Keaton Savage will do anything for his family—even star in a reality TV dating show. After spending a little bit too much time with his friend Jack, Jack Daniel’s, that is, at his cousin’s wedding, Keaton wakes up to the news that “he’s the next contestant on Fairytale Love” ( The Price is Right announcer voice). Imagine his surprise, since he has no memory of agreeing to be on the dating show.
His investigation into the mystery of this fake news begins with unanswered texts to his niece, who happens to be a PA on said show, and ends with him crashing his family's Sunday breakfast, where he finds the aforementioned niece looking sheepish and avoiding eye contact. After a quick Q&A, it is revealed that she is the “source” who leaked the casting news in an attempt to impress her boss, the producer of the show.
Does he want to go on the show? No. Is it a sacrifice he’s willing to make to help his niece? Apparently so. When his selfless act brings him face to face with the sexy redhead who ghosted him five years earlier and has haunted his dreams ever since, he’s not sure if it’s a no-good-deed-goes-unpunished situation or fate giving him a second chance at real love.
Avery Stone will do anything to have the family she didn’t have growing up—even marry a man she doesn’t love. Or at least that was the plan until she woke up on her wedding day with feet so cold she might as well name them Elsa…from Frozen…get it? After asking her deceased Gammy for a ‘sign’ that she is doing the right thing, she receives a news alert on her phone announcing the newest cast member of Fairytale Love, who just happens to be the man she shared the best two weeks of her life with five years earlier and who she’s loved and pined after ever since. Avery knows she can’t walk down the aisle and promise her life to another man. Seeing his photo and feeling all the feels.
Armed with that decision, she goes to her fiancé’s room to call things off, which would have been awkward enough even if she hadn’t found him in bed with their nanny. Although full disclosure, it did make her announcement easier.
With her life at loose ends, she gets another ‘sign’ in the form of a staffing emergency and decides to go back to the scene of the crime (the crime being the place where she spent the best two weeks of her life with a man who is going on a reality dating show to find love) to handle it and get a fresh start. Or maybe a do-over.
Author's Because of You is a runaway bride, second chance, single mom, small-town, steamy romance. This HEA is the tale of a sexy tattooed MMA champion hero, a stunning redhead heroine who is allergic to breaking the rules, a precocious four-year-old, a boss bitch bestie, a rescue chihuahua named Mojo, and meddling friends and family, which includes, but is not limited to, three senior citizen cupids. The love story is filled to the brim with heart, packed with humor, and topped off with NSFW spice-level heat.
NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author Melanie Shawn writes HEAs filled with sweet and sassy heroines, heroes who are cinnamon rolls in the streets alpho-holes in the sheets, casts of supportive *cough: meddling* friends and family who put the fun in funny, toe-curling combustible heat, and sugary sweet “aww” moments that will have your hearts and e-readers melting.
I feel like it was a full circle with Avery meeting Keaton when she went to the small town where she had inherited a run down castle. The first time was five years ago when Avery had broken up with her long term boyfriend (someone who I did not like). Now five years later when she was supposed to marry her ex, Jude, she decides she can’t do it as she doesn’t love him. She just wanted a family she never had and wanted one for her son Jacob was was Jude’s son.
Avery goes back to her castle to stay in the carriage house as she had rented out the castle again to the show her best friend helps produce-a love match! I loved that she sees Keaton again as he agreed to be on the show for his twin cousins who were trying to impress their boss. Keaton has always been such a private person, and he is freaking out he is going to be followed around and national TV will hear everything he says. It was so frustrating watching him try to talk to Avery since he was sequestered to a certain part of the castle and was to have nothing to do with the outside world. It was fun hearing about all the challenges the couples had to go through on the show. There was a surprise that I was excepting. This is such a well written romance that I was rooting for the two to get back together. I loved the story and strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
I feel like I have been waiting for this story ever since I started the Whisper Lake series, and it was everything I could have hoped for. I absolutely love Avery and Keaton, and I was so happy to see Avery get an hea of her own! It's steamy, sweet, has all the small town goodness, and let's not forget all the great characters that we know and love!
