A bookstore, an attractive owner, a sexy librarian, romance, and a bit of mystery - spiced with humor, hilarity, quirky characters, and hot sex - what more could you want?

I've read many books by T.B. Markinson, including collaborations with Miranda MacLeod, but I've never read anything by Adrian J. Smith, but it certainly won't be the last time.

Mat and Camdyn made it easy to love them. The romance is sweet, with no contrived problems or misunderstandings, just two women who don't realize the effect they have on each other. Struggling with self-doubt and insecurities but then daring to step out of their comfort zone. And there is a very funny and steamy sex scene. I just say bubble wrap.

Mat and Camdyn are trying to keep the bookstore running and hunt down the saboteur, while a group of older ladies, and their Smut Club, most of whom act anything but ladylike, do the honors. The quirky, hilarious, vocal erotica book fans steal the show from Max and Camdyn more than once. And then there's Gadsby, the lovable bookstore cat.

But as always, more serious issues are addressed too, it's not all just peace, joy, and pancakes (as we say).

Enjoy this light and funny story which takes place in the pre-Holiday season.
Recommended to all romance fans.

3 ★ | Why is Mat still SO concerned with her ex? That part left a particularly odd taste in my mouth. Especially as the word “jealous” was used too. Going round your ex’s house for a friendly chit chat then departing when the fiancé comes? You what now? I don’t know what to say. Not necessary. Remove that part!

That aside. Lighthearted. Risqué. Not the deepest romance in the world. But I believe it isn’t supposed to be. Smitten with Mat and Cam individually. Cam is so repressed bless her. Gram has NO filter whatsoever. So scandalous. Overall an amusing read. Got a few chuckles out of me (rare). A lovely Christmas holiday read.

DNF. Too much over the top, ridiculous, sex talk.

No substance or character development. Next.

3.5 rounded up. This was TB at her zany best. Overall a fun and easy read. I enjoyed the first half of the book leading up to the hot bubble wrap scene. And I liked that the authors elaborated on how an author writes sex scenes with the choreography in mind. It’s something I’ve thought about several times will reading sapphic books and visualizing the action. 🥵 🔥 🔥🔥

A quirky read from Markinson and new writing partner Smith just in time for the Holidays.
Mat and Camdyn star in this romance with books as the backdrop. I loved the easy pace, humor, heat, natural fumbles of romance and underlying mystery. What fire and spunk!! An erotica author (using an alias) suffering from writer's block and the heir to the bookstore empire - a match for sure but there's more.....
While that's my kind of bookstore with the geezer book club (plus "toy" discussions during meetings), coffee and alcohol bars (I can wish)- we get a behind the scenes look and overall important role a bookstore fills in a community. There's also cleverly written supporting characters like Nina and Gage. This read certainly hit the spot and lifted my spirit. I wanted that backstabbing traitor caught so Mat and Camdyn could have their HEA.
I look forward to more from this writing duo and easily recommend this book.
What the heck rounded to 5 stars for the bubble wrap scene.

Unfortunately this one didn’t do it for me. I think that I’ve figured out that TB Markinson isn’t always for me unless she’s writing with Miranda Macleod. Her style of quirky humor often does not vibe with me. Camdyn’s grandma and MaryAnne were super irritating and not funny to me. I never connected to either MC, I found their horniness for each other over the top, and I never cared abt them beyond surface level. I ended up rlly skimming through the last 20%

Interesting story that was backed up by a collection of cartoon characters (take a bow the Smut Club). Fine, move on…

This romance novel tries to spice things up with a hint of mystery, but the plot is too straightforward, lacking twists and excitement. The characters are pretty shallow, and the romance between Camdyn and Mat feels rushed and unconvincing from the beginning.

I found myself questioning a lot of plot points – like, really, why would this character act that way? It just didn't make sense, and I needed more insight into the characters' motivations.

The supporting characters were a mixed bag – some were boring, others pointless or just plain annoying. Crystal, Camdyn's grandmother, was eccentric, but there wasn't a solid explanation for it, making it feel random. Maryann, on the other hand, was just annoying for the sake of causing trouble, which felt unnecessary.

Despite the authors aiming for a steamy read, the lack of a believable connection between the main characters made the intimate scenes fall flat. However, I did manage to find a few amusing moments that brought a laugh.

Overall, the book wasn't it for me. It lacked depth and excitement, leaving me feeling a bit underwhelmed.

Its the lead up to Christmas, its set in a bookstore, with a hot older boss, a struggling sapphic author, its got humour and a cat.

Its a great plot Camdyn the author wanting to stay incognito working in a bookstore. Mat the frustrated owner is trying to find out who is sabotaging her bookstore.

The narrative between them is 'beyond' flirty. At times I felt the cheeky innuendo a bit ott especially early on.

