When it comes to mafia romances, I'm pretty picky, but this book and the whole series? They're just awesome! I hadn't binged a 500-page mafia book in ages until I picked up this one. Honestly, I was hesitant at first because who wants to commit to that many pages, right? But, gotta hand it to the author, she really worked her magic and kept me glued till the very end.
I'm kinda new to this author, but every book I've read so far has totally hooked me. Definitely gonna read more from her! And this series? Loved every single one. I highly recommend starting with “Dario’s book” to fully appreciate the depth of the characters and the world.
What really hooked me in this book was the back-and-forth between the characters. The teasing, banter, and tension? Spot on! Just added that extra layer of fun and excitement.
Can we just take a moment to talk about MASSIMO?! Seriously, I'm head over heels for him! He's like this big, lovable teddy bear with the kindest heart. Massimo? Yeah, he’s officially my new book boyfriend! I mean, what’s not to love? – and the smut?!! that's all I'll say! 🥵
Lucia's character really grows on you once you see things from her perspective. Despite her initial entitlement and bratty behavior, it becomes clear that there's more to her than meets the eye. Growing up in a gilded cage and facing trauma at a young age, her attitude is a way of coping. Underneath Lucia's spoiled facade lies a deep pain. The bond between Lucia and Massimo tugged at my heartstrings, leaving me in tears. And let’s be real, who wouldn’t want a Massimo in their life after reading this book? (We should totally get that on a shirt or something I would totally wear it! 😂)
The ending had me on the edge of my seat! I'm counting down the days until we get to learn more about the other brothers!! 🤩
This low rating is based on the author’s writing style. Too many “all capital letters’” and too many written words to explain gun fire and different noises. I felt like I was reading a young child’s first reader or a comic book instead of an adult novel. Basic writing classes teach you how to write sounds without spelling them out. Too many 'BAMS" in capital letters and "RATATATAT", "CLACK CLACK CLINK" …blah blah blah. Very distracting and very unprofessional.
The story had some merit if you can get past Lucia’s character. Perhaps she stops acting like a toddler as the book progresses. Her bratty mouth and Mafia princess attitude grew old very quickly.
This is the third in the Mafia Kings series and my favorite so far. I would actually give this book 4.5⭐️. Probably because it features Massimo, the gentle giant enforcer brother. His contribution to the family is his brute strength and mild manner.
The story continues with the struggle the Rosolini family is having with the other Italian Costa Nostra families. To that end Massimo goes to Venice to meet with the Donna of the Family there. She has one living relative Lucia who is her spoiled granddaughter.
During Massimo’s meeting with The Widow (as the Rosolini’s refer to her) an assassination attempt is made on her which Massimo thwarts. She sends him and some of her security staff to get her granddaughter at university.
After foiling an attempt on Lucia’s life, Massimo and Lucia go on the run since they can’t go back to the Widow’s castle. They’re on the run for three weeks. Of course they get involved, have sex, and fall in love. But this is the most tenderest of the 3 love stories so far…and when it all blows up at the end (Massimo and Lucia are attacked) I actually cried for that entire chapter. Their love and dedication to each other was that touching.
There is a HEA. However, this book is all I love in a dark mafia romance: - enemies become lovers - shared trauma - the women kick ass and aren’t weak - spicy love scenes
Read this on Kindle Unlimited and now have to wait until 2024 to finish the series.
Author is sending the wrong messages with this vile heroine
Wow, there’s so much to say about this story that I hardly know where to begin. I’ve never written a review like this but I feel somethings need saying. First off, I hated the heroine of the story; she was absolutely horrible to people and there was little that redeemed her as the story went on. I thought the author’s double standards were blatant and appalling. We’re to believe that the heroine acted so horribly towards people because she was rebelling against the patriarchy and toxic masculinity but she had no problem sexually harassing the hero of the story incessantly, despite the fact that he told her no over and over again. She even went so far as to grab his genitals without his consent, all the while bemoaning how chauvinistic men are and how they mistreat women constantly. How are we, as women, to be taken seriously when we won’t hold ourselves to the same standards we scream at men to?