The Savage Brothers is a subseries of the entire Whisper Lake series. The Whisper Lake series a spinoff of the Crossroads series has been around for quite a while. Originally written by the sister writing duo of Melanie and Shawna you might have to look under the author pen name Melanie Shawna to find most of them. The series has now been continued by one sister under the pen name Melanie Shawn. While the three biological Savage brothers featured in the first three books in this series, Ford, Knox and Seb are new to Whisper Lake, this books protagonist, their cousin Keaton is not. I believe he was introduced as a secondary character as far back as the first book in the Whisper Lake series. With the introduction of the Savage brothers (his three cousins whom he was raised with) his character’s presence has grown in prominence. Now in this the fourth and final book in the series Keaton gets his own book to find his happily ever after. Keaton first came to Whisper Lake as the recently retired 3-time MMA World Champion to open Legacy a marshal arts studio and settle down to prove to his long-time girlfriend Camilla he was ready to do as she’d been asking him to do and give up competing and settle down. But it was too late. Camilla had already moved on. His cousins believed the reason Keaton has since avoided relationships was because he was so broken hearted over what happened to him with Camilla. But in this book we discover that isn’t the case. The reason Keaton hasn’t been interested in dating is because shortly after he moved to Whisper Lake and Camilla broke up with him he met a woman Avery Stone and in the course of two weeks fell madly in love with her. It’s just my opinion but the over-the-top physical reaction these two have to one another can only be found in romance novels. But that’s part of why we read them right? After a brief business trip to Chicago Keaton returned to Whisper Lake to discover Avery was gone with no goodbye. This story begins five years after Avery left Keaton without a word. Keaton has spent most every night of those five years dreaming about the redheaded blue-eyed beauty that in two short weeks made him feel a physical and emotional connection even Camilla never had. Meanwhile in Los Angeles Avery Stone is preparing for her wedding day after a five-year engagement to Jude her longtime boyfriend and the father of her four-year old son. Avery and Jude had been college lovers and dated for five years. But after many ups and downs Avery had decided it was time to finally end their relationship. At the same time she learns the father she had never known had left her Stone Castle in Whisper Lake Illinois. She decides to go to Whisper Lake and check out the property which is where she met Keaton. But while Keaton was in Chicago on business not feeling well, she went to the doctor only to discover that she was eight weeks pregnant. So she knew the baby had to be her ex-boyfriend Jude’s and not Keaton’s. Knowing that she had to inform Jude she was carrying his child and not wanting to lay the news on Keaton she retuned to L.A. without telling Keaton why. Once they discovered Avery was pregnant with his child Jude’s wealthy parents that control his trust fund pressured him to propose to Avery. Avery who had never known her father and whose mother was never very invested in raising her feels marrying the father of her unborn child to give it a family is the right thing to do. Obviously since it’s been five years since she agreed to marry Jude and they have a four-year-old child and still haven’t walked down the aisle neither was excited about the idea of marrying the other. Avery works long days and weeks managing three of Jude’s family’s hotels while Jude travels around the world supposedly drumming up new business for the family’s hotels. Since they became engaged they’ve hardly spent any time together or slept together. The night before she is supposed to marry Jude, Avery is having serious second thoughts. She knows Keaton Savage is the only man she’s ever really loved. Would marrying Jude be a mistake? She decides that it would in fact be a huge mistake. When she goes to Jude’s room she finds him banging their son’s 20 year old nanny and tells him the wedding is off. She packs up her mother and son and heads to Whisper Lake to check on the castle which has been turned into a hotel/spa/wedding venue and sometimes location for a reality show Fairy Tales and reconnect with Sabrina her former college roommate and BFF that convinced her to remodel and reopen the castle. She also secretly hopes knowing that Keaton is going to be a contestant being filmed her castle that she’ll see Keaton, that he’ll forgive her for 5 years ago running out on him without a word and maybe even give her another chance. The only reason Keaton is participating in this reality show to presumably find the love of his life is because he got drunk at his cousin Knox’s wedding which was being held at Stone Castle because being there reminds him too much of being with Avery. His cousin Ford’s twin daughters Iris and Ivy are working as intern production assistants on the show. Iris takes advantage of her uncle’s inebriated condition to get him to agree to be on the show. As a former 3-time world MMA Champion he’s a big get for the show. He wakes up the morning after the wedding hung over and discovering his participation (which he didn’t even remember he had agreed to) is all over social media. Being a devoted family guy Keaton doesn’t want to back out of the show and get Iris and Ivy in trouble. He did give his word and to him his word means everything. I’m not going to repeat the entire story here. Let me just say that this book is everything the last book in a contemporary romance series should be. Keaton’s and Avery’s story is romantic, a little drama, there’s some funny moments, some warm family feels and of course some very hot sexy scenes because Keaton brings out the uninhibited wanton woman in the somewhat insecure Avery. To me what really sets this story apart from other contemporary romance final books is besides being a very entertaining story the author goes to some length to include all the important and some of the lesser characters from the three earlier books in this series. If you’re a veteran reader of the author you might even recognize a character or two from some of her other series.
