No longer under the protection that Neverland holds, I run from a past that haunts me, And straight into the last person I ever expected to see.
A villain is what they call him. Ruthless. Vicious. Cruel. But it turns out, he’s the only one that can help me.
Except nothing comes without a price. He is a villain, after all. And if I want his help, I’ll have to do something I know I will regret.
I’ll have to make a deal with him.
But one that may cost me my life. **Beneath the Starlight and Storms is an adult paranormal/fantasy M/F romance based on Tink and Hook. If you love enemies to lovers with morally gray, possessive characters, a loose re-inspired paranormal/fantasy fairytale with spice then you’ll enjoy Beneath the Starlight and Storms. **

When Tink flees Neverland and finds herself facing the mortal realm alone, she didn't expect to see her old friend Hook. It's been three years since he left her behind to face the nightmares of Neverland alone, nightmares that will follow her. With the imminent threat lurking over their heads, Hook has one mission. Keep Tink safe.
Hook is ruthless, vicious and a villain, he never pretended to be anything else, but with Tink he's soft, playful and kind. Tink is new to this world, she doesn't know what things are, like coffee, hot dogs, cars at first, but he never makes her feel stupid, he's patient as she learns and her lack of experience in the world never comes across as her being stupid or dumb. Both our MC's go through the motions of their strengths and vulnerabilities and Hook's ability to be very open, blunt and honest about his feelings, his thoughts and even his fears is so refreshing in a MMC because its not pulled out of him in a fight, or a heated moment, he offers it willingly. There is a lot of mystery to this book and whilst the cliffhanger will leave you an emotional mess with questions, its not so many questions you feel unfulfilled or put off from reading the next one.
Peter Pan is something we can see often in the world of retellings but this one? This one is incredible and I mean that truly from the bottom of my heart, I was hooked within the first 6% and it just built from there. The balance of world building, character development and spice was everything you want in a story. It is a serious slow burn but I find that due to the tension and plot , you don't really miss the spice because Rumer Hale has you wanting more with every page turn.
Excellent Such an interesting and original storyline. I loved how it was a loose retelling of Tinker Bell and Captain Hook. It captured my attention right away. Full of mystery, magic, action, and more!! I do consider this a slow burn, but it fit the storyline perfectly. You can definitely feel the sexual tension throughout. When the things do heat up, the spice is delicious. I loved how devoted Hook was to Tink. Even though he wasn't a good man, he was still her protector and villian. I wasn't a big fan of Tink at first, but only because I wanted her to give into Hook sooner. However, as we learn more about what she experienced I understand her reasoning. Honestly, I loved both characters.
We do get some revelations towards the end! I was surprised, but I was thrilled with the outcome. Now that ending... I wanted to scream and cry, but what Tink did made my heart happy at the same time. What I'm trying to say is that there is definitely a cliffhanger. So, be prepared. I hope we get book 2 as soon as possible, because I need to know what happens next!! What a fantastic way to begin!!
I love the concept of any peter pan re-telling, but this one was harder to read. The plot is messy and there’s multiple typos. It’s cringe at moments, and cute at others. The repetition of eye language and the word “glint” killed me. I’m glad I finished and gave it a fair shot, but I wouldn’t read again.
Anything Peter Pan retelling and I’m automatically sold. I really enjoyed this first book of her new series which is a retelling involving Hook and Tink. It’s definitely a slow burn but I didn’t mind because the story was amazing and definitely needed to help set up for the next book.
Tink has escaped Peter and Neverland and ended up in the real world. Surprisingly to her she ends up right in the middle of a fight Hook is having with our bad guys. I loved Tink’s spirit. She didn’t let Hook boss her around, the banter was great between which caused even greater tension.
Hook…I mean who just doesn’t love him? He’s created a name for himself outside of Neverland. He’s still this fearsome person that everyone is wary of. He’s so protective of her and I loved every minute of it. You can instantly see how much he cares for her and it just got better as the book went on.