This heroine was so selfish and disgustingly self-centered that in one scene, she suddenly decided she was feeling sad and wanted comfort. She forced her way into the hero’s bed by whining about how scared she was to be alone. When the hero conceded but warned her against trying any funny business, she had the nerve to think to herself, “I was trying to get away from horrible memories – from a feeling of crushing loneliness – And he thought it was all about him.” I really wanted to slap this fictional character in the face, as this point.
It continues at another scene. She aggressively sexually harasses the hero. He snaps and tells her to stop acting like a slut and she has the nerve to get hurt and upset about it! She starts railing at how it’s okay for men to sleep around but not women. The author is pathetic here because she’s expecting us to feel sympathy for her heroine when her heroine has done nothing but touch and harass the hero against his will continuously. How outrageous!
The author needs to take a solid look at the messages she’s sending with garbage like this. I only made it through half the book before I threw it out. Huge waste of time and money.
This one has to be my favorite so far. Massimo the big gentle giant with a heart of gold, who will do whatever it takes to protect his love ones. Absolutely incredible from start to finish.
I’m not gonna lie when I first met Lucia, she was annoying and so stubborn. Kind of made me want to pull my hair out, I could only imagine what Massimo was feeling when he had to protect the spoiled princess.
Of course spending so much time together off the grid, really made both of them come out of their comfort zones and really get to know each other. They went through so much in so little time.
Massimo has my heart. He is such a brave and protective man that just really loves and cares for his family. I just really can’t wait to read the rest of the brothers stories. The fact that they hinted at Roberto and Valentino’s stories. Can’t lie I’m really looking forward to Valentino’s, the youngest always getting himself into trouble! lol
The middle of the book felt a little slow going, mostly because I worked a lot during that time. I hadn't known how the author was going to be able to make the female main character into someone I liked but she managed it. I liked the way the couple interacted and got together. And it's the first book I've ever read where the main guy was way too big for the female and the author made even the spicy times work within that. The character of the hunter was a bit crazy in a good way too.
I have never to my recollection read a story where I did not like the lead male and female. I am so disappointed because hello 6’7 fine and supposedly dangerous, this plot had potential. I disliked Lucia way more than Massimo ( see even his name is sexy) anyways she was a shallow conceited brat. Description warned that the h was potty mouth but my goodness OVERKIll. She had no redeeming qualities. Internal dialogue about not having a boyfriend but a slew of one night stands 🤢I don’t know about any other readers but I like the female in the story to not act like horny frat boys. I guess I am old fashion that way. But I enjoy a book that is not full of cursing because it fills the pages up. Or maybe a fade to black love scene …Then she gets mad at being called a slut but girl you were literally just hounding Massimo to see his junk! And if the H say he is a zen master one more time 🙄dude yall are running for your lives pull up your alpha shield and make war! I stopped after the first sex scene I could not take all the screaming 🤭 going to bed feeling let down that I invested time reading this only to not finish it. Also personal side note: why do these authors think it’s ok to use Jesus Christ as a curse word. I really wish this trend would stop I cringe everytime. Jesus Christ is Lord not a curse word people!
First of all. If I said anything about the sex in the previous book, hold on, let me adjust my panties... literally. 😆 This is mind-blowing sex. some things were new to me.. They did that? How???? Lol.. You can't find a better series that has a bad ass woman who knows how to get what she wants. This is that book. Everything came together perfectly. They say that revenge is better served cold. Well, let me tell you... wait, I can't give that away. You have to read the series. Believe me, you won't be sorry.
Dear god, Lucia was insufferable for a good chunk of this book. I have no idea how Massimo even grew feelings for this 'C U Next Tuesday'. She mellowed out eventually, but the damage was done. There really was no redemption. I would rate this a one star, but I'm giving it a three because of Massimo and the rest of the characters. Lucia I can do without.
Plots that don’t make any sense. So many mistakes. For nearly half the book I hated the mfc. It does get a lot better but it drags at the end.