Because of You is the fourth book in the Savage Brothers series and I'm sad this is the last single Savage to get his story. I've really enjoyed these brothers and the women that have come into their lives.
Keaton Savage thought he would be married and settled five years ago, as he thought he would end up with his high school sweetheart, but that isn't how it happened. Instead, he spent two-weeks with Avery and he hasn't been able to stop thinking of her since when she disappeared without a word. He didn't know if he'd ever see her again, but no one has ever measured up since.
Avery Stone's life took an abrupt turn that she wasn't expecting, but isn't exactly upset about, so she and her son head back to Whisper Lake and to the castle that she inherited from her father. She's not sure what she wants the future to look like or where she wants to be, but for now she is going to oversee operations at the castle.
Avery and Keaton run into one another when she comes back to Whisper Lake and the recollection for both of them is immediate. The problem is, Keaton is going to be on Fairytale Love that is going to be filming at the castle that Avery owns. Will these two be able to rekindle their connection or will the reality television show stand in their way?
This story had a bit of everything! Chemistry, heat, humor, longing, friendships and of course some drama! I have loved all of the Savage men, but I really enjoyed Keaton. The ups and downs and twists and surprises in this story definitely keep the reader on their toes. I highly recommend this one!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review**
Avery and Keaton’s second chance love story in Because of You by Melanie Shawn, book four in the Whisper Lake: Savage Brothers series is filled with lots of laughs, touching moments, exes, and a love worth waiting for, all within a reality show. Second chance love, soul mates forever love story that will captivate you and have you falling in love with this couple: Keaton Savage and Avery Stone is the perfect match. Another Fairy Tale series is taping at the castle with this couple in the mix. Lots of surprises and ups and downs in this love story that you will be on the edge of your seat from start to finish. With steamy, hot chemistry between this couple, that the voting public can see, keeps them together, week after week. Watching Keaton interact with Avery’s son, Jacob was heartwarming.
These two were soul mates; meant to always be together. Over the past five years they both thought about the other; longing for, missing each other, and unable to really move on. When they are thrown together, overcoming the obstacles in their path, they discover the power of love; believing nothing will ever separate them again. Once again, Whisper Lake seems to have the magical water where everyone ends up happily ever after. I highly recommend Because of You to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This was an excellent read and wrap up of the Savage brothers! As much as I love a protective grump, I might love Keaton more than Ford. In previous books, I thought Keaton’s heroine would be his first love Camille, but was pleased when his HEA was revealed to be Avery. It’s very fitting that the owner of the ever-present Castle (which is practically a secondary character in every Whisper Lake book) was given her story. There are so many things I loved about this book- more of the Savage family, Jacob, Mojo, surprises in the Fairytale love cast, and the way the relationships with Jude and Camille were brought to closure. Now, my book wish list has grown. At the top…..Iris and Ivy, can you image the possibilities for perfect matches for their personalities and the reactions of their protective uncles and dad?!? I look forward to whatever comes next from Melanie Shawn! ❤️
Because of You is the fourth installment of the Whisper Lake: A Savage Brothers series by Melanie Shawn, and it was another incredibly fun story from the fairytale-like Whisper Lake!
Keaton Savage is the last of the Savage cousins to be single. He thought he was going to be with his high school sweetheart forever, but that ship sailed five years ago. Then he had a two-week thing with Avery, who just left without a word, and he hasn't stopped thinking about her since. So what happens when Avery comes back to town?
Avery took an unexpected turn on her life plan and ended up back in Whisper Lake to check on the castle she inherited from her father. When she runs into Keaton, she has a million questions in her head, like - does he remember who I am?
I always love visiting Whisper Lake and Keaton is one of my favorite Savages. I loved the journey that this story took and all of the characters! Another great novel by Melanie Shawn!!
Melanie Shawn has saved the best for last with this amazing story of second chances. Keaton gets his story and the love of his life with Avery, his 2 week romance from years before. Avery, single mom and owner of Stone Castle, returns to Whisper Lake after canceling her wedding and catching her fiance with the nanny on the morning of the doomed wedding. These two met 5 years before when Avery showed up after inheriting the castle from her dad. They had a 2 week romance, but she left after receiving life changing news. That news resulted in her son Jacob. Keaton has been in all the other stories but never got his HEA. Will he now? Especially after it's announced that he is going to be on the Fairytale love reality show. We get all the ups and downs, love, laughs, tears, , so much more in a wonderfully told story.
