My brother, the star Quarterback for the Baltimore Cobras, has always had one rule: I’m not allowed to date any of his players. Which is fine, considering they’re all insufferable.
Simple, right?
But when he asks me to be a part of his fantasy football league and demands I keep my identity a secret, I decide to have some fun and use my number one overall pick to my advantage and draft his best friend.
Owen
When one of our players is traded and drops out of Leo’s fantasy football league, a new mystery person is added, fueling speculation from everyone. When they draft me first, I instantly know they have great taste and need to get to know them.
The only problem is Leo has made it clear that whoever they are, they’re off limits.
It’s the same reaction he has every time I look at his sister…
Armed with this knowledge, I can’t resist Isla’s charm, no matter how hard I try. Before I know it, we’re both in too deep, with our fantasy league and the team’s relationships at risk.
Love on the Waiver Wire is a fantasy football themed brother’s best friend sports romance.
Anna Noel is a firm believer in writing what you’re passionate about, and two things she’s loved her entire life are sports and spies.
Growing up a huge fan of Baltimore Sports, Spy movies, and Fast and Furious, Anna got her start writing early, graduating from writing small picture books about her childhood Dalmatian to books about street racing, crime, and spies.
Her favorite authors growing up were Dan Brown, Iain Reid, and Kazuo Ishiguro. Although she writes in a completely different genre, she finds inspiration in their creativity and genius.
Anna’s life goal has been to help authors and become one herself. With entrepreneurship running in her family, she knew that she would do it eventually. As time went on, in 2015 Anna started selling plot lines to authors who needed a little help, and years later would expand her services to authors, eventually going full-time with it in 2020.
Anna specializes in slow burn romances, and is excited to continue both her Project Fallen Angel series and the Baltimore Cobras.
I absolutely adored this book!! It was so damn good!! I couldn’t put it down!! As a football girlie this book just hit the spot!! Owen and Isla were just AHHH! This book has everything I love! Brother best friend, forbidden, protective MMC, and he calls her ‘Pretty Girl’!? Stop I need Owen right now!!😩 I love Isla’s simple character!! She’s just too good!! Also the way Owen was just so whipped for Isla in an instant was amazing!! I can’t wait for book two!💜
This is a very cute book. It's a slow burn, but in a good way. I absolutely adore Owen and Peaches, the nickname he gave her. And I absolutely loved how he took care of her, and they had me laughing throughout the book. I can't wait to read book 2.
This was such a fun and cute read. I didn’t particularly like the codependency that the siblings had, but I understood the protective nature of the brother. Overall it was really enjoyable- I loved Owen - so I’m looking forward to book two.
The heroine is supposed to be 24 years old but comes across as a simpering immature middle schooler scared to stand up for herself. And the damn hero cowers in the face of another man’s illogical and bullshit threat. Do either of them have a backbone? No, no they do not.
This would make so much more sense from a maturity standpoint if you told me the characters were actually in middle school playing for their middle school football team while she was the cute artsy girl.
Again, bookgram has stolen hours from my life with yet another insta reel promising something worthwhile but failing to deliver beyond massive disappointment.
im going to set the scene: i just finished the absolute devastation that is "tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow" and i was in a mini-reading slump (two days). but my new agave green kindle paperwhite belated birthday present had just come in the mail (i have been waiting on this kindle since my birthday in april, i am very excited to use)
at the same time, i have multiple libby loans due in the next five days. so i went on kindle unlimited (three month free subscription with the purchase of said kindle ❤️🔥) and found a silly little romance book palate cleanser. this was said book.
there's not much to talk about this book. it was just a silly little football romance (i say this in the most positive light, i love silly little football romances). it did have seemingly fewer sport inaccuracies than most sports romances which i really did appreciate.
We’re back to talk about this adorable rom-com I adored ! I basically read it in 2 days and was so found of the universe I melted 🥹
The Fantasy Football Universe got me speechless ! It was absolutely amazing and I had a wonderful time following the teams week after week. We were deeply into the action and it was really good. I enjoyed it a lot !
