An inspiring and personal guide to ageing well and with happiness, by national treasure Judy Bailey When beloved broadcaster Judy Bailey signed off her final news bulletin in 2005, she had no idea that retirement would bring some of the most fulfilling years of her life. Ever the journalist, Judy searched for the secret to ageing new science and personal stories on everything from better sleep to staying active, making friends, and fostering curiosity.
In Evolving Judy shares these wisdoms and how they've shaped her own journey into older age. Judy tackles everything from taking care of your body and mind through to organising finances, navigating health scares, grieving loved ones and enjoying the finer things, whether shopping or grandparenting.
Age is no picnic but we shouldn't feel afraid of a path so many have walked before us. Uplifting, kind and knowledgeable, Evolving is an inspiring guide to ageing well and a reminder that life is something to be relished.
I had high hopes for this book as I had admired Judy Bailey for years. She covered many topics but I don't really think I learned anything new. However she talked about GrandFriends - a nationwide organisation that pairs older people with young families who have no older relatives in their lives. I'm glad that she brought this to my attention as it is something I may be interested in. The book appears to be well researched and there are about 10 pages at the end listing further reading and resources.
