He’ll take her to his lair, chain her down, and finally be able to touch her…
Creed and Angel soon discover their one night of bliss has dangerous consequences.
I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.
No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.
The second GarLycan story of the series and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The story is about Creed, a GarLycan who is more Gargoyle than Lycan. Thus, he suppresses this feelings and he thinks that he cannot feel love.
“I love you.” “You are my only weakness, Angel.” That was as good as saying he loved her.
One day, he will discovered a little girl, dirty, beaten and scared and he will take her and fly her away from her miserable and loveless home. He will give her to a nice couple of Lycans who do not have children and they will raise her as their child and as one of the pack. The pack that Creed protects. They will accept her and love her and she will have a wonderful life until Creed rejects her and she decides to move away.
24 years later, she will have her chance to help Creed. Creed has only had one lover before in his life and after Angel, he does not want another but he will hesitate to tell her and mate with her. Luckily their destiny has to be entwined.
Creed and Angel will end up together, but then they have to convince Aveoth and the rest of the GarLycans that they have had good reasons to break the law. It’s a good thing that Aveoth believes in justice and true love. Thus, although the couple has to be punished, their punishment will be fair.
“You really do love her. You’ve had it bottled up for years. You need to tell Aveoth this.”
I was sure that GarLycan would be the most interesting creatures and I was not mistaken. They have their own rules, their own rituals and wonderful stories to tell.
There will be the beginning of another storyline towards the end with the missing Lycan children, which makes me salivating for the next books.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: ❤️💙💜💚 Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎 Character development: 😠☺️😋😍 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Solo Narration
The heroine:Angel - she was starved and abused as a child by her father and stepmother. One day a big man with wings saved her. His name was Creed and he told her that he was her guardian angel and took her away and gave her to new Lycan parents who would love her and care for her. The couple wanted a child more than anything and he promised that she would never live like that again and that her new parents would make sure she was safe and happy.
The Hero:Creed - he is a GarLycan and he has made sure to turn off his feelings after he was given to the council as a child by his parents and put into a kind of indentured servitude. When Aveoth took over for the GarLycan clan he gave Creed a decent assignment away from the clan, protecting a pack of Lycans. The only time he had felt anything that let him know he was still alive was the day he found Angel and gave her to her Lycan parents.
The Story: 24 years later, Angel had moved from Alaska to Washington State for work. Though she is back for a visit after getting a call from her mother that sounded urgent. Her mother told her about ‘the ravage’, which is when male GarLycans go into heat, and it happens once every thirty years and they need someone to be intimate with.
It is a ritual of sorts which includes the female being tied to a bed and ‘ravaged’. Prior to being mated to her father, her mother was chosen by the guardian before Creed. The ravage is now upon Creed, and he asked for volunteers. Nobody volunteered because the women are afraid of him. So, her mother asked Angel to step up because if nobody else does, Creed could die from it.
Angel had a crush on Creed and once put herself out there for him only to be rejected. She has hardly spoken to him since but doesn’t want him to die or go crazy. This was quite a different storyline than all the prior books, but I liked it. Creed was a nice guy, but he was forced to turn his emotions off and seemed so lonely that you had to like him.
This book is told in multiple points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Savannah Richards. She has been doing a terrific job on this whole series so far and I am so surprised that I haven’t gotten sick of her voice or the series yet even though I have listened to them one after another.
I said it before and I will say it again this series is outstanding! I want more… No wait… I NEEEEED more.
I loved the dynamic in this book, I loved that Angel is totally a kick-butt chick. She knew her story from a young age and went with it.
Sure she had some hard choices to make when she was young because she knew she couldn’t stay where she was because her heart was broken. But she picked herself back up and was stronger for it.
Creed... Well now... I said it before … I love the brooding ones. Hehe and boy oh boy is Creed king of the brood. But again it’s understandable because of his background.
I LOVED the end, I won’t say why because I don’t want to give anything away. But it was nice to see a little bit of unity when there might not have been.
Savannah Richards knocks this series out of the park she really does a great job giving us all such unique voices for these unique characters.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*
This has got to be my fave VLG book. Creed (H) was a celibate hero for 30 yrs!! He only had 1 other sexual experience and that was because he went into heat and could not avoid it, else he will go insane. Once he met Angel (h) as a teenager, he also never thought of having a lover as he knew she had feelings for him.
