Fresh out of prison, Eli Griffin finally has an opportunity to meet his unlikely pen pal, Essa Minsky. And not only meet her, but get the very thing that kept him going behind bars while giving her a fresh start.
However, not everyone is as happy to see Eli on the outside as Essa is.
Whew… What an unexpected story! The perfectly woven mystery kept me flipping pages while the spice forced me to flip one handed. Essa and Eli were hot together and I, personally, would have liked to peep another … erm … encounter or two. But that’s because I’m a greedy wħorė.

This story has a lot of things that was entertaining. At the beginning was so romantic and in a blink of eyes went to porn! But this wasn’t what about, the drama and suspense were really great. It’s worth the reading.
Having a hard time finding words - definitely a more original story , lol. I liked the beginning and the end the most, but it did seem to drag a bit in the middle. Not sure if I felt like the hero resolved his issues enough for her to accept him back with open arms, but maybe that was just me 🤷🏻♀️. The characters had great chemistry and the smexy times were super hot.
A murder mystery that's hot AF?? Yes please!! Oh you're into the Daddy, little girl trope? There's another check for you!! A hot touch her and die mmc?? Yupp!! A creepy neighbor that's good for the ego 😂😂 yupp he's there too.. This book had me questioning everyone and everything! I read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. At one point I was cleaning my ceiling fans while reading a delicious spicy scene 😂 this book was so so hot and such an entertaining read. I give it 4 stars because I was able to figure out the ending before it happened but I will say!! This author almost got me! I almost fell for the little maybe he didn't do it moments 😁😁
Who doesn’t love a good and spicy murder mystery??? after reading the Color Series by Kitty King I wasn’t sure what to expect but I loved it!!!
Essa & Eli
These two are an unlikely duo but they also make complete sense…what starts out as guilt for him and a school girl crush for her blossoms into something others may think is a bit unnatural but was perfect for them…isn’t that all that really matters anyways
Eli does 7 years of a 25 year sentence for a drug charge….while he is in prison he becomes a pen pal to Essa….the daughter of his one time friend/drug dealing buddy….feeling guilty because he’s not sure what really happened the night of his arrest….all he knows is he went to jail for drugs and Essa’s father was dead….Eli feels protective over her….he wants to keep her safe at all costs
Then theres Essa….this girl is a mess….shes extremely naive at no fault but her own….and how does a naive girl choose to make fast cash to pay off her moms hospital debt and her college??? Well porn of course…..thankfully she had told Eli her plan so he was able to uh help her out….their story just keeps rolling from there
Just when you think you know what’s happening it takes a turn and an ending you don’t really see coming You have a love story and a murder mystery all wrapped up into one book with enough spice and daddy kink to set you on fire….oh and lets not forget the touch her and die aspect…..or that the first time Essa EVER had sex was with Eli and was filmed in a studio for porn
If you like a good murder mystery with a lot of spice give it a read….the spice was on point but the spice to plot ratio was equal
DNF at 44% Eli needs to go straight back to prison…
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love an age gap romance and tend to veer toward books much more taboo than all my friends. However, when the FMC is constantly portrayed as a ‘little girl’ and is barely an adult lusting after a man she has been talking to since she was a literal child, alarm bells start ringing.
The fact that she is dressed in children’s pyjamas (described as something she would have worn when she was 12) to lose her virginity on a bed covered in stuffed animals suggests the author must have a thing for guys on the sex offenders register.
I can roll with the MMC being a stalker or a serial killer or into knife play, but a nonce? Nah, that’s one step too far.
And even though this was supposed to be a dark murder mystery romance, I honestly laughed my way through the first 25% because the plot is so utterly ridiculous you simply can’t take it seriously.
Oh, and if the above wasn’t enough to put you off reading, this quote surely will “Lick it like an ice cream cone and you may get a creamy surprise”

Kitty King does it again!!!🔥🔥 Every time I see a new book coming out, I know I need to read it!
Eli has been behind bars for the last seven years. One night changed his life forever. Over the years while he was gone, he’s sent letters to Essa trying to look after her.
Essa moves into her father’s house which was left to her. With her newfound house that needs to be taken care of on top of medical bills stacking up. Essa decides to sell her virginity to pay off the bills and her father’s debts.
“I’ll do it, Sunshine.” Battling the sins from his past and age difference. Eli does not want her to get hurt. When the opportunity comes up to be the co-star with Essa. He takes advantage of it as a way to protect his sweet sunshine while getting what he’s been wanting.
I could not put this book down! From trying to figure out the murder mystery and what happened on the night Essa’s father was murdered. We find out there is a bigger picture in play.