Finally getting Keaton’s story! Keaton and Avery meet years ago and have a small romance, but when Avery finds out she’s pregnant, she returns home to work things out with the baby’s father. Years later, right as they’re about to get married, she decides she can’t go through with it because she doesn’t love him and finds him cheating on her. She runs to the only place she can think of – the town she met Keaton at because she owns the local castle, and finds out that Keaton is still there and is part of a reality dating show on the castle grounds. As they reconnect, they realize the feelings from all those years ago are still there, and they finally get the HEA they both deserve, even with the involvement of Avery’s ex. Can’t wait to see what these authors bring out next! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Avery and Keaton's book has been a long time coming, poor Keaton has been in several books but hasn't gotten his HEA until now. Avery should be married, but instead, she and her son are heading to the castle she inherited .Once again Avery and Keaton meet up, still have the same spark and chemistry, but due to circumstances, they can't pursue their feelings for each other until they do. It was a treat seeing the cameos from other Melanie books. Steam was as per the norm super hot, and it was a very well crafted conclusion to all the Savage brothers getting their HEAs.
Fairytale love is happening at Stone Castle in Whisper Lake. A second season of Fairytale Love is being filmed at Stone Castle. Keaton was talked into doing the show by his nieces. He was not looking forward to it, but supporting his family is important to him. As the owner of Stone Castle and best friend to the producer of the show, Avery was excited to have the castle featured in the second season. Some twists and turns along with the backstory about Keaton and Avery bring this happily ever after story to life. Some of the contestants on the show are from other Melanie Shawn stories. It was fun to read about them and hope they get their own stories in the future.
Because Of You, is a feel-good, fun, steamy & moving second chance romance. Keaton & Avery, met in Whisper Lake, 5 years ago. After spending 2 passion filled weeks together, Avery disappeared from Keaton's life. Now, years later, Avery, made a decision that would change her life. Keaton, is happy with the life he has created for himself. Except his twin nieces have other plans for him. With Keaton & Avery, both in Whisper Lake, are their feelings for each other still the same? I truly enjoyed reading it!
There's a new season for the reality show and more victims get tangled up in it, with a little help from the knitting mafia. Owner of the castle, Avery, is back in town five years and a lot of personal history after her last visit. Keaton Savage is the Savage brothers' cousin, but grew up with them since 8 years old. His world is about to change again.
This was such a fun story. Great characters, a story with twists and turns and all the amazing supporting characters we (mostly) already know and love. The new (like Blanche) are fun and could maybe inspire some stories later on.
Finally we get Keaton Savages story! That man has been patients and waited his turn, and boy was it worth the wait.
Avery and Keaton are meant to be. They connected all those years ago and waited until their stars aligned again. Lots of back story and context mixed in with the current plot lines. I loved the sneaking around and the unspoken support they had for each other once they were both part of the tv show. Seeing everyone rooting for them and celebrating their budding love was lovely. A fantastic way to finish off the Savage brothers series.
I have been waiting for Keaton's book and it was so worth the wait! From the moment I picked up this book I was drawn into Avery and Keaton's story. These two had so much chemistry between them. I was rooting for them to get their second chance. This book was the perfect conclusion to an incredible series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a beautiful HEA for Avery and Keaton! These two get a second chance at love after spending the best couple weeks together five years prior and losing contact.
Keaton agrees to be part of a reality TV show to help his family and Avery is at a crossroads on her supposed to be wedding day marrying a man she doesn't want to.
The chemistry and banter between these two is great! I love their moments together and that they are able to find their way back to each other.
Keaton has been in several Whisper Lake books and I have been waiting for him to get his HEA! Avery comes to town after not going through with her wedding. She owns the castle hotel is the location for Fairytale Love - the reality show that is know for HEAs. Her and Keaton have a history. When Keaton gets roped into being on Fairytale Love, Avery can’t avoid him or their connection. I loved this book! Avery and Keaton story was the perfect magical end to the brothers stories!
What a great story! I love Keaton and Avery! Avery owns the castle that will be filming the reality tv series Fairytale Love. When she finds her soon to be husband in the bed with the nanny, she heads for the castle. She was hoping to run into Keaton who she met a few years ago and had the best time of her life. What she didn’t expect was for him to be part of the reality show. Now she will have to watch him fall in love with someone else.
Because of You is a fabulous second chance romance, full of family, funa dn of course romance. Avery and Keaton had such wonderful chemistry, and it was easy to be drawn into their story. What a great read!