Angel was a good heroine and she was NOT TSTL. She followed instructions for her safety (ran away when needed, hid in the room when there was fighting outside). She didn't unnecessarily put herself in harm's way and she was not whiny and argumentative.
I liked the conflict and can understand why Creed took so long to claim her and it was accidental only because he was going into heat again. He really did not expect that he was allowed to have a mate as Gargoyle rules were so strict as he was indentured for 100 yrs (not allowed to mate else very harsh punishment).
I liked the dialogue in this book, it was better than the previous ones. I'm intrigued by Creed's brothers and hope to read what happens to them too.
Enjoyable. Angel talked a lot, kind of annoying, she was ok. Creed was great. Super sweet and cute. I'm looking forward to what happens next in the clans and whomever is next to get mated. Happy reading!
I was so happy when I saw this drop in my kindle, but now I'm sad because I finished reading it. I love shifters, but have never gotten into vampires and much less gargoyles. Who would have thought all I needed was all those things combined ?
I have loved this series since the first book. I think she did a cool job at taking us from one pack, to another pack, then to the cliffs. While the books are linked, they're not repetitive or boring. This one in particular has given us 3 more characters I hope to hear about because the just seem so awesome (Creed's brothers).
I liked it, there really isn't much more I can say without sounding like I'm over selling this book. It was a great story, I liked the relationship between the main characters, and if this is your genre, then you won't be disappointed. Couple of typos here and there but that could be worse right ? Solid addition to the series.
Honestly, I was a bit worried about Angel and Creed because of his situation thanks to Creeds SOB father. But I shouldn't have. It got taken cared of in splendid way. I love Creed. Safety lovers will adore him. Though he couldn't be with Angel when she become 18th, Creed only had her in his heart for years. Angel was great too. I love her personality. And she did can kick ass.
Oh wow! I’m not sure how the author manages to keep coming up with these amazing concepts, but this book sure manages to hit all of the marks. Creed and Angel have been through the emotional wringer, but the created such a wonderful path for us to travel on the way to their HEA. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
GarLycan Creed saved human child Angel from abusive parents and gave her to a childless VampLycan couple to bring up.
When Angel offered herself to him once she came of age, Creed cut their relationship because his father has given him as a servant to the clan for 100 years and is not allowed to mate until his time is served.
But when Creed requested a female volunteer to help him with his ravage (heat) issue that comes around every 30 years, Angel's adoptive mother suggests for Angel to volunteer knowing Angel is still in love with Creed.
Then everything got complicated when Creed bit Angel during sex.
There is a bit of a common theme with bad fathers. Creed's pure Gargoyle father is part of the ruling council and is disgusted that he had to mate a lycan and that all his sons are mixed blood.
I mostly liked the first two hours or so of the audiobook, after that, meh (around 5 more hours). I wish those first two hours would have been deeper and more developed so that I would have had more base to care for the rest. As it is, it would have work just as well as a novella, maybe even better. Still, it was an improvement over other books from this series.
4.5 stars. I absolutely loved this book, these two had my heart. I know I called double dibs on Aveoth (I still do), but I’m thinking with a side of Creed or maybe an Aveoth and Creed “sandwich”....*winks*. Creed had me when he saved Angel from her father and his girlfriend, that were constantly abusing her. He took her back to the pack he was guarding and gave her to a couple that couldn’t have kids of their own...warmed my damn heart so much. They raised and loved her like their own, they are amazing parents. The entire pack treated her like one if their own, it was so refreshing since most of the books in this series are not very human friendly.
When Angel (that’s the name he gave her as a child *swoon*) becomes an adult she tells Creed that she loves him, but he can’t take a mate because he was sworn into years served by his asshole dad. She leaves the pack heart broken. I didn’t give this 5 stars because as you all know, I hate time apart. Angel ended up having her first with someone else 😕...even though she wanted Creed. Thankfully he was never with anyone after saving her....he only wanted her, but couldn’t have her....dibs.
Fast forward 10ish years and her parents call her back to be with Creed for his ravage, which is like heat, but more intense since it only comes every 30 years. These two are explosive together and Angel doesn’t back down. When he lets her up....she goes back for more, wanting to take as much of him as she can. Then we get an accidental mating and some baby batter thoughts. Him trying to save her from punishment, but really doesn’t go as planned and she has to kick some werewolf ass. They end up having to go and receive punishment for mating, by Aveoth. And my man was just as sweet as ever.
