This is a story about Melissa. She has a baby brother and 2 parents. She learns in this story the importance of making good choices!
The author does a nice job taking different examples that happened to Melissa and what can be done differently when making a good choice!
Melissa, learns to pause and take a deep breath like she’s smelling a rose! Thinking of the consequences of her choice!
Different examples are given for choices. At the end is a list of good choices and other outcomes. This list can be a great talking/teaching point as the parent or other adult reading the book to the child, can figure out good choices together.
This book is fun to read with lively rhyming sentences. The lovely illustrations follow along with the book and are very engaging.

I really liked this new book for young readers/listeners. Cole's background in psychology and education gives her the insight to write a good rhyming story that shows kids a better way to navigate their worlds when things don't go the way they want them to. In this story, Melissa sometimes erupts with anger or other bad behavior and regrets it later. Her dad helps her regulate her behavior by having her practice stopping, thinking, and breathing. The story continues by showing how that works for Melissa. The back matter includes a chart of choices and an author note directed at the reader. None of us is perfect, but we can help children behave better by giving them tips like this that they can use. Tips in story form go down more easily than lectures every time!

Life is hard for children growing up. Sometimes they don't understand the rules of good behavior. The author writes a rhyming story that teaches children, and those who love them, why making good choices is important. The author has cute illustrations to keep children engaged and teaches a moral without having that teaching feel like a lecture. All ages can learn something important in this beautiful tale.

This is such a sweet story that teaches little ones how to make the right decisions to be good human beings.

Controlling Anger
What fun you’re going to have sharing this cute rhyming book with the Littles in your life. Elizabeth Cole does an amazing job, teaching young children,on their level, how to control anger. Children will laugh at the antics at the beginning which they will relate
to. The comparison of choices in the end is a nice touch. I must for teachers, parents and grandparents.

Great book!
This book was really good. My 7 year old really enjoyed it! I highly recommend this book. I loved the think twice about it part . My daughter had lots of questions, and it was fund explaining it .

My Way to Good Choices is another fantastic installment in My Way Series, starting with Melissa—a usually lovely and lively girl—who gets angry when her younger brother ruins her doll. In her frustration, she breaks his favorite toy. It’s a scenario most parents can relate to (myself included), and simply telling kids that their actions were wrong doesn’t always work, especially in the long term. They need to understand and process it on their own, too.
Reading this book with my child was an amazing experience. She immediately recognized that Melissa’s reaction wasn’t the right choice, though I know she might have done the same in a similar situation. As we read further, I loved how the story opened up opportunities for us to discuss better ways to handle such situations.
Like the other book in this series, the author presents multiple relatable scenarios, each offering valuable lessons. I especially appreciated the solution emphasized in this book: stopping for a moment, breathing through your emotions, and thinking about the situation and the consequences of the choices you make.
My child enjoyed this so much that we read it more than once, and I can tell she’s becoming a fan of this series. I’m excited to encourage her to practice the “Stop. Breathe. Think. Choices and Consequences” approach in real life.
The illustrations are absolutely adorable, with expressive characters and pleasing, vibrant colors. Highly recommended for parents looking to nurture emotional intelligence in their kids!
