And so, a cursed deal is struck.

Five years later, Victoria is alive—and the world’s finest ship captain. But her debt to the siren looms while her conniving ex has demanded a king’s ransom as the final price of her freedom. Victoria refuses to cause her family to suffer any more on her behalf, and is determined to make things right before her time is up. But that time is cut short.

The siren comes for her. Six months early.

Taken to the magical and deadly Eversea, home of the sirens, Victoria discovers she’s the sacrifice upon which all sirens pin their hopes. If they want to appease an angry god and save a world on the brink of destruction, then they need her. Which gives her the perfect leverage.

Victoria strikes a new the Siren Duke will help save her family, and she’ll fulfill his demands. It’s a good bargain until a flicker of passion ignites in the scarred remnants of Victoria's heart, threatening all she's worked for. As the sacrifice for the God of Death, she’s meant to give up everything that draws her to the world of the living. But that’s impossible when all she can think about is how this handsome siren’s song, and his hands, make her feel very much alive.

In a realm of ancient magic, submerged secrets, and forgotten gods, can love find a place among shattered hearts as they race against time and the blossoming of forbidden desires? Or will the delicate songs of their hearts be silenced once and for all?

More like 2.5 but we'll round up to be nice

The beginning of this book was good but like the last one ((which i hated)) i felt like it needed some serious editing because it felt SO LONG and repetitive. The first and second book in this series were so good but idk about these new ones..... Maybs shes writing them too fast because the quality is def down

The graphic audio was really good though, especially with all the siren singing and stuff! I hate the smooching noises though

Well... things started going a bit downhill for me too. 🙁 This one was more original and I loved reading about a underwater world and sirens (!!!) but the tone and theme were kinda depressing and draggy. On the plus side, I liked the narrators better and I still enjoyed the graphic audio effects and reading.

It's just the plot that lost me...

Another amazing tale by Elise Kova. Based very loosely on Orpheus and Eurydice and the Little Mermaid, the story begins with Victoria making a deal with a siren Duke, Ilryth, to escape her very unfortunate circumstances. Any more explanation would be somewhat spoilery, but it is an epic story of love, redemption, and life after trauma.

I cannot stress enough Kova’s mastery of, well, story telling. No stone is unturned in Victoria’s journey to learn how to be loved. Her backstory, and subsequent ptsd, is handled well. Every feeling is explored fully, but in such a way that it wasn’t repetitive or boring. The love story was perfect. Kova’s writing is beautiful, but this story had me kicking my feet, sweating with concern, and literally crying. Not to mention the world building is always great- I love how she handled all the aspects of being a siren (mermaid).

This has turned out to be one of my favorite in the interconnected standalones. The story was really complex and the characters were wonderful. I’ll stop gushing now 😭

I listened to the audiobook with a full cast- all of the actors were great. I like how they handled the singing without actually having much song.

I thought after listening to A Duel with the Vampire Lord, this series would start to become boring because each story became a bit repetitive. In A Duet with the Siren Duke, yes, a woman gets "taken" in some way either from a deal or arranged marriage but learns about the magic of Midscape, its magical beings, and tries to be brave to undo a curse in their world blah, blah, blah like the previous books. I did find this book a bit boring and dragging a bit, however, I did enjoy how the way it ended. But the reason I stick with this series are the main characters and their developments. I find their backstories to be more interesting to listen to and enjoy how their chemistry comes to life.

Basic Plot: A woman escapes her abusive marriage only to find herself bound to a siren as a sacrifice to a god.

Sound complicated? Yep. Overly so? Oh yes. This book was longer and more convoluted than other books of this series, and I found myself losing focus a lot. There were some fun ties to the other books of this series, but this one was both strange and bland, at the same time and I have no idea how both descriptors can be true at once, and yet they are. I didn't really connect to the characters, and the only thing that saved this one for me was the absolutely gorgeous music of the Graphic Audio production.

This was so beautifully written. It was devastating and heartwarming. Two lovers destined to live apart… I found my self laughing and crying within minutes of each other.

Elise always weaves her words to make a magical story come to life and this was no exception.

I am absolutely loving this series!

I loved the dramatized Audio adaptation of
A Duet with the Siren Duke by Elise Kova. The sound effects and music really added to the story. The trauma that Victoria goes through and overcomes was really touching. This is the Fourth book is the married to magic series but it is a standalone.

Overall a good read. I liked the other Married to Magic books a bit more than this one. But Victoria and Illryrth have such a great build up that still made this thoroughly enjoyable.

Elise Kova expands her brilliant and romantic MARRIED TO MAGIC series with sirens this time, telling a story of fate, sacrifice, and forbidden love.

After escaping a terrible marriage by becoming a sacrifice, Captain Victoria is swept into the majestic realm of the sirens as they attempt to appease their gods.

Victoria is self-sacrificing and down on herself, struggling with confidence and self-worth. It’s hard not to root for her so she sees how good she is. Ilyrth is a complicated love interest whose layers are frequently peeled back as his forbidden romance with Victoria is explored. I truly enjoyed the chemistry between them.

