Ex-CIA agent turned Girl Scout leader, Merry Wrath is about to have a holiday to remember! It's not Christmas in Who's There, Iowa without a severely mandatory holiday lights policy, passed by thirteen year old Mayor Ava and her henchman...Betty! The girls show up on their troop leader, Merry's, doorstep with a box of lights and an ultimatum.
The whole town has gone crazy in preparations, and with Merry's husband Rex gunning for the prize, she has no choice but to help. Putting up lights is the last thing Merry wants to do, and she's hoping to get by with the barest minimum needed to comply.
Unfortunately, as she's working on the display, she finds a dead man tangled in her lights. Can Merry find the killer and get her display back on track before the lights go out on Christmas?
Leslie Langtry is a USA Today Bestselling Author of the Merry Wrath Mysteries and the Bombay Family of Assassins Greatest Hits series. She lives in the Midwest with her family and is an active Girl Scout volunteer. Her dream is to someday invent calorie free cake.
I purchased this novella for $0.99 my local library is no longer adding books 📚 to this series.
Merry Wrath finds a dead body in the bushes next to their home. It is the new dentist that replaced the old dentist who retired. Who murdered him? Merry Wrath finds out the truth leading to the arrest of the killer.
I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic family and friends relationships adventure mystery novels 👍🔰. 2024 👒😀😡💘🏡
A very nice shorty in one of my favorite series! Mayor Ava (and Betty) made it mandatory for all businesses, homes, and government buildings to decorate their exteriors with Christmas lights, with very stiff penalties for those who may refuse! A contest is involved and Rex is determined to win! He works hard on a design and when he finally gets to plug it all in, nothing happens…probably because of the dead body wrapped in lights in the bushes. I love the characters in this series, they are always entertaining, hilarious, and a little scary at times… This is a very different take on a Christmas mystery novella that kept me reading from start to finish!
It’s Christmas in Who’s There, Iowa. Former CIA agent turned Girl Scout Leader Merry Wrath is preparing for Christmas when 13-year-old Mayor Ava and her cohort Betty arrive at her house with loads of Christmas decorations. It seems that Ava has mandated that every house in town be completely decorated in lights. Merry isn’t interested in putting up the lights but wants to help her husband Rex go all out. Her interest wanes when she climbs onto the roof, loses the ladder and tumbles to the ground only to find a dead body trapped in the lights. It’s the usual cast of quirky characters and scenarios that makes a quick entertaining read.
I’ve read these from the beginning. They are so fun. The characters are very interesting. They aren’t so believable but they make you laugh. To think that a group of young girls is capable of doing some of the things that has been done in these books yet come off so innocently is just amazing. I do like the adult characters and the plots are always interesting. I look forward to reading many more. It will be interesting to read how the girls grow up.
A fun, short entry into the world of Merry Wrath, former CIA spy, Girl Scout Troop Leader, and wife of the Chief of Police in Who's There, Iowa. When a dead body shows up in the yard, Merry begins investigating. What follows is a lively discovery of clues, characters, and Girl Scouts. An entertaining story full of surprises and laughs for readers of any age. Fabulous fun that was over too soon.
Merry was a former CIA operative who was forced to retire and became a Girl Scout Leader, when the town says that every house must have holiday lights so Merry and her husband decide to decorate their house and as they do a walk around their house to admire the lights they find a dead body and from there things only get more complicated as Merry tries to find the killer. Great read.
Lesley Langtry has another hit! This one is a short, easy read. Merry is in the middle of another murder mystery. This one finds the victim in Merry’s yard. It’s Christmas and her Girl Scout troop is stirring up trouble around town as usual. A fun read!
There is never a dull moment in a Merry Wrath mystery! This is a fast paced, fast reading book with the scouts up to their usual antics while Merry has discovered another body. With the Christmas lights competition, some red herrings and more, you will reach the end before you know it!
I received a copy from the publisher. Merry and the gang are in holiday spirits. Mayor Ava is having a city wide decorating contest and all have joined in. Of course a body is discovered and antics ensue. This is a great, fun, quick holiday read. Love this series.
It's time for decorating houses and by mayoral decree, every house had to have lights and decorations. And of course at the home of Merry and her husband the detective, there was a dead body mixed in with the lights.
I enjoyed this story, even if it's the weirdest one I have read in awhile. The characters are interesting in their weirdness. The plot is easily followed, and the premise is finding who killed the dentist and stopping them. I do recommend this book.
If I'm not laughing at something the girls are doing, I'm laughing at Kevin and the Hamlets. Visiting Who's There, Iowa is always a fun trip! Can hardly wait for the next book!
While I usually don't like novellas as the story feels rushed and over too quickly, I did enjoy this one. Love the compulsory Christmas lights competition and the antics of Kevin and his hamster.
I am reading Christmas books…and needed something light and fun! And Merry is it! She and her gang…as well as husband Rex are always on top of everything!