We get some more answers and some taking out of the crappy council. We get to see more of our favorite clan characters and get to meet a few more that will probably be favorites as well. I absolutely loved this book and these two really had my heart, soul mates for sure. This book will definitely be a re-read for me, loved it that much.
A child mistreated by her stepmother and father is rescued by a "guardian angel" who takes her to live with a childless couple. From Anna, this girl begins to be called angel (she was blonde).
The years pass, and this girl, now a woman, who lives alone, sometimes goes to visit the kind couple that raised her. It is when her mother asks her to do a favor: to take care of a GarLycan period that can be very painful , and if not attended to in time, may lead to death> the Ravage.
Ravage is the heat period of the Garlycans, and the sex is intense, wild. Creed's father had demanded that his own son become a slave only because the son was not a pure gargoyle. Upon reaching the heat, no woman offered to help him, so Angel's mother asked her to help him.
Creed always knew that Angel was in love with him - she'd confessed to him years ago. But he turned her down. Angel also had no luck in her relationships with humans in the city.
At first, Angel meets Creed in need of it, but then they have sex again, which leads him to see that he had disobeyed an order because he was still a slave (period of 100 years, and therefore he could not have a mate). He tells Angel to run away and not even tell her parents where she would go.
The problem is that with the mating thing, Angel has a smell that attracts other men, and when she went to California, she was attacked by a werewolf. Fray and Chaz go to her rescue at the behest of Kelzeb, Aveoth's friend.
Angel is brought before the presence of Aveoth, and she offers to receive the punishment in the place of Creed, and Aveoth accepts the offer. And Creed would be her "executioner" and guardian for the next 6 months.
There is still a lot of confusion because Creed's father does not accept that his son is not punished as the law demands, in addition, the Council, now dismantled by Aveoth because they want to follow the old laws, decides to begin an internal war.
Creed sees himself face to face with his three older brothers: Nebulas, Glacier and Tempest. 5 stars
I liked this one. Although the part where they mated by accident was a bit lame, otherwise it was good. Loved how faithful he was to his love for her. When he said he didn’t take a lover from the village because he knew it would hurt her... awww. And the poor man had been treated so badly, I’m glad he found love. And he fought for her love and to keep her safe. Yay! It’s probably hypocritical of me, but I also liked that she didn’t stay celibate for him after he rejected her advances. The difference is that she thought he didn’t care about her at all - so good on her for not pathetically saving herself regardless. Oh, and finally a heroine who listens to the hero when he says go into the other room and stay there while I fight!

This was a great story. It brought a conclusion and a new beginning for many of the characters. It opened avenues of opportunities for many individuals. There are long overdue reunions and established loyalties. Creed makes mistakes due to misinformation. He learns that he truly matters and that there are those he can depend on to have his back. I am truly looking forward to the next book in this series. I wonder who it will be? a scout? a brother? a VampLycan? a GarLycan?
Really felt like LD was sleepwalking when she wrote this one. Everything was just too easy/convenient/filler.
Creed's dad sucks! He's spent his whole life (about 60 yrs?) being subjugated by his dad. I liked his character but was kind of disappointed that he didn't live up to the blurb. He doesn't ever come across as cold an unfeeling. It might have been nice to have had some evidence of that, to contrast against his new 'loving mate' persona. Sure he isn't as goofy as his brothers, but he's anything but aloof. When Angel (a human) was 5 she was rescued by Creed (a Garlycan) and brought to live with a group of Lycans that it's his job to guard. Her heart is broken when she tells him of her love in her late teens and so she moves away. (why are all LD's heroines almost 30???) But now he is about to go into heat/ravage and her mother calls her back to 'help out'. (snicker, snicker) slightly obvious spoiler
This is one of my favorite installments of the VLG series so far. I really like the Gargoyles since they're so mysterious and their customs are quite unique.
Angel didn't get on my nerves and Creed was a brooding hottie.