Its fairly spicy throughout but balanced. Also I enjoyed reading about the intricacies of writting sapphic fiction through the words of Camdyn.

Interesting pairing of authors here, usually its Markinson and Mcleod. But it worked out well.

Overall really enjoyed it 3.75 rounded up to 4 stars

All Wrapped Up in You T.B. Markinson and Adrian J. Smith is a highly entertaining age gap romance set within a bookstore run by Mat Kincaide. Mat has no time for relationships, her focus is on her career. Camdyn is an author who needs a job to pay the bills whilst trying to get over writer’s block and forge her career.
This book has a shed load of funny moments. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the main characters, who both have past baggage to contend with. There are some additional characters which are priceless and had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion.
If you are after a fun, light-hearted romance with plenty of steamy spice, set over the festive period, this book is for you.
I received an ARC in return for my honest review.

DNF @ 38%. This is a supposed romcom but I didn’t really find it funny. Her grandmother (who she lives with) took and used her vibrator and decided to share this info in a public setting in front of a group of people? W in T everloving F? I found nothing comedic about such a scenario but this was all funny haha for the characters as the protagonist was trying not to die from sheer embarrassment. I’m out.

Fun and Festive!

Mat is trying to continue the success of her families book store when Camdyn, a writer trying to keep her identity under wraps and produce the bestseller her publisher is expecting, joins the team. Things haven’t been going well lately and Mat is a loss at to why, but Camdyn might just be the person to help, and while she’s there, Camdyn hopes to find the much needed inspiration her writer’s block needs.

Loved every second of this! It was filled with drama and scandal, while Camdyn and Mat found a special connection. Camdyn had no idea Mat was the one who’d found her writer’s notebook when she’d accidentally left it at the store after their first meeting, and Mat had no idea Camdyn was her favourite author, which was just brilliant. I loved how that ran as a side line while all the fun and humour was brought on by the quirky characters in the book store through staff and customers, and the memorable book club nights.

Camdyn was so cute. Not believing in her abilities as a writer after being unable to write what she thought her publisher was expecting meant she was shy and trying to hide, and it worked in her favour, really endearing her to me because I could completely relate to why she felt the way she did. Mat was great and full of life, and when she got herself all tied in knots around Camdyn it was beyond adorable. I loved them as characters and I loved them together, both as a work team and a lovers. I had as much faith in Camdyn delivering the amazing book I knew she could write, and was so glad when Mat learned she was a writer and encouraged her to get the book done.

What made this so special was the touch of humour injected in each and every chapter that had me laughing and crying at the same time because some of it, you really just couldn’t make up. It was so typical of life, and just thoroughly enjoyable. A great festive, fun, and uplifting story about making the best out of every situation and believing in yourself.

Some of the writing I really liked but there is sort of two strands to this, romance and mystery but the mystery didn’t really go anywhere for long stretches, at least not towards solving it, there were plenty of unexplained events. Also although there is plenty of humour in this book, some of it just didn’t land for me. One mains relationship with her ex husband seems really nice and he seems nice, till they are discussing her sex with the other main, then he is a bit crass, not in a, we are supposed to not like him and he is jealous way, but just in a written oddly way. Also prior to that the whole, not had a baby bit and response, didn’t land right for me.
The cop was a wee bit cartoonish.
I realise most of what I’ve written is negative. I enjoyed the book but would have loved a bit more depth in some areas. It sounds silly to say but it felt a bit rushed, not in plot resolution but the writing. I like both writers individually and I think their writing partnership works but some bits felt a bit less smooth. I’m not explaining this very well. It is worth reading and making your mind up.

Typically for both these wonderful authors, this story is so funny - in my opinion this is the funniest book of the year so far. Mat Kincaide is manager of the flagship store owned by her family’s company. Camlyn is a new author of hot sapphic fiction with one hit book, and now with writer’s block, writing under a pen name so that she can fly under the radar.
Camlyn decides she needs a temporary job, and so she applies for a job at Mat’s store. The fun starts when the store’s most valuable customer, MaryAnn, meets Camdyn’s Gram - both fun, unfiltered, and lewd women who make everything into an x-rated joke.
There is mayhem caused by a mysterious and vindictive saboteur, a cat with a different handmade bow tie every day, and lots of noisy bubble wrap

Will Never Be Able To Think Of Bubble Wrap The Same!

