wait to see where the next book takes us!

What an amazing debut by DeAnna Hill. I devoured every page of it and loved every second. And I can't wait for the rest of this series.

Hill has an great writingstyle, she really did an amazing job on the worldbuilding, the characters and their development and yummie steamy scenes. The multiple POV made it very easy to love all these characters and with every page you'll learn something more about them.

With that cliffhanger at the end of the book I can't wait for the second book in this series!

Thank you DeAnna Hill and Bound By Mischief for this ARC to read and review.

This is by far one of the best books I have read.. It is so well written and the characters are strong and have presence. the story is very intriguing and I couldn’t put it down. I was drawn in with each page that I flipped. The slow burn was burning on a very high level. I was anticipating the events as they were unfolding. I was scared and happy all at the same time. Carnaxa and Thylas relationship is so complicated it has you sitting at the edge of your seat. Ereon on the other hand is the prince that is taking Carnaxa away .. I just hated him and learned to love him as the book came close to an end after learning more of this story .. then came Anara, someone that I really was interested in knowing more about her just to be blown away by the end of the book. Those four characters are connected somehow and I am yet to discover it with the next book. I definitely recommend reading through the glossary and terms and getting familiar with the language because At the beginning, the first few chapters had ancient language that was part of the world building and events to explain some of the story and history of Antalis. I enjoyed every bit of this book. Highly recommend it. Chapter 34 is just 🫠🫠🫠

This was a fantastic debut novel that has me hooked, and I am eagerly awaiting book 2. The story is written in multi POV, which gives you a greater connection with the characters involved as well as allowing you to see the plot develop from multiple sides. The plot! Absolutely brilliant, multi layered, and filled with all the heart gripping romance, mystery, intrigue, and steam spice that make the perfect recipe for a brilliant dark fantasy.

I did struggle a bit at the very beginning due to the fact there was a lot of information, but this is prudent for the world building, and once you get stuck in, you really do hooked. I also loved the fact this story is very loosely based on Atlantis as I am a bit of an ancient history nerd and I have always adored the legends and myth surrounding that period.

The relationship between Carnaxa and Thylas will simultaneously have you gripping the edge of your seat with excitement and having your heart wrenched at the same time. I am still recovering from the cliffhanger at the end. I hope I will survive until book 2 but the book dragon is being bothersome to contain. Deanna is a captivating, enchanting writer and I am very excited to see more from her.

Whole heartedly recommend this story.

ARC Review

The Heat of Seas is DeAnna's debut novel and let me say I cannot wait to see where she goes from here! I adore all things Atlantis and this is a loosely based retelling. I enjoyed the world building, which was unique. The plot had me guessing and second guessing where it would lead and you cannot help but become attached to the characters- especially as their stories and backstories unfold!

Two royals, an arranged marriage to unite their kingdoms- will duty or desire win in the end? Who has more at stake? And what of the prophecy?

As this is just the first book in the series, I know there is SO much more to learn about these characters and where their story will take them and I CANNOT wait.

Started strong and then went down hill. The story of a princess who is in love with her body gaurd. Her fiance is in love with her and she goes from complete freedom to lockdown. However.. it just doesn't go anywhere. For most of the book, it's the same "I don't want to get married" or "I don't want to move". The book just talks in circles constantly. The book starts out with a romance scene but then just talks in circles. It's exhausting. Spice is up there if you can stay awake long enough to get there.

This book has it all. Adventure, romance (can we say love triangle?!), political intrigue, higher beings, a made-up language, beasts, lands aplenty, touches of magic, and more.

The world building is amazing - I could see the lands as the book went on. The main characters are all loveable in their own ways as well as troubled and insecure - kinda like real people.

The prose is easy to read and I’m anxiously awaiting book 2.

Rating: 5/5 Penguins
Quick Reasons: well-written, though sometimes slightly confusing, multi-POV; these characters are EVERYTHING; fast-paced, thought provoking, richly built story; deeply purple prose; fated mates meets why choose; WHAT EVEN WAS THAT ENDING?!

HUGE thanks to DeAnna Hill and Midnight Tide Publishing for the title! My review is voluntarily written and in no way altered or impacted by this gesture.