The relationship between Isla & Owen was adorable, pure, genuine & full of deep feelings. Their chemistry was something else and the way they love each other was magical, I love them so much. I am so happy they found their peace with each other, they deserve it.
The writing style was very nice and addictive. I was directly into the book and the characters were all nice & funny. The girls group is really something else and it was so cool ✨✨
Bonus points for all the music and pop culture references !! They were the best >>>
Anyways, if you love a cute rom-com, with a NFL football player, an artist, some cute dates & a slow burn, this one is obviously for you ! It’s live on Amazon & Kindle Unlimited don’t miss it :)
Thank you Anna for this one ! Can’t wait for the next book in the series 🥰✨
I loved every second of this book. I am fully into my sports romance era but this was my first football romance & it did not disappoint! The tension between these two was absolutely perfect.
If you are looking for your next brother’s best friend romance - this is the one!
💜 Isla Warner My dear Isla, I just wanted to hug her. I deeply appreciated her moments of vulnerability. She’s the epitome of strength and resilience. I absolutely love seeing a creative person pursuing their passion. Now am I still a little pissed at Leo? MAYBE. Definitely.
💜 Owen Crosby So loving and gentle. He’s THE book boyfriend. I loved how supportive he was. THE LETTER made me weep. He is so caring & it shows how he shows his love for his family & Isla. Man has a heart of gold. 💛

ARC Review Love on the Waiver Wire by Anna Noel 5/5 stars
This was a sweet, spicy, and wonderful sports romance by Anna Noel. I really enjoyed the chemistry of the leads, the entire sports team, and the entire cast! The slow burn almost took me out and I loved it. I miss sports romance and I want to add my books to my sports romance list because of this book! It was fun and refreshing and a great way to finish off this year! Check this book out nowon Kindle and Kindle Unlimited!! Thank you to @annanoelbooks and her team for an eARC copy of the book.
Do I understand fantasy football even the slightest bit? No. Do I have a single clue what they were doing there? No. Do I love this book!? YES!
Anna’s writing style is one of the most amazing I’ve read so far. The storyline was amazing and all characters managed to amaze me yet sometimes drive me up a wall at the same time.
It’s a spicy, funny, bantery, emotional read and I can’t wait for book 2!

this was such a super super cute read, i loved it! owen & isla had such a sweet dynamic with such great banter! anna absolutely nailed all of the tropes incorporated in this book and the slow burn was soooo worth the wait! honoured to have been part of the arc team 💜
Can I just say I did not think I would like this but I loved it! Normally I don’t like slow burns but this one was great. I loved the story and sports romance. Normally I only read hockey ones but this was great! Definitely a must read I would recommend this to non-dark romance fans. Such a great book!
Found a new author to add to my favorites list!! Anna Noel’s first installment of the Baltimore Cobras Series kept me laughing my head off! It’s a sweet, slow burn romance, but the SPICE HITS JUST RIGHT! Such great banter between the MMC and FMC and the teammates. I loved following Owen and Isla’s relationship! I’ve never been a fantasy football fan but I loved this book! Great read!
A football romance story? Yes please. I have been trying new books that I wouldn’t normally read lately, and I have been surprised by them! The storyline is cute, has a forbidden romance, and a protective brother. Such a light easy read
I was so excited for this book and it absolutely met my expectations. Perfect mix of slow burn, spicy scenes and add in my love for football!! Win win win!
Such a cute, fun football read that I very much enjoyed!! It’s been a while since I’ve giggled and smiled like an idiot reading, and these two had me OBSESSED. I love, love, loveeeeeeeee Owen and can’t wait to see what else Anna does with this universe 💜
Absolutely horrible. Majority of it doesn’t make any sense, the plot doesn’t stay the same, the characters are adults but act like middle schoolers. There’s only little (yk) and it’s horribly described and made me cringe so bad.
I picked up this book because I love fantasy football. So little of that was even really in this book it shouldn’t have been mentioned in the blurb honestly. She even mentions in the author note that the fantasy talk will only last a couple chapters. Rip off.
There’s so much bad in this book I don’t even know where to start….