From lies, betrayals, dealing, and the forbidden. Can Essa and Eli make a relationship work? Did Eli murder her father? Will Essa have to pay for her father's past sins?
Grab this book and find out!
Thank you, Kitty King, for allowing me to be a part of your ARC team! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts. This review will be shared on my Instagram @Alexandriavwilliams_ shortly.
A murder mystery with the promise of some spicy goodness you say? Uh, yes, please!
Kitty King takes us on a twisted journey of secrets and betrayal in The Wrong Man, a thrilling account of when doubt and guilt collide. Eli has spent years behind bars, his only ray of sunshine being the correspondence with his pen pal. The problem? The recipient of his letters is the young daughter of the man he believes he murdered. He can’t remember much of that dreaded night, but the mistakes of his past continue to haunt his every move.
Eli and Essa are an unlikely duo, but happen to share more in common than anyone would believe. Both beautifully complex from years of pain, they each battle their own demons in their own way. And yet, they find solace within each other’s embrace. Eli’s intense need to protect and provide for Essa, a girl many years his junior, is only eclipsed by his desire to claim her in the most primal ways. Essa, young and naive, is stronger than anyone could ever imagine, and she isn’t afraid to let people know so.
At its core, this is a story of the importance of family and what someone may be willing to do to protect those they love. Guilt may rear its ugly head and threaten to whittle away at resolve and tear those bonds apart, but there’s nothing stronger than the bond of love.
While King always delivers on the spice (which is smoldering in here with a delicious daddy kink), the mystery she weaves throughout is the driving force for the narrative. There are times where this aspect does take a backseat to the romance, but things ramp up in the second half of the book, keeping readers on their toes with a well-balanced story.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time between the pages of this one, and King always makes her stories so completely easy to consume. This story ties up beautifully, but I wouldn’t mind revisiting in the future. If big, tatted, alpha ex-cons falling for innocence is your thing, you’ll love Eli and Essa. I definitely recommend giving it a try.
⛓️ Age Gap ⛓️ "Daddy" "Baby Girl" Vibes ⛓️ Breeding ⛓️ Virgin FMC
Ooooo Daddy, Ex Con Eli 🥵 a 13 year age gap with a woman who is an 18 year old virgin, in every sense...
Eli has been in prison for 7 years, he has had company however in the form of his pen pal Essa, a young woman just turned 18, he knows better than to want her but he can't help how he feels, especially when he knows she wants to sell her virginity to pay off her debt. All Eli wants to do is take care of her, provide for her, worship her, protect her at all costs....
Eli has a traumatic past including drug and alcohol abuse, Essa had been taking care of her sick mother, something that they were able to bond over. Essa is very naive and has alot of daddy issues from having an absent father and being the responsible adult well before her time. Eli is Essa's first and only love, the only man she thinks about, Essa is his obsession, the one he wants to take care of, little does he know Essa might just be the one to save him instead.
This story honestly has so much more to it and so many more mysteries to be solved, as well as hearts being broken and mended throughout as two broken people try to fix one another. This story is both heartwarming and overwhelmingly heartbreaking.
Please check Trigger Warnings ⚠️ this is a dark romance with Daddy/Lil girl vibes.
OH MY SOUL! If you enjoy smut and enjoy the Daddy thing, then your girl Kitty has you sold! I'm so excited to get more chapters and actually finish reading the book 😍 she's killing me here with the wait 😂😂
Okay so I've actually finished the whole book and oh my word! LOVE LOVE LOVE! Kitty you've done it again and I cannot wait for your other books 😍😍
This is my third read from the incredible Best Selling Author Kitty King. Her mind seems like a remarkable but complicated place. Each time I’ve finished one of her books I’m left in a state of awe, as I mull over my feelings of everything I’ve just read.
I love that her character are so complex, and that there’s always a underlying mental health representation that is sometimes terrifying and other times extremely relatable. It’s never sugarcoated. The FMC, Essa is newly an adult. Life has thrown her some undeserved trauma. Her maturity and inner thoughts are exactly as one in her situation should have.
As much as I’m a big smutty book lover, and Kitty delivered some spot on scenes.. the plot of this book is what kept me reading late into the night. I wanted to know the answers, the reasoning behind why things were happening. I one point, I thought it was obviously this scenario only for it to not be at all.
Kitty King you keep writing these masterpieces and I’m happy to be one of SO MANY that loves to read them. Thanks for letting me read this in advanced, you’re just the coolest!