"The dagger, well I just thought you might like one. So I had it made for you. Seems appropriate you have a way to keep yourself safe, in the event I'm not around. There is always a shark in the waters even if it can't be seen. I want you to be the shark."

I had a hard time choosing quotes for this review, Penguins. Not because the writing isn't brilliantly, richly purple--it definitely is. No, I had a hard time choosing quotes because I had a hard time STOPPING to highlight them. Seriously, this book dragged me beneath the surface and KEPT me there until the very end. I had a terrible time trying to set this read aside once I started, duty-bound to see it through to the very very end.

And speaking of the ending.....WHAT EVEN WAS THAT?!?!?!?! I cannot handle it. This is yet another book blowing to the top of my "I NEED THE NEXT BOOK" list, and Penguins, that list is getting MIGHTY long these days. So let me repeat myself--I. NEED. The next book ASAP. These characters are subtle in their ability to sneak beneath your skin and burrow there forevermore. I was DETERMINED to absolutely not in any capacity of the word like one of them....and yet.......... AND YET. Here I am, at the end, grappling with everything I thought I'd steeled myself against early on. This story is fast-paced, lush with finely crafted world building, and will take you on a journey you won't see coming. This book takes the idea of fated mates and FLIPS it entirely on its head. This book leaves you breathless, wondering why you didn't see that coming. And this book? Will leave you wholly un-moored at the end. Is that even a word? I'm fairly confident it is, but....oh well, it matters not.

"But you are the tug the ocean feels toward the moon. Regardless of what phase of life you are in, I want to follow you. I want to let you go, but I want more. I know I can't have you...but maybe just one more time..."

I definitely recommend checking out this debut by DeAnna Hill in 2024, Penguins. This book is perfect for those who adore fated mates, fast-paced reads, and multiple POV storylines. The journey will leave you breathless, gasping, wondering, NEEDING to know what happens next. Can YOU handle the Heat of the Seas, Penguins?

" I may never gain her heart, but he'll never fully have her either. All of us are the same, our desires and duties divided. "

I believe DeAnna has been someone I followed from very early on in my Booksta journey. I was so excited when I remember seeing she was going to be writing a book. Do I really know her or have really talked to her, no, but I've been excited to see her in this journey.

Everyone needs to add this to their TBR or carts ASAP! This was one of those Fantasy reads that just immediately drew me into their world. I adored this read so so much! It has carved a special place in my heart.

Carnaxa's Dad reminded me of Jasmines dad from Aladdin for some reason. Except he was a lot more knowing and caring, but still annoying with old traditions.

Ereon...I liked him for literally 5 seconds and then he just kept digging himself further and further. BUT THEN DeAnna made us start to fall for him anyway. 🥹
"He is a man of woman's dreams ... but my dream is a nightmare."

I was enamored with Thylas immediately. He is so protective of Carnaxa and literally worships the ground she walks on. He did a few things that were a little annoying, but I could never be mad at him!
" I serve and protect her, not the kingdom, not her father ... only her. It’s always been her. "

I'm so freaking excited to see where the next book takes us, because that cliffhanger has got me wanting more ASAP! I just love prophecies in fantasy reads.

This debut…..DAMN!! The heat of the seas completely lives up to its title and really brings on the heat and tension a fantasy reader could wish for. The book is easy to read, not confusing at all and has a great storyline. Combine that with complex characters, beautiful world building, romances that will have you swooning and a truly unique lore and you get the stunning novel that is The heat of the seas. I absolutely LOVED this book. It was exciting, emotional, frustrating, funny, and SPICY. Everything I love in a book.

The world building in my opinion was fantastic. I was actually both amazed and impressed with this storyline. You could easily see how much thought and effort was put into writing this. The languages, the way different cultures were explained in such detail you could picture it vividly. I loved how the roles were for women in Antalis. I genuinely wished the real world was that way. I think that’s one of the things I loved most about this book.

The twists and turns were everything too. I found myself loving characters I hated at the beginning of the book and being shocked at how everything led up to that change for me. I absolutely adore Carnaxa but I honestly loved getting to know every character. Siphonie was also a favorite. Her free-spirited nature was great and I enjoyed her. The men? MOST of them were so easily to love and they were hot 🥵 there were certain parts that elevated my heart rate and had me giggling kicking my feet.