That ending!! I am now anxiously awaiting book 2 because that cliffhanger killed me. I cannot wait to see what happens with their story.
This is a dark fantasy, loosely based off Tinker Bell and Captain Hook. I really enjoyed the story, it was original with a good plot. I think the world building was okay, I like the idea of different realms, I really enjoyed the attention to detail in things Tink was trying/tasting in the 'modern-ish realm', but there isn't much detail about the other realms including Neverland. Also this book was pitched as an enemies to lovers to me, which got me hooked immediately. However I felt it could have used a bit more 'enemies' trope as it was clear that only Tink saw it that way and I don't know if it's just me but I think enemies to lovers should have both parties start as enemies. It would be better pitched as a second chance romance, because they both mention that they had feelings in the past and it just fits better that way. Other than that, it was a good read and something different to the story of tinker bell and Captain hook.

was completely swept away by Beneath a Starry Light and Storms-it’s a fantastic fantasy that dives deep into the struggles of Tink, a fairy dealing with manipulation and betrayal in Neverland, especially after Peter changes and Hook leaves. The story is so emotional, making me feel like I wanted to jump in and help them survive their ordeals. When Tink escapes to the human realm and Hook saves her, only for her to face trust issues from Peter’s betrayal, it was heart-wrenching yet beautiful. The fae realm adds such a dark, terrifying layer, and the end where Tink sacrifices herself to save Hook by returning there-the worst place she ever escaped from-was devastating. I cried so hard, it was that powerful. But the series isn’t complete, and I’m dying for the author to finish it because I need to know what happens next with Tink, Hook, and even Peter. It’s an incredible read, hard but so worth it, if only the next book would come soon!
I have a soft spot for Fairytail retellings, and Rumer did NOT fail me!
This book, at times, gave me Christina Henry vibes, with dark and twisted turns around every corner. Hook and Tink just sink their claws into you and drag you along for the emotional roller coaster that is their everything.
I'm pretty sure my heart stopped a few times. That ending had me wanting to launch my phone across the room, except I need it to stalk when the next book is released. And there's a small part of me that wants to burn the world down for the nuggets within these pages.
The wait for this book was agonising, the wait for the next one will be worse, but it was worth every moment!
Another amazing series start from an author I will forever read without fail.
3.5 stars. Going into a Hook and Think based retelling I was expecting more of pirate aspects from this book, (Sailing, sea creatures, croc etc), so when Think enters the mortal realm it threw me for a loop for the first 50 pages or so of the book. However, Hook and Tinks banter defiantly makes it more enjoyable. I'm a character driven reader so I need lots of dialogue to fly through a book. Some lines between both character did get a little repetitive, but that slows down as the book goes on. I almost wish we got a book before this one all about what happens on Neverland with Peter and them as a trio, maybe we'll get more answers in Book 2.
I was so hesitant to pick up this book after everyone said Hooked was fantastic and I thought it was total garbage. But I picked this up on a whim and WOW! I am BLOWN AWAY! This was so so good. The writing was flawless, the story enticing, and I loved the characters. Overall, I am so pleased with this one and am definitely keeping in my library. My only complaint, I really wish it would have ended with a HEA. I hate having to pick up another book and I fear it’s going to get dragged out. But, we’ll see!
My first fairytale retelling - and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! The perfect balance of mystery, romance, fantasy and some action as well. The characters were very well written - especially the "villain" Hook.
Worst part though: the cliffhanger and the fact I have to wait for the next part to be published!! Please hurry 🥺
Found previews of this story on the authors tik tok and fell in love with it immediately. Finished within a few hours, definitely one of those books you cant put down till you finish
When I saw that it was a story about Hook and Tink I couldn't resist! It was my first romantasy book and I really enjoyed it! ♥️ I'll definitely read the next book and hope to learn more about the past.. Thank you Rumer Hale for this beautiful story and I'm looking forward to the next book! 🤩