✨eARC Review✨ The Wrong Man - 11.1 By Kitty King 3.75⭐️|4🌶️
Since being on Kittys ARC team I’ve gotten to read The Color series and they were phenomenal so I was so excited when she announced this book! I mean the first line of the synopsis is “I shouldn’t love her. She’s too young for me…And I think I killed her father.” so like what’s not to rope you into reading that?! Lol
The Wrong Man follows Eli and Essa. 18 yr old Essa, is set on selling her innocence so she can pay off her moms medical bills and all the debt she has. So when a…let’s say production company bids an obnoxious amount of money, she just can’t refuse. She wants to do it with the man she been writing to who just so happens to be in prison for the last 7 years! When Eli gets released from prison he gets an offer from an old colleague he used to run with that owns the said production company that bud on Essa. He’s been obsessed with her since he started seeing her as a woman, so of course he needs to do it! What could go wrong, she’s only 13 yrs younger than him and he may have offed her dad…. And let’s just say that Eli is a BIGG man!
This book was definitely different from The Color series, but it was a quick and easy read. There was mystery within the book which I enjoyed! Seeing everything unravel and figuring out who actually did her father in. The writing was a bit choppy at first but at the end in the acknowledgments and stuff it is mentioned that this was one of her first books she’s written so with any new writing there will be some issues! But overall it was a good read!
This is a: A 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸 age gap A 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘆 mystery Big 𝗦𝗜𝗭𝗘 difference Content warnings on author's website. 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸!
This is a spicy murder mystery book that I know you guys will enjoy. From the dedication to the last page, Eli & Essa's story has completely captured me. Im obsessed with this book, absolutely devoured it in one sitting.
It has lots of my fave tropes in a book so I was not shocked when I completely forgot to sleep just to finish this one. This book is an absolute must read to those who loves age gap romance with a hot blessed MMC.
As someone who hates kids, Kitty King made the idea of br33d!ng so hot that it left me hot & bothered. The characters are all well written, i love Eli most cause I love DILFs and obviously I have issues. But also Kitty King definitely made a fool out of me trying to guess who's the real mvrd3r3r is. I cant say more cause it will be spoiler but I feel dvmb afterwards 🤣
This is such an amazing & entertaining read. Pls check TWs if you ever decided to pick it up.

“I think I killed her father”
the first murder mystery book I’ve read in a long time and I think I need to create a list of spicy murder mystery books now!
essa moved into her late father’s home, seven years after he has died. her prison penpal also just happened to be released the next day and lives in the same town.
eli and essa started writting to each other while he was in prison because he knew her father and he wanted to make sure she was okay. she just turned 18 but told eli before that she had a school crush on him when she was younger. I think you know where this is going 👀
this book is SPICY and has a mystery? sign me up!
I use to love mystery books when I was a kid and then I haven’t been able to get back into mysteries/ thrillers. I think I just needed a little (or maybe) a lot of spice to like it again. definitely be careful reading this in public…
this is the third book I have read by kitty king, and I have loved every book more and more. the spice was there but I feel like the spice didn’t take over the plot.
the only thing is that I wish there was a little more detail about the murder and how they solved it. it seemed a little rushed in my opinion but I still loved the story. I do not feel like the story was incomplete but I wish there was more details towards the end.
I’m really bad at predicting the ending of books and I had no clue who the murder was. I knew who wasn’t the murder, but I think that was a given from the title. I cannot wait to read more from kitty!
King did not shy away from the darker parts of this story and I am thankful for it. Eli has been in prison for 7 years on drug charges. He was high when arrested and mixed up in a murder case no one could prove so they got him on other charges. He believes he killed a man that night so after doing some research reaches out to the young girl to see if one day he can help her. At first the communication is innocent but as the years go on and she gets older things start to change. He has every intention of only being there for her from a far but lines get blurred. A relationship develops and the guilt is eating him alive because he isn’t honest with her about possibly being the man that killed her father. He begins to push her away and back track into old habits. They have danger coming at them from all sides and they have to figure out how to navigate it all while trying to hold on to each other. It was a struggle at times to read his spiraling. He had come so far and to see him throw it away hurt. Essa is so much stronger than she seems in the beginning. Im so thankful we got to meet his brothers but I wouldn’t hate getting a book for Adon or Rhodes 😂🖤
Eli & Essa. This story was a wild ride. I really enjoyed watching their relationship blossom. It didn't take long for Eli to cave into his desires for her, using a "job" as an excuse to cave. Kitty did a good job at confusing you of who was actually the right man. I think that thing that surprised me the most was the situation with his "Best Friend" Dix. I loved his brother, they are not in the book a whole lot but when they are you remember them. I totally called who Adon ends up with. I want to know more about Rhode, especially with his on again off again crazy woman. This book is heavy on the "daddy" praise, that is not my taste at all but I was able to ignore it and really enjoy the book. Make sure you check the TW and CW there are multiple serious things that happen in this story that is sensitive to some people. Over all I really enjoyed the book!