Isla needs to grow the frick up. She clearly isn’t ready for an adult relationship. Leaving it up to fate by way of a fantasy matchup…you don’t deserve Owen that’s for sure. Allowing your brother to control you and manipulate you in countless ways is ridiculous. Why tf are you baking pies every year when you don’t want to?! What tf even is that? You allow him to continuously barge into your apartment whenever he wants but you’re not allowed in his at certain times? You’re even nervous to put the extra lock on the door that Owen buys because you’re scared of pissing off your brother. WTF. Which I also don’t understand how she locked herself out of the door is not locked any time her brother comes by? You even tell your mother that you’re afraid to tell him about Owen because you’re scared he will kick you out of the apartment…umm yeah that’s not a healthy relationship with your brother. There’s so much more with her but who has time for all that.
Owen for the most part was wonderful. Up until the end of the season. I can understand him not saying anything because he was respecting Isla’s wishes. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to it’s him trying to respect her. But then he became a schmuck when Leo threatened him with not signing his contract. You allowed someone who is toxic and manipulative to affect your relationship so easily because you couldn’t do that to the team. Yeah.. that’s not YOU doing it to the team. Thats’s LEO THE ASSHAT doing it.
Leo. Worst character I’ve read in a long while and I’ve read some bad books. I’m still trying to figure out how I’m supposed to want to read his book when he’s a pretty disgusting human. And that’s not even touching on the cliche manwhore garbage. He manipulates his teammates, friends and family. He controls shit he has no right to control. His reasoning of Isla’s depression isn’t even a reason for what he does. He doesn’t understand boundaries. He has no respect for anyone other than himself. He literally tells Isla to figure it out about the nipple piercing like it wasn’t ridiculous that he keeps her from any knowledge about the league. He dares to threaten the contract signing for something so ridiculous. I don’t see how that entire team didn’t walk away from him. He said that in front of everyone and no one called him out?! No one?! BS.
And all the shit he does and he pays zero for it. You never even see him apologize. Just that his mom kicked his ass. A mom who isn’t all that great either btw so not sure what that really does for it.
Then there’s the fact that the whole secret fantasy player wasn’t even really a subject beyond the set up of it. You don’t see anything really until towards the end about them questioning who it is. They went the whole season not even seeing a text from “Ian” and never questioning it. I don’t buy that no one else tried messaging via the app. Trade requests would have gone through on there. We miss out on the entire group chat about the league. Barely see any of the punishments out side of 2.
And then the real kicker is that Leo ends up with Owen’s sister??!!!!!! Get fricked. What utter rubbish. And she’s a single mom. Bro isn’t even mentally an adult and he’s going to end up with a step kid.
And why do we never know Owen’s age?!

When you see that one of your auto-read authors is branching out from her usual, you absolutely keep your eyes peeled. THEN I found out it was going to be a sports romance? Done. Sign me up. Give me the book and don’t bother me until I’m done.
Anna did a fantastic job with this write and no one can convince me otherwise. I LOVE LOVE LOVED the incorporation of the fantasy football league, which I’ve not seen before, while also having many of the characters, including Owen Crosby, as a professional football player. Pairing those both together seemed like it could oversaturate the book with sports, sports, sports and not enough romance. That said, I was quickly proven wrong because Anna balanced the two perfectly along with keeping the overall air light, fun, and full of romance.
Main things I can’t get off my mind after reading:
I am so glad we get to see pre-Owen Isla Warner and a post-Owen Isla Warner, to see how much she blossomed. I especially loved that he helped to build that confidence, and pull her out of the shadows she’s lived in much of her life, but he gave her the space to navigate this independently. She still has so much to work through, but man what we saw was already so beautiful and I am so ready to see how she grows even as a supporting character.
Owen. Crosby. I mean I really shouldn’t say more. I should let y’all find out for yourselves. But my heavens it’s always the sweethearts you’ve got to watch out for. He is the sweetest man, but my gods the mouth on hi,. Let’s just leave it at - he takes NSFW to a whole new level but keeps it swoony at the same time. Can you say “hello new book boyfriend?”