So many times I wanted to throw my kindle out the window, but I couldn’t as I wanted to know what was going to happen to the family. 😡There’s too many mistakes in the plot, Massimo makes some really stupid choices to keep Lucia the mfc safe. The whole book is basically just the two of them and I couldn’t stand Lucia! Lucia is a b*tch for nearly half the book and I hated her. She does an unbelievable 180° personality change about halfway through and all of a sudden she’s a delightful sweet woman. Erm what now????
As the Rossellini’s are blacklisted by the mafia council, Massimo is sent to reach out to an elderly widow who runs Venice. While he’s there her house is attacked and Massimo saves the widow. As part of a new alliance between the families he agrees to protect her granddaughter Lucia. Lucia is a spoilt brat who is extremely rude and awful to Massimo who is saving her life. She complains about everything, just to annoy Massimo . It worked and he’s soon at the end of his tether. Somehow they end up having ridiculous s*x and this authors s*x scenes haven’t got any better. At one point I was laughing at them. Really not good.
Massimo and Lucia are being hunted so they camp out in peoples cabins, avoiding the mercenaries. Eventually the danger comes to a head and instead of it being exciting it was BORING and I was skipping pages. It doesn’t make any sense why they’re being hunted, and why Massimo hid in the woods for so long and didn’t take Lucia somewhere safer.
If you’re going to only have two main characters in a book, don’t write one of them as a complete b*tch. 😡😡😡
OH My this series is absolutely amazing it's so fantastic that I don't even know where to begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this awesome story! Okay the first thing is that I definitely enjoyed Massimo and Lucia as a couple. There is so much excitement and action with sizzling hot passion with these two. Plus I get to revisit some awesome characters that I really enjoyed and wanted to read more about them. The time spent with the families is delightful. Another thing I enjoyed besides the couple's hot chemistry is their life is full of action with lots of drama which will have you on the edge of your seat, The suspense will fuel your curiosity. Then there's all of the characters which are so captivating and the Mafia men are so amazing and their relationships is also magnificent. The storyline is great with it's Mafia vibe and when you add in their emotions along with their love of family plus the intriguing twists they go through with their own cousin and other enemies then you have a tale that's awesome and such a enjoyable experience." There is violence but that just makes you keep turning pages. I couldn't help but to have a sleepless night because there was no way I putting down my reader until it was over. I could tell you about all the things I really enjoyed with this story but then it's best I let you read it for yourself. But WOW even with the ending it's still a awesome romance which l greatly enjoyed and I found this to be a exciting series. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did Happy Reading!!
I didn’t think it was possible, but this series keeps getting hotter and the quality remains. When I first read the synopsis and the tropes, I wasn’t sure I’d like Lucia and massimos story as much as I’d LOVED Adriano and Bianca’s story. Omg I ADORE this couple. Did Lucia annoy me at first? Yes. But the way Olivia thorn writes, she really gets into each character’s head. The thoughts are real and realistic without being repetitive. So often, I’ll read stories where the characters just say the same things over and and over and it’s exhausting and boring. Olivia kills it with the inner monologues and I’m all about it.
Massimo is a huge guy, and Lucia, so tiny in size, has attitude and personality to match that hulking size. She dishes shit in spades, but poor massimo can only take so much before he fights back, hit for hit.
But when these two finally crash, it’s all hands on deck: 💥💥💥💥💥
Tl;dr I love these two, the spice is freaking HOT, the plot stays strong, the side characters are 💯 as usual. I LOVE THIS SERIES AND THESE COUPLES.
Massimo is visiting the head of the Venice mafia when an attack occurs and she charges him with getting her spoiled, rich granddaughter Lucia to safety. He takes her to his cabin, but they must hike through the woods to a new cabin every day to avoid capture. Eventually the two form a bond, and it’s going to take everything within Massimo to rescue Lucia when she’s taken.
Another fantastic entry in this series! Olivia Thorn is tremendous at writing action-packed books. She alternates the point of view so quickly it will make your head spin. The characters are amazing, and I love the world building. My favorite thing about this book is the powerful family bond among the brothers and their wives/fiancées. The bond between Massimo and Lucia builds quickly, but they share some powerful time together as well as personal history that is very emotional. I can’t wait to read the next installment in this stellar series.