Happy to see hat Keaton finally got is HEA. Overall the book was cute but at the 48% make I was struggling a bit since these Avery and Keaton spoke about 20 words to the other. I didn't think they would ever connect.
If you like a romantic book with some twists and turns you will really enjoy this book Melanie Shawn, the two sisters who author many good books. They are one of my fave authors! Keep writing these warm, fun and wonderful stories please!
Can I give this more than 5 stars? Avery and Keaton get their second chance after 5 years of not knowing. The Fairytale Love show wasn’t exactly what I expected, but it was fabulous nonetheless. I love all these Savage men and all their significant others. What a great way to end the series!
Engaging journey filled with very relatable charters, laugh out loud moments, brilliant witty banter, heart racing twists and slow simmering but undeniable passion.... Really enjoyed this emotional roller coaster journey from beginning to end.
I started reading whisper lake just because I liked the cover of the book, then after the first few pages I was hooked on the characters. Every story about each brother is beautiful, it's such a great block of books to get lost in and a real feel good romantic read. Thank you.
Awesome read and great finale the the Savage Brother of Whisper Lake. Keaton and Avery had an amazing two weeks together, but five years has passed and neither of them has forgotten. Chance circumstances bring them together at Stone Castle again and the sparks fly like they had never been apart. Great story - loved the reality TV angle and catching up with the rest of the Savage Brothers families too!!
Avery was in Whisper Lake to maybe put the castle she inherited from a father she never knew. Only instead of selling it, she's renovating it. It seems her best friend is producing a show called Fairytale Love, and it would be perfect. While out on a walk around the lake, she rescues a small dog from a coyote! That's when she meets the most handsome man she's ever seen. Keaton asks if she had a rat in her arms right after shooing the coyote away. He then takes her and the dog to the local vet, who tells them they have found Muffin and he had "escaped" from his home two days ago. They deliver him back to his owner and decide after being together all morning that they should get to know one another. After spending every moment they can together for two weeks tellingeachothereverything. From their recent breakups, his after 20 years and hers after five, Keaton comes back from a business meeting and finds her gone. She left without even saying goodbye or anything, and he is heartbroken. Five years later, on her wedding day, Avery realizes she just can't marry Jude, who she has known for 10 years and is the father of her son Jacob. She goes to his room and uses her pass key to gain entrance only to hear what sounds like he is either watching porn or, no, it can't be on the morning of their wedding? When she walks in, she finds yes it can, with the nanny of all people. She tells him the wedding is off and walks out, hoping never to have to see him again. She then goes to Whisper Lake as the chef has just quit, and she needs to get someone else in right away because they will be starting Fairytale Love 2 in just two weeks! Keaton arrives for his interview at the castle and has a lot of mixed feelings about being there. He still can't believe his neice talked him into doing this, but in his defense, he was drunk when she did. Now, here he is getting ready to go on Fairytale Love 2, but all he can think about is the red-headed beauty he spent so much time with for two glorious weeks five years ago. Then, as he's waiting for Maura to return, he thinks his mind is playing tricks on him as he sees her! Only she disappears before he can stand up. He goes the way he thinks she went, and after a short time, he sees her and calls her name. Avery tried not to turn around, but she just had to! There he is, the man she tried to forget but just couldn't! What happens next? Will she be tortured by seeing him every day? Will he find true love on her bestfriends show? What happens when her son and her mom show up from Disneyland? Whatever happened to Muffin? Only one way to find out is to read this great story by Melanie Shawn. You will love the end!
Avery and Keaton met 5 years ago and spent 2 weeks falling in love. When Avery went to the doctor for a headache and found out she was pregnant...and she was 2 months along, she left without a word and went back to her ex to try and work things out so her son would have a real family.
Fast forward 5 years and Avery decides on her wedding day that she can't marry her ex because she doesn't love him and ends up back in Whisper Lake where Keaton is about to start filming a dating reality show.
Keaton is a family man. He values his family above all else. So when he drunkenly agrees to go on the dating show his niece is working on because they were down a cast member, he sucks it up and joins the cast. During his first meeting with a producer, he runs into the owner of the castle they are filming at...Avery.
These two were adorable. They both were pining for each other for the last 5 years and when they are thrown back together, sparks are flying. The twists that were put into the plot made you want to root for them even further and the family aspect made me want to reach out and hug them. While the story had moments about the reality show filming, it was not based solely on that aspect, which is great because it was focusing more on the characters rather than the background noise. The story definitely was an easy read which made me laugh out loud and smile and with my busy schedule lately made me ecstatic. This was definitely a great read that made me escape from real life (which to me is essential).