Lastly, Leo Warner. Oy, this man needed a nasty reality check and, unfortunately for him, he got it from multiple angles. Not to say he had it coming, but the man absolutely had it coming. He messed up big with pretty much everyone. I can’t wait to see someone put him in his place and for him to earn his redemption arc. Because let’s be real, he needs one bad.
All that to say, go read this! Especially if you need something light-hearted and fun.
Love On the Waiver Wire, by Anna Noel, is the first book of the Baltimore Cobras series. Football is my favorite sport, and I yell at the TV like the players can hear me. Lol. So, I was very excited to read this book even though sports romance is not my normal go-to. I wasn't disappointed by any facet of this story. I can tell Anna knows her football, and I love that authenticity. Isla is an artist and also the little sister of Baltimore Cobra's star quarterback, Leo. He and his teammates have a fantasy football league, of which he is "the commisioner." When his league loses one of their players, he is desperate to find a replacement, and because of his own insanely strict rules, it must be someone who plays for or works with the Cobras. Also, because of his insanely strict rules, he can find no one who wants to take the spot. Out of desperation, he convinces Isla to join, meaning, on the fantasy app, she has to pretend to be a guy and work for the team. No one else in the league knows who "the new guy" is, and none remember even meeting "him." Owen is the star wide receiver for the Cobras and one of Leo's best friends. He knows one of Leo's personal insanely strict rules is to stay away from his sister. As the season progresses, he finds that rule hard and eventually impossible to follow, especially once he correctly guesses she's the new member of the league. There are some seriously laugh- out- loud funny scenes that had tears running from my eyes and in fear of waking my neighbor from laughing so loud and long... a certain tattoo/piercing shop experience broke me up. Isla's love of art and a special trip to the Met in New York City brought tears to my eyes for a different reason. Isla and Owen grow closer and closer while trying to keep their relationship a secret. This is a slow burn, but once the fire is lit, it is scorching. If you like sports romance, this is for you. If you like, he falls first romance, this is for you. If you like brother's best friend romance, this is for you. If you like rom-com, this is definitely for you. I am really looking forward to reading the second book in this series.
'Being here now, watching as she dots her canvas with precise strokes of the most beautiful blue, feels like a dream.'
'Love on the Waiver Wire is the first book in the Baltimore Cobras series which follows NFL star, Owen Crosby, and aspiring artist and his best friends younger sister, Isla Warner.
Isla agrees to join her brothers Fantasy Football league, under the condition from him that she keeps her identity hidden. But Owen soon works out it's Isla and to make the game interesting between them, he suggests the loser of that week has to do whatever the winner says.
But the further into the season they get, and the more time they spend together, Isla & Owen find themselves getting closer and not being able to deny their feelings any longer.'
Wow what a great first start to a brand new series! I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting and could not put it down.
Owen was honestly the sweetest guy. He would take Isla on dates to New York and the aquarium, even if they needed to hide their identity, and would sit and watch her paint for hours on end and never get bored. Although he didn't want to hide their relationship, he knew that it would not end well when her brother found out. But even then, he still treated her right, even if they had to keep how he felt a secret.
Isla lover her brother, Leo, but was fed up of living in his shadow and his overprotective ways. But with Owen, she didn't feel that way. She didn't want to hurt her brother, but she needed time and space to do the things she wanted to do for herself and to grow as an adult. I'm proud of her for putting her foot down when Leo started to get too much for her.
Leo is going to be an interesting read after seeing the epilogue, considering how he reacted to Owen & Isla's relationship, but I'm still excited to read!