The story is focused on character growth and the realm’s lore, though it offers plenty of creative adventures, a staple of Elise’s Kova’s stories. Filled with banter and a hint of spice with an unconventional but welcome ending, I truly enjoyed A DUET WITH THE SIREN DUKE

This book starts out pretty intense. A woman running from her abuser. A merman giving her a blessing. Then she’s a captain of a great ship. But once the story plunges beneath the waves, things slow down. Way down. I felt like I was underwater myself, drifting with the current. There’s an urgency to appease a god of death and save the world of merfolk, but it’s also not really all that urgent. The meat of the book is kind of lulling and that’s probably why I read this one slower than the others. The pace picks up again at the end, and the ending is very different than the others. This book actually pulls together all the other books in the series. There’s mention of the human queen of course, then the silver mines that send shipments to the vampire hunters and we find out what happened to Lord Applegate. I definitely recommend reading or listening to this one last.

I really love all of the stories in this series. I love that this book really brings it all together with more of the world building, background of the gods, the magic and connecting all the stories together at the end to wrap up series for the next book.
This book is inspired by The Little Mermaid.
Or MFC Victoria makes a deal with a siren Duke to help save her from a nightmare situation she was stuck in. The journey she goes through to learn how to be loved, fight for that new love, overcoming her painful past and PTSD is well written. You go through so many emotions reading this book.

Graphic Audio is one of my favorite ways to listen. I loved every GA version in this series. I started it at random and was hooked immediately.
The voice actors did a great job bring this story to life. The singing with out actual singing was really good. This is one of my favorites in the series.

This was my first mermaid romantasy. While it was a fun premise and I love that he fell first, some of the mechanics of this world felt clunky.

They communicate by telepathy and EVERYONE can hear her thinking, but she seems to learn to control it right away and then gets a protective shell necklace much later to help her control her mental broadcasting? The sirens and MFC float, but not when they sleep? People just arrive on your balcony and enter your home because there seems to be no door?

This story borrows themes from The Little Mermaid and Pirates of the Caribbean and is cosmically cerebral, especially the last 30 minutes of listening. In the end, I liked the story, but not as much as I enjoyed "A Deal with the Elf King" and "A Duel with the Vampire Lord".

Darkest secrets holding back Victoria from being the most she can be. Allowing parts of her to be removed thinking it is for the better, only to find love. Loving all parts of her even when they are "broken" in her mind. Self sacrifice for the good of the land, magic, choosing love, but most of all learning that you are worth more. Wonderful love story.

The audio book was wonderful. Having the different characters throughout the book was fantastic. There were a few times the music was off but it was over quickly.
The spicy scenes were a little more awkward while listening through earbuds because of the sharp breathing.

No. The beginning was promising I was totally invested in the divorced pirate concept. but as it got halfway through the book I really wanted to dnf this book this book. Full honesty this book almost put me in a reading slump. If it weren’t for this incredible book i decided to read instead i would have given up on reading this year entirely. like no offense to the people working in graphic audio, you guys did amazing ten out of ten. but even you guys couldn’t save this book the ending was that typical ending where they bend the rules so the main characters were happily together I was extremely relieved when i finished this I had it on 2x speed

A TINY BIT of a spoiler.

He is the BEST Book Boyfriend. More realistic than the others if you’re looking for a man who wants to be beside you. He is not a possessive alpha - he lets her experience things and allows her to keep her promises even when she literally loses herself.

Story is great. A lot of up and downs. Story could have ended but she chose to give it an “epic finish.”

Haven’t finished it due to only listening to it while doing housework at the end of the night.

One of my favorite books in a long time. Will definitely be buying a physical copy.

Another fun entry into the Married to Magic series. I liked the way that this book kind of tied together the rest in the series, in a way. I think sirens/mermaids are really underrepresented mythical creatures when it comes to fantasy books - at least as the main focus of the book - so I quite enjoyed that aspect. Do beware with the Graphic Audio version: the voice actor for the titular siren duke is the same as Rhys in ACOTAR. I couldn't unhear it the whole time!

I ate up the last 3 books, but I dragged myself through this one. Our MMC seemed super cool from her setup as a captain, but once she got to the ocean she was just like whatever as long as my family is okay. Like..okay. Just accept your fate I guess. The romance was not burning and not hot, if existent. I thought it was ending like 3 times. Why is she dragging her old boss around like he’s a pet..

I listened to the graphic audio and skipped all the singing LOL.

The Graphic Audio was great, but this was my least favorite married to magic story. It started very promising and lost me midway. I did not get the emotional connection I feel like I should have while she lost her memories or for their "love" at all. I have enjoyed this series and will continue with the next book.

As like the other married to magic books, I love how they are making there way through ever manner of creature beyond the veil. This love story, like all , have a happily ever after ending, but not how you’d expect but so perfect. I also like at the end of each book it gives a glimpse into the worlds they have already explored in previous books and how things are progressing.

Anthony Palmini is one of my favorite MMC voices and he did great in this role. Graphic Audios are pretty much the only way I’ll listen to audiobooks these days. The story was dragged out a bit toward the end, but I enjoyed it overall; didn’t expect that ending and loved it. This is my second favorite Married to Magic story (A Dance With The Fae Prince #1 by far - definitely recommend).

I enjoyed the dramatized audiobook, however, the story was a bit lacking for me. I wasn’t as invested in the ending as the others in the series. Loved the audio with the siren songs, but the kissing sounds got a bit excessive at times. Needed a bit of editing on that for sure.

The graphic audio brought this story to life! But once again I wasn't a fan of this book. It felt too long and I was a little bored during the middle part. The ending was interesting though and that redeemed this book for me.