You’ll love the Mafia Kings series. Read it from the start and let me know what you think - I’d love to discuss.
Massimo goes to Venice to persuade The Widow of Venice to back the Rosillini brothers. He explained to her that they were not behind the killings they were accused of and while he was there they were attacked by mercenaries. Massimo saved the Widows' life and she believed him when he told her that his cousin Aurelio was responsible. He was after the five families to side with him so he could take over the whole territory of the Rosillini brothers. The Widow was afraid that they would take her granddaughter so she wanted Massimo to keep Lucia safe. Massimo was faced with an arrogant, bossy, foul mouthed fiery princess. Lucia whine and complain about everything but both knew they were attracted to each other. Slowly Lucia warmed up to Massimo and he got the chance to grab her perfect ass. They were on the run from Aurelio but after an assassin shows up he takes Lucia and Massimo must get her back. The chase is on to kill the assassin and Aurelio. Good series. Someone is after the brothers at every turn.
Yes I loved this book although the ending of the story like I think would have ended better like Dario and Adriano how once D’s drama was done like a few weeks later A’s drama started not this while Mass was gone Lars did this and Robert was in Hong Kong and Val was in Sicily. But I do with Roberto and Val was already about because now only have Lars left and finish that in one day.
However enough if my complaining. The books was amazing the overall story was amaze I did like the brat turns into a sweet heart. I think if she was a brat for a little bit longer then Mass and her could have anger “fun” (censoring so review isn’t removed) and she basically be “funned” into submission. I did like the cabin hopping makes me wonder what type of trail and area they are in if all these cabins are in a row but yet still close to the same town. Overall a fantastic book I’m usually one who’s picky on series but this one is actually really good and I can’t wait for more!
Massimo is the 3rd installment in the Mafia Kings dark romance interconnected standalone series by Olivia Thorn. While I’m not one to read books in order (in fact, I’m notorious for NOT doing so) there has been a rhythm to each brothers story Thorn has presented, but also a very basic formula that by the end of book three is getting a bit dull. What I loved about Massimo is his larger than life presence, but also a patience that seemed just as never ending as well. And boy, does he need it. But once his fuse it lit, boy oh boy. Rockets. Fireworks. Bullets and more. Literally and figuratively speaking, of course.
Since the next book is about Lars, the brother from another mother, I’m hoping Thorn shakes it up and breaks her own rules. Because she still has two more brothers to go after Lars book is done. And while I’m spacing the books out, rehashing the same book over and over with a different cute boy and another feisty girl makes for boring reading.
This one was honestly really hard for me to get through. I rarely give anything under three stars, but the FMC made it tough. She was just really difficult to like, and it didn’t start getting better until around the 50% mark.
I normally love enemies-to-lovers, but the constant fighting between these two didn’t feel fun — it just felt kind of stupid. And the ALL CAPS and nonstop F-bombs from the FMC didn’t make her seem tough to me; it actually pulled me out of the story.
The MMC, though? Total teddy bear. He was definitely the highlight for me. But the ending, especially the assassin storyline, was the hardest part to push through.
This series keeps getting better. Truly. The author from book 1 simply cannot be the same author who wrote what I just read! I devoured this book, I mean I could not put it down! I have some of the same complaints from boot 1 and 2 - the essentially repeating entire chapters to get the alternate POV can be slightly annoying and sometimes I feel like details are hounded on that don't quite matter - very detailed descriptions of the food they eat or of the clothes they pick out but, these things don't bother me enough to stop reading, just maybe deducts a star from my review. This story was engaging and exciting! It kept me entertained and made me fall in love with both MCs - well fall even more in love with Massimo and go from hate to love with Lucia. I am waiting on the edge of my seat for Lars to come out!