Very bittersweet story… Creed has convinced himself that he feels almost nothing, to be by the standards imposed on him by his father, but Angel breaks all boundaries… Honestly, I was hoping for the mating like this, uncontrollable, something that was simply destined to be, no matter the consequences… And the consequences could be very severe… That’s exactly why Creed is fighting his feelings. Honestly, I don't know how I would deal with the constant rejection that Angel had to deal with, so no wonder she left… And for the opportunity to at least once be with the man I love, yes… I would probably agree to anything... I'm certainly glad that Aveoth found love, so he can recognize that in Creed and adjust the situation accordingly. The battle between the families is quite drastic, the situation with his parents is as sad as hers… I am glad that the brothers are with him, their baby brother. Sweet story, with interesting customs!
1:25 star ⭐️⭐️ I liked the plot but I didn't like the ritual cult-like theme of the story, it was creepy like hell, and I resent reading it and even having to go through it , that's why I skimmed most of that crap (I endured the blood ritual and now in Creed's we had chains and black cap and volunteered sex, I wonder what's next, a human sacrifice?! ) 😠😒
Téma chrličů bylo velmi zajímavé. Já nemám co této autorce kritizovat 😅 vždycky mě dostane. Hlavní postavy kteří se vzájemně zachraňují a téma "prokletí" kdy spolu údajně být nemohou. Skvělé hlavně vidět dospívat hlavní hrdinku a čekat kdy se konečně hlavní hrdinové dají dohromady.
Well, this was a refreshing surprise. I’ve been on a fantasy kick – really more like a huge, epic, high fantasy kick and just needed a break. I wanted to read something that wasn’t 1000 pages and something that just let me go with the story. My usual MO with finding a new series is to find out how many books in the series, look up and find the beginning of the series, and then start with book 1. There is nothing worse than starting a book and then realizing that you’ve picked up book 7 in an 8 book series …….usually. This time, I was so mentally worn out that I looked up the series, downloaded books 1 through 8 and then decided…what the heck! The book that had originally caught my attention was Creed, and I discovered that it was book 8 of an 8 book series. When I read the book summary my first thought was “hmmm, interesting”. After downloading the other books, I decided that each book was a separate couple and it would probably be okay to just jump right in – so – that’s what I did.
Refreshing is the word that I think best describes my feelings. It might be that I was so ready for a different genre, or it might be that the timing was right, but I enjoyed the book. This was my first time with Laurann Dohner and I’ve since learned that she has many series to her credit. The premise of the VLG series was something that caught my attention. I mean, really….we see so many books with Vampires and Werewolves, but Gargoyles? And a Half Lycan / Half Gargoyle? How does that even work? So, because I started at the end I was not sure how much world building was done in the beginning. It was great to just go with the flow. I enjoyed the characters and the story and everything was complete and finished with a HEA by the end of the book. I think that part of the reason that I enjoyed it so much was the lack of “sheer stupidity” with the main characters. You know the normal Alpha male romance….boy meets girl (whichever species they happen to be), they are attracted to each other, have sex, decide they like each other but become completely moronic with reasons why they can’t be together until at the end they decide they “LOVE” each other and can’t live without one another. Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it makes for a wonderful story and the story arc is full with UST and conflict and it all climaxes with a bang and leaves you feeling great that the characters finally got it all figured out. This, on the other hand, was different – and the perfect kind of different for me at the right time. The main characters in this story don’t have a problem with each other - their issue is with the world that has been created by Laurann Dohner. It is kind of an us against the world thing and boy was I rooting them on. The story was a perfect stand alone and I did not feel like I missed anything by not having read any of the previous books in the series.
I thought that Angel was a great lead character. She was funny, strong and the perfect combination of feisty to match Creed’s aloofness. It was great to see her bring him to life and the two of them together were fun to see develop. There was also a good backdrop of personalities that come together because of this couple and it was fascinating to see the way they affected the overall story. The relationship between Creed and his father was challenging. It was heartbreaking to realize everything that had been done to Creed by his father. (I think this is one instance where I’m sure I would have had more information on the father and his relationship to the clan from the prior books in the series – but even with only having read this one book, it did not in any way make his father any less disgusting. I can’t imagine how much more I would have hated him if there had been even more history and examples of his depravity…but, I digress…..)
Overall, I enjoyed the story and it left me with a good feeling as I completed the book. This was a fast read - I both read the book and listened to it on Audible on my way to work. The narrator did a great job and kept me in the story. It kept me entertained and enthralled throughout the entire book. Gargoyles and Lycans….who knew??!!
