The book could have been better had some great battle especially at the end. Didn't really care for the fact that there was foul language and up to date slang comments in the book. I might consider checking to see if the author has other books out. And lastly at the end it talked about another quest and then the book was done. It's like wait, what?

This book is good and well written. A lot going on here.

This is Book 2 in the Evolution Trials. You most definitely need to read Book 1 to follow and understand what is going on in Book 2.

Lots more world, fantasy building. We take a dive into the main characters and learn more about their past and what really makes each of them tick. In the first book we learn there are these quests that the ancients or gods put in place for warriors to go on and there were these companies put in place to train men and women to go on these quests. We learn in the second book that a lot of men and women are volunteering for these quests when in reality in book 1, most people that fought the quests were enslaved and trained to be the warriors to go on the quests. Something more sinister is going on in book 2. There are these animals that are bigger and more evil then they ever were and they are attacking towns and it is becoming apparent that someone or something is making it happen rather than it just happening on it's own. We start to learn about the god's themselves that can interfere or appear to someone they like and give the team member's a 'boon' to help fight in these battles.

If you are one who likes battle scenes, you will enjoy this book. Lots and lots of battle scenes. Many unanswered questions remain in my mind that I hope are answered in the next book.

I really like how these unlikely characters were thrown together against their will but have learned to fight alongside each other and to fight for each other and even potentially give their life to save their teammate.

This book was soooo good! Usually I don’t find the second book in a series to be better than the first but this one definitely was! The author really packed a punch with this one on all of the twists and awesome new revelations. We still follow the same characters as before with the addition of some new ones. The storyline gets better and better as you go alone. I honestly couldn’t put this book down. The ideas and concepts that the author thought up and put in were really amazing and well done. I really enjoyed how people’s abilities developed from what they were or new ones discovered. Character development was also very well done. The book can still be dark at times but this was definitely less dark than the first. ** There is a trigger warning though about sexual assault. It’s not very long but it’s there ** If you have read the first book and liked it you will love this one. I highly highly recommend this book. Very Good!

These are some of the best novels I have read in a long while. The characters are magnetic, drawing you into their conflict almost immediately. The author came up with an inventive way to make progression fantasy more realistic than the typical dungeon core, and the like, that have status screens. I just can't get into those. But this is kind of like a baby step in that direction. Well done!

Enthralling!!

An excellent second in the series. I was pulled in from the first and stayed up way too late at night to read “just one more chapter, and I’ll go to bed.” I’m completely invested in the characters, and cannot wait to see what comes next for them!