This book has me hooked! Apparently too much Daddy/lg isn't my thing (no stars off for that cuz it's advertised as such!), but despite that discovery, I enjoyed this book!
Erotic suspense is exactly what you'll get here. There's a hot, tatted, ex-con MMC, and a tiny, virgin FMC who's ready to do what it takes to pay off her debts.
I gave it 4 stars because the writing was a bit choppy at times, skipped forward abruptly, and the mystery who-dunnit was pretty easy to figure out early on.
Spice is a 3 (for me!) because there aren't a ton of scenes and only like 2 really detailed ones. (Take this rating with a grain of salt, cuz my spice scale is fairly high).
Take the trigger/content warnings seriously, folks. And enjoy!
I absolutely loved this book! I want to smack Eli and do him at the same time! The daddy kink in this book was top notch. In this book we follow Essa as she grows up and struggles to pay of her mothers medical bills. She finds a way to do this and her man Eli is there to help her through it. As Essa and Eli grow closer Essa starts to learn new things about her father’s death. During this time Eli starts to struggle with his life and starts to fall back down the rabbit hole. This is where I want to smack him! I will definitely be reading this book again. If you like age gap, murder mystery, breeding daddy kink you should read this. Please take a look at Kitty Kings trigger list before you do!
18 year old Essa sells herself to pay off her debts and moms medical bills, only a sex production company wins her bid, and she only has one man she wants to be her leading man, Eli had been in jail for 7 years and when hes released and given the opportunity to be with the one womans hes craved since shes tuned of age, nothing can stop them ,except he might have information on what happened to her father. well written steamy age gap desires drama and more.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’m usually not into murder mysteries. But add a little bit of Kitty King and a sprinkle (ok the whole jar) of spice, and I’m there.
Kitty has a way of forcing me to discover new kinks that I never knew existed. Virginia auction? Ok. Daddy/baby girl? Yes please. Major size difference? Make me your size queen. Age gap and ex con? Yeezus, yes.
I loved this story from start to finish. Essa lost both her parents tragically and the only person she had was an ex con. Eli was there for Essa. Guiding her. Protecting her. When he was released he quickly learned he wouldn’t be able to stay away from her. Together they work together to solve the mystery of who murdered Essa’s dad. Until Eli’s biggest secret threatens to tear everything apart.
The amount of twists and turns in this book kept me enthralled with this story. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen I was proven wrong. Absolutely loved The Wrong Man. I enjoyed the mystery aspect of this story because it was fun to follow along and try to solve this murder. Oh and the spice and kink was also a major plus 😜
First I want to say a major thank you to Kitty King for giving me an ARC copy of this book.
Second…. OKAY WOW. I flew through this baby!!! I had so many questions and was desperate for answers.
Eli is what I imagine ever girl wants when they start writing to men in prison. No joke. I didn’t think I even had a breeding kink until I read this. But now i’m not so sure??
And the mystery! I did not expect the results. I spent the entire time reading trying to piece together the murderer and was pleasantly surprised with the ending! Did not see it coming!!

I’ve fallen in love with Ms King’s writing even more now so since I just finished this murder mystery, age gap, spicy gem. I just couldn’t put it down literally. Kitty grabs your attention right off the back. Always making you wanting for more. Read this book if you like a good mystery, nosey neighbors, hot brothers, age gap, and some surprises you didn’t see coming. You won’t be disappointed. 💋
A mystery, a love story and top tier spice all wrapped into one awesome book! This book had me guessing, had me squirming and had me swooning. The praise in this book is also 👌. Kitty king has knocked it out of the park again, and keeps me needing more!
I received this #ARCBook early and for my honest review. First off, I am a fan of Kitty King & this book was no different!
The Wrong Man by @kittykingauthor - Essa & Eli have a connection that neither can deny & they fall in love. Definitely some hard issues for them but they work the them & come out stronger than ever.
This was a good mystery / romance read with a story line. I loved that I was kept guessing until the end. The growth of the characters and their not a typical love story was enjoyable!
If you loved Kitty Kings “Color Series” and love dark romance, then you don’t want to miss this! Essa and Eli are perfectly matched for one another and the spice is incredible!
one of my most anticipated books and it turned out to be one of my favorite reads this year! loved eli and essa's ddlg dynamic and i loved how she was loving and sweet but she also wasnt afraid to cut people off and did what's right for her. the way eli loved her makes me melt. he was protective and supportive. he always wanted the best for her.
the conflict of whether eli did kill her father or not was also well-written but it didn't take up too much of the plot, so essa and eli's relatiobship was thoroughly fleshed out.