Got recommended this book from instagram and boy was it bad. Firstly this book is written like it was written by a middle schooler. Not only is it filled with short sentences that had horrible punctuation and terrible structure, but the misspellings are ridiculous. How do you improperly spell your main characters names, AND MIX THEM UP.? Several times the brother and MMC are confused by the author. The romance literally evolves out of freaking no where and also goes no where, all they do is hang out in her apartment. There are several ideas in the book that are not fully carried out the further in you get. There is supposed to be a huge fantasy league the FMC is apart of but it suddenly stops getting mentioned, the brother is supposed to barge in to her apartment periodically but stops when the two characters start hanging out, literally all the other characters disappear for 30 pages at a time, oh and the FMC has issues with depression but only half way through because the brother mentioned it? The brother doesn’t even act like his character is described, he was supposed to be over protective and loving but he repeatedly forced her to do things, ignored her boundaries, basically slut shamed her because of an outfit, and when she had to get a nipple piercing because of a fantasy football league punishment, he literally told her idk figure it out????? The ending is complete shit, she ends the book with nothing about them resolved after making pies and him randomly eating her out? They didn’t even date, ALL THEY DID WAS TEXT AND TALK LIKE FR DIDNT EVEN HAVE THAT CONVERSATION. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS BOOK

This slow burn love story was about Isla and Owen . Isla has an older protective brother Leo who’s also the spotlight child (if you have one of these you understand her struggle but can also understand where he’s coming from). Leo has allllllll these rules set up so that his team and his little sister don’t end up in any situations with each other. But some of rules end up being broken by Isla and Owen because Leo brings Isla onto their fantasy football team as an “Ian” and her covers blown by her choice of team name. *must read to find that part out and if you’re a swiftie then you’ll enjoy it* one thing leads to another and Owen and Isla end up breaking more of said rules put in place by big brother Leo but oooowwiieeeeeeeee does it get HOT 🥵!!!! Owen’s nickname for Isla “Peaches” is sooo cute and the reason why is even cuuuuter. I enjoyed their story the slow burn made me work for the development as if I was apart of the building of their relationship and I enjoyed that.
If you are a sports girlie pop this is for you!
I did receive this book as an ARC and I noticed a few errors in the book but Anna did say that finished products should be error free which I hope they are since I wasn’t about to get my notes back to her by release day. But even with said errors it did not take away from the book nor make it impossible to read.
This is my personal review for the ARC I received. Thank you so much for the opportunity!!
I am not a big fan of sports romance cause I get bored of all the talk about that sport, but since I received an eARC of Anna's book I was intrigued by the cover at first and by the content she posted about it.
The sports part wasn't for me, but the characters and their love story was so beautiful and I loved it. Every interaction between them, every weekly challenge was fun and sweet and I was so waiting to see what they're going to do next, how will they fall more in love with each other.
Almost every brothers best friend implies the brother not wanting his sister to be with his best friend cause that's how brothers are, but this one... I got so emotional when Leo and Owen talked about Isla.
I loved how the two main characters were build, especially Isla, I wanted to hug her in her vulnerabile moments. She's passionate, caring, strong and weak at the same time. She's human and that's something I really appreciate in books
Now, about Owen... he was so supportive of her and not only, gentle and with love to offer. He's the definition of book boyfriend and has husband material. He's a family guy and a gentleman.
I wish I could say more, but if you like the next tropes you should read the book. I know that I want to read the next one in the series, karma is getting at Leo for how he tried to stand between the rwo and I cannot wait for it 😼

This book follows Isla & Owen. Isla brother Leo ends up dragging her into his Fantasy football league after he loses a player and demands she keeps her identity a secret. When Owen figures out its Isla he use that to his advantage to get to know her better while keeping it from Leo. The banter. The chemistry. The spice 🥵😘
Isla is a beautiful smart woman who is also Witty, a little sassy with a touch of sensitivity. She is trying to make a name for herself with her art & not live in her brother shadow. Isla being able to feel safe enough to show Owen her vulnerability 🤭. The way she finds herself & lets her confidence grow with Owen is so well done. The bond she has with her friends is wholesome & honestly the best.
Owen is a handsome confident NFL player who is also smart, gentle & caring. His ability to show up for Isla and be so supportive for her 🥺. His willingness to be patient & understanding with Isla is beautiful. All the little & big things Owen does to show Isla he is all in with her & helps her confidence to grow 🥰. His ability to be honest & open about his feelings for Isla. His bond with his family is absolutely beautiful.
5/5 recommend this book. Anna ability to make you laugh through the story is well done. Her storytelling ability to make you understand & feel her characters is beautifully done. The way they feel so raw & complex in the right ways is amazing. I absolutely adore Anna's writing & will continue to read her books 🥰💜