The buildup to the end was also top tier. I didn’t feel this book lacked anything. It was perfect and I honestly cannot wait for the next book. The ending was perfect and stoped exactly where it should have because the anticipation for book two is going to hurt meeee but in the best way.

The multi-pov also gave just enough to fully understand what was happening but also left enough for the imaginations to run wild while awaiting the second book as well.

My fantasy readers, even romance readers who only dabble into fantasy would love this.

Diving into this book was like uncovering a hidden gem within a vast sea of stories. With its unique and captivating world-building, it drew me in from the very first page. Imagine stepping into a realm where equality isn’t just a dream but a living, breathing reality. A world crafted by the talented Deanna, where women stand tall, shoulder to shoulder with men, free to pursue their passions and desires without the shadow of judgment or critique.

What truly set it apart was the raw embrace of human nature and our deepest instincts. The protagonist, Carnaxa, became more than a character to me; she was a reflection of every fear and hope. Her journey into a kingdom that threatens to cage her very essence, to suppress the vibrancy of what Antalis ingrained within her. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, each twist and turn in her story tugging at my heartstrings, urging me forward, desperate to see how she would navigate the challenges laid before her.

This world, so richly woven with threads of courage, acceptance, and the relentless pursuit of identity, has left me yearning for more. With every page turned, I found myself more invested, riding the waves of anticipation for what lies ahead. The story is far from over, and I am on the edge of my seat, eager to dive back in and discover the fate that awaits Carnaxa and the vibrant world she inhabits.

Ok for starters can we talk about the covers? The paperback is amazing and so is the hardcover I mean seriously they are outstanding. The bonus chapters sound just what you need if you really want more. I love the chapter names all different then just one or 2 people in a point of view. Carnaxa, Thylas, Ereon are the point of views through out the novel. Love the map as I said many times before I love when books have maps it makes picturing everything so much better. At least to me. The playlist I have to admit I played all the songs while I read the novel. Not to mention the Glossary and Terms page which I love that it helps pronounce the names or places or anything and some have information so with that its not hard at all to picture or say anything.
Ok now onto the actually thoughts from me.. Forbidden Love, Arranged Marriage, Royalty, Morally Grey, Slow Burn / Spice, Chosen One, Multiple POV I mean just by that was just describing this story and made it so fascinating to get ahold of. Moments through out the novel or so well thought out and so imaginative. I swear I could not have an imagination like this but for the time period reading this I felt like I was drove into a fantasy world where I didn't want to leave. This book literally left me wanting more and the cliffhanger made me want to hold and wait at that cliff no matter how long to wait for book 2 and continue on with this marvelous endearing story. Also its based off Atlantis just a different twist but still amazing and worth getting your hands on. I will be watching this author and grabbing that next installment as soon as I can.

The Heat of Seas is the first book in the Ashonera series, and lovers of dark fantasy novels are not going to want to miss out on this book! It is a delicious read that will keep you coming back for more.
Carnaxa is a the princess of Antalis, but she is being made to marry a prince from another kingdom. While this prince has been in her kingdom for some time now he has made little time to actually spend time with her or get to know her. Carnaxa is used to how things are for her kingdom, and is enjoying the moments that she has remaining. She has no idea what is in store for her with her soon-to-be husband and the strictness that they hold over their own women.
Carnaxa has spirit, but she will have to hold her tongue if she is survive this change. The author does a good job depicting the differences between each of the characters. The story is told from the first person perspective of each of the primary characters that the story focuses on.
You're going to be drawn to despise her betrothed. Trust us on this one...he comes off as a real jerk. Now, that is what you see in public. In private...primarily his own thoughts you get a different view of him. You may be lead to soften towards him...a touch, but not by much. LOL!
This book packs a lot of twists and turns in, and will keep you page-turning to find out what happens next. Nothing is what it seems and the ending will leave you begging for more.

“I don’t want to be free from you. My home has never truly been Antalis. I pledged my loyalty to you, and it’s you I will follow. You are my home, not the sands or seas of any kingdoms.”