Wow this book must be the worst book I ever read. Unfortunately you can’t give 0 stars. I would like to start by saying I hope all the women giving this book 4 or 5 stars and the author do not actually believe that women sexual harassing men is ok and something we should have the fmc do! The first 63% the fmc is constantly trying and shamefully once succeeding to touch the mmc private parts without his consent he literally told her on multiple occasions not too. Her reaction? She calls him a pu“&y. The fmc has a disgusting character. If I would have had to read her cursing one more time I might have started 🤮. PLEASE stop making fmc horrible people what’s the purpose? The last 27% of the book tried to redeem her but the ship has sailed at that point. Do yourself a favor and read something else there is so many great books out
I liked the MMC in the last two books and this one. But the MFC is difficult to like for the first third of the book. If you can get to the halfway point, she becomes a lot less irritating. It's explained why she is the way she is - and women have a right to be however they want - I just didn't care for her. She acts like the worst spoiled child but my internalized misogyny might be running my reaction.
I think the MMC is the right partner for her. He knows how to stay calm with purposefully annoying people and wins her trust eventually. She will be a great ally in life.
I'm enjoying that all these books are set in Italy. I had fun looking at a map a Venice and seeing where the final event took place.
This is probably my favorite, and it's solely because of Massimo. This man is everything 🙌 I adored him. Now, if this was for Lucia, I would've dnfed this one at 15%. I didn't like her at all. She was bratty and annoying, and that harassment with Massimo? Was horrible. Let me tell you if was Massimo doing what she did????? But anyways I'm glad I pushed through because it was amazing. The villain?!?!?? Omg if you love to hate villains, this book is for you because the villain will make you mad, but you'll love it. I'm currently reading Lars because he's my Swedish baby, and this series only gets better with each book, so I definitely recommend this.
Massimo, the newest brother in the Mafia Kings series, is sent on a mission that leads him to Lucia in Venice, Italy. Initially, Lucia's spoiled and rude demeanor rubbed me the wrong way, but as the story unfolds, her chemistry with Massimo ignites, and their sexiness reaches scorching hot levels! This gripping tale is filled with fear, danger, and a heart-pumping battle. Massimo's dark side emerges as he fights to save the woman he loves. Who is a terror on her own, she’s tough and fierce and passionate in so many ways. Overall, Mafia Kings: Massimo is a fantastic, dirty, sexy read that will leave you breathless! 🤓
A really good third book in this series Massimo is the largest brother he is 6ft 7" 230lbs and pure muscle but he has a heart of gold and feels things deeply. Lucia is the spoiled brat Grand daughter of the infamous Mafia leader the Widow who controls Venice. He has gone to Venice to try to reform relations with the Widow unfortunately it doesn't go according to plan and he ends up on the run with Lucia and things quickly hot up between them. There is lots of action and plenty of romance a great read.
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Character development: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ BANTER!:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ This is the third book in the series and so far it’s by far MY FAVORITE!!!!! The first book was slow but good. The second book was faster, spicy and great. THIS BOOK IS ACTION PACKED! SPICY 🌶️ in a good way. What sends this book over the top is the BUILD UP & BANTER!!!! I don’t know about you guys but I LOVE a book with good banter!!! Olivia Thorn is making the list of my top 5!!!!
I couldn’t even finish the book, and after thousands of books that I’ve read, this is only one of a handful that I DNF. So incredibly disappointed! The first two books were frustrating when the author would repeat the scenes from both characters points of view, it’s just a repeat of an entire chapter. In addition, the main female character is a spoiled brat with an attitude who can’t hold her tongue. The immaturity level of this young woman was ridiculous. It ruined the entire book for me, her mouth is what made me not finish.
I’m so glad I’m reading the series in full because it really makes you appreciate and form a bond with all the characters. I’ve always admired Massimo’s character in the other books so I was really excited for his moment to shine.
Who doesn’t love a big, scruffy, protective mafia ZADDY?! Lucia is annoying af at first and gives spoiled brat vibes but she grows on you. Lucia and Massimos banter is chef’s kiss. The ending keeps you on your toes and I can’t wait to continue reading on about the Rosolini Brothers! This book is my fav in the series so far.