The pairing of T.B. Markinson and Adrian J. Smith is a special combination with a sweet and wonderful story at the end of it. Camdyn has written a sapphic erotic book(under another name) that did very well but now she is stuck for her new book and since she used the advance money she decides to get a job, because money will have to go back if she can’t write the book. Mat, Mathilda, is running the Kincaid Books flagship store of her family and is expecting to be CEO of all the stores when her father steps down. Both women have had a bad breakup and have sworn off relationships. When Camdyn goes to Kindcaids for a job, Mat hires her part time. There are things going on in the bookstore that are sabotaging Mat’s efforts to increase traffic to the bookstore and now with Camdyn working there, distracting her, she seems to be losing her control. This book turns out to be very sweet. The attraction between the two women is undeniably and Camdyn’s Grandmother makes a tough situation tougher. The laughs come mostly from Camdyn’s grandmother and friends. This was a great collaboration between two great writers.

An impromptu and accidental holiday read for me, purely because I got far too excited at seeing ‘bookshop sapphic romance’ to even realise that it was set in the festive season! It wasn’t too bad though as far as the themes, I could happily have read this out-of-season (so read it now ;)

This was adorable and both Mat and Cam are very easy to love and really good for each other. There’s no miscommunication, toxic arguments or fall outs, just pure sweet supportiveness and wholesome feels.
It was fairly predictable and not the best written book ever, but still very enjoyable and easy to read.
Also some really funny scenes, particularly with the ‘smut club’ bookclub full of quirky grandmas that desperately want to be able to read erotica, cause mischief and drink wine.

At the start it was a little wordy with not enough pauses in the sentences to allow flow, and the pace overall to the plot and romance wasn’t without its hitches. But the writing overall, (and smut scenes) was pretty decent.

What an alluring entrance from Camdyn and quite a lot going on within the story.
An unknown saboteur working against them in the store, right when Mat is trying to make upgrades, impress her father and get the position of CEO of the family company, officially taking over the book shop. Probably not the best timing on an unshakeable attraction between Boss and employee. But the forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest, right?

Bonus if you aren’t convinced by ‘age-gap, forbidden, undercover sapphic bookshop romance’ … there’s also a Kitty wearing different handmade bow ties.

Not quite up to what I consider TB Markinson’s normal output. I’m fairly certain I could guess many of TB’s contributions to this work. I’ve not read anything by AJ Smith.
There was some humor, with secondary characters mainly. The fact is, I’ll read anything by TB but this was not as polished as her co-writes with Miranda MacLeod.
I had some problems with the villian. I guessed immediately who it was. I gave it 5 stars but I think it deserves 4.1

What an amazing duo to write such a fantastic book. So funny and entertaining. The cat is a great addition as well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mat and Camdyn’s story.

Quite a few entertaining characters in this book. I loved how the outlook on life and lightness of being of the much older generation contrast with the younger ones.

Most of the events occur in a bookstore, but the interactions between the people in it felt more like those happening in a small village.

Yes, there is indeed a mystery needing to be solved, but each incidence linked to this mystery is more a springboard to discovering the personality of the MC and supporting characters than an additional clue to solving the enigma. I feel it is best to keep that in mind in order to get the most of the book.

I think this is one of the best collaborations I've read! Some of the dialogue had me laughing out loud on several occasions and I found myself smiling throughout. As the main characters work together to solve the mystery, they each work on themselves individually. The main characters are well developed and the secondary characters are fleshed out, as well.

If you like a bit of mystery with eccentric supporting characters and some witty banter, I recommend this one.

I really enjoyed this, had a hard time putting it down. Though it drove me nuts when the poor cat Gadsby's sex kept going from female to male and it was as if each author wrote the cat the way they wanted without checking with the other if they said it was female or male. The tension between the main characters is great and the crazy cast they are surrounded with is just hilarious.i liked the mystery too, but the forshadowing kinda gave it away a little too soon. Can't go wrong with this one. You will enjoy it for sure.

Reading My Journal

Matilda (Mat) Kinkaide runs the signature book store of her family business while she waits for her father to retire and she can also become CEO. She has been successful but there seems to be a saboteur on staff. Camden Stone needs a job and works up the courage to walk into the store to apply. A secret author of sapphic romance she has a number one best seller and a three book contract and a massive douce of writer’s block. Two relationship challenged women with a book club of smut loving grannies make a group fun loving friends.

This book has everything I love in a dorky romance. Characters that might be considered other-normal. Painfully embarrassing moments that thrust me into an anxiety attack (yes, this actually happened). Laugh out loud moments that make you look completely crazy in public (yes, this happened too).
It was completely terrible (in a good way). The characters are just brilliantly frustrating. Awesome. Wonderful. The writing was excellent. Every word, every sentence was well thought out. Nothing was out of place or just there to fill the page.

A little bit of intrigue mixed with desire and humour, what more can a sapphic reader want! Mat and Camdyn’s attraction is well off the charts and with a saboteur in the midst it’s proving hard to resist each other and clean up numerous challenges at the same time. Throw in an erotic loving Mary Ann and, a feisty Gram and, the humour is ramped up. I think Gram steals the show for me but, the overall mix is brilliantly written Andi enjoyed it immensely.