The story was wonderfully written and so captivating!
It’s told from multiple POVs and also has scenes that go back in time, both of which helped me relate to, understand, and fall in love with each character fully.
Let me tell you: secrets, morally grey men, body guards… DELICIOUS.
The FMC is kindhearted, loyal, and passionate. I loved seeing her growth throughout the book and can’t wait to see her further develop into her true strength (and perhaps power?) in future books!

The world building was beautifully woven together and well thought through. I love the way DeAnna Hill writes with vivid imagery and the way she connected the characters with found family really allowed me to follow each perspective and story through their eyes, seeing the world and struggles each one faces. There is so much we learn and so many other secrets that are kept in the dark making me crave more…. And the cliffhanger! I need book two like I need air!

I highly recommend this read if you like
- dark romance fantasy
- Forbidden love
- Royalty
- Prophecies
- Plotting
- Secrets (from many characters)
- Arranged marriage
- Slow burn with steam
- World building

Hey, my friend wrote a book, you guys!!! I’m so excited for DeAnna to have her book baby out in the world- I absolutely DEVOURED this fantasy romance. I know I’m going to be thinking about this one for a long time- book two WHEN??

The world-building was so well done and the pacing of the story was fantastic. DeAnna’s writing is very descriptive and I could picture all of the settings so perfectly in my mind.

The character development was so freaking good!! Just when you think you have someone figured out, there were twists and turns and emotions I was NOT expecting at all. I freaking loved all of the main characters. Carnaxa was so well-written, she is strong and feisty but also extremely vulnerable. I’ll let you make up your mind about the two MMCs but lemme just say, *ahem* 🫡 I don’t even know what to say actually without spoiling anything so I’ll just leave you with that. But the spice in this book did NOT disappoint 🥵

Some tropes you’ll find in THOS:
•forbidden love
•prophecies
•one bed 😌
•arranged marriage
•Atlantis vibes
•world building
•dark fantasy themes
•spice spice baby 🌶️

Please check into TW as this does cover some darker themes and has some on-page content that could be triggering for some readers 🩵

This was a beautiful story of forbidden love, loyalty, and duty. Antalis is a beautiful crafted kingdom by the sea that I would love to visit.

I really enjoyed Hill's characters, Carnaxa is strong and dutiful, Captain Thylas is quite the heart throb, sexy, and loyal to a fault. I loved how Prince Ereon's character unfolds as we move through the story. The first glimpses we get of him paints him as an arrogant bigot who will be a difficult and controlling husband for Carnaxa. But as we learn more about his motives and the man behind the mask I couldn't help but fall in love with him too.

The forbidden love that has the potential of turning into a love triangle, why choose, has me hooked! I really love the dynamics between the three POV characters.

For me the second half of the book is where the story really starts, and once I hit that 50% mark it was impossible to put down. The first half of the book has some very beautiful world building, but also quite a bit of repetition. That being said I am excited to see what happens next!

Triger warnings: This book is spicy but also explores themes around sexuality and how it is viewed by different cultures. There is also an on page sexual assault.

This was a truly gripping fantasy romance. I absolutely devoured it in one sitting and stayed up until 3 am because I could not put it down.

The characters in this book are interesting, diverse and had very distinct characteristics. I really enjoyed reading about them and learning more about their stories. The relationships and dynamics were fantastic and so compelling to read.

I enjoyed seeing Carnaxa's character development - going from being this protected princess to someone who was beginning to stand on her own two feet and develop some fire. I hope to see more of this as the series goes on because she has all the makings of being an amazing warrior and leader.

Thylas and Erion are amazing - the author did a great job at making me fall in love with Ereon who I had started off really hating. Im hoping we don't reach a point where she has to choose between them, I'm not sure id be able to.

The plot of this book is clever, the world building is really compelling.

This is a fab start to a new romantasy series, I'm not sure how I am going to wait another year for the next one.

This book has it all! DeAnna did not disappoint! I was so happy to get an arc copy but of course all thoughts and feelings are my own.

Two kingdoms, each with their own beliefs and social systems that shouldn't be merged if not for this arranged marriage.

There's so much dedication into the world building in this fantasy. The world itself comes together beautifully with her writing style. Antalis sounds beautiful and sunny.

I cannot wait to see where DeAnna takes us in book two.
